The Rise of Soulcalibur

- Опубликовано: 16 сен 2018
- *Edit: Thank you people! This is the first time I've gotten this many viewers so rapidly in the past 2 years. My other stuff's pretty similar quality, at least all the stuff before last December.
I like Tekken, and almost anything Namco Bandai puts out, but I like Soulcalibur better.
The Soulcalibur franchise used to mean a lot, and it still does to me, but it never caught on the way other games did. I don't think I'll ever get why.
It was the first and last AAA 3D weapon fighter to my knowledge. It's consistently beautiful and entertaining, and almost made a proper competitive esport. Maybe SC6, huh?

Soul Calibur 2 was my introduction to the series and it cemented my love for the series.
Same.
I think you're a bit too harsh on Link. Sure, he was the hook that drew me into the series, but I learned the game, I stuck around, and bought an entirely new console specifically to play the sequel. Join for the guest character, stay for Nighmare, Talim, Sophitia, and the others who I don't main.
bless, I wish my friends did that
Very few players went that route. One look at the sales figures of the franchise after SC2 makes that abundantly clear.
I wanted to do the same but I was a penniless brat and my parents were kinda broke so...
I dropped off after 2, not because link wasn't in 3 but because I couldn't afford a second console. Link was never my favorite character but I remember him being the reason I gave the franchise a chance. That being said, I'm loving Soul Calibur 6 so I eventually did buy another game years later
@@BasementRoadShow
To be fair with SC3 being an exclusive, it's not hard to see why the sales immediately dropped. It wasn't Link's fault you couldn't play 3 without a PS2
I remember being 8 years old at an EB Games, seeing Soul Calibur II on display and people lined up to play it...the only fighters i were into at this point were Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct (and Melee) because blood and gore, and i was 8. I begged my dad to get it, and once i saw Link i HAD to get it and i shit my pants when he brought it home 2 days later. i was the target audience i admit it, but i played every game RELIGIOUSLY after II with or without Link, and i've been hooked on SC since 2003 proudly. It was the first game i ever truly 100% completed and i loved it and still do to this day. My dad even bought it on OG Sexbox because he saw me playing it and he wanted it for himself.
is that the game with geralt in it ?
Das right
I'll never say that becase I still can't figure out if its geralt or geralt 😏
His stage music is sooo good.
Nah, it's the game that ezio is from I think
Gerald is in 6 part
SC2 has the best intro , my 1st SC game
SliceOfPotato Same here. I had it on the Xbox though with Spawn. And then I didn’t even realize the had made the other SC games until 4 and 5.
Soul Edge Intro though. but yeah, SC2 intro is great.
soul edge have the best intro
soul calibur 2 and 3 have good intros
but 4,5...
Soul Blade had a much better intro.
Not just the best intro, it's the best game in the series; heck, probably in all fighting games!!!
FINALLY, someone appreciates Yunsung. I love you
Bröther
Poor mans hwang with tidus personality. No thanks. Gimme the OG. Xianghua is nice but hwangs the og and had an actual personality that was not like sanding paper. Unlike that one kid that STOLE hwangs sword...
You would appreciate Soul Edge/Blade alot more IF it was the first game you played in the Soul series.
Probably. Couldn't stand not being able to run
Completely understandable. For me it was like the best game ever and thought, "How could this get even better??". Then we got Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast.
Or had any understanding on how ACTUAL weapons based fighting works. Blocking is NOT a thing, 8-way running (sure, in games its better than side-stepping that SE/B had) but realistically it still isn't really a thing. If you wanted to move to the side, guess what, you actually do fucking side-step, you don't run.
It was awensome for 1995. KBash is just a big mouth kiddo. SoulCalibur was better, no dubt, but for its time SoulBlade was great too.
Im glad im not alone on this

There can be only 3 reasonable explanations.
a) you had to buy that underwear
B) you had to borrow that underwear
And, of which I hope is the answer is c) that underwear already belongs to you
I'LL never tell ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
KBash yeah. It’s C.
👌🏼
I wish I was that underwear

Mine is smash but still soul calibur it's still pretty close
Soulcalibur is the best
Hello, Casual Link Scrub Main here...
