One of the best reviews on both of these beauties I've seen! I was law enforcement for four decades in northern Calif. (now retired). I was a 1911 guy for years (own several Kimbers), but now I will not part with my 627 for anything as my EDC! Always reliable, 8 shots and with moon clips reloads are super fast. OWB carry works really nice and conceals well with a reasonable shirt or loose T-Shirt in warmer weather. Gun is super accurate and is gorgeous to look at due to nice design. The Performance Center (PC) extra care makes the action smoother than snot! This is the Rolls Royce of revolvers folks!
Spohr, and Korth are the Rolls Royce. Smith PC guns are hit and miss, with mostly a good Cadillac thing going on. Smith wheelguns don't even come close to Spohr, and Korth though.
Great look at these 2 Revolvers! I finally bought a 5 inch 629 44Mag and it was an Awesome Experience! I think I like the Blood Work Revolver more because I like having a 3 or 4 inch barrel, or as close to it as possible. Big Thumbs Up! Beretta Sr.
The way you hold the revolver with the cylinder open is the same way I was taught in law enforcement back in the 70's. That is the correct way and I rarely see people hold their pistol that way.
I love my Smith and Wesson performance center 627. It was definitely worth the wait. I did replace the grips with a Hogue. I personally have big hands and like that I can grip pistol with full hand. The only bad thing I have found was the stock grips. My main purpose of my Blood Work 627, is for defense use in the urban jungle we live in today and on the trails. I live in the mountains and it's a peace of mind having it Incase I run into a mountain Lion, Bear, Coyote etc.. I know some may argue a 629 is better than the 627, but I beg to differ. My Grandfather who served on Omaha Beach in WW2 always carried and used a 22LR revolver. In his words, it's not the size that kills but a well placed round to the head. In the case of the 627, it's mostly lethal range of encounters is within 25 yards
I just left Salinas Ca where they had just opened a new gun store called Turner's Outdoorsman. They had boh on shelf, I picked them up and felt great. I love both of these and after a few months of saving I will be picking both of them. Thank you for the side by side
3-4" 357 revolvers are my favorite. Great guns! My current is just a 2".. an eaa. I hadn't owned a gun for several years but wanted an inexpensive revolver with things getting weird. Selection was limited and the eaa windicator fit my requirements pretty well. I'll get another nice one when things level out a little.. maybe with my stimulus check lol.
These are exactly the two i've been looking at and your review didn't sell me on either one being better vs the other......I sadly might buy both. DAMMIT!
Mark Johnson I hear ya. I live in ca and am lucky to even have a ccw. Own 1911s and a couple wheelers but my edc packs as much as i can carry. A glock 27 40sw with 10+1 of hst's
@@Micah1998 It depends on which county in CA you live in. Some counties like Los Angeles it's almost impossible, yes. But other counties like San Bernardino or Kern it is much easier.

Snub/pug 2" to 2.5" noses revolvers draw from a holster slick and quick. The size and weight carry and conceal amazing in an OWB high-ride at 4 o'clock.
I carry a S and W 66 - 8, 2.75" barrel and love it. Fast to target, multiple ammunition options, reliable, comfortable to grip. I also feel safe against accidental discharge. I recommend the 66 - 8 K frame.
Welcome back. I like them both. I'd carry them both. My gut tells me I'd probably carry the BW more often, but during the summer months down here in TX, the Pugnose would be sticky from the popsicles, while the BW would be covered in cobwebs.
Nice video. I carry a 3" 686+ outside waistband when I can, but now I may have to look into one of the snub nose 627s. It's only weighs an ounce more, but you get an extra round, the cylinder is cut for moon clips, the action is tuned from the factory, etc.
Been saying for years... just because those scandium guns are rated for .357 doesn’t mean they’re meant to be shot with .357 all the time. Just like the k frames. Shoot specials at the range and load with magnums for carry.
Totally agree I bought a naa black widow and ordered it with fluted cylinder because I love the look, I'd own a 627 if I could get that done may be my next choice, if you decide to get rid of that I'm local and willing to deal.
