      You? LOL... At least you didn't do what I did. I put them on straight out of the box and they didn't come preloaded. I didnt even know about preload. Bruh my car handled like shit lol. I wore my front tires down and needed an alignment after putting the stock stuff back on. But now that I have them set it's just a matter of not being lazy and reinstalling them. My car you have to take out the back seat to get to the top of the housing.

    Dude. Thank you 🙏.... I bought some K2's and threw them on straight out of the box thinking it would be fine. My car drove like shit and it threw off my alignment. So I took them off and put them in storage for 2 years and I watched your video the other day because I was ready to give them another go. I followed along with you, and I set my preload. My car rides like a dream bro. And I went to get an alignment done directly after. I will make my own video for my channel using the K2's I put on and I'll be sure to mention you if you are ok with that. I copied a link to the video and posted it in a FB group because another guy is basically trying to learn as well. Thanks bro.

    This is correct, but this would mean you would have to disconnect the bottom bolt every time you want to make an adjustment.
    The correct way is to turn the top collar to the left to lower and turn the bottom collar to the right to raise, of course you have to loosen the locking collar first to make adjustments.

  • @boost331
    @boost331 2 года назад +9

    Preload is correct but Nobody ever sets their ride height by taking the lower mount off and spinning the whole tube. With the coil over fully installed you simply spin both of the upper lock collars at the same time. That will thread the entire unit in or out of the tube body. Then lock in the lower collar.

    • @jeffroberts2279
      @jeffroberts2279 16 часов назад

      Uh, that’s completely wrong bud. You don’t touch the spring collar at all. You loosen lower collar and spin bottom perch for desired height.

    • @boost331
      @boost331 16 часов назад

      @@jeffroberts2279 When the 2 collars are locked together you can use the wrench to "tighten" the upper collar. Because it is locked together with the force from the bottom collar it will thread the entire tube in and out of the mount. The same works in the opposite direction.

      Umm once the coil overs are installed it is impossible to turn the bottom part, you will have to turn the collars. So I guess his method of adjusting the height is you have to remove the whole coil over. What if you want to adjust the height a year later without having to remove the whole damn thing? You would have to use the top part

    • @That_Bearded_Mechanic
      @That_Bearded_Mechanic 3 года назад +5

      1: Unlock bottom small perch
      2: Unbolt the bottom bolts from knuckle/ hub assembly
      3: Remove coil-over from the bottom knuckle/ hub assembly
      4: Spin the lower shock counter or clockwise to adjust height
      5: Install back to knuckle/ hub assembly
      6: Install bolts
      7: Lock lower collar
      Not a hard concept at all. Too much work? Get lowering springs.

    If your preload is loose will you get that clunking sound every time you hit a bump?

      Can you tighten preload to get a stiffer ride. I’m putting in some coil overs and found reviews on the brand that they don’t seem to ride stiff enough. My first thought was they need to tighten pre load. This is my first journey into coil overs and building a weekend fun car/moderate track car

    So does preload change how much the car bounces up and down when you riding?

      I believe thats where the damping adjustments come in for the coilovers with that option, not 100% sure though....

    Can you do a preload while it’s on the car mounted or do you have to unmounted it

      Eugene Watson just raise the car and take off the wheel, but is harder... literally.

    Will I be able to set the preload even though the coils are attached on the car?

    Yo! Can you make a video explanation how to adjust REAR coilovers to make it my car low AF! 😊 thankyou

    • @MrRobear
      @MrRobear  5 лет назад

      Front and Rear adjust height pretty much the same way. It is just the knuckle or arm that it connects to , that looks different.

    With that pre load how low of a drop is it I don't want to go to low I want at least 1or 2 inches gap between the tire and finder?

    • @MrRobear
      @MrRobear  7 лет назад

      The pre-load will not affect the height. If you follow the video, it shows how to set pre-load first, then adjust height from bottom fork or knuckle. I hope that helps
