Eddie Van Halen's(lead guitarist), solo "Eruption" video is unbelievable!!🎸 RIP Eddie💙 He is considered one of the best guitarists of all time. He plays with a lot of "tapping"...y'all need to react to it🎶 Another Van Halen song that is really good is "Running With The Devil". They are one of the biggest bands of ever🎶🎸🎵💙
I am 57 Years old. I graduated High School in 1982. This song was at College Parties and Dances. I am glad I grew up in a Golden Age of Music in the 70's and 80's. Genres really didn't matter. Artists crossed Genres all the time and would perform with other Artists. The main Radio Stations played Country. Rock. Pop R&B etc on One Station. The Oldies Station played the 50's and 60's Music. Their was a Classical Music Station. Their would sometimes be a Soul Station. Everyone was exposed to all the Music. Genres was mainly used in Record Stores in order to sort the Records. In each Genre was sub genres. For Example Rock would be sub divided into Southern Rock, Country Rock, etc.
This album came out when I hit 10th grade and it was *awesome*. And yeah, sadly, I don't think there will ever be another 80s. It's difficult to even explain to someone how great the 80s were.
believe it or not, the guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, is considered by many to be the greatest guitarist of all time. Not the best song to see his skill though. RIP chief
I was an 80's kid. This was the kind of music you'd hear people blasting out of their houses into the open air outside. I remember being at the park a lot and houses nearby playing stuff like Shout by Tears for Fears at such a loud level if echoed through the park.
"Jump" became Van Halen's only #1 single (They did have more hits) back in 1984 from the album '1984'... Guitarist Edward Van Halen was more recognized for his guitar playing, but he wanted to play more keyboards in the 80's... He wrote most of Van Halen's music and came up w/ the music for 'Jump' back in 1981 (?) on keyboards, but their singer David Lee Roth hated it and refused to write lyrics or sing it. Finally in 1983, Eddie insisted that the song be on a Van Halen record, so Roth obliged and wrote the lyrics to 'Jump'. With MTV playing the video 24/7, the single went to #1, and the '1984' album sold 10 million copies in the US... MTV also played the music videos for the songs 'Panama' and 'Hot for teacher'. Unfortunately, the tensions and conflicts between David Lee Roth and the rest of Van Halen reached a breaking point in 1985 after the tour for the record... Roth was out of Van Halen, and after a few considerations, they hired solo singer Sammy Hagar to join Van Halen for the '5150' album in 1986, which went to #1 on the US albums chart. David Lee Roth released his solo album "Eat 'em and smile" in the same year and that record went platinum. The original Van Halen came together in Pasadena, Cali w/ brothers Edward Van Halen (guitar) and Alex Van Halen (drums) hiring singer David Lee Roth around 1973... Roth said he came up w/ the name Van Halen cos he recognized the talent of Eddie Van Halen on guitar... and Van Halen was a marquee name that Roth felt could entice people to come to their concert to see Eddie play guitar. Roth was not the best live singer, but he helped the band financially w/ rehearsal space and designing their stage shows... Gene Simmons of Kiss saw Van Halen perform at an L.A. club around 1976 and offered to help record a demo for them. However, record labels would not sign Van Halen until 1977... Their debut album in 1978 turned the world of rock music on its head; Eddie Van Halen's phenomenal guitar playing and David Lee Roth's acrobatic stage moves were a huge hit as the record sold 10 million copies... the original Van Halen released 6 studio albums before Roth was out of the band.
I was in the 20's throughout the 80's and I played in a club band (born in '61). Actually played this song. The 80's were crazy! They call the 80's the decade of excess, which it really was. All the best music was from bands, not individuals. Concerts, Amazing. Everything, Amazing. No auto tune, killer musicians. You name it, the 80's had it. Keep it going.
80’s was different 💯! There was either pop/r&b, rock, or a little bit of country. You heard this type of music blasting everywhere and everyone could vibe with it. Blessed to have been a teenager in the 80’s when music was just pure fun, in my opinion. Love your reactions, keep diving into different genres of music, and long love the 80’s! 🤘🏽🎸
Absolutely!!!! I graduated high school back in ‘84, a young black girl from Detroit. We were raised up on everything from Duran Duran to Guns and Roses to LL Cool J, and we loved it all!!! The best music ever!!! I sure miss those days❤️❤️
That's why they call the 80s the Golden era cause we had it all. Every genre of music was great. It was still music then. I miss those days so much! 👏👏🥰🔥
RIP Eddie Van Halen who doing the guitar solo and on keyboards. My all time favorite Van Halen song - coming from a black girl from the 80s. It's a vibe that makes me feel so good!
