Right on! Yes. That was also Eddie on the keyboard. VanHalen a legendary band. The lead guitarist, Eddie VanHalen is one of the most influential electric guitarists of all time. Probably every electric guitarist playing today owes a debt of gratitude to Eddie R.I.P. VanHalen wrote many iconic songs and this is probably one of the most recognized. So great you reacted to this and your expressions throughout were a pure delight. Well done!
Eddie might be the best guitarist of all time 🐐 also this song is about a guy that was going to Jump off a building, Check out next Ain't Talking About Love , Panama and Hot for Teacher 🤘🏻🔥🔥
The song isn't about a guy who was going to jump off a building. It was inspired by it. In 1981, Eddie Van Halen penned the synth line of “Jump,” but his bandmates were sufficiently unimpressed as to opt out of doing anything with it at the time. (Whoops!) A few years later, producer Ted Templeman approached David Lee Roth and asked him to give it a listen, which he did, and he came up with lyrics while reflecting on a news story he’d seen about a man threatening to commit suicide by jumping off a building. Somewhere along the way, however, the song’s lyrics evolved away from the decidedly dark tone inherent in that premise, instead transforming it into more of a paean to love. After writing the lyrics, Eddie said, “We finished all vocals that afternoon and mixed it that evening.”
Edward Van Halen (aka Eddie Van Halen) was the iconic rock guitarist of Van Halen... but he was also a keyboard player (He learned to play piano as a kid before he picked up a guitar) ... Van Halen was a party rock band and they were more on the uplifting side of rock music. However, the story behind 'Jump' (which became Van Halen's #1 single in 1984) was a difficult one... Eddie Van Halen wanted to incorporate keyboards into the music he was writing, but lead vocalist David Lee Roth did not like it... He would tell Eddie that 'no one wanted to hear him play keyboards'... Eddie wrote the music for 'Jump' around 1981 and Roth hated it and refused to write lyrics and sing on it. Eddie apparently went to Gene Simmons of Kiss in 1982 and confided in him that Van Halen was likely breaking up because David Lee Roth was driving him crazy w/ his demands... Gene heard the music for 'Jump' and was very impressed; he encouraged Eddie to work it out in Van Halen and persist on recording it... The situation in Van Halen was problematic w/ egos, as well as drug and alcohol abuse in the band. Van Halen were recording the '1984' album and Eddie insisted that 'Jump' (and another keyboard song "I'll wait") be on the album... David Lee Roth was not happy about it, but he apparently wrote 'Jump' about suicide 😲 It sounded like a 'fun' song... but Roth wrote the lyrics about seeing someone who was in a hopeless situation and couldn't find a way out... so, this person got on the ledge of a tall building and was on the verge of taking his own life, and people who saw him would yell, "Jump!" Van Halen's '1984' album was a huge hit on MTV and sold 10 million copies in the US alone... However, Eddie Van Halen was proven right because David Lee Roth split w/ Van Halen around 1985 after the tour - Roth was more interested in a solo EP 'Crazy from the heat' and hoped to make a movie career... Eddie Van Halen had written a new album w/ a lot more keyboards, but Van Halen had no singer, until Sammy Hagar auditioned for the band... He loved the new music and encouraged Eddie Van Halen to play keyboards. The '5150' album in 1986 was the first Van Halen album w/ Sammy Hagar on vocals - it went to #1 on the US charts and sold 6 million copies... while David Lee Roth's solo album ''Eat 'em and smile" in 1986 sold platinum in the US (1 million copies).
The story goes that David Lee Roth was opposed to having electric keyboards (which were new at the time) to be used on a Van Halen record. Eddie Van Halen (RIP) was a well trained piano player as a child before he picked up a guitar. VH went with it, and made a fun party song. Play this at a party and everybody does the 'jump!' part. Simple but effective.
