    • @ekinteko
      @ekinteko 2 месяца назад +1

      Some notes on that list.
      - money is no object (within reason)
      - older phones had small displays, so a qwerty gave a huge advantage (eg Nexus One, Samsung Galaxy S1, S2)
      - Samsung made the best phone and with the largest display, and absolutely dominated the market for several years
      - I didn't give any extra points for S-Pen or DeX, as that makes things too unfair
      - Google Pixel 2XL was a controversial addition, this was Google's most competitive phone, yet it's not much better than the S8-Active
      - I love Custom Roms, but they typically take 6-12 months development to optimise better. And if you are upgrading your phone as often as this list, then you don't need it as you'll be on the most recent software anyway
      - Preference is given to more features (User Removable Battery, IrDa Blaster, 3.5mm port, microSD slot etc) but grounded in reality of the market
      - Storage Issues (lack of microSD slot) is major but can be bypassed by pure money and getting larger (1TB internal) models
      - Many great options from China but all had lots of small flaws, or a single major flaw, compared to the mainstream competitors
.... what do you think about this list ?
.... what is your list of android phones ?

They've removed physical dual SIM support (which allowed for a nano SIM plus microSD at the same time) in favor of this stupid hybrid garbage, so if you want to use a microSD card you're forced to use the e-SIM nonsense, because it only has ONE shared physical slot for either a nano SIM *or* a microSD, and the e-SIM garbage somehow now counts as dual SIM support. Some newer models even went backwards going from USB 3 back down to USB 2 and losing displayport video output in the process

LG knew how to make phones and in some ways they listened to all fans not just their hardcore ones like the stubborn Sony does.
In my opinion they just should have tried to be more competitive with pricing and maybe try stock android, but they weren't afraid to experiment and should have kept making phones. Just adjust the prices at the time to undercut the competition

The same company who now made a 1080p LTPO panel, with great battery life, perhaps the greatest in Android ever, keeps buttons for volume, power and camera shutter, has expandable storage upto a record 2 TB, has the highest quality speakers ever and still has a headphone jack? That Sony? LG was still a low quality basement bargain brand when Sony was at the top of the game in televisions, walkmans and cameras .

I was kinda frustrated when LG stopped making phones because I genuinely liked and picked their phone every time I had a upgrade or needed a new one. That was until I went for a upgrade but didn't see a LG option, so I asked if they had any coming in stock soon, or if another location had a LG model I could upgrade to. Well, we all know what the answer to that was. Now I'm stuck with a Samsung Galaxy abc123 or whatever, that honestly doesn't hold a candle to LG.

Wow, you actually brought a smile to my face, I still use the V30 and the V40 as my regular daily phones. For me the V30 is the perfect size and weight but I alternate with it's big brother the V40, just to keep them both working and "synced". One of the main features for me is the fingerprint sensor, perfectly located in the centre of the back where the index finger naturally falls, and which works first time every time, unlike my galaxy s22 plus in display sensor, which at the best works about 70% of the time. I have turned my camera shutter noise off, it doesn't sound when I take pictures with the phone on silent. I have the Taiwan variant. I keep buying newer more modern phones and always end up going back to my LG,'s. For me, they are just the best. Thanks for giving it a mention.

I used to have a LG G6 in middle school, which has a backside fingerprint power button. I really liked it. Sleek design, can run GrapheneOS, headphone jack, just sad that the battery life went so down to only about 2 hours on it's last days. LG is a great company that should have lived on man.

I had LG V10 and it had a manufacturing defect that died after 1 year. I really loved it, it was the best phone I had

My daily driver is a Samsung, but I still use my old LG V40 to listen to music. Before I had the V40, I had the V20, and before that, the G4. I miss LG phones.

LG was so innovative. I still use my V60 for travel and photography. The dual screen you could attach to the phone was revolutionary.

I'm offering upgraded Android 14 "DAP-ified" LG V30s specifically to use as DAPs on eBay. LG stopped support at Android 9. My conversion unlocks them for any carrier, removes all bloatware, provides full access to every single setting of the Quad DAC without having to "trick" the phone (impedance modes, filters, amplification, etc), and simply brings the device up to 2024.
The LG V30s still sound fantastic and easily beat out a lot of current chunky DAPs. Shameless plug, but people are enjoying them.

I was someone who bought a new phone every 10-12 months between 2009 and 2018. I have been on my S9+ since 2018. I refuse to have a hole in my screen, to go without a headphone jack, and to go without an SD card. I'm not looking forward to replacing this phone.

I got the LG v20, and the audio on that one was out of this world! I got the SHP-9000 open back headphones to jam out on walks and still hear the sounds of nature, and it was incredible! I've since upgraded to the iPhone16 with the Huawei Freeclips. Sound went from AMAZING to merely surprisingly good, but I literally forget that I have earbuds on and leave them in 6+ hours per day. Comfort is king. but I still miss my phablet with the cans. LG audio is unbeatable.

My v40, which i used for 5 years, fell down from the 4th floor. It still worked for a month, and then, finally, the display started to give up.