Yes, I did get SC2 just because Link was in it, but that introduced a whole new world for me to enjoy. I more or less loved nearly every character in the game, but I mostly played Link in addition to Nightmare and Talim. I figured out that SC II had guest characters when I saw the Xbox game case, I saw Spawn which was cool (who I did recognize), but I had a feeling that the next game wouldn't have Link, but a different representative. Which made me ecstatic for the next game. So I waited and waited...and waited...and waited...and forgot.
I forgot because I waited too long for the next Soul Calibur game on a Nintendo system. Which was a shame, but I made this comment because KBash mentioned that Link devalued the other characters in the game...
He didn't, he opened up a new world to many more people that would otherwise have never touched the game; I included. I think what actually hurt was that Soul Calibur 3 was only PS2 exclusive. I knew the series was on Xbox, but it didn't even appear on that.
I got Soul Calibur 4 and made plenty of friends on that game. Even if the game was bad, it had a big impact.
Same with Soul Calibur 5, but didn't do much.
And now SC 6 is coming to PC, my current system choice...and I can't wait to pick up Talim, Siegfried, Zasa, Nightmare, and Cervantes all over again, and none of that would have ever happened if I didn't see Link on the front of a Soul Calibur 2 case cover...
I agree 100%. But I never got another SC until 6 today. 3 being a ps2 exclusive made me forget about the series for a while, and the general opinion on IV and V being meh didn’t help either.
I've pretty much always seen guest characters as a fun novelty. Does Noctis have anything to do with Tekken? Nope. So what?
I got into Soul Calibur 2 because a friend of mine had it, and I was hype to be playing Link. But then what's hilarious is I ended up maining Astaroth primarily, and I was happy to later on buy and play Soul Calibur 3 because we did have a PS2 luckily.
I've bought every entry in the series since, but, I gotta say that after 5 I'm not interested in 6. SC5 was just sorta boring with so many mistakes it made.
Righteous, I played all three versions of SC2, but I only knew Heihachi from Tekken. I wasn't familiar with Link or Spawn at all. Maxi's been my main in every entry he's in, followed by Kilik and Yun-seong.
I don't even understand what he's complaining about, a large portion of those "casuals who left after 2" wouldn't even have gotten SC2 in the first place if it wasn't for Link
Finally someone who appreciates soul calibur as much as I do!
I hate how under appreciated this franchise is. Hopefully more people will try out 6 because of Geralt’s appearance. I didn’t like playing the same ppl over and over again when you got higher up online. Gonna try to push all my friends to buy this one!!
I’ve played every one since 2. 4 was my absolute favorite one, Rafael was soooo broken in it. 😁😁
P.S. My favorite characters are 1. Mitsurugi, 2. Rafael, 3. Siegfried, in that order lol
Funnily Soul Calibur 2 was the first one I got and I got the Gamecube version because of Link. I rented the xbox version though and it introduced me to Spawn who I found to be a way cooler character than Link. Spawn became one of my favorite comic book super heroes, and I stuck around for every Soul Calibur and even got the first one. Anyone who just got the gamecube version for Link and nothing else? Their loss I say!
Dang now that's interesting
Soul caliber 6 HYPE
Day one fam
Thanks for this awesome video, I’m really looking forwards to 6 and I wanted to get a video with some background on the franchise
Thank you!
You have no idea how heartbroken I was when I learned SC3 was a PS2 exclusive. I fell in love with SC2 having only played the demo at my local Target, where you could only play Nightmare and Cassandra. It was the very first game I played on my Gamecube, and I remember falling in love with every character, especially Nightmare and Seong-Mina. So when I learned about SC3 having a more expansive single-player experience, Siegfried and Nightmare being 2 separate characters, and the ability to create your own character, I was ecstatic! But I was 12, and I couldn't afford the 300 dollars it would take for not only the game itself, but the PS2 and a second controller for my friends. This realization was one of the biggest heartbreaks of my childhood, and while I still have some love for the franchise, I'm just not as dedicated a fan as I might have been.
I really liked this video! It was pretty funny, I subbed and I'll be looking forward to your SCVI vids ;)
Dude I want to make them
This popped up in my recommended. Nice video, I can really tell you have a passion for the series.
Dang it's getting recommendations? Maybe I'm finally getting a foothold on this platform
Thanks, of course!
Regarding Link... I was one of those kids that got introduced to SC2 because Link. I played him a lot BUT... actually started caring more for the other characters. So to me it actually had the opposite effect. I started playing the sequals because Link got me into 2.
