  • Learn how to use a soft jerkbait as a topwater, a mid-depth jerkbait, and a deep bait without adding any weight. Matt demonstrates how to adjust hooks and hook placement to get a variety of actions out of a fluke. If you're looking for a single "do everything" bait this Spring, look no further than the fluke.
The Super Fluke is in every angler's arsenal. Some use it as a Carolina rig bait, others as a stick bait, still others use it as a topwater. Today Matt explains some quick hook and bait modifications that will open doors to completely different ways to fish the Fluke. If you've been using the bait with a single-use approach, its time to learn what you've been missing!
Below is a breakdown of the baits, colors, and hook options that Matt recommends for fishing Flukes and other soft jerkbaits in the Spring and Summer.
    Baits...
    -Zoom Super Fluke: bit.ly/2aqys0H
    -Strike King Caffeine Shad: bit.ly/2jjyvzr

I haven't been fishing in over 5 yrs and didn't know where to start back again so I started watching Tactical Basssin' with Matt Allen. His RUclips videos have changed my life forever. You see, I was an avid fisherman but got addicted to crack badly. Then I saw a video with Matt that got my interests in fishing rekindled!!! Matt, I'm know a fishing addict and hooked on that feeling I get when I hook on a big bass. While I'm no Matt Allen or pro fisherman obviously, my biggest bass being only 20", I believe that. Matt and Tactical Bassin literally saved my life. My biggest and most sincere thank you to you Matt from the bottom of my heart and soul. I love your videos and the info you share with all of us. Keep up the great work.

That's awesome I was addicted to opiates for 10+ years and recently got addicted to fishing. I've been off opiates for around 6 months I think lol I lost track of how long after a while. I go fishing at least 3 times a week and I already got 7 combos lmao it's really addictive in a good way but not for the wallet.

I’ve been watching educational fishing videos for 15+ years. Wanted to be a pro in my early teens. Was addicted to it. I’ve watched em all, the Gerald Swindles, Kevin Vandam, and Mike Iconellie’s, and I’m gonna tell ya.... Matt Allen is the most in depth, hit every point, explain everything to the T, from beginner to advanced fishing coach/teacher I have seen. I have been so impressed with every single video he puts out. He’s doing what he loves and it it shows. ✌️

I've fished my whole life but never really done any bass fishing specifically. Went out this morning seeing a lot of top water action and just happened to have a super fluke tied up so I tossed it out there and had an 8 pound striper smash it almost immediately. Watching your channel has been costing me a lot of money the last couple days but I definitely have the bug now!!

Dude - great f’ing video. I mean, I just have to point out: to present ALL of that information...in one take...succinctly and clearly...as interestingly as you did? Classy, bro. I’m a guy with intensity for this thing and I saw passion in this presentation. I’d love to fish with this cat.

I have found that if you take needle nose pliars and close the opening in the CPS spring so that it is smaller than the barb of your hook you wont lose your fluke and you wont lose action of the fluke either. Just a little tip I have found to be very useful. Great video as usual guys!! Keep up the good work!

Yessss! I've been looking for more soft jerkbait content, I'm no bass fisherman, but I got hit by some rather nice Snook on DOA CAL soft jerkbaits, and it's all I can think about since. I know this is freshwater fishing, but you can still learn quite a lot about rigging and techniques. I was using the Texas rig, but I was thinking about trying out the California rig this weekend, can't wait to get out on the water

I stopped using the fluke for a while and been doing a lot of bottom fishing. Switched to flukes a few weeks ago and Bass can't seem to get enough of them.
It's an amazing lure. I've noticed Bass annihilate the flukes when they make splashes on the top. Drives them crazy.
I have to mention when I started using flukes again I forgot to use the lighter weight EWG hook. How I managed to make it a top water still baffles me. Bass love those splashes at the top. The little tail pushing water everywhere drives them nuts.
Thanks so much for this video TB.

Hi @tacticalbassin love your CPS rig. For a fluke keeper: I use a single hole paper punch to punch hard plastic tabs out of plastic food container lids. Push right over the hook point. Yogurt tub lid or anything like that works great and readily available. Also use these tabs to retain buzz bait keeper hooks. Learned this from another pro but can't remember who. Thanks Matt and Tim!

As usual great tips. I love the fluke up here in Massachusetts. I throw it a ton during the herring run on our kettle ponds. I want to add a hook to your arsenal that I think you'll love it might seem like a gimmick hook but it has great hookup and keeps my baits fixed longer. Give the gamakatsu Skip Gap hook a try I throw 3/0 and 4/0 on yum Houdini Shad and it's been money for me for years. The wire falls somewhere b/w standard and superline. I chuck it on MH spinning gear braid to floro when In shallow conditions 2-10ft we fish it as a hard twitch twitch kill it let it fall to the bottom dead stick and repeat. If there are several they take it on the twitch but bigger fish tend to slurp it off the bottom and move off with it..give it a try! We do alot of Quabbin Reservoir fishin up here for smallies look it up it's PHENOMINAL you guys should make a trip of it!

If you guys have time during this journey either now or on your way back through it would be awesome to see you guys catch some Guadeloupe bass, they are probably the rarest of the naturally occurring bass and they are always beautiful. They are only located in Texas and only in a few rivers found in the hill country.

I just got a bunch of flukes but I didn't know how to rig them right they would just spin in the water. Thanks for always teaching me what I need.

Awesome vid, Glad to see others doing it this way also.
I swear i can catch fish year round on flukes lol.
Has to be one of the most versatile baits ever made.
I love you said banjo minnow.. One of the few tv gimmick lures that actually worked
FYI if you take a small piece of shrink wrap and put it on the end of the twist lock it will stay one great!!
Also if you just want to cheap it.. A dab of hot glue on the eye of the twist lock works also.
I also like the idea of a bobber stop

Great vid Matt. Love the nose hook tip. I’ve fished flukes top water style for a while but never like the ole banjo rig. Also gonna try rigging it using a rivet sleeve through the nose into the belly and using a treble hook with one barb buried in the belly. Thanks again and since you’re up/out this way you should try Lake Broken Bow in southern Oklahoma as well as Tenkiller in eastern Oklahoma. Both super clear limestone lakes with super smallies. Tight lines and stay safe!
