My heart is racing. Not because of the 3 cups of coffee I've had, but because the Pug Nose is back for a cameo! I have to laugh too, about all the guys telling us to just get a Glock. I swear, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard that, I have enough $ to buy another 1911 that they'd probably hate on, too!
LOL - man I'm gonna have to bust out some wheelies next year. I doubt I'd go back to the Pug but I have a few wheelies I don't think I've shown on vid and some wheelies that have passed on. But yes its a very popular statement (or question) from people I meet at the range
The Pugnose... still a cool revolver! Chuckled when you mentioned being asked, “Why don’t you just get a Glock?” I’ve heard that same question. Thanks for the memories! The Pugnose lives! ;-)
Man i have heard that question sooooooooo many times at public ranges and even the private ranges, LOL. Its pretty funny... i'm gonna have to bust out the wheelies again and do some vids at some point. probably 2019...
ugh... well - I do miss the revolvers. I'll have to do some vids on some of the wheelies I've never shown on vid. A few wheelies did pass on though.... we shall see
I've watched several of your videos of the Pug Nose Saga, and as much as I admire this revolver, I am learning from your experience with it. I really like revolvers, and I recently got a 986 which is close to the 327 but in 7 shot 9mm. I'll start shooting it as soon as my moon clips arrive. I have high hopes for it even though I never dreamed of owning a 9mm revolver, but it's a S&W Performance Center beauty, so I'll just take it a cylinder at a time. Thanks for all of your most helpful information. By the way, I also like my 1911's, but as an old man now, I'm circling back to my start with revolvers. Thanks and Blessings!
This is a 1K + dollar Gun. Timing issues? Cylinder erosion? Flame cutting? Back to the factory 3-4 times? I have a SW model 27 3 1/2 inch. Yeah it’s heavy, but it’s never had the above issues and have had hundreds of full power magnum loads through it. There’s a lot to be said about steel frame revolvers.
Welcome back Pug nose. I love that wheel gun and the passion you have for it. It looks awesome and 8 shots of 357 Magnum ain’t no joke, more than enough to get the job done.be safe my friend and thanks for bringing out the “ Pug.”
LOL - its been a long time for sure - haven't shot this in so long. But I still do shoot revolvers at the range for fun. I should do some more vids on wheelies.... thanks my friend.
@@TheOl1911 Did you ever find any other 357mag that did not flame cut besides the speer? I find the pugnose to be easily carried. Thanks for turning me on to the Lobo holster, great carry system for me.
Love my Pug Nose and I carry it in a Milt Sparks. The only issue I have is I cannot get the powder marks off the outside of the titanium cylinder, but I’m only using Ballistol. I will try the Hoppes Elite. Thanks for the update video. 👍
Oh nice what Sparks are u using? I think before my cylinder was replaced i had those marks from the blast shield and i kinda left them alone. when the cylinder was replaced I don't think I shot it as much so.. it was easy getting it clean. Let me know how it works
TheOl1911 I got the Milt Sparks PMK in black. It’s my first Milt Sparks and the quality is amazing. The Hoppes Elite showed up yesterday and I’m planning to take the Pug Nose to the range tomorrow, so looking forward to see how it works on removing the powder. Not a big deal if it doesn’t- only cosmetic. Thanks again for your reviews- I also picked up a M&P 340 revolver based on your videos. You have cost me a lot of money- 😂
I was carrying one of my many 1911’s at the local shop/range a few months ago, and a guy was picking up a Glock 19X. I lied, and told him it looked nice...lol! Someone mentioned my 1911, and he said I might as well carry a Colt Mustang. I asked him why, and he said the 1911 lacked capacity. I told him I had a spare mag in my pocket, and because it wasn’t a thick double stack, he didn’t believe me. He continued with the capacity nonsense, and I finally asked him “ How many times do you plan to miss?” I’ve been carrying revolvers a lot for the past couple of months, and I’m still alive. Thanks for sharing!
Your Pal That story is 100% true, and the guy wouldn’t talk to me after I asked him who many times he was planning to miss....lol! His wife was buying the same ugly pistol, so I guess he was twice as upset.
Nice looking revolver, bummer it can’t handle a steady diet of .357. But with non traditional frame material that’s what happens. I rotate my Sig commander size 1911 and S&W 686 Plus throughout the year. And a S&W model 36 on special days. These three serve me well...
