    I’ve got big hands so got the Hogue N frame Round butt monk grip Made of pau ferro wood. It’s 3/4” or so shorter- much easier to conceal and I’m glad to say it’s got a similar thumb notch. I try to get my hand high up the gun and “uncomfortable” as Jerry miculek says haha. When I do that even with big hands my pinky gets a good hold. Will I get this perfect grip from a draw? Doubtful but I’ll have so much practice that first shot will land right near perfect and the following 7 should hit somewhere from pelvis to his face.

    I'm not a revolver guy at all. I sold off my only revolver a year ago. But, I always enjoy watching your revolver videos. They offer a unique perspective compared to what's out there in the mainstream.

      Frank The Tank its interesting how many non revolver guys and girls (there are a few!) are interested in the revolver just for the sake of watching. Kinda cool. Thanks for watching I appreciate it!!

    First of all, I would like to thank you for being a Wheelie Kind of guy! Thank you for that! I love revolvers! It's funny because I am a young guy (23), love my autos, but never was into them as much as revolvers. I can attest to hearing the same thing that has been said to you about people being shocked that you still carry a wheelie. I get that all the time too, haha. You really did help me pull the trigger on one of these Pug Noses. I picked one up, gave it a try, and my God... I can see why you love yours man.. I LOVE mine! So much I now carry it daily! My 340 M&P serves as my backup to this BEAST of a revolver! Thank you for providing a lot of help, and knowledge about revolvers! I have shot guns all my life, all kinds of handguns, and nothing brings a smile to my face like a revolver. Keep up what you do, thank you so much!

      gserrato02 thanks for the kind words and congrats on your pug! Now what ammo are you using with it? Just keep an eye on the cylinder. I am only using the Gold Dot Short Barrel 135gr 357mags out of it. Thanks for commenting! If you want to exchange thoughts on the Pug feel free to send me a message!

    Good review. Just got theirs awesome gun. Didn’t bother shooting 357 out of it went straight to regular .38 special and a few plus P rounds.
    Plan is to just use 38 wadcutters. Something with the least kick but most effectiveness. It’s so unlikely I’ll ever shoot someone but if I do I’m just going to assume 8 rounds of 38 will be fine or else I’m just unlucky that day.

    You have me thinking. A Great video would be how to carry speed loaders concealed. They are not as easy as a magazine. They stick out farther then a magazine pouch. I use a small mole belt pouch not made for them. I put the 5 star bedside block in the bottom and insert them. They also work better on the same side as the gun since you have to change hands. That can create some problems. Its a challenge and I havent seen anyone else cover it

    The 357 Thumbs up - Likes needs to stay, I couldn't be 358...... I've got a PUG on the way, and maybe it's related to my AUG? It's now 2024, and it's still hard to find grips and holsters. Your PUG videos are the best!

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  16 дней назад

      nice - let me know how you like it. I've taken this revolver back out of the stable and thinking of carrying it once again. I believe for holsters you have to go custom. I know Speed Beez has a 'universal' style leather holster readily available that works pretty well. My PUG came with a DeSantis holster that was not good. I actually lost it but it had the Perf. Center logo on it and it was brown. terrible design I recall as the mouth completely collapsed. I don't like kydex but I had been sent one a few years ago and I never made a video on it because it was not for me. I'm sad Aherends is gone as they made the absolute best stocks for revolvers. Good luck and let me know how it works out

      @@TheOl1911 I am really excited about getting it! I'll let you know. Can't go wrong with Kramer Holsters. I first tried Kramer about 30 years ago when I was on the job in Seattle. I'm not crazy about Kydex, but your Garrett Holster looks great because of the leather lining. I sure hope that I won't be restricted to the OWB carry only. I prefer carrying AIWB around the one-thirty position. Have you had any shoulder holsters? That's a whole different world that is not acceptable for me to EDC unless you wear a jacket or coat frequently, and I don't any more. Your videos and tips have helped me and others out a lot, so thanks and stay safe!

      caddilacjim not only that but the seller mis-quoted as the eagles are really for a L frame not a N frame. On top of that the grips are now cracked I noticed. Last time I buy used off eBay!!! Or when its too good to be true.....IT IS!

    Not a lot of options out there for N frames but Ahrends has lot to choose from and their awesome. Three different sizes too. That cutout on the left grip gives you a little speed loader room. I finally spent the 90 bucks cause my 629pc snubby came with the same grips you took off. Now your "UG" looks pretty. :)

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  9 лет назад

      fire1777 How is that 629PC? I so wish someone would design a SL Variant style 8-shot loader. I would love that. I tried a Speed Beez 8-shot loader and vid to come soon on that...but I still use the 5-Star which is not my fav but its the only option out there :( So gotta work with what I have.

    Just yesterday I put the original rosewood grips from my PD 351 (I bought the crimson trace laser for the 22 magnum) on my new 640-1 and they are sweet, a little slim I've yet to try them on the range but compared to the rubber grips they don't stick to my clothes.

