Looks like they’re using Superlative Arms adjustable gas blocks which are hands down the best. The “bleed off” system prevents the carbon lockup that you run into with other restrictive gas blocks. Props to them.
@@rifleshooterchannel208 yeah for a go to war type rifle I would stay with a fixed block all day. And honestly if the gas port is drilled to a proper and appropriate size then you shouldn’t need it. But if there’s one gas block to use it would be Superlative Arms.

I'd love to see you do a review of the POF Renegade plus. Another company that makes a lot in house, has an adjustable gas block and some other cool proprietary stuff. Loved the video... you've found another subscriber!
Great video ty this helped a lot for me deciding to purchase one of their rifles. By far one of the most detailed videos I've seen about a firearm I've seen. Great honest review.
The next review should be the ever elusive Hodge series of rifles. They have an excellent reputation in the .mil circle and from first hand experience are more than worth it.
@Kyle Wiech I have been chasing Hodge for a while now. Only have seen barrels in stock since and usually go very fast. I talked to a friend who has shot one, and he believes his KAC shoots better. He thought it was a bit over gassed like a DD. I still want the 12.5 Mod 2 because I don't have anything shorter than 14.5.
This reminds me of another company most haven't heard about, Wolfpack Armory (WPA). I'd say this is higher tier than them, but have (well had) the same boutique feel. Your assessment of how Type A will loose that feel as they grow in popularity is accurate in my opinion. WPA has been watered down since the pandemic and gun/ammo purchase surge. I ordered a custom build in 300Blk from Wolfpack around May of 2020. At the time, they offered 27 different barrels ranging in 6 available calibers (including 450 Bushmaster), length, and different material such as carbon fiber. Since then, if you go custom with them you only have 8 barrel options and can only choose between 5.56 and 300 Blk. They are struggling to keep up with demand it seems and had to cut down on custom options to keep up. I hope Type A does not meet that same fate, but again, your assessment that it's likely is probably very accurate.
I’m no stranger to buying expensive things but to me I feel like you get a really good rifle when you buy or build for around the $1k price range...sure sometimes the more you spend they better quality you get but not always once you hit a certain price tag. Here you’re not just getting a great rifle but you’re also getting the reputation so that’s included in the price as well lol
Most of these rifles are entering the price of better 5.56 rifles. at the end of the day its just an ar with a nice barrel and gas system, if dropping 2k might as well get a scar or tavor
I used to work for a firearm manufacturer named Trojan Firearms, and they were much like Type-A. Full disclosure I worked for the parent company managing the sales and ATF compliance and we parted ways due to difference of opinion on operations. But the actual firearm brand was also a machine shop that decided to make a gun, instead of a gun maker learning how to machine. The flagship gun is the “Helen” and is more of a 3 gun rifle than a combat firearm. But at about 5.5 lbs with a 5.75oz BCG, light weight buffer system, huge 3 port muzzle device, and adjustable gas block, it’s one of the softest shooting AR rifles I’ve ever run. Trojan Firearms makes their own adjustable triggers too which are extremely nice. On the Helen it would be easier to list the things they don’t make. Barrel, magazine, grip, stock, buffer tube, buffer spring, lightweight buffer, spring kit. They make just about everything else in house from blocks of metal. I actually had a hand in developing their “chimera” ambi safety, which allows you to set it up for either a right or left handed shooter; so that you thumb the safety down to fire, and finger the safety down to safe with your trigger finger. With the levers adjusted 90* offset, when you go to fire, the lever under your trigger finger lifts forward and up, completely out of the way. I use these safety selectors on all my builds. They also build a “duty” rifle called the WALL, but truth be told. When I left they still hadn’t really done anything significant to make it stand out from the rest of the over saturated market in terms of features. It’s a small company in need of market exposure, might be worth seeing if you can get your hands on a HELEN to put through a course of fire and see what you think.
For a first time gun owners should I go for the more expensive higher profile rifles like this or should I just get one of the cheaper ones? This company being based out of Michigan makes me want to support it more
Savior double gun bags are amazing. I’ve personally used the back-straps and they are super comfortable on a hike. Made in China, wish they were made here, I would pay $300 for a 42” bag if it were made here to the same quality.
