I grew up on these guys. They far more talented than some people give them credit for. One of the hardest working bands in Rock-N-Roll
100 per cent agree
Yes. Arguably the best ever.
people like to bash them coz they know how to have fun, but they have the best rhythms consistently
Paul Stanley might be one of the greatest songwriters in his era….
Yes! 100%
One thing about KISS is that really all their songs are about celebrating life,no doom and gloom.
Always uplifting.
I'm guessing you've never paid attention to the lyrics of Detroit Rock City.
From this era of KISS I really like songs like "Hide your heart" and "Domino"
Domino is a must, especially since Jay loves Gene so much. Domino is one of Gene's best songs for sure
@@jamesmorrison7692 I think "we are one" is genes best writing, but "domino" is a great song as well.
I always preferred the non make up era the music just does it for me
Great song. Best Kiss lineup
The amazing Eric Carr. Sadly gone too soon.
Rest in Power Eric
Eric Carr died on the same day as Freddie Mercury.
Rest in Power, Eric
They sound like Survivor here. Pure AOR. Great song. Bruce Kulick is awesome. Gene and Paul added some real great musicians to this lineup.
@@ssRocker-nn3tp The song was co-written by Desmond Child, thats why it sounds similar!
@@ssRocker-nn3tp survivor is a great band too, RIP jimi jamison ..anyone that grew up in the 80's love ballad glam rock era, knows the crazy nights LP is one of KISS' best albums..RIP eric carr
Whether you like Kiss or not, no one can deny that they will go down in history as one of the greatest Rock bands ever. As for me, I love Kiss and always will.
never a huge Kiss fan but, gotta give them creds for their talent level, really were a good band!! like this song a lot!!!
Yeah, this song showed they had a wide acope to what they were wanting to do
Sure some might see it as a cop out (synth rock ballads were a big thing in the mid-late 80s) but if youre gonna do one, then do it right, KISS certainly did that and then some
Rush has stated, when they toured with them in 1975, that you can say whatever you want about KISS, but they never seen a more harder working band than KISS.
Dont care what anyone says, i really enjoy KISS without makeup
Another awesome power ballad from KISS! \m/ WOW, I love the Gene Simmons Axe bass on the wall... very cool 🔥
❤
"Thrills in the night" and "Hide your heart" classic KISS eighties songs.
KISS - MTV Unplugged - I Still Love You. Probably Paul Stanley's finest vocal performance. Kiss in a completely different way than you are used to. You will be blown away. You got to give the people what they want!
I agree, one of Paul's best performance and the band was amazing too. It is so sad not many reactors do this masterpiece.
Listen to "Is There Anybody Out There" from Pink Floyd's The Wall, specifically that little piece on classical guitar, and you can hear where the musical inspiration for the verses in "I still Love You" comes from. Everybody borrows from everybody else, which is perfectly fine, as long as it is improves the overall quality, which definitely is the case in that song.
Paul's best
During '74 , at 14 years old, I was and now, at 63, insane over this band and actually saw them live...what a show!! Great job RSR...🎤🎸🎶
Same Here Fan From 75
@@tommytrixter Great 70s music at that...
Hi. It is little bit like with Queen Elizabeth! She has also ever been here…. Same thing with Kiss! 😊
now I am 62
"Tonight You Belong To Me" from Paul Stanleys solo album in '79 is as good as he can get......in reality KISS was always Paul Stanley, 99 percent of their best songs he either wrote or co-wrote.
Gene stated in an interview that when Paul had written a song (power ballad) for their next album, he hated the idea of a power ballad and that it was too commercialized. Paul sang this song for the first time over the phone to Gene, he was speechless.
Gene speechless...no easy task.
They had such great conversations.
" You write stupid songs!"
"No,you write stupid songs!"😂
One of my friends said that her friend was sitting in the front row of a KISS show, in the early '80s,with her sister and brother-in-law.