Only 2k subs? That’s crazy that was such good content
Thank you
I swear you need a meme or a youtube-god-sponsership to get anywhere in gaming
I get your point about Link. I’m happy to say, though, that it doesn’t apply to me; Link got me into Soulcalibur and I’ve loved the franchise ever since.
I only got 4 & 5 because of the Create a Character mode.
Dude CaS is the best
The Super Canadian Guys same with me, even though I also loved how SC4 handled the story and how the custom characters got preset endings.
These are the current day Link players who don't look up shit or learn the game.
ArcticKomodo LOLd. Sad, but true.
The Super Canadian Guys pretty much yeah
i would love a soulcalibur animated series the lore is extremely detailed everything is there in terms of story snd characters every backstory is connected in one way or another
SC3 was my favorite because of the 60 character roster
Fantastic video, informative and entertaining! I'm looking forward to fighting in SCVI, I love this franchise.
It's gonna be sick
Awesome video! I love Soul Calibur, and I think all the major points you've made are spot on. Not to mention I laughed my ass off throughout most of this
Thank you!
The one time I don't bring my headphones to work, GOD!
haha aw man :P
Thank you for talking about how 8 way run basically makes this game series so fun. No ridiculous execution for simply.. moving out if the way.
Really enjoy the way you did this, good stuff
It came out okay! Grateful for the views
@@KBash this is my favorite fighting games series, n you are doing it justice. Cant wait for the next part
Guest characters aren't the problem, guest characters are the only reason some people consider playing alot of games that aren't street fighter. Link, Spawn and Heihachi were some of THE smartest marketing decisions they could have made helped people who didn't give a fuck about soul caliber atleast try it out. The problem you're thinking of is playstation exclusivity.
I disagree. They're a short term solution to a long term problem - the viability of the franchise. I already outlined the reasons.
* to clarify, disagree or whatever, I absolutely despise when companies choose to compromise the creative integrity of their creation with external elements. The characters don't fit into the world, so they stick out like a sore thumb. Maybe I care too much about narrative cohesion or something, but I'm a writer and it bothers me.
So we've already established there are people who only bought Soul Caliber 2 just for link, spawn, or heihachi being in it. People who didn't care about sould caliber to begin with. Now with this in mind can you confidently say to that the long term viablity would be in danger because people aren't picking characters they had no interest in the first place? If guest characters are killing a fighting game then its not the guest characters themselves, it's a problem with a lack of an interesting roster to people who aren't already fans. And legacy fans alone already interested in a roster can not carry a fighting game. Mortal Kombat X had several out of lore that appeal to people aren't familiar with the game, but recognize the guest characters, same with tekken 7, and even soul caliber VI has Geralt, someone I'm familiar with while I couldn't tell you half of SC's roster that matters to me outside of Maxi.
For comparison, when i tried tekken for the first time ever last year akuma brought me in, but the mishimas were so interesting i switched to Jin and Kazuya. Should I have chose to keep using akuma and drop tekken in the next installment that would be fine because i probably wouldn't have picked up tekken in the first place. THAT's how you do guest characters right. If your roster is interesting the results will show. The guest characters generate the outsider hype and the talk. The idea that fans picking the guest characters could be long term without VERY THING that brought them in just doesn't make sense.
You focus on just your core roster when your franchise already isn't one of the most popular with no marketing strategy and you end up like Virtua Fighter.
Great vid man, although I don't agree with the Soul Edge part, which is a game that I find pretty cool and with many mechanics that followed up to this day's Project Soul's games, I get it that you began with SC, right? So I see why u get frustrated with SE lol Anyways, keep it up and bring us part 2 xD
Hey thanks man, I hope it's good when it comes out!
It went both ways though, we got frustrated with mechanics change in SC, completely neglecting stuff like 8-way movements since game before Soul Calibur almost never relied on sidesteps, it was more of a gimmick feature. They cut a lot of combos and new characters were mostly clones too (devs wanted to cut most of old ones in SC, then at last minute returned them back, so we ended up with likes of Mina, Rock and Siegfriend having weird movesets that copied their clones...)
There aren’t a ton of really well made soulcalibur/soulblade/souledge videos on RUclips but this is definitely one of them. Kudos to you good sir.