$1800-$1900 WITH BUIS, WITH OPTIC using military discount. This build covers you FROM CQB to 600 meters. 10.3" mk18s have confirmed kills out to 600 meters. I built this myself as you save alot doing that. I have yet to find better versatility and lethality in one tool. -Aero Precision ambidextrous lower (best ambi lower out there, you can lock or release the bolt with it) -Aero Precision enhanced upper (best upper as the extra material that interfaces with the hand guard eliminates POI shift when resting the hand guard, preventing inflection on the barrel nut to the barrel) -Aero Precision enhanced hand guard (larger diameter handguard allows recessed supressor or blast forward device INSIDE the hand guard, this also allows more property to get a good grip as well as allows more air around the barrel. You have to REALLY cook that barrel for it to be too hot, all these skinny hand guards are too hot after two mags...) I chose the 15" for my 11.5" pistol build. -Columbia River Arms 416R 11.5" 1:7 P3 polygonal rifled barrel. (Shortest barrel id use, velocity is king! This pushes 77 grain OTM 2500fps! Better BC due to the way the rifling engages the bullet. Higher velocity due to a better seal around the bullet. Sub MOA WITH 77 Gr TOM.) -JP Enterprises flash hider (best flash hider on the market, yes it even works 100% on 11.5") -BFD XL Blast forward device (handles blast up to 7mm Magnum, keeps blast forward which is great for home defense and when low on ground you don't blast shit in your eyes) -Seekins adjustable gas block (self explanatory, best simple AGB out there, do NOT buy superlative, you waste velocity pissing gas out the block) -Larue Tactical trigger (pick one, 1 or 2 stage you can't go wrong. The best trigger for the money, I own $250 triggers and this one is right up with the best) -Shooting Innovations captured buffer system (these guys were making these before JP Enterprises. Works better and comes with multiple springs to tune it. This is a two stage buffer system vice JPs single stage) -Fail Zero Lightweight BCG (best lightweight BCG for AR pistols, you NEED some weight as the lighter ones will not work properly, trust me I went through all of them including the full titanium ones, rifles can use a lighter BCG) -SBA3 pistol brace (self explanatory, this and SBA4 are the best) -Magpul 45 degree offset iron sights (best on the market, made of STEEL, not polymer. Tough as nails) -Primary Arms 1-6x Raptor first focal plane LPVO (if you don't know these by now and hiw great they are you need to move out from under your rock! As stated by a USMC rangemaster, A $3000 reticle in a $300 optic. Really nice glass, very quick accurate ranging!) -Magpul MS4 Dual QD Sling Gen 2 (single and two point sling in one, very tough and versital) Other items: Aero Precision ambi charging handle, Magpul k2+ pistol grip WITH oil bottle Insert, Aero Precision ultralight 30mm scope mount, KNS hammer/trigger pins, Phase 5 sloped QD endplate, Magpul AFG-2 foregrip, Magpul gen 3 mags. @@geraldhoskins2021 they all shoot and all have a standard toughness. What you pay for is extra detail for accuracy and options for ease of life. Just remember mil spec isn’t THE standard, it’s the BASE standard. Work your way up if you have to or save for an all out purchase.
Fail Zero is poorly built junk with Chinese carrier key screws and a finish that flakes off with moderate usage and locks the gun up tight. Adjustable gas blocks are crutches to fix poorly built rifles. As soon as I see either of them on an AR, I know the gun is a range toy. Also Wuhan made optic 😂😂😂
@@rifleshooterchannel208 that’s an awful strong opinion with no facts to back it up. I have yet to have any issues with what you’re describing. The finish has been strong from the get go. Adjustable gas blocks are NOT crutches. Anyone who knows anything about ARs knows EVERY AR is over gassed to high hell with a non adjustable gas block. The only other way to counter the excess gas slamming the bolt back is a other than mil-spec buffer/spring combo. Either way you’re TUNING it. I prefer a higher velocity than wasting it chucking the bolt back harder than necessary. You may like sub par ballistic performance, I on the other hand do not. Velocity is king for the AR so when I built mine I maximize it as much as I can be it either my rifle or pistol builds. These range toys as you dub them are all sub MOA family defenders. They stand at the ready at both sides of the bed. Chinese made, yes but what now a days is PURELY American made. NOTHING! Everything has something/ some part made or assembled elsewhere. Show me another lifetime warrantied optic that can range out to 600 yards accurately within SECONDS. You can’t. In my 20 years of military service I would definitely have run this without fear of durability or accuracy issues. I’m not impressed with your “I mow my grass with my mouth” approach.
@@Spushed Everything you just said is bullshit. Proof that *all* ARs are overgassed? KAC is overgassed to you? 😂 Also Fail Zero has been proven to be junk by subject matter experts, even Instructor Chad right here on RUclips has an extensive overview of why the bolts are so bad. What do your carrier key screws say, by the way? Also my ACOG ranges to 600 just fine 🤷🏿♂️ Not to mention the reticle BDC in your airsoft optic is totally worthless considering it is in no way properly matched to your barrel length with your OTM load.
Great video, a few points. 1. You don’t need an adjustable gas block if you’re running OSS cans. 2. Checkout Wilson Combat ARs. Their in stock, not well known and top tier. They build all their own stuff too.