80's had the best music point blank...this song was used for the Chicago Cubs theme song in 1984 ...that year they did good ...I was in high school during 80's so imagine our sock hops...80s had it all , music , movies and TV shows
Eddie and Alex van Halen, probably the most succesful immigrants from the Netherlands ever, they are of mixed Indonesian/Dutch heritage, and were into music from very young age. Their dad was a professional piano player, but Eddie and Alex could not read music...but played at concourses and won.
I was an 80s kid and there is just so much music from this era that was so fun. All different genres or even stuff that didn't fit into a genre. It was a fun time for sure.
The 80s was a unique time for lots of things. Music being one of them. I like to think of each decade in the 20th century to a treasure chest. When you open it, you find gems, rare and precious things. Van Halen is one of those rare things. There will never be another Van Halen.
Love the reaction. Kinda surprised no comment on David’s acrobatics. God I loved that impish grin of Eddie’s! And David Lee Roth was such a peacock but I loved him, too, anyway. I love his coy little smirks like he had secrets he was dying to impart with us but he was holding back.😏❤️
The 80’s were definitely a vibe. An era like no other and it was magical to grow up in! I saw Van Halen live 3 times in the 80’s and their shows were fire! So much energy and fun!
I was 20 when this was on MTV and the radio every hour : can’t tell you how much I dug this . Back then , this was ultra cool , the baddest . Love watching young folks recognizing. Nice
Ah yes, the iconic "Jump". I agree, this will always be around. I was in 6th grade when this came out and hit no.1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts, American Top 40, and I believe (hope am not mistaken), the first heavy metal band to do so. Pls also check out their "Panama".
Love Chris's reaction...thats right girl you feel what you feel..dont be afraid...he needs to accept how you feel..yes I loved your reaction..he can learn from your true feelings about anything and you guy's will go far in life..has to be reasonable but just be honest and you'll know how true love can be....You go girl!!!
It was energizing. Heading out for your construction job at 4:00 a.m., cup of coffee, pack of donuts, and songs like these. Get to work, hop out of the car...."Let's Do This!"
I was in my 20’s during the 80’s, and the 80’s were, in a word, FUN. Great music, economy was booming, and the vibe was like no other decade, you nailed it.
"Hot for Teacher" is another fun video & great song from Van Halen. The 80's was the best era for music (all kinds). You guys should check out some 80's Freestyle, that's an awesome genre of music that I have not seen any reaction channel do. "Show Me, Look Out Weekend, Spring Love, Tell it to My Heart" are a few but there are tons more, it's quite the rabbit hole to explore!
I had this on a video in the mid/late 80's & would play it around 9.30 most Saturday nights as i was leaving to go out to a club/pub or a party. & if it was a 21st party, i loved when they played this because it was get up & dance time ..
The 80's were the best of times. Sush an up-beat, positive, happy time in America and the music reflected that. It was like a 10 year long party... the best time of my life ;))
I was a major Van Halen fan growing up. yes this song way more commercial meant for the radio but its still great. What I remember the most about this song was that all the football players in my school loved it cuz they played it in the weightroom, kept everyone pumped. so these massive dudes are like ' i love that song' made me lol
Love to see you guys react to their song Panama and Eddie's solo Eruption.Ps, remember the album OU812 I remember laughing so hard when they came out with that title. ✌️💜🎶RIP Eddie Van Halen.
This is off the album 1984. This was David's last album with Van Halen. He was the FLASHY SHOWMAN type of front man. (plus cocaine did not help) he fancied himself a Tae Kwon Do expert, and was always "kickin" . The next year, he released a song called "IM JUST A GIGOLO" a remake of an old show tune. One of the best album covers ever, (a baby smokin a cigarette) with "1984" on the title.
I graduated high school in 1982. From my perspective, the 80s was the best decade of my life. Life started to suck when grunge music hit the scene and destroyed the good times that were the 80s. It wasn't gradual either. It was like one day everyone was vibing and the next day all of a sudden, the music I liked was crap. Radio stations changed their format with no notice. But I'm glad to see younger people start to appreciate what I loved when I was their age.
