Mike, your enthusiasm and attitude towards fishing is an inspiration for us, even here in South Africa. I am a teacher at a high school and i mention you in some of my life skill lessons. It is my prayer that you will be blessed because your inspire so many to love what they do.
Great video! I love your garage videos for some reason. I used to live in Vineland, New Jersey. I did something incredibly stupid when I was in the army and married a Jersey girl. 🤣 But hey, the first one doesn't count anyways right... My Daughter still lives there. She is less than 2 months away from being 18 years old. I have been taking her bass fishing since she was big enough to set the hook. I think she was 4 years old to be honest. Lots of fishing before then, but specifically bass fishing when she was four. She called her first bass on a Booyah, chartreuse spinnerbait. I have the pictures to prove it LOL. I am a super huge fan of yours! I love how pumped up you get when you know you got that great hookup with an absolute monster! Gets me all pumped up and I'm not even there lol. It doesn't take long for me to load my boat though so I don't mind. 😆 If you ever want to go to some highland reservoirs anywhere in Arkansas, you're always welcome on my boat or a Duo run would be absolutely awesome! Whichever would be a huge bucket list check for me! 😜 Thank you for all the great fishing tips and awesome angling over the years! Please keep being true to who you are and keeping the sport fresh, fun, and super exciting always! 🤙😎
Wow, I am in the boat with one of the greats, Mike Iaconelli. I use his sunglasses, and I have been drawing eyes and other features on soft plastic baits for ages. Another material that works good for this is textured fabric paint. It is pliable, and it sticks very well to the soft plastic
The Zoom Fluke has been one of my favorite baits since the first time I used them. Which was in the early 90s. So easy to skip under overhanging trees and brush. Great video Mike!!!
I love watching your videos Mr. Iaconelli. My issues are that I'm a hands on kind of guy and I don't have a boat. Would absolutely be ecstatic if I was able to fish along side you and learn how to fish different lures, how to setup and cast a casting rod effectively. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of fishing with us all.
Mike, I use Zoom Flukes over half of the time. I not only rig with bare 3/0 or 4/0 but my secret rigging is to use the Arkie Jerk and Stick Bait with red hook. I rig it the same as usual and wacky style. My catch ratio has shot way up since using the Arkie.
Hey Ike..Deptford here. Could you do a video about bass fishing over-pressured lakes bc bass in our area have seen zoom flukes everyday for 20 yrs and havent bit them in decades. Unless youre going for 1lb dinkers, most of your tips are only useful on 1. Good lakes...and 2. Huge lakes which hold bass that havent even been caught yet...which arent in our area.
Thats every lake in the country. Since covid, everyone and their mother has decided they gonna be a pro angler and try for the elites. Thats why you cant find certain baits certain rods, bass boats, high end kayaks, Etc. Theres one lure specifically, made in japan, for over a year you cant find any color even the bad ones. On ebay every once in a while u can find them for triple their cost retail. There are very few lakes that aren’t ridiculously pressured, esp right now. So you really gotta study bass behavior and think outside the box……stay outta community holes, go out on the bad weather days others dont wanna fish, etc. You gotta figure out where the ambush spots are and stuff, and just use baits and lures that just a lil bit different or the same but retreived different. Also if you know fish are in a spot, you gotta throw at them multiple times from multiple angles trying multiple variations on retreive. You cant just go down a bank casting at random stuff one or two casts, thats what everyone does. You gotta throw at same target 15 times from all dif angles; and throw way up in structure, the thickest stuff others are scared to. Its less to do with the bait, more to do with technique. Bass get irritated when something comes past them 8 or 9 times…….they do it on beds, but they also do it just sitting in ambush spots and in structure. After they see something repeatedly they will strike it out of frustration just to get it to stop swimming by them. All these things can help u catch more fish.
I love fluke style fishing!! I am excited to try out these tips and tricks on my next trip!! Also, I'm looking forward to following you on the Elite Series next year!!! Best of luck to you in 2022!!!
Save yourself some money and buy a Sharpie. Everyone knows they come in black, but you can get them in other very useful colors. One that I use all the time is neon yellow, aka chartreuse. Neon orange is also really good. Most craft stores have a very wide range of sharpie colors.
Thanks for the great info!!! The Fluke is my favorite lure. I fish mainly in Texas in shallow water with heavy cover so I don’t use a barrel swivel because it would get hung up in the heavy grass and wood cover. I usually dip the tails on some of my Flukes but I will try some of your ideas on marking some of them. Thanks again!!!
Out of curiosity could you a weighted hook instead of the heavy gauged hook? Thank you sir again for your great advice an time put theses videos out for us.
Great stuff Mike and I can feel ya when your dogs were being dogs but you kept tight lines , have you an extra stand around to keep some treats so if that ever occurs again , he can make sure a dogs mouth is otherwise engaged , a dog can't bark when thier mouth is full. Love your info keep up the great work.
Best part of Fall, is the bulk of the people are out hunting. I hunt as well, but it takes noo time to put a moose in the freezer then im back on the water. Did you ever try the "Sluggo" which i think Guido Hibdon created. It was an amazing lure! So was the Flying Lure!!
I haven't watched the whole video yet, I'll just start by saying that. But I wanna just say that I'm new to jerkbait/fluke fishing, and I've had some great success on it so far. I caught 5 fish in a matter of 45 minutes today on one jerkbait....but they were ALL pickerel except one tiny LMB. Idk what it is about the presentation, but in MA, literally 95% of the fish I catch on these lures are pickerel so far. The pickerel loved this jerkbait so much today that even when it was right in front of me in the water as I was picking out a little backlash in my reel, one came up and ate it. While it was doing not a damn thing. Craziness.
We love you down here on lake greenwood,SC !!! Look forward to you coming to our area !would love to fish with you, would love to experience you brand of wild, heck yeaaaas !😅😊😂
@@mikeiaconellifishing It definitely was, sir, and is really appreciated. I caught my first couple of bass on a red watermelon zoom fluke last week and unfortunately lost 4 on a Texas rigged fluke, no weight. Lost them all on the hookset.... And I DID wait. Was searching for some tips to improve the hookup ratio. If you have any tips, would love to hear them. The fish were all on, but the hook didn't catch. Using a size 5 EWG gap hook. Thanks again!!!
If your getting ANY line twist your baits not hooked right/straight.. There’s only one way to hook a fluke and that’s absolutely, positively, no if ands or buts… Must Must Must be dead nuts str8… Get rid of the swivel and the heavy gauge hook and use a tungsten nail weight and super glue it and never push it in the bait but just slide it in the slot as far up in the front as it’ll go… For the stinger try a treble with the white feathers 👊
Fish follow flukes like no other. I ALWAYS see bass follow flukes right up to the boat. I've caught bass before right at the edge of the boat with them.
OK, I have tried using flukes. I get tons of strikes but can't hook a fish to save myself. The fluke always slides down into the belly of the hook and balls up, so the point and barb don't get enough penetration. Am I using to small a hook ... or what?
How do the bass not smell the marker I see guys using sharpie on the last 8 too 10 inches of there line it has such a strong smell it scares me too use it I’ve heard some people sent scare the fish my buddy rubs his plastic all up with his fingers and I think I out fish him over half the time I’m not sure why but i do know I touch my bait as little as possible