If you like multi talented people you should check out Michael Monroe, former lead singer in Hanoi Rocks, not only does he sing he also plays saxophone and harmonica, keyboards, drums and guitar... Oh he does the splits during live performances too 😁
I remember listening to this song on the radio when it first came out, and radio stations used to include the 1:00+ instrumental album intro which precedes this song on the album...it gives the piece even more synth. Today, classic rock radio doesn't play the intro (which is titled "1984" on the album). The synths were pretty controversial at the time, since Van Halen was a guitar-based, guitar forward, guitar featured, rock band...so the inclusion of synthesizers (and heavily so) was by some a betrayal, and by some, gave permission to rock fans to enjoy synthesizer lead songs, and as we all know, the 80's had a LOT of synthesizers in them, pop, new wave, post-punk, and thanks to Van Halen...rock. 1984: ruclips.net/video/c0mN7rvgb-4/видео.html

David Lee Roth has a black belt in Karate, so it's not surprising, that he does this moves. By the way, Bisscute wears the same T-shirt, she wore when she did the presentation of Scorpions, Still loving you.
So nice ur learning more about Van Halen😁😁🎸🎸This song came out 6 years after their debut album 1978 & they had a more polished sound. Now you need to go to the very 1st album & listen to the Raw sound of early Van Halen. Ain't talkin bout love ..or ..Jamies crying. This album dropped Jaws all over the World. Edward Van Halen G.O.A.T. ( RIP ) 🎸🎸👑👑❤❤
Finally a return back to great 80's songs 🙂. Yes, that part is very iconic and it instantly makes the song recognizable. Even though Van Halen is not one of my favorite bands, this particular song and its accompanying music video always bring a smile to my face."
Other fun facts...Eddie and Alex are native Dutch and moved to Pasadena CA when Eddie was 7. Both first played piano. And David Lee Roth, the singer, was really into martial arts and that stuff he does he called "Dave's monkey time."
The song had an interesting origin. Eddie was pushing for new musical boundaries and wanted to bring in the keyboards which Dave initially objected to reminding Eddie he's a guitar player and warned him not to stretch himself too thin. Eddie didn't back down and JUMP was born. The rest is history. It came full circle a few years later when Dave left the band and Eddie brought in Sammy Hagar who was open to ANYTHING and Van Valen was reborn with a new sound all over again...
For me, 'Jump' was one of my top 3 songs that defined the early 1980's, the other two were "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper and "I Love Rock N' Roll" by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. Of course that era gave me a billion other songs and bands that were super famous and never stop making me happy but, those three songs were my top three as symbols of that period, even back then, so it's not even like I settled on those three in retrospect or anything. I had my mind made up about that back when these songs were still brand new.
Hello Miss Bisscute Diamond David Lee Roth was the Lead singer here and is well Trained in Martial Arts to his Flexibility !!! Unfortunately he left the Band & was Replaced by Sammy Hager Yes that was Eddie ( Edward Van Halen RIP ) on the Key boards & 🎸 Guitar !!! Unfortunately this Rock Legend was recently lost to cancer !!! Biss this was Eddie Van Halen, God of the guitar, the one who invented tapping and who at the age of 8 went into Jimi Hendrix's dressing room and told him: "You can't play the guitar. You play the guitar badly, I play the guitar properly." R.I.P. God Eddie Van Halen ❤🩹
Please do a reaction to a Real VanHalen song, before they went mainstream. Two of the best would be "Ain't talkin bout love" or "Beautiful girls" Please
Another Fact is that Edie Van Halen palyed the solo in one of the songs of Michael Jackson´s Thriller album, the song is "Beat it", he performed that solo!!
It's funny how the band members were showing such positive vibes throughout the video. And I'm sure it was they wanted to portray it that way to appeal to the fans! And it worked! But by then I hear Eddie and Dave were at each other's throat and could no longer work together anymore. And with that said, the video of course shows features Eddie showcasing his other talents with with the keyboards! And the fans embraced his talent for it! Miss you Eddie 🙏
Great song 👍 🎵 I can play the keyboard parts. No 👎 way can I play that solo on guitar 🎸. Too hard for me! 😖 But, I am ok 👌 about this! L 🤣 L Written by Van Halen, the lineup from the 1st album to 1984. Produced by Ted Templeman, his last production for Vam Halen. The Van Halen brothers were born in The Netherlands 🇳🇱. They had a Dutch 🇳🇱 father and an Indonesian 🇮🇩 mother. The late Eddie said a ZZ Top album inspired him to feature keyboards 🎹 for this album. The album 1984 never hit Number 1 in the Billboard charts. 🙄 Thriller was on top. The problem was that Eddie played the guitar 🎸 solo in Beat It. Thus, he was the problem! L 🤣 L Suggested video 📹: 1 Europe performs The Final Countdown and 2 Van Halen performs I'll Wait live in Montreal, 1984.