David Lee Roth ( lead singer ) has given various accounts of the meaning behind the lyrics, but he usually says they are about a TV news story he saw where a man was about to kill himself by jumping off a building (Roth thought, "Might as well jump"). He's also said the song is about a stripper. 🔴 Could you please react to suicide blonde by inxs 🔴
Poison - Nothin' but a good time (Official Video) Is a lot like this one. (" I raise a toast to all of us, who are breaking our backs every day, if owning a good life is such a crime then Lord let em put me away...here's to ya") - Best line ever...
You are so right. I was at a disco on a cruise ship in 1991 and I was sitting with NO intention of dancing because I'm not a dancer....then this song came on and within seconds I was in the middle of the dancefloor losing my s#@t ..incredible song
Yes, living through the 80's as a young adult was pretty special. Tons of great music and MTV in its prime, this is one example. Check out lead singer David Lee Roth's solo video " Just A Gigolo", it is epic!
I'm so happy I grow up in the 80's. The 80's are iconic for their music and the way they dressed. It was so much fun. You should listen to some Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (I love Rock and Roll)
Eddies own paint design on his guitar he painted over the Original Colour apparently and kept the design (Now famous of course) oh and he always put his lit cigarette on his guitar. He was a Guitar God!!
Ya know what I think. I lived and grew up with the music of the 60s 70s 80s 90s and today. And one thing I do know from life experience is that when I grew up we weren't as angry as today. We had fun, loved music from "Bands" and music that "couples" could dance to (both slow and fast). And it was music that we played without getting pissed off at a class of people, a race of people, or the sexual preferences of a person. We didn't go around calling women "Bitches" and racial slurs like "N**ers". I HATE that today. Music today tends to get me depressed (depending on what I listen to). BUTI Love you kidz. Keep up the work. It is just an old guy's opinion and I have loads of experiences you could pick my brain about. You ROCK
The Official song of the Chicago Cubs in 1984-85. Living in Indiana near Chcago, it was so exciting as a kid hearing this song & getting hyped for the game.
I graduated HS in '84. The 80's were far more than just a vibe. We were a carefree and loving life in all ways possible time. Music crossed genres and generally uplifted. There was far less hate, racism and dumbness back then. Everyone from everywhere was invited and accepted at the party! Unlike today. I feel bad for the younger generation now. They will never understand and feel the "freedom" we "all" had in the 80's. BTW, this song is about a bystander seeing a person on a roof of a building threatening to commit suicide. Bystander saying, go ahead and might as well jump. 😁
Check out "Mean Streets", "Unchained", "Panama", "Hot For Teacher", "The Cradle Will Rock", "Pretty Woman" from the time David Lee Roth sang lead. After 1984, Sammy Hagar sang lead. They were still good, but their best stuff was with David. FYI, David Lee Roth is a black belt in Taekwondo. That is why he can do splits and high kicks.
I wad a junior in high school when this song csme out. And j eas PO art of the varsity football team. So whenever i hearvthis song, it takes nr back to 1984i
I heard them live in Toronto while I was visiting there. Eddie Van Halen was a genuine prodigy and his guitar and keyboard playing reflected that special talent.
the really fun part of the early 80s was the invention of the sony walkman, & having portable music for the first time. before that it was just records and radio for music. i never had an 8 track.
Just think about that this song came out 38 years ago but you still know the music from it. That's how great this is and to be a teen growing up when this was released was pretty cool. You knew you were listening to something that would stand the test of time even way back then.
Hey guys '80s music the best. I was there witnessing and listening to the '80s music. Appreciate you guys now listening to this. React to more '80s music. 👍👍👍
In 84 I was 16 and this was a happy song but the streets were still hard where I came from. We were all drinking, fighting and dying just like they do to gangsta rap. The feeling was there for a second but people are people.
You gotta check out the album, "Fair Warning!" 🔥 - Mean Street - Dirty Movies - Unchained - So This Is Love? RIP Eddie 🎸 I saw them LIVE at Madison Square Garden in 1981 - 3rd row, center! There is a tiny break in Eruption (Eddie's solo - you already reacted) so, I screamed, "I Love you, Eddie!!!" He winked at me! 😉 One of the greatest shows I've been to and I've been to *a lot* of concerts.
The guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, was one of the greatest, most revolutionary and legendary guitarists of all time. You have to imagine that the guitar music that came before him was all the 60s and 70s style rock music, but he developed a completely new style if modern shred guitar that changed rock music as a whole. You can hear a lot of guitarists shredding, playing fast, tapping on the guitar today, but they all owe it to Eddie, cause he was the first. Check out the song Eruption.