Same. I started using black marker in the early ots but your tip for textured fabric paint is something I've got to try! Thank you sir
@@chinncannon You’re gonna love it
Mikey, I have been fluke fishing for over 20 years, I never thought to add a stinger hook. Thanks for that....
Dude I can literally just listen to you talk fishing for hours!! Your the goat!!!!
The Zoom Fluke has been one of my favorite baits since the first time I used them. Which was in the early 90s.

Caught my biggest bass of the year after work last night. In the dark on a jerk bait. 10.7.
Always love watching your videos and learning and congrats on heading back to the elites 😀😃

Drop shot with small baits buddy.
Try the Berkley Flat nosed minnow or the Berkley flat worm.
The KVD DREAMSHOT is money as well!
Love South Jersey boys. Great instructional video and modification. As an ex Burlington County NJ guy , the stained water in NC loves the Pearl white.
I love how every bass fishing video on RUclips guarantees I catch more and bigger bass
Thanks for the great tip sir. Glad your back home with B.A.S.S. Take care, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Thank you Mike that treble hook thing is just too cool

Just subscribed! I like the forceful way you present your knowledge without being pushy.
Thanks, Ike! That makes total sense. It's the simple ideas that can be most effective!
Flukes can be friggin’ deadly, I used to catch LMB on them growing up in Florida, but now I sue them to catch European Perch here in Germany
Out of curiosity could you a weighted hook instead of the heavy gauged hook?

Great stuff IKE!!! Great content!
Your the man
Thanks Mike
Berkley don’t make a Disco violet, Zoom does. Maybe you used Houdini? Great video.
Great info
Thank you Nate!!
What do you consider stained vs muddy water
You can catch bass on a fluke style bait depending on how you rig it almost any day. Don’t leave home with out it. “What’s in your tackle bag”?
If your getting ANY line twist your baits not hooked right/straight.. There’s only one way to hook a fluke and that’s absolutely, positively, no if ands or buts… Must Must Must be dead nuts str8… Get rid of the swivel and the heavy gauge hook and use a tungsten nail weight and super glue it and never push it in the bait but just slide it in the slot as far up in the front as it’ll go… For the stinger try a treble with the white feathers 👊
Is this extra swivel weight ok through Lilly pads or will it wrap around the stems too much?
I take my tore up flukes are cut it about an inch from the tail and use it on a drop shot .
I use a 20lbs fluorocarbon leader because my lake has to many Northern Pike. The under 25” Pike are an absolute nuisance.
How about one of those bladed trebles as a stinger?
would it be totally wrong to rig the stinger on the top side of the bait's tail rather than the bottom?
Hey IKE you forgot the red treble hook threaded on the EWG then hooked into the body of the fluke
Fish follow flukes like no other. I ALWAYS see bass follow flukes right up to the boat. I've caught bass before right at the edge of the boat with them.
Mike do you use a loop knot on a flute ?
What size barrel swivel do you use between braided line and monofilament when your using the soft jerk bait in the fall?
He said a #6
OK, I have tried using flukes. I get tons of strikes but can't hook a fish to save myself. The fluke always slides down into the belly of the hook and balls up, so the point and barb don't get enough penetration. Am I using to small a hook ... or what?
Mi dude ur awesome
Yes sir it's a deadly catch all day every cast will be a fish.
thought he was going to show the double fluke rig.
“Call Biden you probably love’em” 😂 Legendary!!🇺🇸👍
What would be the max depth you would use this?
I actually like to use a worm hook on my flukes
Awesome
the eye on that rod is bent LOL
Jajaja enjoyed it foresure
Awe
U da man
Fluorocarbon is "invisible"??
Funny how it’s the originals that catch the big fish
What about a bluegill imitation
How do the bass not smell the marker I see guys using sharpie on the last 8 too 10 inches of there line it has such a strong smell it scares me too use it I’ve heard some people sent scare the fish my buddy rubs his plastic all up with his fingers and I think I out fish him over half the time I’m not sure why but i do know I touch my bait as little as possible
Spike it those markers have a garlic smell to them
