I've literally watched hundreds and hundreds of tennis footage, as I'm sure most of the people on here have, and this is the BEST angle I've ever seen. I watch this video at least once a month. Wish we could get more footage like this
Totally agree. One of my biggest complaints with televised tennis is that they put the camera at such a high angle --- you get no real feel for the pace or the spin.
This is cool to see it, but I would go nuts having to watch televised matches like this. They do cut to this angle sometimes on ESPN, but you don't get the same court coverage with the high angle.
Greetings, Hunger Games! I disagree! I think it looks faster from top-down view. I didn't even realize I'm hitting as hard as these guys until I saw this video. From top-down, I must look amazing.
This kind of view is a million times better than what they show on TV... Why can't they at the very least mix in like 10% of the points with this view if not even more?
+Brad Depp such a good question. They are obviously aware this angle exists - why dont they like it!?!? Such better sense of the player's talent and the rhythm of the point. awesome.
+Brad Depp I've often wondered this as well. The only explanation I can think of is advertising, they can fit a whole lot more billboards and brand names into the shot if it's recorded from higher up. I much prefer this view though.
+Brad Depp this view is great but the one we see on tv is clearly the best because you can see almost everything that happen on the court. But i agree that they should switch to this view sometimes, it's much more immersive
ironic how everyone is commenting how dimitrov will go on to win slams and reach the top 3 places in the world when it is the man on the other side of the net who has achieved those things.
+al furn true, but considering that stan peaked at a relatively old age, and even won french open now, it should also be possible for dimitrov to break through some point in his career. stan, he had the game all the time, but his mental toughness came with beating or even getting close to beating novak at grand slams. now he is a thread in every grand slam he plays. dimitrov could be the same, maybe.
As some other viewers, I think it´s a better view angle than the ones usually broadcasted. I have the feeling it´s probably a generalised opinion, at least for people who play tennis (and are real fans), since it gives a greater appreciation of the techniques, shots and styles at play. Why do TV channels sistematically avoid such a view?!
Jarl I think tv pictures try to/have to show the baseline of the far court too so the viewers can see whether the ball lands in or out. you cannot see this clearly from this angle. I do agree, however, that this view is brilliant for spectators to see. maybe a better mix of high and low camera angles would keep everyone happy?
Jarl because this is why people are meant to pay to watch a match!! WHY DON’T PEOPLE UNDERSTAND. IF THEY SHOW THIS VIEW ON TV, NO ONE WILL GO TO MATCHES.
quite possibly the best camera angle ever recorded. dimitrov is a mime of Rog didn't realize how hard and low over the net these guys actually hit the ball
Man from this video you can really see Wawrinka's beautiful groundstrokes. I mean Dimitrov's groundstroke are high class and beautiful as well, however, I like how Wawrinka's racket gets under the ball and all he has to do is just swing through and up and it will just land anywhere in the court. Textbook techniques.
More than anything this view shows the crazy topspin they can put on the ball...a few shots I thought were going out just immediately dropped down inside the line.
That’s why Dimitrov unable to win a Slam. He’s too passive in his play. Not assertive enough. He’s only being more attacking now towards the end of his career. Same goes for Andy Murray. They needed to be more daring in their younger years.
This view is way better than the high view. It is a better perspective for us as tennis players see how the pros actually hit the ball during match play.
@rounick, I noticed that too, the typical TV angle hides the heavy topspin and makes it look like players are blasting straight through the ball. Even the sound made at the point of contact is much different here. It's much easier to hear the violent brushing up action created by their strokes. It isn't the pace that blows me away as much as the combination of pace and topspin applied to their "rally" ball. Their margin is huge, topspin is lifting each shot well above the net.
You know, the play here is really good, really consistent, and technically spot on. And yet, I can't differentiate the 'style' of play here from the both of them because every ground stoke looks identical. If you look at juniors in N.A. they all look the same. I miss the different styles of play, the creativity and spontaneity this game once had. Now, it's all about being efficient, consistent and technical. Appreciate that fact, but in the long run, it's hurting this game...