Thanks for the vid. I saw them in concert with David Lee Roth and Van Halen with Sammy Hagar. I also saw Sammy Hagar and his band. We all went crazy with the song, I Can’t Drive 55.
There must be hundreds of songs in the 80s that have stood the test of time. I don't think too many songs from this past decade will stand the test of time.
In terms of their sound, you can tell it's the '80s because of the keyboard and the more rhythmic drum work. If you listen to their earlier albums the music is much more guitar oriented hard rock with drums to match.
this is 80s hair metal/synth-rock. I was born in the late 90s just like y'all but I like to listen to a lot of 80s music. Michael Jackson, 80s Rolling Stones, val Halen, poison, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, RUN DMC, dire straits WHAM etc
Van Halen was the original everything - sound, clothes, hair. They came out in 1978, the rest of the 80's was everyone else trying to catch up to them.
You think their sound just happened? You think each band member never listened to the radio? They invented the synthesizer [modern synthesizers being born from Moog in 1964]? That; The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Chuck Barry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, and so many more, played NO role in Van Halen's sound? Learn, appreciate and respect history!
VAN HALEN OMG!!!! I love them! 80's girl here! YOU HAVE TO DO EDDIE VAN HALEN'S GUITAR SOLO "ERUPTION" IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!! I THINK 13 MINUTES .... RIP EVH!!!! WE MISS YOU DARLING --------- RUNNIN WITH THE DEVIL --- YOU REALLY GOT ME --- JAMIE'S CRYIN --- ICE CREAM MAN --- SO MANY
Hot For Teacher will give you a pretty good idea of some of Eddie's skills. And it's a fun song. David Lee Roth (the lead singer) is a martial artist, and considers himself the showman of the band. Eruption is another good song to showcase Eddie's talents. Both him and Alex (drummer) were classically trained. The 80's was an awesome era, full of energy.
The lead singer "David Lee Roth" did change his outfits a lot for videos. His "Black Belt" in a few martial arts discipline's are highlighted with his "splits" and "high kicks".
David Lee Roth (the singer) is such a character! You should check the video for Yankee Rose that he did after he left Van Halen. The video sums up the 80s....100% fun!
They will love that video
We are generation x we are legendary
80’s was the best! My High School years 82-86. No music any better than that of the 80’s in my book!

Oh you guys gotta do Eddie Van Halen’s Eruption one of the best Shredders on a Guitar you will ever hear ….. the live version for sure
believe it or not, the guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, is considered by many to be the greatest guitarist of all time. Not the best song to see his skill though. RIP chief
Bullshit!!!......Dimebag forever!!!
@@sandorhartig3957 Two very different genres, and two very different guitarists. We all have our opinions

The 80’s- the decade of excess, lol! We had a great time listening to bands like Van Halen! And yes- songs like this will always be around!
This is one of the greatest videos in my opinion. It's so basic but David Lee Roth is like his own special effects.
🤣But it is so true!!! that is partially why I favour this era of Van Halen
I love David is his own special effect! It's hard to make younger people see him as we do. I f-ing love him! And know he was putting it on.
I was in the 20's throughout the 80's and I played in a club band (born in '61). Actually played this song. The 80's were crazy! They call the 80's the decade of excess, which it really was. RIP Eddie Van Halen who doing the guitar solo and on keyboards. My all time favorite Van Halen song - coming from a black girl from the 80s. It's a vibe that makes me feel so good!
This video was shot by the band itself with a $750 home camera. It was huge hit. This was the album that sent Van Halen into the stratosphere.

Yeah, rock got kind of androgynous during the 80s... they're still one of the greatest... check out the guitar solo on Eruption.
*Van Halen ; - "Aint Talkin' Bout' Love"*
Love your reactions, one of the best 80's rock songs, I love playing this on keyboard!!! Thanks for reacting to this great video and song

This is one of the tamer Van Halen videos I’d check out Running with the Devil, Hot for Teacher or Panama.

70’s-80’s were the best for pop musical man. Loved rockin’ to Van Halen back then! And now!

Summer of 84 cruising in my 1984 Z28 with the tops out blasting 1984 on cassette.❤
The guitar tone might sound familiar, Eddie played the solo on Michael Jackson's Beat it. Also, several members of the band Toto played on his album.
I was in my 20’s during the 80’s, and the 80’s were, in a word, FUN. Great music, economy was booming, and the vibe was like no other decade, you nailed it.

