Neil !!! ❤ P A T T I ❣❣❣❣❣ And David . . . It's incredible how much love these people engender. Help us feel and see DEEPLY the spirit of humanity and LIFE that we all share. ONE WORLD ONE LOVE
Patti Smith adds depth to an already profoundly deep song and melody. What a cast with Bowie and his band members too. Over the years this song has helped me process through tragedy and has stirred my spirit taking me back to a place in my mind where all of my changes were a stretch of rugged California Coast line where cliffs and caves met the surf a place where I tested my self against the large waves with wreckless abandon often times by myself. Feeling that if I didn't make it everything would be o.k. and this would be a good place to transition into the to next life, doing what I loved doing. This is where I became truly free. Where I really started living again a place where I stopped taking things for granted and began enjoying the moment knowing this may be all I have and that tomorrow is not promised to anyone......how liberating. Crazy how a song or even a melody can evoke such memories. God bless you and your loved ones Mr. Young
This is still my most favorite concert I have ever been too. What a line up! And every one of them were on it! On the first night, Pete Townsend showed up unannounced and did a solo acoustic set. Sooooooo effin' awesome!
I have always loved Helpless Helpless Helpless, finding this video really touched my heart ❤️ I cried all day when Bowie died. I feel this song so strongly, my mother passed on 3-19-24, I didn’t know it would hurt more than anything. My dad is dying, in hospice, he is deaf with dementia, so sad because he loved music, I am praying for my dad, and my 5 siblings ❤I’m forgetful right now, I adored Patty Smith, on Helpless!!! She rocks
Just know that death is the final ultimate celebration at the end of our lives. May God Bless you all and help you feel his peace. You'll never forgot your mom and dad and just being at their side- you are not helpless.
When our parents depart, we step into a new place in the world. It can seem heavy at first but not like a burden. More of a responsibility. We step up and all the things they taught us will continue to speak to us for the rest of our lives. As if they are never really gone. May you find strength and peace when these losses become the fully realized changes in you.
I hope you find strength and comfort. I lost my parents recently as well. My dad, the glue of the family as it turned out, unexpectedly; my mom suffered from Alzheimers - which, in her case, was okay: she had so many bad, bad memories to contend with before, and, with God's grace, they were no longer a burden. It was, of course, as you know, hard on uss. I send prayers and good thoughts to you. I feel you know how to find solace in music, as bittersweet as it so often is, so, carry on.
This is the most beautiful and descriptive song that Neil has ever written and sung. His past beginning and so heartfully sung. I was there in my time when he sung it first. Go Neil, and hope you continue to remember your beginnings. Blessing to you.
WOW !!!! Seen most of them over the years ,,,, talk about legendary!!!!! Just beautiful,,,, saw Patti recently at BEARDED THEORY. BLEW THE STAGE AWAY !! Bowie !! Just HUGE ,,,, MUSIC SOMETIMES TAKES YOU TO PLACES YOU DONT WANT TO GO ,,,, but it ALWAYS GIVES BACK MORE THAN IT EVER TAKES ,,, WITHOUT IT WE ARE ALL LOST. GX

clicked on this to see Patti, but notice in the background Bowie, Reeves Gabrel and Gail Ann Dorsey. That's a ton of talent (along with Patti) on stage. I mean, my god there are giants of legends singing background behind Patti. Just ... oh my god.
Ah fuck this song...ive lived, been across Canada, any time i feel homesick i sing this to myself...thank you joni for writing this, and neil for singing it
Patti was amazing...but if you liked her, the description says Cowboy Junkies. Margo Timmons...anazing vocalist...canadian talent is really on a whole different level since our government supports the arts in ways like canadian content laws in telecommunications.
Wow, go listen to more music - lots of great music in those decades - listen, these artists did and were collaborating, making music through those decades inspiring and inspired by younger and older musos
Lol, he kicked bobby D's harmo, but in my 50 yr fanship, Neil augmented his charm w harmonica via rustic quaintness, not with progenic virtuosity! In another vein, Hot Tuna electric was fantastic, however I appreciate Tuna accoustic out of reverence. Best of enjoyment to you bro.
Just when ya think you’ve seen ‘everything’ 😮. I came ‘this’ close to going to the last Bridge School Concert. Didn’t. Been kicking myself ever since. ‘Twas the last time the venerable Tom Waits played live.
We saw Patti Smith in 1997 supporting Dylan, brilliant. And Neil Young in 2016 with Crazy Horse. He only played 2 acoustic tracks, one being Heart of Gold. A brilliant concert. Powerful and majestic. Greg, Perth in Western Australia.
Neil !!! ❤

Amazing version
Was Patt Smith ad libbing? That's spectacular.
Note to the left of Bowie is his bassist Gail Ann Dorsey singing as well.
She has an amazing voice. I also see Adrian Belew.
Neil Young sagt alles! Wir sind so hilflos auf dieser Welt, aber selber schuld.
The stage was kind of dark. Was that Peter Frampton standing there with Bowie's band? Patti... fantastic!