Hey TheOl 1911, its been four years since you posted this video but it popped up on my RUclips as suggested content in 2022. I hope you are well and still making videos. I'm really attracted to the stainless revolver, probably due to its proportions. I wonder why S&W chose with the 327 to go with such a short barrel. If they used the same barrel length as on the "Bloodwork" revolver with a full ejector rod stroke I think it would work better and look better too. When I want to carry something different from my past, I get out my 2.5 inch Model 19 and carry it. As soon as I put it on, I remember the early '80's when I was a young cop and it is a lot of fun. I still practice a lot with revolvers and think that for some people they can be the best choice. But you are correct that you have to commit to carrying one. Remington used to make a 125 grain Golden Saber round that when introduced carried markings on the box as a "Medium Velocity" load, but that apparently hurt sales so they removed that from the box without changing the load. It gave about 1,250 fps from a 4-inch barrel, and about 1,150 from the snub barrel,. It expanded well from either barrel and penetrated almost perfectly from either of my revolvers. For no apparent reason Remington stopped making this load, but I got a full case of it and have hoarded it for my revolver. The load has similar power to a good hot 124 grain 9mm load from one of my compacts, which is fine for me, and has very manageable recoil. I wish they still made this load.
This video made me feel a lot better about my purchase.. I went back and forth between the 627 and the ruger 5033 (8 shot snub nose) and for my own reasons chose the ruger.. but then I heard about the 327 and got pretty upset I didn’t get that.. but was unsure about the scandium frame and titanium cylinder.. I’m happy with my purchase now
I carry a stainless 2 & 1/2" 686 + 7 shot in a a El Paso Saddelry "Tortlla" OWB fish scale thumb break holster a lot. I carry OWB most of the time. Live in Wisconsin, open carry or concealed carry State & it's a flannel / sweatshirt state 2/3 rds of the year, so I don't even worry about my firearm most of the time. Like you I'm a 1911 guy. I shoot them the best of all my handguns, so they are in my carry rotation all the time. Usually my 3" Colt "Defender" or a Commander size. Never the full size, unless I'm outdoors on private property. John Moses Browning got it right !!!!
They already have the black full stainless 627 PC, with the 5 inch barrel and V-port, that looks very similar to the pug. They could just add a stainless 2 inch barrel to it and would have a nice compact, low recoil, .357
Glad you are back from your break...your fans miss ya when ya do that.....As usual, you have some great wheel guns there....I always enjoy revolver videos
Exact video i was looking for. Could you expand on 327 model? I'm planning to buy either but leaning towards the 327. Would like to know more about your tips on carrying it.
I have a ton of vids on that 327... I carried it for a good amount of years. I still own it today but am back to carrying a 1911. You can look up vids on this wheelie - i think there are tons today.
I just bought the 327 and I want to ankle carry it from time to time. Do you happen to have a model number or something I could reference for my search? Does any N-frame ankle holster work? I cant seem to find any if I search "327 ankle holster". Thanks for the info.
paul whillock go figure it’s currently unavailable. But you kind of get the picture, I bobbed my hammer and put a set of panel grips from Altamont co. On it to slim it down. What I found is even a cheap ankle holster works fine for this gun because it’s so lightweight, the eight round speed loader in my pocket is more annoying than the gun on my ankle. But to have 16 rd of 357 mag on you is pretty unbeatable. I work in the kitchen so I can’t really have it on my body, the ankle is not my first choice but at least this way I always have it with me
Nice pieces. I agree though, I went back to my 1911 for EDC. it just feels more comfortable for me and it has a lot more fire power by the number of rounds in the mag and the quickness to reload a mag. I also prefer the fluted cylinders. I chose the S&W 686 + Talo Deluxe with the fluted cylinder. It took me a while to find it because I want the 3" barrel so I would get a full length ejector rod. I am till searching n how to make the SS black. It is tricky, but it can be done. I have to find a reputable shop to do it. Do you still have your 586L ? I almost bought it. But her in CA there are some legal issues in having it. The store would have sold it tome as a single shot and then, after the purchase , I would change it back. The other thing was the front compensator on the barrel. When I saw you shooting it, I saw a good size flame coming out of the front compensator in the barrel.