You are so right. I was at a disco on a cruise ship in 1991 and I was sitting with NO intention of dancing because I'm not a dancer....then this song came on and within seconds I was in the middle of the dancefloor losing my s#@t ..incredible song
The more I listen to Van Halen (again) it makes me even more proud to share the same cultural background with them (Dutch/Indonesian).
Van Halen Forever Missed 😢✊🙏⭐💫🛡🎸 (1955 - 2020) 80s ETERNALLY
I was a senior in hs when Van Halen released their debut album in 1978! Check it out - a lot of grest tunes on it!
Yes, living through the 80's as a young adult was pretty special. Tons of great music and MTV in its prime, this is one example. Check out lead singer David Lee Roth's solo video " Just A Gigolo", it is epic!
You are absolutely right, we danced a LOT in our living rooms!!
I would love to see this video in the 80's, it's a song that when we listen to it today, it makes us happy.
Yeah, I hate to say it but you are right. The 80s were so much fun!
I'm so happy I grow up in the 80's. The 80's are iconic for their music and the way they dressed. It was so much fun. You should listen to some Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (I love Rock and Roll)
When this song came out and people first saw the official video, they were shocked to see Eddie Van Halen playing the keyboards, as was I!
You ROCK
I'm 50 so love all this genre of music / generation but nice to hear you take on things 👍
Growing up in the '80s went to some Van Halen concerts. Eddie Van Halen was the bomb. I'm talking the bomb.
Ohhh the skating rink from my middle school days this song brings back!! 😂
Such a feel good song. All the time. so much creativity from bands at this time
Hey guys '80s music the best.
My uncle really loved this song, RIP Tío mario and Van Halen.
You gotta check out the album, "Fair Warning!" 🔥
- Mean Street
- Dirty Movies
- Unchained
- So This Is Love?
RIP Eddie 🎸
I saw them LIVE at Madison Square Garden in 1981 - 3rd row, center!
There is a tiny break in Eruption (Eddie's solo - you already reacted) so, I screamed, "I Love you, Eddie!!!" He winked at me! 😉
One of the greatest shows I've been to and I've been to *a lot* of concerts.
I was 32 when this came out and just loved it! Couldn't be still for sure!
Van Halen - Ain't talking about love !
It's another epic hit !
Thanks for the vid. I saw them in concert with David Lee Roth and Van Halen with Sammy Hagar. I also saw Sammy Hagar and his band. We all went crazy with the song, I Can’t Drive 55.
This is one of my all time favorite songs!
There must be hundreds of songs in the 80s that have stood the test of time. I don't think too many songs from this past decade will stand the test of time.
Miss Eddie, I grew up in the 80’s, so much fun, saw these guys a few times, I really enjoy watching your reactions, thank you.
Every group in the 80’s ( they called them hair bands) were trying to be the next Led Zeppelin.
In terms of their sound, you can tell it's the '80s because of the keyboard and the more rhythmic drum work. If you listen to their earlier albums the music is much more guitar oriented hard rock with drums to match.
AAAAWE! Eddie always smiling! I miss that smile! RIP
I was a teenager in the 80’s. Best years of my life 🥳😎🤘🏼
this is 80s hair metal/synth-rock.
That clothing was very popular. Its was the 80s fashion, they probably got there sisters pants, or vest.. Or anything.
Eighties was a vibe...
This young man is extremely cognizant...he knows
VAN HALEN OMG!!!! I love them! 80's girl here! YOU HAVE TO DO EDDIE VAN HALEN'S GUITAR SOLO "ERUPTION" IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!! I THINK 13 MINUTES .... RIP EVH!!!! WE MISS YOU DARLING --------- RUNNIN WITH THE DEVIL --- YOU REALLY GOT ME --- JAMIE'S CRYIN --- ICE CREAM MAN --- SO MANY
agree this song is timeless , no matter what century were in , itll be a likeable song
80's rock was a vibe! Check out Bon Jovi's music. LIVING ON A PRAYER...
I lived it 😮🎉😢😅😊
Diamond Dave.. rock star, dancer, rock climber, EMT, Ink Artist, writer, philosopher, racontuer, dog lover... and other cool stuff
This was played at the skating rink all the time when I was teenager.
David Lee Roth (the singer) is such a character! You should check the video for Yankee Rose that he did after he left Van Halen. The video sums up the 80s....100% fun!
