Indeed some I've grown for awhile and have grown to be, others were lucky finds at garage sales that someone else grew for years, while some of them are not mine and are for sale on my eBay. This monster Angraecum was not mine...it sold yesterday to someone in Ohio on my eBay...it was bittersweet...but I have immortalized the memory via youtube...so its memory lives on through this video. Thanks for watching and HAPPY GROWING! :)
Fantastic😊 I love my Crestwood and getting to know my sesquipadale (if I spelled that correctly), that I purchased at Tamiami orchid fest last month. No spikes yet on my Crestwood but still feeling hopefull. Over the holidays, our home depot was sellIing Williamsburg for 79.00😐and I was not willing to pay that price. It took a while for them to sell. The store said that most went back to the vendor due to space and price. Thanks for sharing and happy growing.
John had said that he went to one of the box office stores and found them as well, some with 4 or 5 spikes and he was fortunate to be able to snatch up a few because they sold out. Not sure though on how much they were selling them for...although I can say the bigger angraecums in general are a bit pricey...they go for a pretty penny here as well. I am hoping that your Crestwood blooms for you soon! ...and indeed good luck as well with the sesquipedale...(hope I spelled that right as well! LOL!) aka The Darwin's Orchid...I do love that one!
MY Orchid Adventures Yes, John mentioned that they were a lot cheaper where he lived...I hope I grow to love my sesquipedale😊, thanks big sis. Looking forward to those blooms. Happy growing...
I don't know which I love the most about the Darwin's Orchid...the blooms or the story behind the blooms...He was an amazing gentlemen to stick to his orchid guns regardless of how absolutely mad people though he was...and to come to find out he was right all along...that is how important it is for us to stay true to who we are and what we believe it...they say that the best revenge...is MASSIVE SUCCESS! ...and I do agree! HAPPY GROWING!
Thank you...and almost year round...in the winter I have to be watchful. I sustained severe injuries to my orchid because of the frost that we had...but you live and learn. I a way to keep my orchids safe during the winter...I am hoping for a greenhouse soon!
Excellent example of the 'Williamsburg' you have there, Maria. Quite a few came into South Florida earlier this year via Better-Gro, which were both in bud and flower with some having 3, 4 and 5 spikes. Though they sold out very fast, I was lucky to latch on to a few and had the joy of watching them open over a period of two weeks. Great luck with yours, Maria... I love how 'bushy' it is... ☺
Thank you and that is so awesome! I am glad that you got to snatch some up! You always find the best deals at your big box office store! They are definitely worth having! ...and that monster den. is coming right along producing buds on almost every cane...I am getting so antsy to find out what it is! I can't wait! HAPPY GROWING DEAR FRIEND! :)
This orchid exists in my country Madagascar, but I ask you what kind of substratum do you use ( pine bark?), next question: do you use fertilizer to make it bloom . Thank you for the reply
Thank you for watching and I am glad that the information was beneficial for you! I love the Darwin's orchid...but I don't know which I love more...the actual orchid or the story behind it...He is a great example of how to go against the grain and go against what everyone else says no matter how much they put you down...always stay true to who you are and what you believe in...Bravo Mr. Charles Darwin...BRAVO!
Nice video. I currently have one with 3 spikes .its indoors and my wife says she loves the fragrance although I can't even tell 😂. Interesting to see that you nail polish looks just like in the video From the past 😁
Thank you! ...and it is awesome to hear that you have one with 3 spikes!!! CONGRATS! Did you smell it in the day time or at night...because usually that is when you can smell it the most...and how long its been in bloom can also effect its potency as well...and my nail polish is actually different. The one that I have on now is is a silver with different color confetti circles...while the blast from the past footage is clear with black and white confetti strips. They may look similar I guess because it has somewhat of a visual texture to the polish but different in color and shapes...thanks for noticing the polishes...you are so detail orientated! LOL!
MY Orchid Adventures Hi. It has been in bloom for about 5 weeks. I usually come close to it during the afternoon. My wife is the one that comes close to it in the evening thats probably why. I will be taking it back outside soon as I see it MISSES the sunlight . Once again great video
Okay that is probably why...the fragrance is usually most potent at night because they are attempting to attract their night time pollinators. It will appreciate being back outdoors I am sure. Some of my orchids are dreading being indoors as well...they keep peeking out the window and reminecing about how good they had it outside. I think I will be putting them back outside soon...I believe we are now in the clear from any frost temperatures...at least I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for watching and HAPPY GROWING! :)
My Darwin Orchid has been outside with bright light NO direct sun. I've had it sitting on pebbles to up the humidity factor. However, I've just noticed some sporadic black spots on the backside of the leaves. Is this a disease?
I have a Darwins variety and I’m growing it in an Inorganic media which seems to be working well. The only problem I’m having is algae growth in the pot. I’m thinking that it’s because I’m using a clear plastic Carry out soup container. Which is the best pot best for it?
That is an awesome variety! The best pot is what works best for you! LOL! If it is growing well for you...the algae isn't really a major issue...unless it bothers you that much, then change it into an opaque container that isn't clear to keep down the algae growth.
Awwwwwwww...I'm starting to post more videos...I'll keep trying to make some time specifically for that. I do hope to get better. Thanks for being patient with me and I'm glad you liked the video! YAAAAAAY! :)
The Angraecum Crestwood is an awesome orchid...I am hoping yours does not go to Orchid Heaven...STAY AWAY FROM THE ORCHID LIGHT LITTLE FELLA! LOL! Best of luck to you and I am hoping that this time does well for you! I will be keeping my fingers crossed!
LOL!!!! Why thank you very much! The orchid is a fabulous orchid...I am a sucker for specimen size orchids! ...and the hair OH MY...sometimes I do get tired of having to take care of it...but hubby will not allow me to cut it! LOL! But maybe one day you shall see me with short hair...LOL! :)
MY Orchid Adventures it's a show stopper for sure. I love my colors but sucker just as well for alba colored orchids as well! They are so unique in their own rights!
You seem to own a lot of specimen plants. That's a tall angraecum! Well, happy growing ! Thank you for sharing.

P.S. The orchids that I have... I've actually never owned...I fear, they've actually own me! LOL!