Try all the Van Halen eras: 70's less pop more rock with David Lee Roth (lead vocal) -Running With The Devll -Aint Talkin Bout Love -Dance The Night Away 80's with David Lee Roth literally the epitome of 80's -Panama -Hot For Teacher Late 80's with Sammy Hagar (lead vocal) -Dreams -Why Cant This Be Love -When Its Love
I believe the idea here is "Jump" means "why not ask me out - you know. make that leap" from seeing me "standing next to the record machine" and "I'm not the worst that youve seen"
When they were young Eddie started on drums and Alex played guitar. In an interview Eddie said he came home one day and Alex was playing his drums. So he grabbed Alex’s guitar. Seems the exchange of instruments worked out fairly well.
To me this was definitely Van Halen's Enter Sandman.... For better or for worse... This is when I got to know who Van Halen was.... I was a kid, no, way to hear them before 84.... Well, not knowing Eddie solo on Beat it
This was my first VH song. I got into the band cos a girl I liked was into them, hahaha. I didn't get the girl (shocker), but I discovered a cool band.
The singer, David Lee Roth was a martial artist, he studied Kenjutsu since he was 12, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and Kenpo karate (which I also studied). That explains his kicks.
😢eddie van Halen was a guitar genius but orginally learnt his music on keyboards. David Lee Roth went on to have a successful Solo career check out his song California Girls
This was actually kind of controversial with VH fans. A lot of people didn't want keyboards in VH and said they "sold out". Turned out to be a huge hit!
The whole song is essentially a pick-up line; David Lee Roth is singing from the perspective of a guy in a bar hoping the girl goes for him; ie: jumps at the opportunity, takes the risk etc. "I ain't the worse that you've seen" as he says in the song
You should check out the tribute song Wolfgang Van Halen (son of Eddie) did for his father with his band Mammoth called Distance. Wolfgang toured with Van Halen for quite awhile and played all parts of the band at one point or another, he's very talented.
Definitely a first to hear Dave's voice described as "beautiful" but the fun, spirit & energy of the song can have that effect, I suppose. And for almost 40 years, I've been trying to figure out what he's doing with the mic stand on his butt there at the end but it always cracks me up 😂
The only thing that would have made this whole reaction better. Is if you would have been dancing around in a thong bikini !😅 Hahaha ! Keep up the good work little one !

Eddie, the greatest guitarist of his generation and arguably a top five all time guitarist, initially learned to play the piano and later, the guitar. Amazingly, he never learned to read music. He learned to play by watching others and being able to mimic note from records he listened to. Further, eddie came up with the music for this song which the studios didn't like because they didn't believe a rock song led by a synthesizer would sell. Eddie convinced david lee roth to write the lyrics and the song ended up as the band's biggest hit at that time.
The Van Halen brothers Eddie (guitar/keyboard) and Alex (drums) went 1-2 in a junior piano contest for the State of California. There were 5000 contestants. Pure talent, insert singer and voila! Really, the sum of all parts though, like all the great bands.
An awesome song to hear at sporting events. Definitely one of my favorites cause of the synth. I recommend Right Now, Feel Your Love Tonight, and Hot for Teacher. Great reaction Biss!! ❤🔥🤘👏
In regards to the lyric "Jump." David Lee Roth- who wrote the lyrics- in an interview states it's about taking a chance & also getting the girl. Also, David Lee Roth, the singer, has trained in martial arts since he was a young kid so that's where you are seeing his flexibility from.
Jump means, jump off a building. Roth has gone on record saying this song was inspired by a news story he saw about a man commiting suicide by jumping off a building.
The song is about a man trying to convince an old girlfriend to sleep with him, jump means to just take a chance and go for it, as in, jump at the chance.
@@nocalsteve From his own lips. Roth remembered a news item from the night before about a suicidal jumper. Roth joked to Larry that an onlooker probably shouted, "Go ahead and jump". The line fitted the music. Roth imagined the jumper thinking, "Yeah, might as well jump." Larry laughed.

