That impersonation is spot on. The little things...the hands, the smile, the way he walks and turns around, the posture, the self-dismissive comments....it was just amazing.
Anyone else from this era? I'm cable/TV less for 10 years so my exposure to "comedy" by any stretch of the word are limp RUclips/Netflix variety. Most from the millenial era aren't good but are more edgy in humour that outright funny/absurdist. I'm going back to the old school talk show format and am loving Norm Macdonald.
@@davidziemann9653 I wish I could articulate without sounding like a dumb guy how LNwDL was a talk show but not ever “Genre: Talk Show.” It was Fernwood 2 Night masquerading as, I dunno, Johnny or Merv. And when it came to musical guests you would never see the likes of Tiny Tim.
This was the screen door episode! I remember this. The quirky thing I loved about Letterman was the weird stuff he used to do. He was watching some home improvement show and was amazed on how simple it was to make screen doors, so he had the guy from the show come on and they made screen doors! I also loved this segment. He does a perfect Paul Schaefer😂
Chris Elliott is hilarious in pretty much everything. Just saw him in a rerun of Everybody Loves Raymond (which was produced by Letterman's company), where he plays the weird brother-in-law Peter. Very funny
------------------ thanks4sharing.....close enough to count ....Chris earned his keep .....plus Paul was mellow , as usual... about it ....where did dancing girls go....

Chris Elliott is a comic genius and an American treasure.
Damn right.
His dad used to have a HILARIOUS dry humor comedy routine.
Agreed. Just imagine if he'd stayed longer with Dave, or even for most of the run.
Him and Gerard Mulligan were such a funny duo on Letterman
Pretty much the only funny part of Scary Movie 2. 😂
@@profoundwanderer1441 I haven't seen that and didn't know that Chris is in it. Definitely will have to check it out.
Remember watching this as a young person, and completely on the floor, couldn't get my breath. pure gold.
I'm really hoping that with all the Chris Elliott bits being posted that we finally get his staff favorite moments
Chris Elliott has always been a stone cold comedy killer.

Part of the era when every damn night the show was in its wheelhouse.
Now there is Jimmy Kimmel and Fallon. Quite a drop. No wonder nobody cared when the writers were on strike.

@@davidziemann9653 Kimmel makes me laugh. Consistently the best monologue of the remaining hosts. Fallon is “Barney for adults.”

my all time favorite Elliott routine was the guy under the stairs.
One of my all time favorite bits!
I loved Get A Life. Great sitcom in the early 90s with Chris Elliott. Unfortunately it only lasted 2 seasons.
If you are a real Chris Elliott fan, you must have seen Cabin Boy!!! Haha
@@milart12 yes!!! And i also loved him on The King of Queens. He played 2 different characters on TKOQ and both were awesome.
Nice to see Paul's twin brother Chris standing in for Paul.
The genius of Chris is the ability to make people cringe, he’s a master in his craft 😂
Yes, but this was not a cringe performance. This was a master class on impressions, and he was SPOT on.
The attention to detail is off the charts for this skit. Chris knocked it out of the park with this impression of Paul.

It's the thumbs up with the OK!
…the universal sign of appreciation in Vegas
@@TiltBrookThat’s all it is… The thumbs up with the OK 👍 👌
Perfect, Chris. I loved this show so much when it was on. And still do now, thanks to RUclips.
3:20 Hulk Hogan reference, and 3:59 Andre The Giant reference… This episode was 3/25/87… Four days before WrestleMania III 3/29/87
Chris Elliot’s Paul Shaffer was great! His Fugitive/Regulator/New Regulator Guy skits were a riot!
One of the best impressions I've seen probably ever
This IS the BEST Fan Request EVER
Paul Shafer...excellent musician! Played with MANY musicians.
Source?
Wow! Chris really did an excellent Paul Shaffer impression. Wow!
I like Will Sasso's Paul Shaffer impression, too.