Paul said ," How many of you like sex?"
She started to raise her hand, then remembered that she was with her sister and brother-in-law!
Paul said " Theres a chick down here going like this...she can't decide!
You know you like it!"😂
She about died of embarrassment.
Gene doesn't like a song being to commercialized ?.....they commercialize KISS coffins !
The song was co-written by Desmond Child though.
I saw them on their first tour on May 30th ,1974 in San Diego. It was a 16th birthday present from my folks. I have tickets to see them at the Hollywood Bowl on November 3rd, for their final tour. A birthday gift from my wife for my 65th Birthday. To be honest, I'm just as excited to see them in this last tour as I was their first. You two keep up with the great music!
Paul Stanley's 1978 solo album is well worth a listen.
I just love to watch how excited Jay gets when a kiss video comes on. That and a AC DC of course😊
Calling Dr. Love by KISS, that's the one you have to hear next!
‘Sure know something’! It’s got such a great feel to this track. A bit slower than the typical KISS song but it’s a killer!!
Wow its been a minute since I last heard this.Paul has a great voice
Check out their song, "Calling Dr. Love" from Kiss Symphony: Alive IV. POWERFUL live performance! 💯 🔥
Another one they should check out from that same DVD is "God Of Thunder"
Paul doesn’t get enough respect for his singing. He’s a great vocalist.
I never heard this Kiss song before. I like it!
Don't back down Jay. Gene Simmons is one of the most under rated bassist out there. I've seen many famous bass players use those exact same words. I play a lot of KISS songs on bass, and really enjoy Gene's bass lines. Also, I knew you'd love the bass, in this video, once you saw it. Great job guys.
I have been a DIE-HARD KISS fan since 1974... seen every U.S. Tour... This line-up (Stanley-Simmons-Carr-Kulick) is my all-time favorite.
Need to check out “We Are One” by Kiss from there Psycho Circus album. Gene wrote and sang it. He says he wrote it for all their fans. Awesome song.
I hope you'll listen to their song "Hide your heart" too. I think you'd love it. ⭐️👹👨🚀😺
I absolutely love this era of KISS.
For whatever reason, it wasn't until KISS turned into a "hair metal" band in the mid 80s that I realized how great Paul Stanley is as a vocalist. The song "My Way" off of this album (Crazy Nights) is simply next level amazing.
Such a great power ballad. Love this song. Another Kiss song you should do is Crazy Crazy Nights
Every one of these videos where you talk about loving Gene Simmons I'm going to repeat myself in the comments. You have got to watch one of their live performances of "God of Thunder." It's the spot in every one of their concerts where Gene really takes center stage (and the area well above center stage, for that matter. Won't say more, don't want to ruin it for you). For perhaps the best sounding version of it, I'd suggest their performance from Symphony Alive IV where they performed an entire concert with a complete orchestra. That orchestra adds a huge kick to an already GREAT song.
Check out I’ll fight hell to hold you by KISS, Paul Stanley’s vocals are insane on that song and it’s one of my favorite KISS tracks off of their album Crazy Crazy Nights. The drummer and guitarist in that video are Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick who sadly are no longer with us.
Bruce Kulick is still alive, it's his brother Bob, that died
@@dawnpatrol700 oh that’s right I completely forgot, I’m such a dork.
Eric Carr.....amazing drummer. Check out their Animalize concert if you get a chance. R.I.P Eric
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Shout It Out Loud"!!
And it needs to be the video from the Reunion Tour at Tiger Stadium. 😉🤘
the version from their reunion tour 1996 and first night in detroit!!
@@jay-bt2lu that was the first night of the tour! it will probably be the first one that pops up.
Alright Detroit, you wanted the best, you got the best!
Another thank you to Desmond Child for this gem of a song. The list of hits he co-wrote with Paul and other bands or artists is simply ridiculous.
Desmond Child is a legend! Dude was prolific for decades, writing or co-writing hit after hit after hit!
