Hands down a pink fluke is the most underrated bait out there. I catch hundreds of bass a year on it. Great video and tips.
Best channel on RUclips.. Glad I found your channel. You explain things clearly. God bless!
I use a straight shank heavy wire hook, preferably Gamakatsu. Heavy wire adds a little weight & helps it drop more flat & not nose or tail down, come through heavy cover pretty good. The only time I use a EWG or Offset is in super heavy cover with a lot of wood. Here in south central Louisiana, we fish the swamp with cypress knees & down trees & yes we do miss a few when using those 2 (like you said). However if you feel you need to use one of due to the cover your fishing, use a side sweep hook set, like your fishing a Carolina rig. It will increase your hook set ratio to missed fish.
Dude, Amazing video. The amount of details and useful tips in this was impressive. Subscribing immediately
Verycool tips buddy thanks bunches!!!
Great job at explaining how and why you use these! Just moved to Alabama and been tryong to catch my first bass here! Definitely going to try these out next time!
Great tips and information
Just found this and subscribed. 2nd season in Tennessee, Lenoir City. Did OK but hope to do better this year. Love the easy to understand explanations. Thanks man! Blessings to you!
Great video and great info. I never fished a fluke like that before. I subscribed right away ,nice job brother.
Great ideas I’m looking forward to try them.
Good hooking options. Thanks.
Another great video. I had to save this one.
Great job Jon! Easy explanation on a highly used bait. Just subscribed so I can get more content from you. Please keep up North conditions in your videos. Mass. Has some great fishing lakes for Largemouths.
Great info thank you! Have you tried the fluke on a Core Tackle Hover jig? The past couple weeks I've been throwing the Zoom Fluke Jr on it in local neighborhood ponds and have caught a bunch, nothing huge but good numbers.
Brilliant. Never thought of a screw-lock nose hook technique. Or using a nose weight wacky set up. This old dog is still learning. Thanks amigo.
You can also Carolina rig one and use it to search big areas of deep water. Texas rigged is my go to option. I love dancing a fluke on top of water near lily pads or weed lines and watching bass blast it.
Great video with lots of options of how to fish the fluke! Thanks! What size Centering Pin Spring seems to be best with the Super Fluke. Looks like it comes in several sized. THX.
That’s called a Banjo Minnow. I bought them off the info-mercials in the late 90s and caught tons of base. Once I lost all my banjo minnows, I bought flukes and rigged them the same
basically!
@@JD_Fishing it’s definitely a killer rig for sure
Yer wrong, the zoom fluke has been around long before the gimmick banjo
@@bigfootyeti3690 you missed the whole point. The nose screw rig with nail weight on the front was what made banjo minnow’s unique. People started applying that to flukes then
Nice. I use the red #4 trebles. Nose hook with those little rubber tabs. TL
I have always used the Gamakatsu Worm Hooks Offset Shank 3/0 to 5/0 in Red with a white fluke. No extra weights. Use a loop knot on a 36 inch mono or fluorocarbon leader and learn the twitch technique. The right rod tip is crucial to get the correct darting action with the fluke. This works in freshwater and saltwater.
My girlfriend wanted me to set her up that way and she caught a humongous bass some years back
And it won’t get caught on Hydrilla the second it hits the water.
What's the right rod? I bank fish a lot around ft bragg a lot. I typically carry a baitcaster and spinning with me. Spinning has more tip finesse, baitcaster rod is more rigid. Both are 7ft
Mh spinning rod, braid to leader. You need a tip and braid for distance but some backbone to set the hook if you texas rig.
Great video buddy
Great info ! It's hard to beat a fluke.
If you only go in a little way with the hook point when Texas rigging the bait and then come out, the fluke will sink more nose down than horizontally.
🙌🏼yessir when I’m running the double fluke rig , I alway run one hooked normal and one the way you’re speaking of, helps keep them on different levels when they’re darting around.
Great effort, but quit jerking the bed around so we can see how much hooked the women get around like a fly on a horses ass. Are you that nervous?
What you described is a banjo minnow lure setup. And yes it works fantastically
Nice video with the pink I always been using white cause I can see it well
White, bubble gum and chartreuse tail are absolute killer night time colors as well.
Awesome 💯
I neko rig Zman Chatterspikes hehe love that subtleness
I live in the Midwest and I have my best luck using a watermelon fluke one of my go to baits!
amen!
Cool video, Kid. An observation: whenever I texas or nosehook a fluke, the body rolls and doesnt stay upright. My question, does the body roll of the weightless fluke matter at all, is that normal?
- I have more confidence, and catch bass with fluke on a ball headed jig. Also, I gotta try that neko style. Genius. Thank you.
The same way to rig the old Banjo Minnow. Works great!
you ought to try some of ours. We use a blend material that's really supple, but still durable. We also have pure TPE version of a slim traditional profile. I can't drop the link here because it'll get auto-deleted lol.
been slaying them on a pink fluke.
Wow Nice Video Tips
great vid..just subbed
Love me a pearl with chartreuse tail fluke. Those are awesome.