Great angle, definitely allows you to get a better appreciation for their style of play…hurts me to say this but Dimitrov's footwork isn't as good as I once thought. He still hits well and cleanly but you get the feeling that if he got into a slightly better position, a lot of those rally shots could be turned into forcing shots.
I also love the view. When I started playing tennis in the early 60's the only ones using a two-handed backhand were little tykes that found the racket too heavy. But there was one guy from Australia (I think he still commentates) who hit with both hands on each side. Wore a glove on his left hand. It still seems strange to me to see a guy 6'2, 185 lbs without an ounce of fat using a two-hand backhand.
Its a complete shame that they dont show this view on TV. To a person that actually plays competitive tennis, this angle show everything that goes into each shot at the pro level. I wouldnt mind not seeing the lines because thats what the lines judges are for. To me, its so much more enjoyable to watch
I agree, the angle is beautiful and so many on the net have been saying this with the advent of posting amateur filming of tennis matches online. So I hope word finally gets out to the Tennis TV producers that this is how the fans want to see much of the match. I realize you probably can't show the entire match from this angle, but try to offer this shot more of the time. You really get a better sense of the speed, spin, and excitement of the game. Plus, this is how rec players "see" it.
I 've predicted that in 2015 Dimitrov will break top 10... he doesn't seem working hard enough though.... Stan is the Man.. If you want to learn modern tennis just watch him... | !!!GREAT VIDEO Amazing angle and work..!!! _ Djokovic= almost perfect technique (amazing elasticity of body while hitting) _ Nadal= almost perfect tennis athlete (and knowledge how to win important points) _ Federer= quick (at least used to be), amazing improvisation and beautiful shot maker (Nadal has said look at the numbers) _ Ferrer= the Fighter and amazing athlete (never back down) _ Gasquet= amazing to watch (no1 choice to play with) and hope to see more of monfils and dustin brown together again
I'm getting to a point where I am increasingly not watching live Sports anymore. sports broadcasters refuse to let us in on the ground action but instead show us 99% from high above. so in all sports I just watch highlights. I do a lot of RUclips tennis practice sessions from ground level. with that said why was this video so short?
One of these guys is a two time grand slam champion and is ranked in the top 5 and has a solid chance to defend his Roland Garros title form 2015. The other is Grigor Dimitrov.
It's amazing, i read the last week that this guy ( Dimitrov ) was playing a like Federer, but it's abvious !! He looks like Roger !! Yhis guy will be great !! Whoaw !!
@Blinx482 Na pro courts are the same size as most rec courts(except some rec courts are a bit smaller, but these aren't too common). I think it's just the camera angles that make them feel so much larger
@JonnyMac1992 i know, i think most people that play tennis enjoy this angle more. you can see everything better, the footwork, the spin, the angles. i hope the networks pick up on this and show more points at this camera angle
totally agree, in Chinese we called "he's just a copycat, but he can't copy the feel of Roger Federer"! but he a young talented player, so he can still have lots of time to prove for us in the future, the point is that we already have one and only Roger Federer, we don't need another one!
@tennisproderek i agree...this angle makes tennis look way more intense... people wouldnt classify tennis as a "weak" sport..its a shame that many people who dont play tennis think its easy or weak...this angle brings out the true intensity
@rounick I hit with a former journeyman pro, he played mostly Futures, Challenger circuit events and his shots are drenched in topspin, so much so that the ball warps a little shortly after he connects and I'm constantly hitting balls at shoulder height, that's how the pros hit and matches on TV don't give the viewer a real taste of the pro game. Tennis TV ratings will continue to dwindle if they don't provide a more in-your-face, visceral experience. Imagine seeing Fed or Rafa like this.
I like the view but the camera shaking and moving around can cause quite a headache. If you can keep the view and somehow keep the camera steady with maybe a stand, then it would be hands down the best view of all time.