Those who hate a 1911, have only ever had experience with cheap 1911s and garbage mags. Or have never even handled one at all and just listen to people complaining about the platform.
When loading you hold the revolver the same as I do. I was trained by the FBI in the 70's apparently you have had LE training also. It's refreshing to see it done right.
Hi @TheOl1911, Could you please let me know details on those grips on the 327? Just bought one myself and the original ones are kind of too long for edc.
Unfortunately these grips are no longer being made. The guy was Kim Ahrends / Ahrends grips. I so wish someone would come in and start making them again. The next best thing might be Altamont - take a look at those.
@TheOl1911 Another quick question if you don't mind. I'm new to revolver and the 327 is my very first one. Is it normal for the bullets to feel kind of loose when loaded into the drum and shutting it close? Like, when I shake the gun the rattle by moving back and forth. Is that just how revolvers are? Happens with both .38 specials and .357 magnums.

Great vid I own both guns you do an awsome job I think i shoot the 327 better ,I cant fig that out must be the trigger mine is the same as yours better on the 327 a lot smoother . I have been useing a lobo leather holster like the one you have I like it cant hardly tell its there this gun is the first time I have tried outside the waist carry for ccw it is my go to gun now keep up the great vids .
Im looking into purchasing a revolver in the near future....TheOl1911-->What would you recommend as a fairly priced starter revolver chambered in .45acp? I just recently got back into reloading my own ammo(mainly in .45acp) for the range.
konstantinos tsaprazis I think the smith and Wesson governor can shoot 45acp along with 45 colt and 410 shot shells. From what I recall it was fairly priced on the low end of smiths. Not sure what ruger has in 45, but they have good value.
The one I use to own (got rid of it) was the 325 Thunder Ranch and that was a great wheelie but... for me having to load up and unload moons got to me. But yes the Gov. can shoot 45acp. But The 625s are also nice 45acp revolvers.
Reynaldo Rivera it was probably some pencil pusher that told u that......get yourself a dead chicken or a hoghead and take it to the mountains and shoot it with both rounds....u will find ur answer there......357 is bad ass......but the drawback is u will probably blow out an ear drum dude.....i have a 686 plus and carry 38 +p in it....357 will over penetrate.

🔫 (MAG)NIFICENT🔫
Nice to see you back! Was wondering about you. Thought you got banned like James Yeager did. Lol...
well - a bunch of my vids got suspended for some odd reason so who knows!!!!!
The 327 would look so much better with a 2.5 or 3 inch barrel.
Quanto que ficaria para importa este modelo para o Brasil ????
Do you know 640 Pro
Great vid I own both guns you do an awsome job I think i shoot the 327 better ,I cant fig that out must be the trigger mine is the same as yours better on the 327 a lot smoother . I have been useing a lobo leather holster like the one you have I like it cant hardly tell its there this gun is the first time I have tried outside the waist carry for ccw it is my go to gun now keep up the great vids .
that's awesome! thanks for the kind words
Not sure what ruger has in 45, but they have good value.
itmeng copy that!!! I will go to my local gun shop tomorrow and see what they have . Thanks
The one I use to own (got rid of it) was the 325 Thunder Ranch and that was a great wheelie but... for me having to load up and unload moons got to me. But yes the Gov. can shoot 45acp. But The 625s are also nice 45acp revolvers.
good
You wanna sell any of them
8 fire
I was told shooting .38+p was marginal difference than shooting .357 out of a 2 in barrel
What is your experience ?
Asking bc I want to get smaller barrel installed on my other revolver(.357 with hollow points) for carry
That is incorrect.
I need to order that grip for my 327, you have one you want to sell maybe ?
I don't but they are on eBay - Ahrends Concealable Boot Grips. I'm sure there are a few up for sale.
TheOl1911 thanks I'll check it out
