I’m a newer photographer and I just did a wedding that yielded 4000 photos. Between my two cameras and my seconds camera. It was very overwhelming. I truly appreciate this!!!!
Great video. My wife and I run out photo business together and have a similar process, but clearly need to step it up! She culls, I edit and remove duplicates/extras, then she goes through and “checks” the edits. Whenever I cull, I love setting my computer to a B&W filter (in accessibility settings on Mac) and that’s a fun way to make it “fresh” the first and second time going through them. We also notice that when looking through the online gallery there are tweaks we can make. Something about seeing everything in a big grid like that all together makes certain colors stick out.
Hi Luke, you said you are using a reference photo next to Lightroom to get the colours right. In step 9 and 10 you export the photos to the online gallery and then you see the colours are different. I would suggest to set the reference photo in Lightroom itself instead of next to Lightroom. Then you will probably have the right colours at once. Hopefully that helps! Just wondering, how many hours do you guys spend approx. Per wedding on the culling and editing? Just for info so I can compare it to my own, it feels like I'm spending way to many hours culling and editing. Also wondering how many pictures do you approx. take for a 6 hours and a 12 hours wedding?
hey luke, maybe the colours look different when it's jpg/on the gallery because of the color profile of your photos or even monitor. calibrating your monitor might be something to look into! (:
Nice content. I do very similar and in the past I wouldn't apply preset until the end. The last 6 months after experimenting with ai I'm now importing image with pre set. I 5* all my images and as I go through them I just 1* the pictures that are just rubbish 4* look agains seems to be working. I've also stopped over shooting at some weddings as that save loads of time
I get the one program approach but I have never bonded (enjoyed) Lightroom. Have you tried Capture One? It has nice skin tone settings. I am not especially happy with the catalogue features.
@@Gr1ff1D0 Yeah the catalogue aspect is really important to my workflow. And I've used Lightroom from the beginning! I think the first one I bought was Lightroom 5 back in 2013, and I've had no reason to switch. I have used Capture One, and I thought it was fine! I will say if you do a lot of tethering Capture one is incredible for that. Lightroom has been terrible in the past for tethering.
I also shoot z6ii and moved over to capture one last season. The skin tones are 100% much cleaner and more natural as a base. I used Lroom for 15 years and still use it from time to time. I also find C1 faster (on a m1 Mac) at importing/exporting and rendering.
@@michmcgowen619 I have found C1 good on skin tones. The Colour Checker Passport is useful for establishing a starting colour profile. I was not sure what if any colour bias my studio lighting set up had. It is reassuring to know that the generic colour profile in C1 is actually a very good match . For me the test is how nicely the software prints and how well that relates to the screen image. I have had better results with C1.

So glad I found your channel thank you so much !!

Thanks Jeff! Oh that’s really interesting, looking at the images in bw - I’ll have to try it! I know! Something about them in that grid and exported.

What color gamut has your display for the editing process?
Always enjoy your videos, Luke. Thanks!
So glad to hear! Thanks for watching!

Hey Dan! Oh nice! Yes, totally haha not overshooting is like the best thing to speed it all up! Thanks for watching!
What online gallery delivery system do you use?
Sitting here looking at a month full of weddings and sessions, and the tip about a COLLAGE of reference images 🤯
Haha yes - it’s a game changer! Glad you caught that
You cull in Lightroom????
Yep! I’ve tried photo mechanic (it’s a great option), but I’d rather have 1 program.
