    Speakers perhaps have the most effect on a guitar's final tone, IMHO.
    Great comparison, thank you.
    While both cabs/speakers sound pretty good I'm kind of surprised that the TV cabs sound just a bit more defined/clear.
    I've a set of studio monitors that I use with my computer so I believe I'm hearing it as faithfully reproduced as RUclips will allow.

      Watch Ola Englund's AMP FEST! video.. he uses 4 heads and 4 cabs and compares every head to every cab. After that you will see that the cabinet makes more of a difference than the head or speakers you use.

  • @paulanderson771
    @paulanderson771 2 года назад +5

    It wasn't night and day better but I like the TV sound a bit more. True Greenbacks is prob the reason.

  • @myuncle2

    Greenbacks (1960TV) sound better than Vintage 30, they distort earlier and they sound more organic. Normally the 1960AHW comes loaded with 4xG12H30, but if you have V30 instead of the G12H30, it means you have a custom made cab.

      Sorry. My bad.

    • @myuncle2
      @myuncle2 4 года назад

      @@MrPolevaulter ah ok, so they are G12H30 Heritage which has a resonance frequency of 55Hz, not to be confused with the Anniversary 75Hz. My favourite are the greenbacks (in the 1960 TV) and the G12H Anniversary, and now I am very curious to hear the WGS Invaders.

    • @M4USMC
      @M4USMC Год назад

      @@myuncle2Nope the G12H in the handwired stock from marshall are not the 55 Hz cone. They are the 75 Hz cone in the 1960HW series of A and B. The 55 Hz cone some people use, but that would not be a stock Marshall cabinet.

    The 100 logo on the AHW cab actually meant that it is intended to use with a 100 watt head. As you said, it is 120 watt total so it is safer than 4 of the 25 or 20 watt greenbacks.

  • @samuelsalesfonteles

    Do you consider the Marshall cab 1960AX a good option to play Yngwie Malmsteen? Mainly, the Alcatrazz and Rising Force era?

  • @nigel900
    @nigel900 4 года назад +2

    Very nice. I have the 1960AHW with the Marshall 1987X Plexi, and I find it to be a bit more crispy in the mid’s compared to my 1960AV cabinet with 70 watt Vintage 30’s. The 1960HW series cabinets use a unique Celestion Heritage Reissue Greenback speaker, with a heavier magnet, 30 watts, and 55 Hz frequency range instead of the standard 75 Hz range.

  • @Myself6M
    @Myself6M 3 месяца назад

    The handwired have the g12h30 55hz. Which is actually the high power version of a Greenback and made in UK. This is the speaker that Hendrix used btw. It's virtually the same speaker with the G12m25 Greenback but with the h=heavy magnet, where m=medium magnet. Only Hendrix and a few others perfered the g12h30 over the standard g12m25 Greenback. This is why people call only the g12m25 Greenback, whereas their both Greenback with different magnets.

    Hello Elmo, actually a better comparison would have been the Marshall 1960AX. It is also loaded with G12M-25 speakers like the 1960TV, but the cabinet dimensions are the same as the 1960AHW. Another thing to bare in mind is the the G12H-30 speakers are the 55hrz (bass) version as well as being aged. The G12M-25 speakers in the 1960AX & 1960TV are the 75hrz version. Note that the G12M-25 are available from Celestion in a 55hrz version. Personally I prefer a combination of both. It's Magick!!!

    i have the ahw and dont really like it, but you made it sound good. I thought the 30w green backs would be like the the 25w but just with tighter bass. I was very wrong in that assumption.