Hey thanks :)
Hell yeah, I'm half way in and this video is already great. I actually cracked up at the wet panties at the arcade joke - oh man xD
I was actually gonna do a review of SCII (eventually) I gotta polish my game up before that. Defo subbing, keep fighting the good fight friend. May your soul burn forever.
Same, and no worries - make one anyway. People just want to hear their favourite things praised ad nauseum
I have absolutely no idea how you are not one of the top RUclipsrs. Let me just say this... i found you through this video (I love SC) and I know I'm just some random commenter but it is very hard for me to click on videos when the review is about a game I don't know an I have watched almost all your reviews 😂
aw jeez, thank you! Not a popular opinion
SC2 is one of the best fighting games ever made, to bad they didn't build off it and make it better. I didn't know anything about Tekken at the time so SC2 Heihachi was my introduction to the character, he was the fist type character to me and was my main. I hope he's a DLC guest character.
KilikSC6 HayateDOA6 Leon Kennedy Nioh are you a troll?
And sc2 is so detailed that it is still ridiculously pretty after like 14 years
I'm so pissed that this video has like no views. You spent a lot of time on this I can tell, it's a great video. Keep it up!
Hey thanks man, I always do!
Honestly, I'm glad I played the Xbox version as a kid. If I had a GameCube, I probably would've only played it for Link, and would've never discovered the other awesome characters and became a long-time fan.
Cassandra best girl.
Soul Calibur 1 was my first video game of all time. My mom took me to this small candy shop right across from where i got my hair cut as a kid. They had three arcade machines, Galaga, a candy crush type block matching game (ew) and Soul Calibur. I played that arcade machine whenever i could. To the point highschool students would play me at 7-8 years old and id crush then using actually combos and moves on the joysticks. It was just a wonderful time. And then Soul Calibur 2 came out and i brought it home and played it for the next 3 years
The arcade soul calibur isn't really soul calibur 1, it's more like soul calibur 0.75. Can't believe there is no talk about the Dreamcast version in the comments. Bunch of Millenials. *cracks open can of white monster*
Great editing work and coverage of this series. ou should definitely have more viewers.
Thank you very much!
This series is so underrated, but I played this way more than I played tekken 3. The countless hours of soulcalibur ii spent in my lifetime, and I'm only 12
We are so few but we love our game so much.
Edit: That clip of Cervantes taking a trip to Kingdom Fuck resonates within my very soul, well played.
When I played SoulCalibur 2 I was very young and wasn’t even into gaming so even though I possessed all 3 versions I didn’t know who any of the guest characters were or even in original characters. But the GameCube version caught my interest the most since I really liked this green elf dude. SC2 led me to many other games and its my favorite game of all time.
SC2 was solid all around. I bloody loved the Intro (never skipped it) and the Weapon Master mode was genius.
SC3 is my favorite sofar with it's Chara creation, specific fighting styles for these, the Chronicles of the Sword mode which blew my mind (but also frustrated me specifically, cause my first chara was a Dancer girl with... was it a fan or twin fans... whatever the case, I had a hard time but did it in the end)
And SC4 which was ok overall. Primarly the VS. against my siblings aswell as the Dress Up I could do in there (putting Amy and Talim in sexy underwear because i could, but the fact that the equipment had stats, made this overall more over practicallity than vanity... but is was still enjoyable overall)
Right now I'm kinda hyped for SC6, considering that the Singleplayer aspect seems to be filled to to the brim this time again, aside other interesting developments.I just wish Amy was in the rooster, though it dosen't make sense in the lore sadly...
I completely understand how fast and free 8 way run feels but as someone who only had tekken games as a kid I do really like having to master movement aswell as all your moves. I like tech in all aspects of my fighting games
That's interesting. I've heard people hate resident evil 4 because of the movement, and I loved that game. Hm
I am so glad you brought up the downside of having guest characters like Link brought in and that is honestly how I've deep down felt despite thinking he was a fun character to play. It's true that trying to use guest characters to sell a game risks your game series life span because most of the people will only play for the guest and once the guest is gone, they won't come back most of the time. Thankfully for my brother and I who's first Soul game we ever owned was Soul Calibur 2 for the Gamecube, we ended up loving the main cast of characters more and stuck with the series since then and it prompted me to go back and play Soul Blade and Soul Calibur 1 and sure, Soul Blade is a frustrating game to play, I can see why the game was green-lit for Soul Calibur 1 that only improved things from there. Soul Calibur 1 was just... Wow. I was totally missing out back in 1998 as the only memory I had of that game was playing it once or twice in an arcade and thinking Ivy had a long ponytail for some reason. I was 8 at the time, I didn't know any better lol.
