  • Toyota Camshaft Replacement
    In this video I have a 4.7 Toyota 4 Runner with a rough running engine and a diesel type noise at idle coming from the passenger cylinder head. This video had just had timing belt and camshaft seals replaced which includes removing the Camshafts. I will walk you through the procedure to not only replace the timing belt but also to remove the camshafts and replace the camshaft seal. This requires a very important step in removing the camshafts. Come with me and I will help you with this job and you will feel very comfortable taking it a part.

      I am very happy to hear that, the repair I did is actually quite confusing when you first try to do it and understand the verbage used by Toyota. Thank you for watching.

    Removing the oil and other fluids out of bolt holes always reminds lessons in science in high school.Learned fluids take the shape and do not compress.

    Walth of knowledge. Thank you tremendously! I’m about to tackle this job in the next week. First time I’m hearing to not seal pack the grooves-I was going to as no one in the research I have done has said that. Also, what program was that that you were using with all the info, e.g. torque specs, orientation of cam caps, where to apply seal pack, etc.?
    Seriously, thank you for making this video!

      Thank you very much I appreciate that. The info is from All data. It's a program you have to subscribe to. Sealing cam caps is tricky sometimes if you do not know where to seal. If you have any questions hit me up on Instagram. Thank you for watching.

    I’m having the exact same trouble…I picked my truck up from a timing belt service with Cam seals. And now it sounds like a diesel. Can you reset the gear with the service bolt if it wasn’t done correctly? Or do I need new parts on standby?

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  5 месяцев назад +1

      In this video That is what I was doing I believe. Another tech can seals and had to fix it. You just have to really think about that gear and how far it moves. We didn't replace anything except new seals. I fixed it first try. Hit me up on Instagram if u have any questions. Good luck thanks for watching

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  Год назад +1

      You are very welcome. I actually would not replace valve seals without removing heads, and we always send them to the machine shop to be checked. We have such a long warranty that we do not take chances on that. Thank you for watching.

    Great video and some good tips! Just a quick question did you set the cams to the T's or did you just set to TDC? I know on the 4.7s they have a tendancy to jump time if you arent careful. Thanks!

    What to look for in that valve cover little filter? Is it typically just cleaning from being to dirty? Do you know the part number if it needs to be completely replaced?
