Oh my gosh! For almost a year I have lived with a brand new Fluidmaster fill valve sitting on a shelf and my toilet acting all weird...going from running all the time to not filling back up after being flushed. I had watched I don't know how many RUclips tutorials, read the directions and still could not figure out how to change that thing. I was ready to just buy a new toilet and start all over.
This morning I thought I would give it another shot. Did a search and there you were, first result. I watched and thought it couldn't be THAT easy. That's not what everyone else did. Thy had like about 20 more steps in theirs.
But I did exactly what you said and it was like my son says...easy peasy, lemon squeezy! I was thrilled!
I LOVE YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

If the toilet tank is slow filling or the fill valve won't completely shut off, there is typically no reason to completely replace the entire unit when simply flushing out the valve and replacing the toilet fill valve seal will suffice (part 242, toilet valve seal for Fluidmaster 200, 400 and 747 model fill valves).
You can remove the valve cap, flush out the valve body to remove debris and replace the valve seal in five minutes. It does not involve removing the fill valve from the toilet tank or draining the toilet tank. It is a simple repair of the toilet fill valve, not a wholesale replacement of the toilet fill valve. The seal costs around $2.00 and the instructions for replacing the valve seal including flushing the debris out of the valve body are on the package.
Fluidmaster also has short videos on how to remove the valve cap and flush out the valve body.
ALSO: you should adjust the refill tube so the water sprays directly into the overflow tube so it can fill the bowl. In your video, the water from the refill tube is hitting the edge of the overflow tube and spraying into the tank. Adjusting the refill tube so the water sprays directly into the overflow tube also eliminates a lot of noise when the toilet tank is refilling.

Pro Tip - These Fluidmasters are great but they still tend to wear out after a few years and you gotta replace them. If you're replacing the valve with the same kind of value, you don't have to bother taking the entire old one out and detaching the supply line. Just slide the clear plastic lock collar on the post up and then slide the entire top assembly up off the bottom post. Slide the new one on to your desired height, and push the lock collar back down. Then cut your fill hose to length and attach it to the flush tube. This would also be a good time to go ahead and replace the flapper with a Korky Plus to save future headaches. Done!

@@TomLeeman I appreciate the response friend but I was able to figure it out I was just confused by the little upward hooks that keep the flapper in place like I thought you had to do something special with it but no I just had to force it out with a little muscle power, if that makes any sense haha yeah I got it done.
The only thing I'm actually having problems with now is that the toilet water supply line to one of my toilets is spraying out water that's coming onto the floor instead of going completely into the new valve I brought a fluid master 400 model btw. It's weird it didn't happen to the other two just this last one. Like I checked the valve and water is going through it it's just that some of the water's splatting out of the supply line as well I tried tightening it as much as I could but still happening weird.
I'm wondering maybe I should just replace the supply line I guess.
But again thanks a lot I'll definitely look around see if you have videos on that too 😁

@@TheTimon64 that’s interesting. I have to see it to figure it out. You may have cross threaded the Going into the water closet or the washer isn’t ceiling tight depending on where the water is coming from. Good luck and thanks for watching.

@@TomLeeman hey friend I actually figured it out on another vid the guy talked about there being like a little black rubber cone inside of the supply line that goes up into the toliet .
somehow it came out of my valve when I was taking it out I guess, it was in the bucket where I put the old valve somehow it just fell in there thank God I found it lol
but I put that little black cone back in and that helped keep the water from spliing out everywhere so I'm all good now phew haha thx again for your help all done! Im my Mom's hero right now lol 😁

Thank you! I’m a single mom of a 16 yr old “pre-handy” (but is on the honour roll) young man so we are both learning (but I’ll be doing it 😂.) This was really easy but the rotted gasket on the tank nut I was unprepared for! Orange water leak til I replace that so still no water in the tank!

This toilet fill valve was easy to replace. But there are some more adjustments that other valves would need.