David Lee Roth was not happy about it, but he apparently wrote 'Jump' about suicide 😲 It sounded like a 'fun' song... but Roth wrote the lyrics about seeing someone who was in a hopeless situation and couldn't find a way out... so, this person got on the ledge of a tall building and was on the verge of taking his own life, and people who saw him would yell, "Jump!"
Van Halen's '1984' album was a huge hit on MTV and sold 10 million copies in the US alone...
And yes the song is iconic, if you only know ONE Van Halen song, it's probably Jump.
R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen, God bless you. Q.E.P.D. Eddie Van Halen, Dios te bendiga.
It was a huge hit, so yes, iconic. 👍Arguably the song of the 1980s. Really sums up the feel of the decade.
Fun fact, they spent more on beer than they spent on making the video. David Lee Roth ( the lead singer ) is a black belt in karate.
Recommend: Glad you are liking Van Halen. They have a lot of great songs during the David Lee Roth time. I hope you check out the Sammy Hagar period with the band. I recommend Dreams. Live HD performance just released in Nov. on their website. 😊😊❤❤
David Lee Roth has a black belt in Karate, so it's not surprising, that he does this moves.
By the way, Bisscute wears the same T-shirt, she wore when she did the presentation of Scorpions, Still loving you.
Eddie was one of the best guitarists ever...
The day that Eddie died, it killed a small part of me. He was truly a one of a kind.
This is the sound of the 1980s. It's been my time.
Unfortunately he left the Band & was Replaced by Sammy Hager
Yes that was Eddie ( Edward Van Halen RIP ) on the Key boards & 🎸 Guitar !!!
Unfortunately this Rock Legend was recently lost to cancer !!! He was considered to be one of the Best Guitar players in the world 🌎 & was I believe also classicly trained His Brother Alex is on the Drums.😊
One of the greatest songs to come out of the 80's, I wish I could go back
Rest in Peace Eddie - You gave us guitarist´s so much ...............
This song is just iconic ! 🙏🤘
Biss this was Eddie Van Halen, God of the guitar, the one who invented tapping and who at the age of 8 went into Jimi Hendrix's dressing room and told him: "You can't play the guitar. You play the guitar badly, I play the guitar properly." R.I.P. God Eddie Van Halen ❤🩹
all time classic! ♥
Fun song can u react 2 aretha franklin aint no way(1968)go to tatanmorenor
Please do a reaction to a Real VanHalen song, before they went mainstream. Two of the best would be "Ain't talkin bout love" or "Beautiful girls" Please
Great reaction to Jump one of the best Van Halen albums. David Lee Roth was the perfect front man. Nice video!
I saw them in 1980. I was in front of Eddie right up against the stage. It was an excellent concert.
Eddie started as a concert pianist as a young kid, both him and his brother. David studied marshal arts
David Lee Roth is an extremely underrated vocalist
He was a great front man. Super charismatic and energetic.. Yeaahhh.
Oh yes you are correct Biss. This song is very very iconic indeed! It makes you wanna jump, right?
Right off a building. This song was inspired by a man who was trying to commit suicide.
Great song 👍 🎵 I can play the keyboard parts. No 👎 way can I play that solo on guitar 🎸. Too hard for me! 😖 But, I am ok 👌 about this! L 🤣 L
Written by Van Halen, the lineup from the 1st album to 1984.
Suggested video 📹: 1 Europe performs The Final Countdown and 2 Van Halen performs I'll Wait live in Montreal, 1984.
Try all the Van Halen eras:
70's less pop more rock with David Lee Roth (lead vocal)
-Running With The Devll
-Aint Talkin Bout Love
-Dance The Night Away
80's with David Lee Roth literally the epitome of 80's
-Panama
-Hot For Teacher
Late 80's with Sammy Hagar (lead vocal)
-Dreams
-Why Cant This Be Love
-When Its Love
The recognizable notes is Eddie Van Halen introducing the electric piano to the Rock scene
I believe the idea here is "Jump" means "why not ask me out - you know. make that leap" from seeing me "standing next to the record machine" and "I'm not the worst that youve seen"
Van Halen’s Debut Album changed Rock Music forever. Amazing Vocals & a Frontman’s Frontman in David Lee Roth. Top 3 Guitarist in Eddie Van Halen
3:41 Eddie Van Halen. Greatest of the greats. RIP
When they were young Eddie started on drums and Alex played guitar. In an interview Eddie said he came home one day and Alex was playing his drums. So he grabbed Alex’s guitar. Seems the exchange of instruments worked out fairly well.
