Seen about 40 vids and 100 articles that just confused me into a loop. This was so concise. Thank you
I’m glad it made sense. Thanks for the nice comment!!!
You explain everything so good and easy to understand!!!
Thanks!!
Just picked up some maXpeedingRODS for my Subaru Legacy. Recently bought some 18" wheels (stock wheels 16") and even though I have not installed them yet, I realized that I'm gonna need coilovers to make the car sit correctly. Can't wait!
Exactly! Hope you like it!
Hey what year legacy do you have? Been thinking of getting some for mine
Thank you!! Love the wrench on its side as a reference guide trick! My wrenches are exactly 5mm thick. This helped me so much. Kept getting coil noise and tried adjusting a few times with no luck. This method got it dialed in finally!
Sweet! Glad I can help! Coils are sometimes goofy and make noises and seem to never align properly. But the adjustability is nice.
I guess I am pretty randomly asking but does anybody know a good site to stream newly released series online ?
@Gordon Lachlan flixportal =)
@Jaxtyn Allan thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I appreciate it !!
@Gordon Lachlan no problem xD
MPR recommends 7-10mm preload. Its specified on their site.
Excellent improvements to the civic.
Congratulations
Thanks! It should handle better now. My current suspension is great for everyday driving but too soft for aggressive driving.
Awesome mate! Thank you, very well explained👍🔧🧰🔩
Appreciate that! Glad I helped.
Helped a lot!
You helped me out. Thanks bro
You welcome.
Very helpful!!! Thank you!!!
Thanks
Very well explained thank you
Appreciate it. Thanks
Hey brother quick question!
For the rear is that the correct way they should sit for install ??
Spring on top adjustment on the bottom ?
Very Good man!. Learned alot. Thank yo.
You welcome
Thank you so much Love that
Appreciate that.
Legend, thank you
No problem!
SAW YOUR COMMENT ON ANOTHER VID, SUBBED LIKED, FOLLOWING THE 8TH GEN, SORRY FOR CAPS BROKE
Thanks for the support!! 👌
The manufacturer recommends 7mm to 10mm, that's 1.5x to 2x the spanner width.
Great information thanks alot
No problem.
make a video of showing how to lower it more by adjusting preload.. cause I know the maxpeeding rods don't get that low In the rear
New sub an like 👍, thx for the info. I recently purchased a set for my em2.
Awesome! Hope they do good
Em2 owner here I took mine off because it rode so bad I felt like I was taking flight in the car my wheels would legit come off the ground, so how are they for you
@@huntermeehan633 probably a good 5 k miles on them and overall good.
@@huntermeehan633 oh wow, no joke bro same problem here . I bounce an my wheels leave the ground as well. An god forbid u hit a bump on a turn its sketchy as hell. I took mine off as well.
Hey, do coilovers weigh less than stock civic struts? I have a 2011 lx , don't want to lower it but am looking to reduce weight even if it's only 4 or 5 pounds. When you put them on could you weigh them vs stock?
Yes I will weigh them. But right now I have Megan racing springs and truehart short shocks so it’s not the oem struts and springs but I guess it should be similar.
what type of loser tries to save 5 pounds by switching to coilovers
Helpful, thank you

Two questions
1.Will adjusting the coil over preload to wrench width reduce the stiffness? (mine came preloaded, and I think I might have to loosed the preload)
2. Will adjusting the coil over preload mess with the alignment if its already on there? I know ill have to lift the car up, i seen you reply below. Thanks for that.
Yes to swine degree everything will effect the alignment. Some coils from name brand may already come preloaded. Cheaper brands I would adjust myself. Preload doesn’t chance stiffness it changes shock travel area.
8” is fine?
I’m stuck with the height, I had mine the lowest they could go and one side popped out from the strut body (part that bolts to the wheels) when I reversed out of the garage, I didn’t have the top nuts tightened but I’m not sure why the strut body popped loose from the strut towers
Sorted it out, just had to use my brain, forgot I had one lol
Don’t worry man. It’s all about work in progress for us all
I used the same amount of preload but I'm finding the coilovers are noisy? Should they make any noise at all? Sounds like a got mice under my car, squeeky, when I go over a bump, maybe it needs more preload?
Hi! Just found your video, dunno if you still reply to comments but I need a bit of help. I bought set for my celica T23,. Front works how it should but rear seems not lowered at all, actually possibly even raised. I screwed the coil almost all over in the bottom mount. Is it possible the preload of the spring is affecting the ride height?
It’s possible if you have too much pre-loaded
I heard they come stock with 10mm of preload which is more than that spanner wrench, its about almost 2 of those wrenches. 10mm seems high amount of preload but thats how they come stock, i have mine set to 8mm in front and 4mm in rear on 98 civic.
