From Santiago de Chile I greet you Tito Santana and thank you for this magnificent material. I heard Traffic for the first time in my country more than 50 years ago in a pioneering rock radio program here in Chile called *Alto Voltaje*... this band Traffic was one of my favorites in those years of my adolescence, little by little Little by little, as the years went by, I got to know this tremendous English group and their music better. In this millennium, thanks to the website, I know their entire Traffic discography and Steve's other works, which are countless... I never thought that today I would be able to see them here in RUclips a video with the performance of this tremendous musician 2 days after he performed in New York.. *Blessed Technology*!!!
Steve Winwood - such an Iconic Performer. What a great show! Thank you for sharing. I'm so bummed that Steve Winwood was not the opening performer for the Doobies when they were here in Atlanta this year!!
Was at this concert, travelled all the way over from Scotland for my 50th birthday with my 16 year old son! What a performance from both Steve and The Doobs!
Just think, this is the man who played the organ on the song "Voodoo Chile" on the album Electric Ladyland with Jimi Hendrix, I'm talking about the long version, 4th song on side one! One of the best if not the best recording of Jimi Hendrix live ever recorded and Stevie Winwood was a massive part of it. Does a man good to see this especially with me being Stevie's age and seeing him live back in the day! ((:
Yes. Live in the studio so the recording is great. Jack Cassady Buddy Miles, and many others on it too. Blew me away in 1968-69. "On the night I was born........"

He blew the doobies off the stage! He should do a limited tour and gather some guests. I wish his part of the show was longer. What’s going to replace this music? There’s nothing out there if this caliber being produced. God Bless Steve! So talented.
I met him once with a friend back stage who was re-mixing a tune for him. He was so nice and approachable that 20 seconds into the convo I was starting to relax and be like what a ‘nice guy’ but then a voice in my head said…”dude, you are standing before Stevie EFFING Winwood…greatness on your album covers…get back to being in AWE” and I did, just standing there with a shit eating grin watching and listening to the disucssion.
Wow, I would have loved to have been at that show. He is such a gifted musician. His guitar solo on Dear Mr Fantasy was unbelievable. Just when you think it can't get any better, he takes it to another level. I always believed that great music can and should transport you to another place if only for a brief moment. Few artists have that ability. This man definitely will do that. Thank you, Steve, for sharing your gift
As stated by others, Thank You for taking the time to share this video. Winwood is a monster musician right up with the greats of our time. I saw him on tour with Steely Dan several years ago and was blown away by his virtuoso guitar playing! This cat is a total bad ass!
A legend. Surprised he's "opening" for the Doobies, but hey, he's still doing it. And the Doobies are one of my faves and people are finally realizing how great they were. I think they got a bit overlooked in the seventies when they were at their peak, there was so much great music back then. And I'm glad to see he's still rockin' that green strat!
Was lucky to see Steve Winwood & Band on a few occasions when he opened for my favourite band Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers during their tour in 2014. Always made sure to get there early to see the Steve Winwood full set - was always sensational. Great memories!
Steve Winwood is Timeless Artist. Been doing it a long Time . His Catalog can Stand with the Very Best of Them . His Voice still in Tac. Great performance ❤ Thankyou Mr. Winwood . Your a Beacon of Light in a Troubled World. You Bring Hope .
Nunca son buenas las comparaciones, pero por una vez.. Winwood es como, de alguna manera el espejo de Stevie Wonder, allende los mares, claro. El inglés, puro talento, haciendo música de negros siendo blanco. Wonder, no menos talentoso, haciendo soull, Rythm & Blues. Ambos, blanco y negro, uno más pulcro y proijo, el otro menos descontrolado y más pop, pero se encuentran, ¿no? Es una idea, sólo una idea, que a lo mejor mañana no suscribo. Since I started to listen to music seriously in early 60s Steve Winwood has always been on my musical map. His songs are all modern r and b standards. The british invasion would be incomplete without Steve and his Hammond organ pieces of jazz rock rhthm and blues masterpieces. As far as backup people stands to reason he knows how to pickem.
I had gotten the tix for the doobies and a few days before the show found out Steve Winwood was opening. What luck! He was sooooo good. Best opening act I've ever seen. It was worth every cent.
Just went last night to Gilford Nh show, I was blown away by him! Never really listened to him except what I heard or saw on MTV back in the day but wow holy cow! Incredible show and so blessed that the weather was perfect for the outdoor venue
Steve's always been pretty genuine, though at this point a theater show where he played covers of tunes that influenced him (from any era) would be real treasure. Thanks for posting this because it's always been a tonic to see him.
I would like to dedicate this song to my buddy, Kenny, who passed away 2 weeks ago tho I just found out yesterday. He was my compadre, a great friend and a lover of life. I learned so much from him. We spent the summer's of the late 70's growing up up in NH on Lake Winnepesauke. We had the time of our lives during those summers, on that great big lake. I love him dearly.
I'm sure he COULD be headliner if he wanted to. Over the years I've gotten the impression that he's more comfortable doing this (opening): the pressure is off him to sell tickets, he can do a shorter (1 hour) set & stick to known material, and people don't feel short-changed. Just my opinion.
Definitely not. Even at his 80s peak when he did headline arenas, the kids would come back from the show saying "Level 42 was better". Winwood is an incredible recording artist and music virtuoso. He's not a connect-with-the-back-of-the-room arena live personality.
@@joaowegher8766 Yeah, I see that. I meant I was wondering why the bass guitars are out there, but no one ever plays them. Maybe it's just back-up if the pedals go out.

Maybe if the Doobie's didn't have Michael Mcdonald back in the band. He was by far the MVP of the night. But Steve Winwood was really great.