But yeah, this was a pretty great video. I was a bit skeptical I won't lie because there aren't many videos that give a serious, in-depth look to the series and even though I myself reviewed the games, I've never been a technical person so they definitely lack in that regard so it's always good to see people who know the inside technicalities of the game.
Looking forward to part 2. :)
Hey, I watched your review along with others long before I made this one. I wanted to give it the technical treatment because it was more only real angle. Thanks for making soulcalibur content!
Ah I see, well yeah again, great job and I'm really looking forward to part 2. On the by, I noticed that your footage for Soul Calibur 2 was upped to HD format and while I know there is a Soul Calibur 2 HD release for the PS3, I hear it didn't come with Link but yet your footage looked super HD. I was curious how you managed to make the footage/gameplay capture look so polished? HD upscaler?
I've been known to play games on PC and in their original formats at different times
Ah okay, thanks for answering. :)
Good vid! Great to see another Yun main! Saw the SC2 clips you used esp. the tournament one...NICE!
Sorry it took me so long to watch this, I don't know how I missed the notification. Soulcalibur might just be my favorite fighting game series to play. Also you're totally right about marketing their own characters and not "guest characters." I personally love Nightmare but all the characters have something to love about them.
Also DAYUM SON!! WTF is with this 24k views nonsense?! You've come a long way since you 100+ view days. Keep it up man.
Soul Blade/Soul Edge deserves more respect. It is THE reason Soul Calibur even exist. Also, one thing that til this day, Soul Blade has that none of the modern Soul games have, is that awesome intro.
Why do things automatically deserve respect
KBash Well, considering that in this case, it paved the way to one of your favorite franchises, I think it earned a bit more respect than you give it. And reading a lot of the comments below, it looks like many would agree. Also, the game is not as bad as you make it sound. Sure, it's quite primitive compared to later games, but for 1995, it was quite impressive.
Soul Calibur 3 still the best for me
I liked it more than I thought I would. But that's for the next video
I was the Link kid.
Can't wait for 6
same
Lol I mainly picks mitsu bc I liked a samurai swords
I call it the FF7-Effect. There is an existing series but one game is SUPER popular with "normie" people. Others include Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Tales of Symphonia, ES 4: Oblivion, Fall Out 4, GTA3, and Wii Sports.
Trying to play The Witcher is literal torture even for seasoned lovers of jank though
@@greenhowie I call that "2nd Season (Polishing) Effect." First season they have ideas. Second season they polish it to what will be its identity "till it becomes unprofitable." It applies to video games as well. Megaman to 2. Sonic to 2. Phantasia [snes] to PS1. Seiken Densestu to 2. Pokemon R/B to G/S.
5:17 thanks for that imagery
This is the most in depth video about Soul Calibur I've seen so far. Can't wait for part 2. Great video dude.
"Sit down, grab a hot chocolate" XD
I think you make a lot of interesting points. The point about Link however is one I think that has some other things to be considered beyond what you discussed in your video. Link's inclusion without a doubt helped the Gamecube version become the best selling version. But does that really mean that Bandai Namco have devalued their own IP by using other more popular guest characters to sell their game?
I wouldn't say that including a guest character like Link devalues the IP. I mean Smash has included several guest characters now and if anything? Smash has become a marketing tool for several of Nintendo's other franchises. Characters like Snake, Pac-Man, Bayonetta, Cloud, Ryu, all carried a certain degree of excitement but they don't diminish the existing cast of characters. Perhaps it's just down to sheer artistic talent that makes them all feel like they belong.
The use of guest characters in Soul Calibur is a marketing tool. Seeing Link or Geralt on the box creates recognition and draws the casual audience.
To that point, SCII was my entry point, and yes Link was the character I was ultimately drawn to because I had that established connection with the Zelda series. But let's just say that Link wasn't in SCII? Would I have then had a connection with the Soul Calibur series? Probably not. If Link had not been in SCII the game then would have had to rely on it's existing characters. Would I have bought SCIII, IV, or even V on PS2/PS3, if not for that first experience playing Soul Calibur on the Cube with Link? Probably not unless it was on a whim. While my own experience is not indicative of everyone's, it was Link that got me into Soul Calibur, and because of that; I still have a fondness for the series. I even have come to love many of the other characters. Because of Link being in that game, I gave a series a shot that I previously may have never given the time of day.