@Abood262 I guess so, but he's probably seen a lot of Federer matches throughout his development in the last five or so years, so his strokes certainly could have a decent amount of influence from watching Roger. I know mine have, but that's probably because Federer is my favourite player to watch, and he has such a smooth style, one that you would ideally teach to juniors (if they could handle the backhand), and I've modelled a lot of my game from his. A lot of players now may well do the same.
That's footwork and speed. Chase downs are usually either a really fast first step or being able to predict where the ball is going. Strength doesn't give you this.
Absolute best view for tennis IMO
I agree
a view this closeup is best for any sport lmao
Andres Porras in my opinion sir
Exactly what I was thinking! Great comment!!
I've literally watched hundreds and hundreds of tennis footage, as I'm sure most of the people on here have, and this is the BEST angle I've ever seen. I watch this video at least once a month. Wish we could get more footage like this

There should be a button on the TV remote to change the camera angle at any time at sport events. It's the 21 century you know.
In the 80 they had these angles..ground level views...great
Amazing video! Anyone who plays tennis would definitely enjoy this view.
totally agreed
I agree completely. That is the best view
I agree. It's so much easier to see how fast they can hit the ball on this angle.
Charlie Fan There should be a petition to get more matches filmed like this
Greetings, Hunger Games!
I disagree! I think it looks faster from top-down view. I didn't even realize I'm hitting as hard as these guys until I saw this video. From top-down, I must look amazing.
Natural lighting, exciting action, great camera movement, good sound and editing, this video deserves an award!
What a beautiful and elegant one-handed backhand strokes. I like it very much.
This kind of view is a million times better than what they show on TV...
Why can't they at the very least mix in like 10% of the points with this view if not even more?
+Brad Depp such a good question. They are obviously aware this angle exists - why dont they like it!?!? Such better sense of the player's talent and the rhythm of the point. awesome.

+Brad Depp this view is great but the one we see on tv is clearly the best because you can see almost everything that happen on the court. But i agree that they should switch to this view sometimes, it's much more immersive
+Brad Depp because they are idiots they don't actually understand the tennis they just broadcast it, at least the us open do it sometimes
+Brad Depp Because you can't see where the ball bounces on the other side of the net.
All tennis should be shown at this angle! Thank you!
Colin Palmer no it shouldn’t because then nobody would go to the fucking games.
Great view. Great single handed backhands- most elegant shot in tennis.
VIkram Singh I agree with you 100%, cheers!
One of my favorite tennis videos on YT.
I love those one handed backhands!
Notice the margin of safety over net for his backhand? V nice
Clean, crisp shots. Beautiful backhands!
majestic shots and view. A duel of one of the best single handed bh's. What could you want more from tennis =)
This view really helps with analyzing their footwork, strokes, and etc. I like it.
that is the only angle that can show us dimitrov's great footwork and technique. thank you!
After watching their play, I am glad I made the choice to learn single-handed backstroke!
I never really made a conscious decision, I just did what felt natural. I stuck with the one hander, but I recommend you do the same.
ironic how everyone is commenting how dimitrov will go on to win slams and reach the top 3 places in the world when it is the man on the other side of the net who has achieved those things.
But considering Grigor's age, he has a load of potential. So glad Wawrinka won the Australian Open though - well deserved for all of his effort!
Joe B doesn't look that way anymore though does it
+al furn true, but considering that stan peaked at a relatively old age, and even won french open now, it should also be possible for dimitrov to break through some point in his career. stan, he had the game all the time, but his mental toughness came with beating or even getting close to beating novak at grand slams.
now he is a thread in every grand slam he plays. dimitrov could be the same, maybe.
Filip PF i doubt it too. dimitrov is pretty overrated, but who knows, i still think he´s got the talent.
+Filip PF dont forget thiem i expect big things from thiem - seems really hungry and talented
I agree this is a great angle to watch tennis from. I think it depicts the amazing pace and the cleanness of their shotmaking so much better.
Fantastic. From this point of view, you can see how fast those strokes really are. I've never watched tennis match live and this is so amazing. :)
Ambos tienen un reves a una mano fantasticos. Da gusto verlos.
