    Thank you for taking the time to go through this process in detail. You've made it so much easier to understand what tools were needed and how to best approach this job. Your effort to include details as far as naming the torque specs for most bolts and nuts is very much appreciated👍🏼 Can't thank you enough.

      Thanks mate! I really appreciate your support! I would say the hardest part of the whole job is removing the bottom part of the front shocks if they had been clamped in there for a long time, a long scaffolding bar makes it very easy to pry it out, apart from that is a pretty straightforward job! I wish you all the best! 🤜🏼🤛🏼

    Good Job. I may pick up a set of these for my E60.
    You should always use some anti seize on the threads of the coilovers. This will make it easier to take back apart and wont rust as easy. They also make neoprene boots that cover the coilover to keep all the dirt of them .

    • @evosgarage
      @evosgarage  3 года назад +2

      Yeah you're right! I did use anti seize a few days after when I was actually setting up the height on all 4 corners. I had to let the springs settle a bit so I could get the height dialled in. I made coilover boots for my GS300 and every time I remove them to lubricate my coilovers they just look brand new!

    You’re brave doing all this without axel stands - especially relying on a scissor jack for the rears 😂 knowing my luck if I did that it will end up falling over

    • @evosgarage
      @evosgarage  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching bro! Glad to help! 😂 I just lifted the car with the oem jack because it's a lot easier to use the other hydraulic jack to load the suspension before torquing the bolts, when I wasn't using it I had it resting under the car too. You're right, I should have used axel stands👍 I was a bit more relaxed about not using them in this situation because I had no reason to be under the car otherwise It would be one of the first things!👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

    would it be possible to put front and rear shock absorbers from another car on the bmw e60? What car could it work from?

    • @evosgarage
      @evosgarage  Год назад

      Hi!
      I'm not sure if the e60 has any compatibility with another bmw models but anything is possible and can be done if people want to invest in it. Coilovers are very similar is design but the mounting points are usually different, if you get some coilovers that have the correct dimensions for your application you can get a shop to modify the mounting points to match the ones in your car. This is often done in older vehicles, where coilovers are either not readily available, or very expensive due to the car's weird suspension design or maybe just because there's just not many companies building parts for those vehicles.
      Hope this helps you somehow👍🏻

      @@evosgarage damn that’s a pain in the ass, I was able to juuuuuust break mine loose yesterday using two wrenches together for leverage. But my front coil overs I fucked up and tightened on of the top bolts too much before going to a different one and broke the stud off and had to drill that stud out and make a new one. Nothing EVER goes as planned😂😂

    Ohh buddy, those are unsafe. I had them on my e60 and had to remove them.. the rear where they have the bushing that the bolt goes through.. that bushings is too soft it will let the coilovers slip off the bolt.. im telling ya.. keep an eye out for it.. I had to order different coilovers for the car because of it.

    If your budget is too low buy ap suspension coilover it’s a brand of KW coilover !

      I'm not sponsored by Maxspeedingrods. The only Intention of doing this video was to show the process of replacing the original suspension with coilovers on this particular car. It's low budget part, low budget and quality don't usually hold hands together 😂 IMO people that buy cheap Chinesium stuff and expect quality need to have a word with themselves. Ps: the car is not mine, I just installed the coilovers.
