Have never been into electronic music….until last night when I saw Dan Deacon open for Arcade Fire in Pittsburgh. I'm converted, Dan Deacon is really an extraordinary artist! His music is transportive. I'm a fan.
He opened for Arcade Fire? Whoa! I got to see him twice back in 07 and was preaching the Deacon back then. He hooked me up with a shirt he made with a duck on it and used a gratuitous amount of electrical tape on all his props, equipment and even glasses. Definitely one of the most interesting folks to talk to.
I have mad respect for Dan Deacon, the man has a great sound to all of his music.. and all of his songs are incredibly unique and so different. And his main goal is to release all of the fear and anxiety that ties us down to-in a lack of better terms; peaking over our shoulders to feel safe.. he washes away that feeling at his shows and makes people appreciate other people for who they are and what they are as a whole. He has a hell of a vision.
Just beautiful. It's so awesome to find channels that take such care in covering elements of the music world that most might not know about..just....thank you pitchfork...please keep it up. Now I'm off to go buy Bromst.
1:17 I now use the term "I've got bromst" for this feeling. I will say this for the rest of my life and you can't stop me. Love this album and this video by the way, have for years. Just wanted you to know I got bromst
I'm from Montana. We've been getting a lot of love from the music world lately. I'm really excited for it. Part of me wants to believe Missoula will be the next Athens, GA
I’m jus happy knowing Dan exist. What’s funny is this video is only confirming what I had suspected is why he is my all time favorite modern musician, after watching this I got satisfactory answers.
This video was my intro to Dan Deacon, and I'm already a fan. I'm a big Animal Collective / Panda Bear fan, so I think Deacon's work is right up my alley. Sweet studio! Son-of-a-bitch I wish I was a studio (or any) musician. While it's obviously a ton of work even if you're not as meticulous as Deacon, it just looks like the job from heaven to me. Great video.
"for people who are overly ironic and unauthentically adgy" or for you to judge people based on how popular their music/what their audience is/how they dress.
tuned into 90.3 wzbc newton circa 2009 (on my zune) and heard prb snookerd called on my crap phone said wtf was that? sounded like brian eno on meth. now im 33 hv done meth iv a bunch and yeah... im homeless abt a year now. its been humbeling. circa 2009 lol
But the only point you've made is that you make music on your PHONE - So just stop, Dan is on the right track to becoming the Philip Glass of electronic music, and I wouldn't expect someone whose username is a pop punk band to get it anyways so don't expect an argument, weenie.
oh my god >>>>>>>especially people who buy apple products. i think you knew that, but still decided to pretend to be the white knight please stop jumping to conclusions seems as if you're fishing for stupid generalizations to back-up your insults, just stop
why does he look like he always smells like lotion. not the scented kind, but like eurcerin. brilliant mind, amazing art, couldn't stand to be near the guy for more than a few minutes nonviolently.

Dan Deacon makes me SO HAPPY. Every song fills your head all the way up with goodness. There's nothing like it.
Yeah man. What a gigantic sound he's got
You’re completely right! I’m just happy hearing someone else say what I also believe is totally true, and also said so eloquently too.
Pitchfork, please bring more videos like this back. The Zummuto video was also great. No more selector either...

Just seen this guy in leeds UK 2 hours ago and he blew my mind.
So Bromst is what happens when you isolate two dudes for a couple months in a cabin?

A real plate reverb is awesome. That player Piano is awesome too. Dream studio.

Watching this video on less than 720p is like watching a documentary on colors on a black and white tv
13:05, jesus and the christ, that is so awesome.
Dan, you have a great love for nature like your mom. I'm sure she is very proud of you. Xo
Electronic music: Making the Impossible, Possible since, forever!.....

He's a musician of course he's using a mac

What's wrong with him being a hipster if he's making good music? Most musicians are hipsters in a way.
Idk my dad refused to be labeled a hippy cuz he was a musician labels suck the Boston sound etc cool guy all in all
Well if you're running MIDI through a piano why not just use a Nord Electro and you'll have a piano playing that fast that sounds amazing balls
oh my god

Wellllll............ somebody really likes cheeseburgers!!!
Like Animal Collective fronted by a classically-trained university graduate with ADHD and a heroin addiction.
why does he look like he always smells like lotion. not the scented kind, but like eurcerin. brilliant mind, amazing art, couldn't stand to be near the guy for more than a few minutes nonviolently.
Good art gets made when an artist doesn’t want to compromise and knows how to communicate that
I suspect that no one in this tedious infomercial has any idea how embarrassing this all is.