Fun fact: When Paul returns at the end, you can see him subtly giving the finger.
Thank you!
@@weldongrisham9463 Yup. Index finger is straight also.
Nah
The universal sign of unappreciation? :p
Hard negative on that.
I need the “Marv Albert” skit where he gifted Dave the chocolate football helmet, idk if I’ve ever seen Dave laugh harder.
I hear the full Chris as Marv compilation is on another channel.
Bite me.
You don't see it onscreen, but Dave's reaction to Chris' "Long Hot Summer" trailer is pretty good.
That’s hilarious. What a talent he is and what good times we had.
Chris Elliott was awesome
One of the best ever talk shows.
*The* best
@@MattTee1975 true.
Chris does his voice perfectly I couldn’t tell it was the real Paul until I saw him talking
Finally - you posted it!!!!
My 16yr old self would stay up to watch Letterman all of the time, late night television now is unwatchable.
Jimmy Kimmel is great
@@AUTOPSY666I like watching him cry after elections😂..........he is funny, but its an election and he cries on air....to me unwatchable.
Miss this kind of genius humor each night. There is nothing like it on the air these days!
I love when Dave can barely contain himself. This is a pure delight. Also shout out to Ahmad (not shown)!
LMFAO as soon as I put this on the imitation was nailed, thats really good hahaaa
Chris nailed it!
Nailed it
the impression is dead on lol 🤣
the good times of our lives. thank you guys.
I didn't see Chris in this sketch - maybe they uploaded the wrong one? Paul changed his shirt for some reason, which was funny
Who was that guy trying to imitate Paul Shaffer at the end?
gotta love Chris
This is great.
"These pipes...are CLEAN!!!"
And how!
I was looking away at the end and thought I was still listening to Chris. Hilarious imitation.
PERFECT
I’m going to start doing that “thumbs up with the OK” thing.
Chris steps on Dave's 'Small Town News' punchlines perfectly.
Small town news, to the tune of Uptown Girl, lol. Chris is so funny.
Can’t believe this channel wasn’t sued for music copyright over that. 😢
This might be the funniest thing I've seen Chris Elliot do🤣😅🤣😅
So dead on.
amazing to see Hulk Hogan playing Chris Elliott playing Paul Shaffer
This is so spot on lol.
GENIUS!
I wonder how many of those laughs were from the set crew. I bet they were crying!
It's just the thumbs up and the ok. That's all it is.
The crowd didn’t understand it he’s doing Paul exactly awkward saying useless comments
The best part is watching how funny Dave thinks it is.
Chris Elliott is more Paul Shaffer than Paul Shaffer.
Im dying here 😂
I give this video a thumbs up and an okay.
Wow okay, so Mark Mckinney was actually doing an impression of Chris Elliott doing an impression of Paul Shaffer! 🤯
Didnt Chris live under Dave's stage for a few weeks?
When Paul came back, I thought it was still Chris.
I find Chris's conspiracy guy character still relevant in this day and age
Chris Elliott was the best act on the Letterman Show.! The producers should have included him more regularly.
It was great to see Paul Shaffer in _The Abyss,_ even though it was a small role!
And Manhunter!
So funny!
Chris Elliott doesn't get enough recognition, in my opinion. His daughter, Abby, is talented too.
------------------ thanks4sharing.....close enough to count ....Chris earned his keep .....plus Paul was mellow , as usual... about it ....where did dancing girls go....
HI-LARIOUS, Chris's own show was great , with the opening theme song being "Georgy Girl" ,...
Does all this chris elliot content mean we’re getting a staff favorite moments from him soon?
Hmmm..
Brilliant 😂
Do u have the Drew Barrymore birthday gesture from a front angle?😉
Will Sasso does a pretty good Paul Shaffer, too.
😂😂😂hilarious
I`m literally peeing my pants 🤣
what is the screen door reference that Letterman refers to?
It was the PBS show 'This Old House' guy making it from scratch. He was canned from that show, too many outside endorsement$ deals! Bob Vila on WIKI
5:11 That's what she said.
Chris was great! Paul was done by Chris?😂
Chris Elliot is the premier satirist of his time!
Memories from my junior high and high school days. Loved Letterman and his humor. Chris Elliot was gold. Back when this world made sense.
Did you know your goldfish is Trans?
Lmao @ random laugh!
Ahh Ahhh Ahhhhhh 😂😂
green onions i dont like them when they are yellow 00:22
I grew up on Chris Elliot with Get A Life 🤘🏾😎 Alt Comics
Banana Dance
ha! hahaha!!!
RIP
My god... I can't tell if that is Paul or not Paul or an amazing reproduction!.
BANANAS!

Damn the robots don’t like Chris
This just made me realize that Paul Shafer probably has ADHD.
Really !;! Really !;!
Super mean spirited actually.
aaaaaah ha
Ooops....sorry, cheap phone
Agh, Agh
Awkward there at the end.
I'm pretty positive that was the point.
Chris Kattan is a better Paul