I'm in North Texas, most lakes I fish they've barely started spawning yet. Maybe further deep south they're post spawn
Best hook I’ve found for flukes is the Gamakatsu G Lock in 5/0. It’s about the size of a 3/0 EWG.
Now it's a banjo minnow. Lol.
Great explanation. Nice video.
Tooth pick your fluke also to keep the hook in the front. Double flukes work great on schooling fish also.
Using the screw lock method, would u use drop shot?
What size screw lock do you prefer?
EWG hooks I quit using years ago. Too many lost big fish. And treble stinger hooks won't work where I fish. I started using a 4/0 Owner screw lock hooks and no more lost fish. Owner also makes a weighted version when fish are more bottom oriented. I've done well with the weighted version, even flipping with it.
You're not worried about that treble hook ever coming off what am I missing here?
Great video though I'm just curious about the treble hook thing because I miss a lot of bass on a fluke but I love using them they're very effective
How about the line thru method using a small treble ?
You make a diagonal channel from nose to throat w a nail , insert a thin straw thru the channel and cut to align , insert your line and tie on a treble that’s attached to a small split ring . Insert one of the trebles in the belly . BIngo
japanese blue gill and watermelon red are great colors as well
Bro said nobody is using a fluke, everyone I know that bass fishes has a fluke tide up on a pole as we speak,an they are not fishing right now ,lol not being hateful just pointing that out
A pole?? Its a rod brother lol jk kinda
I’ve never used a fluke, and I do very well bass fishing.
I hate seeing that people will just leave trash everywhere. But its definitely a nice spot and holds some decent fish. What state are you in? Just curious what your average bass size is in that area.
I eat breath sleep fluke..❤thats bad ass never would have thought to rig a fluke like that!god bless!🙏✌️
Try using a lighter gauge flipping hook, still get the same action, and hookup ratio goes way up over ewg hook.
shhhhhhhh haha
The latinanglers appreciate ur great tips my friend knowledge is key to landing those monters
someone needs to give jonathan here a video on where to park the boat to catch more fish. I think that might be the issue not his fluke hook-up
Would an octopus hook work for either front hooking into the nose or in the back? I have a size 2 and 3 octopus hooks. Just curious if those would work, too? Thanks. I enjoy your content.
Yeah, anything that works for wacky rigging will work on a nose hook.
My Japanese friend told me to put two small octopus hooks on my flook rugs it works.
But good tips bro👍
The blue glimmer is best on my lake....somedays white ice may get it done.
I just rig the hook multiple different ways to extend the life of the bait.
EWG hook is the absolute best way to go
Going small mouth fishing at Dale Hollow in two wks for first time. What Chartreuse color in Zoom would be your favorite?
They are probably biting a small swimbait Dale hollow now, or the little finesse worm.
Go to horse creek dock. They can hook you up with whats working.
In south Ms and baby bass flukes Texas rigged is the key around here
Here on norman in nc baby bass is my go to and I smoke them in the spring on it
Wow never saw that neko rig for flukes
Never heard of Banjo Minnow?
@@Athon08 yes I know the Banjo minnow. But that is akin to the nose-hooked rig he showed. Not the Neko rig. Just sayin… ☺️
I use a 5 aught worm hook. As long as you give time for the fluke to fall horizontal that's when you'll get struck. A more streamlined hook like a worm hook is better, you won't miss.
Best artificial baits for monster snook
Yeah, if you see a green pumpkin zoom superfluke let me know. That's my go to but can't find them anymore!
That’s my favorite too but I seen them at Walmart but my new favorite is the 6th sense juggle minnow
How to make a homade banjo minnow...
😂😂 not quite but funny nonetheless
@@Daiwa_Is_Kingactually it’s the same way Banjo Minnows are rigged.
Banjo minnow setup your talking there
This is how I fish my flukes 90 percent of the time
With all the New trends with ffs
Jerks baits are used a lot now
I don’t know why a soft jerk bait
Isn’t being used with ffs , or is it ???
Why would the pros not want anyone to know how to bait the same bait they're endorsing?
I will say when you find something that works really really well it sucks when everyone else figures it out
That secret method looks like a bootleg sideways wacky rig with a fluke
🤠👍
Fishing them single circle hook in the nose for years.
Love when they say The Secret Pros don't want Unto Know..how do u they know the secret? Us weekend big sticks told them about it. NO secrets exist 😂
That method isn't weedless
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Trebles? No way!
Wanna bet?
💪😁🫵
thats a dumb way to rig it
My friend, you need to take sun protection seriously. You'll be old before you know it and your face is screaming cancer.
Naw sun screen causes the cancer. Look at all the chemicals in the ingredients
Click bait. Stop following trends. Be original
Check out the latest video I did, if you don’t like the first minute you can dislike it
Don’t target actively spawning fish. Be a man.
Ma’man this knot is genius
Good video bro but again there is always somebody to say something about whatever you just keep on a good work, bro
Great video brother. I Sub'd.
Good tip, but I prefer mine weed less and on surface. I use non salted fluke
japanese blue gill and watermelon red are great colors as well