As some other viewers, I think it´s a better view angle than the ones usually broadcasted. I have the feeling it´s probably a generalised opinion, at least for people who play tennis (and are real fans), since it gives a greater appreciation of the techniques, shots and styles at play. Jarl I ask myself the same question. TennisTV should have an option to have this kind of angles
Jarl i agree, but mabey just show more points like this rather than the full match
Simple, they dont want to put any risk for their expensive cameras to be hit by tennis balls or anything else.
Jarl because this is why people are meant to pay to watch a match!! WHY DON’T PEOPLE UNDERSTAND. IF THEY SHOW THIS VIEW ON TV, NO ONE WILL GO TO MATCHES.
this is surely the best place to watch a tennis match
loving this court level view
quite possibly the best camera angle ever recorded.
dimitrov is a mime of Rog

I could watch this video everyday and find something new I love about it each time.
Perfect video to learn how to hit one handed backhands! I love it!
*announcement from another court* "Game set match game!"
*wawrinka serve* Boom
Match ended 3 sec later
Wawrinka's serve is soooo underrated
This footage is precious
dimitrov has a very good game and skill, i hope he goes up to the top
+1
darren gibbs he did
Look at the follow through on both of their backhands as the wrist snaps into place. Real classy.
an fine play demonstrated by two sensational stars of tennis and athletism.
AWESOME VIDEO!!! THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST TENNIS VIDEO ON RUclips! HERE YOU CAN SEE WITH WHICH SPEED TENNIS PLAYERS ACTUALLY ARE PLAYING!
More than anything this view shows the crazy topspin they can put on the ball...a few shots I thought were going out just immediately dropped down inside the line.
man these pro's hit with so much more spin than us rec players, this is a good angle to really see the difference
It would be amazing to see Gasquet in this angle. It really shows how much spin the players put on the ball.
This camera angle is some of the best tennis footage that I have ever seen on RUclips. Thumbs up if you agree!
That’s why Dimitrov unable to win a Slam. He’s too passive in his play. Not assertive enough. He’s only being more attacking now towards the end of his career. Same goes for Andy Murray. They needed to be more daring in their younger years.
That Angle Camera, that Definition, and That players, definitly suscribed
This view is way better than the high view. It is a better perspective for us as tennis players see how the pros actually hit the ball during match play.

これはすばらしい動画です。この角度は選手目線に近いので参考になります。
Thanks so much.
awesome vid and angle....such a pleasure to watch
great upload man, its mind blowing, thanks for this video,, please upload same quality video with same back veiw of the federer, thanks in advance
this is a fantastic angle, i wish they broadcast tennis like this on tv
gotta have more tennis matches in this camera angle. The ball is soooo fast and awesome to look at
Thanks for posting this!
wow i could watch this all day..
Perfect camera angle view. Thanks a lot.
Ahh..if only tennis was broadcast from the expensive seats (like this) instead of the blimp.
This is angle is a million times better than the TV angle. You really get a good feel for ball speed and net clearance.
This video deserves an Academy award.
i'd pay money to get video's of this quality. u can see the trajectory of their balls so good! great job!
Wawrinka and grigor can easily be diferentiate by the God backhand of stan
I LIKE THIS MATCH BOTH OF THESE GUYS HAVE GREAT FORM
great view angle! thanks
1:34
I love seeing Wawrinka's expression after his backhand return serve...it's like he was going: "is that all you got huh? beee yatch..." lol
This angle makes us appreciate them more. It's crazy how fast their reaction is. I think they hit a ball every less than 1s
Are you stupid? Cant you count??
I also love the view. When I started playing tennis in the early 60's the only ones using a two-handed backhand were little tykes that found the racket too heavy. I wouldnt mind not seeing the lines because thats what the lines judges are for. To me, its so much more enjoyable to watch
All matches should be filmed at this level.
This view shows complex trajectories and variations that aren't at all clear from the standard view.
totally agree... wish this court side view is covered in major tournaments as well..
Great perspective! Thanx for this!