I even managed to convince my friend to pick up SCVI because they liked the idea of the character creator. They typically only play Geralt or Geralt as a style for a custom. I have encouraged them to try others and I frequently will swap between my own custom and several of my other favorites. Sophitia, Xianghua, Taki, Ivy, Seong Mina and yes now Geralt. The more characters you can play as or understand the better :).
Also I literally had to buy a PS2 for SC3. Oof. RIP Gamecube boiz!
RICH KID
jk lol
to Soul Edge's credit it was the first of its kind and it has it limitations due to being a 3d fighter of that caliber ( no pun intended) that had very great graphics, effects and appeal when it came out. I had great memories playing the game as it was my first game that I ever played as a child when my dad bought me a PS1 back then and one of the reasons I got into fighting games growing up.
You described my Soul Calibur experience quite accurately. I only bought the game when I was younger because I saw it at a game trade store and Link was on the cover. I was one of those casuals just playing Link in Master mode and having fun with the game. Then I tried the forth one to be Darth Vader and that was it. However Soul Calibur 6 is one I may come back to. It reminds me of 2 a lot. Awesome video, really brought be back to the good old days of playing this game with my Dad. His favorite character was Maxi.
Soul Calibur 2 is so amazing, still got my Gamecube out playing it to this day. Dang, wish there were more entries in the series.
Really well done vid dude. SC2 was the best I cant even lie. Even the ps2 version brought so many non fighting game players into playing it. Many of my school back in the day never played a fighter other than owning SC2 on the ps2. I was happy they were getting a taste of fighting games.
Man that part with Nightmare in the intro. Gave me chills of nostalgia
Great vid, great delivery.
But that pantie drop gag is an instant subscribe. Bravo.
Soul Edge and Blade was fantastic for the age. Great game that delivered an immersion that was hard to match for it's kind of game.
so I've heard
about 500 times
Ohh man I played SC2 so much on the GameCube back in the day. I have to admit, the female character design kept bringing me back lol, game was fun too.
Want to hear something funny? I actually got my first (and only proper) Soulcalibur game after playing one at a friend's house.
It was during elementary school, and few afternoons spent hanging out with a friend. We played against each other a lot with only a handful of characters. It was fantastic dumb fun, and padded out the time we spent playing co-op (this is foreshadowing for those who know the significance of that). I asked him, "what game is this". He in turn tells me it's Soulcalibur.
Sometime later, I ordered a Soulcalibur game and received a copy in the mail. It was fun, but, it wasn't the one I remembered. Over time... it grew on me. I played it much more than I would the other one.
As it turns out, I had bought Soulcalibur 2.
The game that hooked me at that friends house? Soulcalibur Legends.
So no, I wasn't hooked by Link (I actually hated the Legend of Zelda back then to be counter-culture). I accidentally got the best game in the franchise because I got hooked by the absolute dogshit worst one.
im curious to hear what you have to say about 4 and 5
i've played every game to death since arcade. having put over 6,000+ hours in 4 and 4,000+ hours in 2 and 3 each i have to say 4 is must balanced gameplay. and 5 is... casual in all the wrong ways. i remember when they announced it 3 months before release famous last words "we are going to appeal to a wider audience. all i know is i was completely alienated from the massive changes besides the obviuos what it me in the heart especially was the broken characters frames. i never cared about frame data before because i didnt need to learn it, until 5 play as pyra or lose
I only played SC 3 and 5.
SC 3 is definitely one of my favourite games on the ps2, but the save data corruption bug...that thing was annoying af :/
SC3 is really cool!
I am a great fan of SC i still playing Sc 2 HD and 5, cant wait for SC VI the create character mode look awesome (I dont speak english i dont know if is correctly xd)
Juan Gómezxd That was completely understandable you only had a few grammar mistakes. Even people with English as the first language mess that up though.
SOULCALIBUR 2, BEST INTRO, BEST MUSIC, BEST ROSTER, PERIOD.
I love the Soul calibur franchise! Super Smash is my 2nd favorite fighter.
same haha
Amazing video man! Very informative and your comedy definitely made my chuckle. Definitely earned yourself a sub. Hyped for the next vid!

