Good point! what ever happened to choice? If it was free i could understand that you pay by means of tracking etc, but paid software should not demand a user account to use it
Though my start-up screen was slightly different (HP Pavillion 2022 H22 build) I couldn't believe how easy your technique was. I didn't have to use the Command screen and type in a string of commands and variables, or other work-arounds.I didn't have to disconnect my Wifi, either. I've tried a different technique a couple months ago on a different Windows 11 computer and it was a bit more complicated. Yours was a breeze. Thank you!

Works. HP laptop has no Ethernet port. Wifi was connected and Airplane mode wouldn't disable. The little dude at the bottom right wouldn't bring up the settings screen to disable wifi ether. this worked for me. Thanks!

Hi, Mike. I always use my Microsoft Account because I have my Windows product key associated with it. I’ve had three different motherboards in my current system and have yet had any problem getting Windows activated.
Haha I wonder who wrote that into the software lol I use my msoft acct because the activation code is attached, even after changing hardware it simply asked if been changes to said hardware and sorted. Thanks for the tuition Mike and Kath👍😎

it is a bad thing or a good thing, it is about choice. not logging in gives privacy, and the logging in allows easier data syncing so it is swing s and roundabouts. but ultimately it is about choice and not being forced into something

If you install 'Windows11' on a local account from scratch, without the regular Windows, does this wipe off all the pre-installed programs that come with Windows? I ask cos a lot of vids show the 'Windows Icon pop-up window' after, that only has 'Settings' & one other on that pop-up. Thanks in advance! 👍

Didn't work for me. They slapped the page again, after the 'ooops' warning. Had to install with MS account and then, from the Settings, choose option to create local account, which went ok - after that stupid warning about W11 not working so beautifully without the MS login.

I proceeded with the installation and when it finished changed to a local account and new name. But the default user folder kept the automatic name, from 'the first 5 characters in the MS account's name'. WTF? I won't bother to change. Too complex and risky. But I guess the next computer will have the same path for the default user folder ... it's ridiculous.

you are only using it to crash the setup, that email address is never actually assigned to the WIndows install. I thought that was clear, but maybe not.
i get that a lot, but the simple truth is that some people need a bit more extra detail and some also like to learn why they are doing a certain thing, to help understand how things work. imagine these two scenarios. teaching someone to use a clutch. quick method, press clutch , change gear, release clutch. this explains it totally. But then someone might ask when do i press it? Do i rev the engine at the same time? What happens if i release too soon? All these questions can and do come up, and the same applies for the RUclips guides. So in order to avoid repeating the same answers and questions all the time, it is easier to make a longer more detailed video, and cover 99% of it in one go. I hope this helps you to understand our mindset when making these videos. We all have very different needs.

Good tip Mike. Didn’t know this. I usually just disable onboard Wi-Fi or Ethernet like you said. This will save a job!

for my own pcs the MS account is actually useful, but for flips or test builds it is a pain

use the user name no@thanks.com and the password nothanks and it will glitch out and allow you to continue

Windows 11 local version installs all the same programs but doesn't connect to onedrive etc

someone has created the microsoft account and because it has been used too much MS now block it, forcing the local account creation

I sometime create account because it has some benefices in some situation, but it should be the choice of the users really, not Microsoft.

it is better to now use the school or business option and join a domain, you don't actually do it, but it skips the ms account entirely
