this was such a special time in indie rock. Deerhunter are one of the most underrated bands of this era. Microcastle is a classic, Agoraphobia is still one of my favorite songs to this day
this whole double album is a Masterpiece.. It is music to throw on the headphones late at night after a few to many and turned up very loudly.... Sonic blisss !!
God I can hardly think of any intro to a song that gives me such deep emotions right off the bat as Cover Me. Just using that for the beginning of this video makes me want to tear up.
i rewatch this often and it makes me have a fluttery feeling every time...so much love for the true artists of the world trying to actualize their dreams and feelings.....
7:54 - I first heard Deerhunter's cover me (slowly) and agoraphobia when I was in 8th grade on my tutor's Ipod. I was listening to pop / christian rock bands and really nothing else. It's not like I instantly loved deerhunter but I was really into the chillaxed, depressed vibe from those two songs together. Deerhunter's first two songs alone influenced my tastes in music a lot.
P4K first posted this right when the album was released in 2008. Had not loved Cryptograms (and had not discovered the Fluorescent Grey EP yet), but from the first note of Cover Me Slowly on this video I was hooked.
Awesome to see the whole dynamic play out with Cole's vocals on "Saved By Old Times" so much time after the song was ingrained in my mind. I can't imagine the song w/o his spiel. So what if this is old? Microcastle is better than 99% of records, period. Now gimme Halcyon Digest in the studio!
He sat and chatted to me and 2 friends in Dublin in 2015 for a good twenty minutes - we got plenty out of him! And some bottles of beer for the road, really nice guy, clearly just can't be fucked on camera!
Yup. Neither of Us, Uncertainly was the subject line of an e-mail between Bradford and Lockett, I believe. I guess they just liked that title. These Hands was written and titled by Lockett though. And then Green Jacket was also added onto the album, of course.
Damn, Josh really did write Nothing Ever Happened. That's like, maybe their best track. It's historical, it's legendary. We lost a good one. RIP JF.
10 years of Microcastle. Still loving it like the first day.

Deerhunter is still one of the most admirable indie rock bands of their generation. Micro castle is a classic indie rock record no doubt
Arguably the best album of the 00's.

Bradford is ridiculously intelligent and no one really gives him credit for how smart he is.
Rip Josh
He contributed the punk to this band... what a shame he lost his battle with addiction.
Fuga Mante wait isn’t that confirmed to be what happened
@@fugamantew nothing ever happended? What happen yo him?
I'm grateful this exists
Agoraphobia's lyrics are perfection. Watching this makes me excited. :)
The cigarette smoke in the control room. Wow.
He's got some serious gear in that shop - I bet that's a thing of the past.

"I'm Lockett Pundt"
Is this the only ever recorded thing Lockett has ever said?
GoodmorningCaptain Nah, he sings on Deerhunter songs. "The Missing" and "Agoraphobia" are my some of my favorites that he sings.
He sat and chatted to me and 2 friends in Dublin in 2015 for a good twenty minutes - we got plenty out of him! And some bottles of beer for the road, really nice guy, clearly just can't be fucked on camera!
Don't think Pundt sings Agoraphobia, although he did write it?
Clumsy Sandbocks he sings it dawg
yep, you're right. my mistake.
Bradford is definitely the chatty one in the band. Seems like such a nice guy, though.
I felt in love with Lockett in Agoraphobia
this is the most i've ever seen Cox let his bandmates speak
hahahaahaha
I love how creative you guys are, it really inspires me too make music similar too deerhunters sound
That fuy sitting on the chair at 3:23 looks so similar to Johnny Greenwood!
Thought the same! That's Lockett Pundt, love both musicians
Love the Johnny Cash dialogue in this :)
rip fauver
RIP Josh

I assume These Hands became Neither of Us, Uncertainly? Track listing at the 4:56 mark.

what's up with the sound on this video!? really boomy and strange
It's called "Cover Me Slowly", and it leads into "Agoraphobia"
Haha, this is greatttt

Oh Josh
They went with " Searching for the ghost of DYONISIS" Right?

Sadly had to use "dawt kawm" to get past the censor.
#pray4pitchforktv
that bassist looks strung the fuck out lol
pitchforktv stole this video smh
it was all right... I've heard better. Also, I why the heck does that guy smoke?
Deerhunter is the ugliest band.
Evan Nave I would honestly let any one of them bang me to death. Talent is what it is.
why Cox talks about Agoraphobia if this is a Pundt's song?
+Serj my understanding from what is said in this interview is that lockett wrote the music and bradford wrote the lyrics
That's correct.
Rip Josh