Mine did not come preloaded I believe.
Yes its best to double check preload and all the bolts.
I greased every metal on metal contact. I packed the pillow mount bushings with grease and worked the ball around.
Hello, just recently installed my Maxspeeding rods coilovers. Theyre doing good atm but the only issue im facing is when the top bolt of front coilovers gets loose out of nowhere even though I have already tighten them twice now. Is there anyway I can tighten this properly so it doesnt go loose again when driving?
It should be a specific bolt that locks. Otherwise try lock tight
@@BulliKid put lock tight on the top bolts?
Yes.
use 2 nuts.
I got these coilovers, I set the damping to its stiffest, the spring at its shortest but it still bounces a lot and is far from static. What should I do?
You need stiffer springs
Can anyone help me out with a problem, i recently bought maxpeeding rods coilovers for my 08 civic, they are the t6 upgraded ones, the rear dont make any noise and ride smooth but the front ride super stiff and make a clunking sound, (metal on metal sound) i checked all the bolts and made sure the camber plates were flat against the chassis however, its still making noise, i adjusted the rears but didnt do anything to the fronts, i just put them on out of the box, any suggestions?
Grease the top hats and that should help.
I found movement of the a front spring after setting preload (this was at 10mm which is 2x the width of the wrench.). It was not moving when off the car but once installed. I found this out when i hear clunking sound during low speed driving straight only. I jacked up car, took wheel off, use another just to push up on the hub to driving height and gave the springs a little push/pull and it slightly moved. Not sure if it's the top section or the lower section of the spring. Any suggestions?
Sounds like you need more preload.
@@BulliKid I added another 5mm so in total 15mm. It could be the metal shims that causes the spring to slip under load.
@@ChristianLikesFootball those shims should be directional. One side is more grippy then the other.
@@BulliKid They look like plain surface either side and that's how the spring can slide around on them. That or the spring and the shim together slides on the upper perch.
This manufacturer recommends 7-10mm preload. Mine have spring bind and make noise. Reset it tonight to 10. We’ll see what happens
AMIGO NO SE INGLÉS PERO TENGO UN 2010 HONDA CIVIC SI SI ME PUEDES AYUDAR DICIENDO SOLAMENTE SI LOS COMPRO O NO
Estamos bien para dinero. Me gusta.
I have these coils. What about the Damper setting for the fronts?
All depends on why you like. I’m a little more then half way for dampening.
@@BulliKid Thanks for the quick reply! I'll try half and work my way up.
@@BulliKid I tried to turn clockwise I can only turn 1 click but if I go counter clockwise I can do 6+ clicks
This doesn't adjust the bump stop, so it's worth mentioning that using this method could cause interference between the tire and the wheel well.
Can preload be adjusted when the coilovers are already installed on the car?
Yes with the car jacked up.
What are the best settings for riding on dirt and gravel?
Ride height Adjustment?
Do you have the link to these?
Not a direct link but I have the link to the website below so just search 8th gen civic Coilovers. Use promo code if you check out bulli kid for 15% off of you would like.
I’m have clunky noise in the rear which is driving me crazy. Replaced the sway bar links and still nothing. Not sure if the pre load my be out of wack?
Check if it’s tight and if the perches are not loose.
Will do thanks for replying back 👍🏼
how a bout the rear? i mean the one separate strut with springs?
I have a guide on my install video for the rears.
It’s a bigger pain in the but to keep adjusting the rear.
@@BulliKid Thanks mate! much appreciate
You must install camber kit, the project will be excellent.
These come with front camber adjustment. The rear will need camber adjustment if you don’t want the extra camber wear. I’m ok with more camber. It gives me better handling.
@@BulliKid ok, I understand a question, do you have a y email for you to advise me?
Do you have Instagram?
@@BulliKid yes I have, que which one is yours to look for you
Bulli kid
I adjusted my coils and noticed the springs have a ton of play. I can move them by hand up and down about 2 inch. But I haven't noticed anything when driving like this for years.... What should I do? This was only for rears
That's wrong. You took all preload from it. The rear coilovers are too long and cannot be sufficiently adjusted for some cars. The spring should NEVER be that lose.
@@bessarion1771 thanks for your input. I've had the car for 5 yrs and never had any issues. Just recently I noticed the spring that loose when trying to lower the car..I'll have to get back in there and adjust the preload. Makes sense on why when I hit turns the car doesn't feel like its gripping the road like other cars I've had with coils.
@@dpz1985dp Yes, I think you will notice improved handling right away.