Yeah man there's a lot of people who like to argue over triggers, handguards, and other components but have no idea they're all made in the same facilities and just rebranded... The same can be said about optics as well. LOL I get a good kick out of that at times. I'm just getting to the older videos after finding yalls channel a couple months ago really digging it guys!!! @@J0n.M I purchased the DI pro model. I would’ve gotten the contractor piston driven one if I could run it suppressed, but since I live in the commie state of Illinois I cant get a suppressor. However the pro has an adjustable gas block so I’m sure it’d be nice to shoot suppressed as well. The muzzle brake they put on it makes it shoot so flat, it pretty much just hovers in place when rapid firing.

Looks like they’re using Superlative Arms adjustable gas blocks which are hands down the best. The “bleed off” system prevents the carbon lockup that you run into with other restrictive gas blocks. Props to them.

Adjustable gas block = poorly designed rifle
@@rifleshooterchannel208 yeah for a go to war type rifle I would stay with a fixed block all day. And honestly if the gas port is drilled to a proper and appropriate size then you shouldn’t need it. But if there’s one gas block to use it would be Superlative Arms.

This video helped convince to me pull the trigger, on a 10.5 300 blackout by Type A. Best decision ever.
Glad it helped!
Hell yeah! More power to us left handed shooters. 🤘🏻
Oh jeez! Another star "drone star" is borne from the dust of his mighty paces and splashes of lead into the harmless under brush strewn about.
I'm sure somebody already said this but Palmetto makes many of their own guns, not just rifles and pistols but handguns as well!
Best up and coming company is PSA. And they bought Remington Ammo.
A lot of people talk shit about psa but psa makes great products most people that talk shit just heard from somebody’s brothers cousins daddy’s friends son had one that jammed, but are they DD noveski or f1? No but for the average man that’s not gonna shoot 30k rounds a year they are great rifles for the money
A gun is a gun but factually speaking PSA makes garbage AR parts. Their AK is legitimately awesome tho
@David Koller dude that’s exactly what I mean man you said it perfectly

Nice I'm glad!
You won’t be sorry.... I was lucky and got one just pre-COVID and turn around was a week with all my options... it is one LOUD flat gun

Definitely seconding POF Revolution and Minuteman
Great video ty this helped a lot for me deciding to purchase one of their rifles.
By far one of the most detailed videos I've seen about a firearm I've seen.
Great honest review.
Another one coming soon
That firearm is a beauty!
I often wear one sleeve on my shirts as well. Makes me an automatic operator
The next review should be the ever elusive Hodge series of rifles. They have an excellent reputation in the .mil circle and from first hand experience are more than worth it.
Would love to
@Kyle Wiech Have you shot one?
Dope thanks for the tip
For a first time gun owners should I go for the more expensive higher profile rifles like this or should I just get one of the cheaper ones?
This company being based out of Michigan makes me want to support it more
Right now play the game that what you buy better be good enough to be your only one

-Aero Precision ambidextrous lower (best ambi lower out there, you can lock or release the bolt with it)
-Aero Precision enhanced upper (best upper as the extra material that interfaces with the hand guard eliminates POI shift when resting the hand guard, preventing inflection on the barrel nut to the barrel)
-Aero Precision enhanced hand guard (larger diameter handguard allows recessed supressor or blast forward device INSIDE the hand guard, this also allows more property to get a good grip as well as allows more air around the barrel.
Sub MOA WITH 77 Gr TOM.)
-JP Enterprises flash hider (best flash hider on the market, yes it even works 100% on 11.5")
-BFD XL Blast forward device (handles blast up to 7mm Magnum, keeps blast forward which is great for home defense and when low on ground you don't blast shit in your eyes)
-Seekins adjustable gas block (self explanatory, best simple AGB out there, do NOT buy superlative, you waste velocity pissing gas out the block)
-Larue Tactical trigger (pick one, 1 or 2 stage you can't go wrong. The best trigger for the money, I own $250 triggers and this one is right up with the best)
-Shooting Innovations captured buffer system (these guys were making these before JP Enterprises. Works better and comes with multiple springs to tune it. This is a two stage buffer system vice JPs single stage)
-Fail Zero Lightweight BCG (best lightweight BCG for AR pistols, you NEED some weight as the lighter ones will not work properly, trust me I went through all of them including the full titanium ones, rifles can use a lighter BCG)
-SBA3 pistol brace (self explanatory, this and SBA4 are the best)
-Magpul 45 degree offset iron sights (best on the market, made of STEEL, not polymer. Tough as nails)
-Primary Arms 1-6x Raptor first focal plane LPVO (if you don't know these by now and hiw great they are you need to move out from under your rock! As stated by a USMC rangemaster, A $3000 reticle in a $300 optic. Really nice glass, very quick accurate ranging!)
-Magpul MS4 Dual QD Sling Gen 2 (single and two point sling in one, very tough and versital)
Other items: Aero Precision ambi charging handle, Magpul k2+ pistol grip WITH oil bottle Insert, Aero Precision ultralight 30mm scope mount, KNS hammer/trigger pins, Phase 5 sloped QD endplate, Magpul AFG-2 foregrip, Magpul gen 3 mags.

Also Fail Zero has been proven to be junk by subject matter experts, even Instructor Chad right here on RUclips has an extensive overview of why the bolts are so bad.
What do your carrier key screws say, by the way?
Also my ACOG ranges to 600 just fine 🤷🏿♂️
Not to mention the reticle BDC in your airsoft optic is totally worthless considering it is in no way properly matched to your barrel length with your OTM load.
Great video, a few points.
1. You don’t need an adjustable gas block if you’re running OSS cans.
2. Checkout Wilson Combat ARs. Their in stock, not well known and top tier. They build all their own stuff too.