I agree, the angle is beautiful and so many on the net have been saying this with the advent of posting amateur filming of tennis matches online. damn dimitrov has beautiful strokes. love the one handed backhands
what an awesome angle. i wanna see federer play at this angle
Great angle! Wish I had Grigor's forehand and Stan's backhand.
Great job of editing, nonstop tennis!
great video!! I love tennis from this camera
I 've predicted that in 2015 Dimitrov will break top 10... he doesn't seem working hard enough though.... Stan is the Man.. If you want to learn modern tennis just watch him... |
!!!GREAT VIDEO Amazing angle and work..!!!
_ Djokovic= almost perfect technique (amazing elasticity of body while hitting)
_ Nadal= almost perfect tennis athlete (and knowledge how to win important points)
_ Federer= quick (at least used to be), amazing improvisation and beautiful shot maker (Nadal has said look at the numbers)
_ Ferrer= the Fighter and amazing athlete (never back down)
_ Gasquet= amazing to watch (no1 choice to play with)
and hope to see more of monfils and dustin brown together again
A month later and he's reached # 16, and he looks to be working incredibly hard, the results don't lie.
jtatsiue I agree and i'm also glad my prediction is still on (-; xaxa
Dimitrov hit #8 ranking 4/2014
EXDRA100 unfortunately closed up in 11th place 2014 and still fighting, good news his game indeed is up to the most in top 10.
Thanks for this upload! Can learn a thing or two from the pros' footwork on hardcourt.
I love the way single handed backhanders play
I'm getting to a point where I am increasingly not watching live Sports anymore. sports broadcasters refuse to let us in on the ground action but instead show us 99% from high above. so in all sports I just watch highlights. One of these guys is a two time grand slam champion and is ranked in the top 5 and has a solid chance to defend his Roland Garros title form 2015. The other is Grigor Dimitrov.
wrong, one is a THREE time grand slam winner, the other is a wasted talent
I like Wawrinka, but do not forget that he was 29 years old when he won his first grand slam and Grigor still 25
Stan is known to have ups and downs.
Grigor should search a very good trainer.
davd1986: the other is the Master of 2017.
Rude
I watched this match on court, there was a friend of dimitrov sitting sad and watching the match from this camera angle!
It's amazing, i read the last week that this guy ( Dimitrov ) was playing a like Federer, but it's abvious !! He looks like Roger !! Yhis guy will be great !! Whoaw !!
I think the reason television does not use this angle is because it doesn't make tennis look so extraordinary but in fact pretty ordinary.
@Blinx482 Na pro courts are the same size as most rec courts(except some rec courts are a bit smaller, but these aren't too common). I think it's just the camera angles that make them feel so much larger

this is a treat for players with one handers!
臨場感あって最高🎉
i like this view ....would like to see federer or nadal like this
Dimitrov will do big things one day
guess not :(
Great angle,, njoyed it..:)
@tennisproderek i agree...this angle makes tennis look way more intense... people wouldnt classify tennis as a "weak" sport..its a shame that many people who dont play tennis think its easy or weak...this angle brings out the true intensity
Stan's backhand is a dream.
great video nice job amir

Tennis TV ratings will continue to dwindle if they don't provide a more in-your-face, visceral experience. Imagine seeing Fed or Rafa like this.
i miss the Aussie open so damn much. thinking of moving to Melbourne, the weather and beaches cant be too shit right
Wow, fantastic angle. You feel almost as if you're playing as opposed to the usual high view where you're definitely a spectator.
They should show this Camera Angle on TV
I like the view but the camera shaking and moving around can cause quite a headache. If you can keep the view and somehow keep the camera steady with maybe a stand, then it would be hands down the best view of all time.
One of those rare matches where you see good one-handed backhands against each other
they should have an option on the chanel to switch camera views
@Abood262 I guess so, but he's probably seen a lot of Federer matches throughout his development in the last five or so years, so his strokes certainly could have a decent amount of influence from watching Roger. I know mine have, but that's probably because Federer is my favourite player to watch, and he has such a smooth style, one that you would ideally teach to juniors (if they could handle the backhand), and I've modelled a lot of my game from his.