Cool ! , Subscribed. I'll be waiting for The second part
Holy shit man, You have my Sub and my respect! This is the first video of yours I've seen and if it's any indication of what's to come, I so IN! And I can't wait to check out any other current content on this channel Great Job bro!
I started with the PS2 Version of SC2, got all characters, happy.
Then I realized that I had to play the HD version for the complete experience, and then I realized all the characters need to be unlocked again. I saw it. I immediately knew I didn’t wanna play Weapon Master again.
Soul Calibur IV is my favorite Soul Calibur game. I enjoy it's gameplay more than the other SC games.
I felt like that a long time ago
@@KBash I've had this opinion since SC4 came out. Could change with SC6 tho.
I owned and played every game in the series, except SC II.
I often heard that it was supposedly the best game, but only 10 years after the fact.
Anyway, I thought Soul Edge was mind blowing, and that opening gives me goose bumps.
"I played 2 because it had Link in it..."
Me: *MY FISTS IMMEDIATELY CLENCH, READY TO UNLEASH THEIR BURNING FURY AT ANY MOMENT*
"... But I also played 3 and whatnot after that."
Me: *My hands relax, and I breathe a sigh of relief.*
Wait wait wait wait WAIT
Yun-Seong is your favorite character?
we're family now, this isn't up for debate
Hellll yeah
omg i havent seen that sc2 intro in over 15 years my gosh i need to look this shit up right now lol
Thank you ! I love Soul Calibur so much ! But none of my gaming friends own it. 😢 it’s so nice to hear someone else talk about this beautiful game.
The best thing to do in SC2 is to pick Yoshi and launch yourself as far as possible out of the ring with that dive > kangaroo kick > helicopter combo move.
Nice to see one of your videos get big, dude. One of the best parts of this video is that a) it isn't a 25 minute walkthrough of a story and b) the humour has been refined while still feeling like your own. Good job man!
Best part of the video for me is how Kbash's opening monologue is rhythmically syncopated with the background music.
I remember PlayStation fanboys coming over my house and playing soul calibur on my dreamcast and leaving absolutely stunned. There was no other fighting game that could touch it at the time.
I'm super excited to welcome a new generation to the stage of history.
Subbed, well produced.
Righteous, Soulcalibur 2 was my introduction to the series and I started with the PS2 version then later got an Xbox and played that version. I was able to play the GameCube version at a friend's house. I was already a Tekken fan so I recognized Heihachi, but I wasn't familiar with Link or Spawn. Soulcalibur 3's my favorite in the series, and I wish it was ported to PSN. : (
"I have human fingers and what is THAT?" sums up my attitude towards fighting games. Which is a shame since they often have amazing character design and super flashy awesome moves.
UGH SC2. I fucking adore that game... Link, Necrid, Yunsung and his invisible sword, that fuckin eyeball guy, Taki and her godly jiggle physics... So many good memories.
Can’t wait for part 2 excellent video
If you ask someone their Favorite Soul Calibur game and they say, "The one with Link in it" CASUAL NPC ALERT!
Honestly mines 2 bc it’s fun and the gameplay is addictive, lol I never played it bc of link
I remember BEGGING my parents to get a PS2 just for the third game. I think it was a Double Helix/Super Flash Bros video on Newgrounds that tuned me into SC3 being a PS2 exclusive and it killed me that I'd miss out on seeing my boy Nightmare. I don't remember when we ended up getting a PS2 but I know the first game I bought with my own money was SC3.
Just seeing how awesome the EVO 2018 Soul Calibur 6 tournament was, I am really excited to see some more competitive play!
Doood these videos are gonna blow you up!!! You have some really good content and I'm stoked to see what other stuff you come up with. Great stuff man!
Y'know i really like your format reminds me of Icons from G4
Even if i don't entirely agree with you on some points on the fall Video overall this was a fun set of videos to watch hope your channel grows
Link brought me into the series, but because the third game was PS2 exclusive, I couldn’t get into the series and lost interest.
Only ever had SC2, and mained Kilik. Never bought another, so your experience of fans in comparison to SC3 is pretty bang on.
The reaction of seeing soul calibur on the Dreamcast was caught perfectly. Convinced me to not eat lunch for and mow lawns to get a Dreamcast. I was 13 that year.