@@ps5392 And he is still going! One of his last song is with none other than Barbra Streisand!
Amber is so cute when she's crushing on Paul and his "come hither" looks into the camera. I can totally see the teenager in her smile and know she would've been a great kiss 💋 fan and begging her folks to drop her and a few girls off at the concert. Her reactions are pure joy and Jay's wanting to be in the band. They'd meet at the concert as teens and fall in love... They belong together. It's so obvious.
Gotta hear Ace rip it up on Parasite!!! But the LIVE version is the one to hear.....it has an added guitar solo that will melt your faces. Written by Ace Frehley as well!!! Youll love it guys!! Peace from Pennsylvania ✌️ 👅👅👅
i have been trying to get them to do parasite for a year now. 1975 cobo hall is the best extended version but I love the black and white winterland san Francisco version.
@jay-bt2lu I think he'd like how heavy it is.
Kiss's original lead guitarist Ace Frehley has some good solo stuff. His band,Frehley's Comet, try Into the Night, Rock Soldiers, Hide your heart, or Its over now.
One of my faves, I can play this on a loop for ages.
Tears are Falling track is the best.
We need a reaction for that quality song!!!
this particular song was one of the songs inspired by Paul's break up with Donna Dixon along with the songs "Tears Are Falling" from the Asylum album and "I Still Love You" on the Creatures of the Night album.
God Gave Rock And Roll To You is an absolute KISS banger.. hope you can react to it sometime!! ✌️
"Reason to Live" peaked @ #64 in early 1988 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Bruce Kulick is the guitarist in this song and in my opinion, the best guitarist KISS ever had. He played for 12 years with KISS. Before that, he played in the touring band for Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell tour (he is in the Paradise video). After KISS, he did several solo albums before joining Grand Funk Railroad as their guitarist for around 14 years.
Never bought any Kiss Music, but enjoyed some on the radio. This is GREAT! :) Great choice & Reaction, You Guys! :)
Don't know how I missed this reaction four months ago but this is probably my favorite KISS song! Heard it after I'd broken up with my high school sweetheart and it helped me get over it. To this day I still play it and crank it. Had it in my workout playlist for a while.
my favourite kiss song, love it
Great song, great reaction! As others have said, you guys really need to check out the live version of God of Thunder. Jay's love of Gene Simmons will go through the roof!
He usually does his flying act, before that number.
Fun fact: Gene's petrified of heights!
I think Jay and Amber would really like Extreme - “Get the Funk Out.” Early 90s pre-grunge era rock. It’s been a while since you reacted to their ballad “More than Words.”
Great reaction, to a great song ❤ Adorable reaction from Amber for Paul at the end 😂
Some of their best songs came out during this era...Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick were the best live complements to Paul and Gene.
what a song, i love this one, ive been listening to it since it came out and it gives me a reason to live
This is pure AOR. Like Survivor. Great song.
My favorite band since i was 7 years old and i'm 50 now, keep doing reactions to KISS it's really fun and they have a huge catalog to choose from. Have you reacted to the song I Love It Loud yet???
yeah you can look for it in their catalog they react too I love it loud
@@ericgreen9028 Yes, i chekcked later on and i even remember watching it at the time, i just forgot. loll
Excellent reaction (as always). Reason to Live has always been my fave from the Crazy Nights album. Another fave of mine that you might like is a deep cut from Rock and Roll Over called "Mr. Speed".
Hard Luck Woman. Soooo good! Very under the radar. Garth Brooke's did an amazing cover of it too
Always liked this one. Thought Crazy Nights was a pretty solid effort, really. KISS Army for life!
This song did pretty well on top 40 in 1987. I think top 40 fans didn't realize it was Kiss, so this made it purely on melody, and not the legacy of the band
Love this Era of KISS.. I can't wait till you react to..TURN ON THE NIGHT. it's a summer pop.