Awesome video, as always. Personally, I enjoy your rambling. Since June 2014, I have been carrying a snubnose revolver as my edc. A Smith and Wesson 442 or a Rock Island Armory m 206, depending on the weather and my whim durure. Lately I haven't been able to find Hoppes Elite here in Indy, and have been using CLP for the 442 (S&W recommends against Hoppes #9) and CLP or Hoppes #9 for the m 206 (all steel). That m 206 is an amazing gun. Especially when you factor in the purchase price. ($250.00 range) Perhaps you should do an evaluation and video on it. I can carry either of them in a Remora # 8CH, which mine has the owb and reinforced top options. Take care, friend.
The S&W 327 seems to be a bit of a contradiction. A short barrel's rational is in its smaller size and weight for easier concealability, yet the gun has a large N frame and a longish stock.
Great gun and video thanks!! Since you like 1911 pistols. Ruger just announced they opened a custom shop. Right now they have a cool 1911 designed by Doug Koenig in 9mm for competition. Also a custom 10/22. The 1911 MSRP 2499. Have a great day!! Rich 🔫🔫👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Still a great revolver. Problems can be prevented by reading the manual and strictly follow the bullet weight and cleaning instructions. Same goes for other Scandium & Titanium models.
Sorry I’m late to comment on this but I saw or read that revolvers that were cut to accept moon clips could suffer light primer strikes if moon clips weren’t used. I believe the pug nose accepts moon clips. Did you ever have an issue with light primer strikes? I’m considering an 8 shot 357. Thanks.
3:44 what does clearing a malfunction with a revolver look like, ive only had 1 revolver fail on me and there was no “clearing” it, it was completely seized up.
Nice conversation piece! How was the recoil? What’s the barrel length, 2-1/4” ? I love the fact that it has (8) shots...I own a 686 (7) shot, 4” and I will pass it to my son...
Recoil is manageable for sure but I know I'm use to shooting 357mag, 44mag, 12ga, 308, etc... so it doesn't bother me. But again 357mag out of this 2" barrel is a lot. You can feel it right in the palm. for the most part I stuck to the Gold Dot 135gr Short Barrel which was fine but still punchy but I think that's the best load for something like this. 4" 357s probably are the most ideal for full house loads. that's awesome you will pass on your 686+ to your son.
Thanks for the video!! How you keep the cilinder sou clean? I cant remove the burns mark in the cilinder :( i will STOP shooting 357mag :( in PR is verry dificult to find the gold short barrel fórmula

wow that is an oldie - no...that is long gone. Those were the days where I was still going to public ranges so.... i totally remember that. they said it was too loud! hahahaha. i get that when I shoot my AR pistol... but no that is long gone. The only big bore wheelie I have left is in 44mag. I could do a vid on that wheelie maybe early next year.
Hey!! I have the same gun and carry it a lot, was wondering how many rounds do you think you have had through it and how does the rifling look compared to you're other guns? Mine looks pretty smooth and not deep. Just wondering thanks!
The people who say stuff like, "Why wouldn't you just get a Glock?" are inexperienced, in my opinion. I had a glock and other semi-autos, and frankly they aren't reliable. Even revolvers jam, but glocks and other semi-autos jam because of misfeeding or mis-fires, which is something that doesn't happen with revolvers. Another thing is that revolvers can shoot after a misfire if you just pull the trigger again. With a semi-auto you have to cycle the gun manually in order to eject the misfired round, and only THEN can you fire the gun. That SUCKS! Revolvers are better than semi-autos. You are right about that being one of the coolest revolvers ever made, but you haven't shot it that much, and it hasn't been through that much . . . though most people use their guns way less, no doubt. I think it's sad that S&W used such a crappy titanium alloy. I would guess it's some grade 3 or grade 4 titanium made in China. S&W should have used grade 1 (medical grade pure titanium) or grade 2 (commercially pure) instead of the garbage they chose. That's S&W quality control choices though. They probably don't get many people who actually use their carry gun much, like you, so they probably almost never get any warranty claims. There are a lot of people out there who haven't even shot a thousand rounds through their gun. To me, a gun that hasn't been shot a thousand times is like a new gun. Until you've put 20,000 rounds through your gun, you haven't broken it in yet. ;)
What where you thinking? Just kidding, not really. I change carry guns every couple years. Now I have a Sig 225a-1 and a j frame. Who knows what twist I will take in the future. Your just as normal as I am. Whatever that means.