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  9 лет назад +1

      amacro11 its always nice to find something that works well! hope they work good for you! I like rubber but yeah it can stick to clothes but they are the best with the bigger calibers to reduce that felt recoil on the back strap. But I'm so use to recoil it doesn't bother me...

    Nice tip on turning the gun clockwise! That has been something that was bugging me with revolvers! You just killed that fear of mine! I don't have a 327 but just bought a Taurus 617 7 shot compact frame revolver for concealment. I wonder what's the size difference between yours and mine?

    Been looking at these grips for a while. Question .. how well do they work with a speedloader and does the spent brass get hung up on the grips? I think it is something that should be addressed in all Grip videos. I made the mistake of buying a gun and paying a little extra for their fancy grips then realized I couldn't use a speedloader because of the cut of the grips and spent brass would go right into the grip jamming up the cylinder. BUMMER! :)

    I use the speedbiz for my 66. I know there are issues with moon clips when you have 7 or 8 rounds. I would use the 5 star also. When I Use the 5 star I line up 2 rounds then drop it in. That seems to stop the movement.

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  9 лет назад

      Robert Hafetz good insight! I'll try that with practicing lining up 2 rounds. Normally under stress I'm trying to wiggle them in all at the same time...

    I have a S&W model 66 with the same grip and I had to sand the left side to get the same 5 star loader to work. I am looking to buy a 327 as I prefer revolvers and shoot double action better then striker fired guns. Does the speed loader work better then the moon clips with the 327? Bob

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  9 лет назад

      Robert Hafetz interesting. The grips seem to not hinder the loader on the 327. But I seriously wish there was a SL Variant 8-shot loader. Someone has got to make one! I'm not the biggest fan of moons. I only use them at the range. I had one clip bend slightly and it actually malfunctioned the wheelie so now I stay away. But then again the moon was in my pocket and I was doing a lot of stuff...I mean I had an A/C on my knee (lol) I recall so that did it in. So...I guess under normal circumstances it might be ok but I'm paranoid about bending the clip. The 5-Star is OK but because the rounds move so much it is at times difficult to load fast. If it was an SL Variant it would most likely just punch right into the cylinder as you can "set" the spread. To be honest with you - at this time I've moved over to the ultra slow speed strip. It is very convenient to carry but I've found it to be slow to reload under stress. But I practice...

  • @Jrtowns1
    @Jrtowns1 9 лет назад

    I recently started carrying a Taurus 85 transitioning from a semi pistol. I find the 5 shot 38 super comfortable to wear so I carry more often. I'm in the process of deciding whether to make a rather large investment into I higher end wheel gun like a 327. I've never handled one but do you think the price difference is worth it vs the Taurus.

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  9 лет назад

      +Justin Towns I think Smiths are in a class of their own so...although I think all of their revolvers are overpriced I do find them to be well made and their warranty service is top notch. Certain Performance Center guns seem to have much more detail than others. Although not a practical revolver by any means but as an example a friend of mine got a 460 XVR Perf. Center 3.5" and when I look that thing over it has a lot more real fine touches and hand fitting it seems than my 327 2". So I think you really do get what you pay for. But only you can decide if its truly worth it.

    • @Jrtowns1
      @Jrtowns1 9 лет назад

      +TheOl1911 I just picked my 327 up from my local gun shop. I love it so far but videos and pictures never did justice to size of this beast. It's a sweet shooter but holster selection is next to nothing doing may have to give lobo a try. Do you know of anyone else offering IWB that will fit this gun?

    • @TheOl1911
      @TheOl1911  9 лет назад

      +Justin Towns Very nice! I don't know many that can do an IWB. You'd have to go custom. Kramer Gunleather makes a holster for it...Lobo...Simply Rugged... I'm unsure if Milt Sparks can do one but you can always call them to ask but there is a 3 month wait. I think Lobo is now 3 months as well. But he makes a great Enhanced Pancake holster for it. Now for IWB just know that fat cylinder kinda presses against you and it makes it tough to carry it that way. Simply Rugged was probably the best IWB as it didn't "annoy" me as much. Good luck and let me know!

    • @Jrtowns1
      @Jrtowns1 9 лет назад

      +TheOl1911 I received a IWB holster from Tucker Gunleather earlier this week and so far it's been a pretty good holster. It's on the expensive side but is custom cut to fit this specific gun and ride height and cant adjustable. After a few days of carrying I can say this definitely isn't as comfortable as my model 85 Taurus, but once it's adjusted to your comfort it's easier to carry than my m&p 40c.

    how the hell you keep the cylinder so clean?

    • @VBH8888
      @VBH8888 3 года назад

      You're not using the right ammo. Look for short barrel ammo with fast powder burn so it fully burns before leaving the barrel instead of having half the powder burn and eat at the cylinder.

      Daniel Watters thanks for the tip - unfortunately I've been had with the Eagles. I noticed on the inside of the grip it says SS8 which means these grips are for a L-frame. Also I noticed on the inside of one grip a long crack. That might have happened under recoil or from me trying to tighten them down when they kept getting loose? The crack was not there originally...

      ***** You might be able to fix the crack with Brownells Acraglas.