Kiss? Simply fantastic !
This is one of my all time favorite Kiss songs.
The drummer is the late great Eric Carr. He was with KISS from 1980 until he passed away from cancer in 1991. The guitarist is Bruce Kulick. He played with the band from 1984 until 1995. You're right Paul's voice is amazing. Too bad he's lost some of it with age.
Eric Carr my favorite drummer I love him
you guys should watch the drum solos ERIC CARR
Love KISS. YES! - Songwriter(s): Paul Stanley, Desmond Child - The band at the time Gene, Paul, Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr - I wish they would have brought back Bruce after Ace Frehley left the second time.
bruce would never ever wear the makeup
@@jay-bt2lu Probably not, but it would have been nice.
Been following kiss since 1975, big influence I will be at their last show December 2nd at Madison Square Garden
Love Kiss!!! Proud member of the Kiss Army
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were interviewed a few years ago to promote one of their many farewell tours, LOL. They stated, "Our music is average at best, we're all about the live show, that is where Kiss shines." I agree, KISS is not for listening, it is to be experienced!!
My absolute favorite band. Saw them 6 times over the years. Maybe 7 here this fall. Coming back around to Cleveland on their "20 year " End of the Road tour.😅
This is a good Kiss song - glad you listened to it!!
Gene has had so damn many badass basses! If you google "Axeology" you have a whole museum of all guitars and basses Kiss members have used through Kisstory. The Gene makeup face bass in Reason To Live mv is a Pedulla bass. But sadly I think it's a custom paintjob, probably not mass produced, and if there are replikas of it probably damn expensive. He also had one of those basses with an awesome dragon face. But I do prefer the Gene makeup face one, that bass is so cool! Gene is selling a similar bass on his own site genesimmonsaxe, The Gene Simmons Vampire Punisher, and it's the official tribute to that Pedulla bass in the music vid. But this bass is pretty expensive, 7 and a half grand. But I think you'll meet Gene personally also.

God Bless the 80's! It was a great time to be alive!
LOVE this song off of Crazy Nights!!! I know most folks love 70’zz era Kiss(Jay)…but I grew up on 80zzz era Kiss….when they took the makeup off, it actually made their music more impactful. Try to react to “Crazy, Crazy Nights” or “Tears are Falling” 🤘🏽❤️🔥🤘🏽❤️🔥
But they put it back on. Lol
@@charlenecross28 yup…and i haven’t bought a new album since 🥸
@@sergiodavila5269 Psycho Circus is a great album.
@@salbro5985i have it downloaded….it’s ok 👍🏽
They’re still badass live tho. That’s really all that matters now 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
KISS unplugged "I still love you"
I didn’t know this one. I wonder how I missed it! There are so many great bassists and bass lines out there, and I’m glad you guys talk about the bass. A bass line that I find particularly compelling is in “Floating Back” back The Call.
They caught some serious flak, (and still do), for this era in their career, but you gotta give it to them: It is impressive to be able to have a second act like that. Far from every 70s band was able to adapt and thrive in the 80s like Kiss did. But you really should check out what their original lead guitarist Ace Frehley did under the Frehley’s Comet moniker while they were doing this, it really is both very original and totally kick ass. Rock Soldiers and Into The Night are a good start.
KISS is a banger band. Jordan being so hyped lol. I agree, this was a banger. Their next song should be "Tears Are Falling."
Right smack in the middle of their Glam phase. They actually did glam longer than most bands of the time, lasting five albums. One my favorite songs from that time is I've Had Enough (Into the Fire) with phenomenal guitar by the late great Mark St. John, who because of health reasons was on only one album, Anilmalize.
Rob Squad, I'll try asking again... PLEASE react to KISS's "Sure Know Something" official video from 1979. I think it could become one of your favorite KISS tunes!
"Good Girl Gone Bad" and "Hell Or High Water" from that album are both great Gene songs.