@@bessarion1771 thanks again bro . I've commented on allot of video searching for help and you're the only one that responded to confirm what I thought but just didn't want to tweak anything til I was sure
ohhh its the guy from the movie "my science project"
Excuse me, what size did you put on the spring so the car won't go hard?
You talking about the dampening?
@@BulliKid yes
Buy some and I don't want the car to be so hard
Well the lower the setting the softer the springs will feel
These will be stiff. The spring rates are about double of factory
i didnt install the rear springs on read cause were way smaller than the ones that come with mustang i set the rear height to 5 and half in and front ones at 3 and 3\4 in and gave mustang a nice profile
hi bro, what do you suggest/prefer preload for ride comfort road,1mm to?
Pro load must follow same guide. The rise comfort would depend on spring rates and shock dampening.
@@BulliKid my spring rate 5k..
shock dampening click 24..
Lower the dampening.
@@BulliKid you mean lower the dampening from hard to soft?
what about the preload, should i just set "O" preload or set to 5mm or something that more comfort for ordinary road.
@@faizalakhyal Set a pre-load according to the video which is a wrench size preload. And yes go more soft on the dampening.
can u lower the car more by adjusting the preload?
Yes but you take Away from how they work.
the preload must be loose on my coilover then. Im hearing clunking at almost every bump crevice in the road. and I went through every suspension component and I cannot find the reason.
Ever find out what that clunk is? I have them too and I'm starting to think its my compliance bushings.
u need to grease the ball joint in the top hat
@@TheWestIsBlessed this stopped mine from popping as well 👍🏽
@@TheWestIsBlessed like the top of the strut under the hood yo?
The same ones you have in video
I have these on my Volvo S70 and have to say that they are soo stiff the Volvo is like a go kart with no suspension. There is no bounce at all, solid. 8KG spring rate so i imagine this is far too hard for my car.
What suspension were you coming from?
@@BulliKid Standard suspension came off the car. Everything else is standard/original.
You also went from progressive oem springs to linear coilover springs. Big difference.
@@BulliKid Yeh I understand all that, but why would they supply the kit with a spring thats unsuitable. I mean the coilovers dosent compress at all. A steel tube probably compresses more than these 😂
I will try and set the preload again and see it that help. The camper adjuster is just there to look at, it does nothing at all
@@mikemack8753 I noticed on mine the more preload... the harsher the ride.
How do I properly adjust height without interfering with preload ?
Did you watch the video?
Yes never saw you adjusting the height of them
You just move the lower purchase up and down there’s plenty of videos online specifically and height adjustment it’s really simple once you set the preload
Where do I start? This is misinformation. To a point it's almost 90% incorrect.
You DO NOT see quality coilovers (KW, MCS, JRZ, AST) use independent shock mounts. Cheap coilovers do tho, and the shock mounts from these cheap coilovers should be used to tune bumpstops (in this case lack of bumpstops). So your tires won't contact the fenders when your shocks bottom out.
You absolutely should use "preload" (more like spring perches) to adjust ride height. The expensive coilovers I mentioned only use spring perches to adjust ride height. In your case, if you concern about main springs getting loose by not having enough "preload", you should look into a set of helper springs.
My biggest point. What happens when you thread that shock mounts all the way up for lower ride height, but then you hit a large bump on the road? Your shock will continue to travel upward, you either get spring binding or your tires will try to go through your fenders. Bad juju my man. Be better
Best $200 coilovers
Do not buy MaxpeedingRods Street coilovers - they are cheap. but if you want to lower your car, the rear will end up HIGHER then before. The rears are way too long and have very little adjustment. A 1999 Miata ended up with lowering the front by 1/2" and RAISING the rear 1" above the OEM strut height.
They are liars I buy that for for my camera and it doesn't fit
I took a punt and ordered the T7 'track spec' versions for my E36. And you're absolutely right, the rears ended up higher than OEM. Looked ridiculous. The springs were too long for their hard rate. They sent me shorter dampers but the problem was I needed to compress the springs far too much (too much preload) and the height was set by the dampers so they topped out and made the ride undriveable. I bought another set of lowering springs from a different manufacturer and now the rears are good.
@@richgit my son had one coil ring cut off, but then had to max out preload, so the car bounces as if slammed, and the only "comfort" is in the seat springs...
i dont know whats wrong with all of yours… for my 99’ civic the only problem was the rear fork where it met the control arm. since its for 92-00 it was too wide and had to use large washers to fit.
So pointless adjustment , static perch on proper height would save time
I’m not sure I understand what you mean
Trash coilovers. DO NOT BUY THESE
What was your experiance?
Its realy tuff spring , not like standard one
Bruh you talk to much