That's crazy how that led to Eddie being one of the greatest guitarist if not the greatest and Alex had the best and most iconic snare ever imo.
I was born in 89 i grew up on this kind of stuff thanks to my mom and uncles that knew great music
I seen them once awesome!! Eddie is a great guitarist!!
😂 This song gives me the feeling of going back to 30 years ago, when I was 20 years old
To me this was definitely Van Halen's Enter Sandman....
The lyrics are an expression of "jumping" into life, love, action...etc. "Go ahead and jump. Jump!"
The singer, David Lee Roth was a martial artist, he studied Kenjutsu since he was 12, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and Kenpo karate (which I also studied). That explains his kicks.
Fun seeing the different costume changes throughout the video.
😢eddie van Halen was a guitar genius but orginally learnt his music on keyboards.
David Lee Roth went on to have a successful Solo career check out his song
California Girls
This was actually kind of controversial with VH fans. A lot of people didn't want keyboards in VH and said they "sold out". Turned out to be a huge hit!
This song kind of hides the genius of Eddie's guitar. Biggest hit that shows it off is "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love." Totally unique sound.
Check out “The Classic Rock Show” and their cover of this and eruption, Pete Thorn pulls off a great EVH.
Incredibly cool song for driving. Empty highway, and give in.
Definitely a first to hear Dave's voice described as "beautiful" but the fun, spirit & energy of the song can have that effect, I suppose. And for almost 40 years, I've been trying to figure out what he's doing with the mic stand on his butt there at the end but it always cracks me up 😂
Great reaction. I iconic song for sure. Now do David Bowie's JUMP THEY SAY to kind of carry on the theme
Greatest song from the album 1984!
The most fun song in the history of music!..
It would be great if you checked out more songs from his first albums, you already heard Eruption which was Eddie's solo
The only thing that would have made this whole reaction better. Is if you would have been dancing around in a thong bikini !😅 Hahaha ! Keep up the good work little one !
There is a great interview with Eddie about the brothers Zocalo town Square posted it. It's a fascinating story.
That man is one of the Greatest guitarist of all time. That’s Eddie Van Halen. Come on you need learn your history. Top five bands of all time in my book.
A great song with bluesy undertones to react to is "Ice Cream Man" by Van Halen.

Sometimes *Bisscute* gets her groove on in the chair dance was hoping we got her to do the *David Lee Roth JUMP LOL*
The Van Halen brothers Eddie (guitar/keyboard) and Alex (drums) went 1-2 in a junior piano contest for the State of California. There were 5000 contestants. Pure talent, insert singer and voila! Really, the sum of all parts though, like all the great bands.
David Lee Roth left the music business to became a Paramedic ,what a change. 😮😮
Wow look at Eddie Van Halen brother massive drum kit gees Alex!!
An awesome song to hear at sporting events. Definitely one of my favorites cause of the synth. I recommend Right Now, Feel Your Love Tonight, and Hot for Teacher. Great reaction Biss!! ❤🔥🤘👏
Bunch of great van halen to check out. Rather it be david lee roth or sammy hagar, you can't go wrong.
In regards to the lyric "Jump." David Lee Roth- who wrote the lyrics- in an interview states it's about taking a chance & also getting the girl. Also, David Lee Roth, the singer, has trained in martial arts since he was a young kid so that's where you are seeing his flexibility from.
Jump means to just go for it! Dive right in and take a chance before the moment passes you by! Jump!
@@nocalsteve In 1981, Eddie Van Halen penned the synth line of “Jump,” but his bandmates were sufficiently unimpressed as to opt out of doing anything with it at the time.
I never said the song was about suicide, I said it was inspired by it. Pay attention to what you're reading next time.
Edward (Eddie) van Halen is (was) the great Guitarist and also a hughe Keyboard Player
Yeah, once you've heard and seen diamond Dave, you won't forget him. He's one of a kind.