Gene Simmons is an OUTSTANDING Singer Songwriter. I have a playlist all Simmons Songs the playlist ROCKS from beginning to end. I mean some really. good. Rock songs.
Some people would never believe that Gene does some great high harmonies!
“Forever” blows this song away. “God Gave Rock & Roll To You” is also epic!!!
Lol. With all respect, I have to totally disagree with you. This is one of my favorites. Forever was blah to me. Great band anyway
Yes God Gave Rock &Roll To You II is good.
KISS in the 80ths was LEGENDARY!..
Love this song, my fav Kiss song !
One of the best power ballads of all times. Love 80s hair metal romance novel ballad Kiss. And Bruce, get em!
Kiss - I was made for loving you! RSR is my only reaction feed I go to! Love y’all guys!!!
OKAY!!! Finally Some KISS
Excellent thank you
Man I see this and it floods my memories from high school!! Makes my heart beat fast!!!
kiss also has another great song called forever
I love all of Kiss I have since I was a child in the 70's but I have to admit I feel their best music came out of the no makeup hair band era and this was the best.
When I was in 4th grade I dressed up like Gene Simmons for Halloween contest. Came in 2nd place and lost to a witch. Go figure. You should definitely give a listen to Crazy, Crazy Nights. I think that bass is a Pedulla Vampire bass guitar which is probably expensive
Goodevening rob reason to live splendid ballads of kiss emotion forever
Coach Daddy be all: "Learning to Fly was weak! I gotsta to have some real shit, a 90's KISS ballad!!!" 🤣😂
Excellent song
The white bass with Gene's face on it.. is on display at the Hard Rock Cafe in Tulsa

Hey, Amber
The lineup of Kiss at the of this music video had Bruce Kulick on Guitar/keyboards(in the video, at least) and Eric Carr on Drums
80’s era Kiss is fantastic despite what you might hear from 70’s only hardliners.
Their 80’s and early 90’s output is really fun and while it can be silly and border on self parody at times, there are some great songs from the time period.
Most of the songs from this era feature the late, great Eric Carr on drums. After he passed he was followed by Eric Singer who remains to this day.
The lead guitarist for many of these albums was Bruce Kulick, although you might catch Vinnie Vincent in a couple of the videos.

Gene is using a high end maker called "Pedulla" . He used dozens of this model with different paint jobs in the 80's post makeup era. Just put his name and Pedulla together; there's lots of info.
Yeah and prob custom paintjob, not mass produced. Gene is currently selling an official tribute bass though, The Gene Simmons Vampire Punisher, on genesimmonsaxe. Not as awesome as the original, still cool though (love his Punisher bass design), but 7 and a half grand.
As much as Jay loves Gene, he really needs to here God of Thunder!!! Also classic kiss like Strutter, Christine sixteen, Hotter than Hell
This lineup is considered by many to be their strongest line-up:
Paul Stanley ,lead vocal/ Rythmn guitar
Gene Simmons lead vocals/ bass
Eric Carr lead and background vocals/ Drums
Bruce Kulick background vocals/ led guitar
Told you! Good job guys. Thanks❤
I am an OG KISS fan and back in 1975, I even had the famous "Spirit of '76" poster up on the wall of my room!! My roommate and I were official KISS Army members!!! My favorite band member will always be Ace Frehley and I miss the makeup!!!!
The drummer is my all time favorite member Eric Carr. Who sadly passed away. Im daring you guys to check out one of his drum solos. Particularly Animalize Live taping. Couple other Gene bangers are War Machine and Unholy
this is 1987 KISS, featuring the late, GREAT Eric Carr on drums and amazing guitar work by Bruce Kulick, probably KISS's best "other-two" members ever.
Cool trivia: the 1987 model Porsche 928 in the video was a birthday present from Gene to Paul. They decided it was perfect car to be “fake” destroyed in the video. Gene got really angry with Paul years later when he sold the car, lol.
