      Thank you for joining me on my catasetum propagation adventures! I would definitely give it a go. I have learned that they are so easy to propagate. I even did the "LAZY MAN'S PROPAGATION" method on it... The laziest way to propagate in the whole entire orchid world...LOL! I will do a video on it. I can't wait to see your result when you do yours. Please keep me posted!

    Love seeing you again. I have a catta. that sent out it’s new growth about 5 inches above the bottom (where all the old cut off roots are), about the middle of the mother bulb. It has some nice 1 to 2 inch roots coming out. To top that off, it fell out of my hand and broke the top off the bulb. Help, your advice please.

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  6 лет назад

      Thank you and good to see you as well...So it broke the top of the new growth? If it broke off completely where the new leaves would normally grow then unfortunately that will be the end of that pseudo bulb growing any more leaves. The good news is that usually when a new growth is damaged the orchid will throw off another new growth, sometimes even two. Either way you should be okay other than having to mend your broken heart over the loss, which is always hard...but it will bounce back and recover I'm sure!

    I have a Catasetums that started to rot at the base & roots. Extreme, yes . I cut it above the rot & put cinnamon on it . I don’t know if it will produce a new growth or roots. I am going to try, I don’t want to lose it. Paula

    Very interesting video, as usual, thank you, Maria!
    I do have a question for you, I've recently got my first 2 catasetum type orchids and a chycis one, all 3 are seedlings with their first bulb about half an inch big. They had leaves and a small nubbin when they were shipped to me, however the leafs all yellowed out during transport. They are planted in small pots with sphag, what would you suggest I should do about watering, I know you have experience with all of them, from watching your video (chycic bractenses, monierara millenium magic, cycnodes wine delight)?
    The Millenium Magic's new grow is leafed out and has its own roots, so I am watering it normally, but the Cycd. and Cys.'s new growth are very small with no roots yet.
    Should I consider them dormant and stop watering until the new growth starts to get bigger, with their own roots, taking into account how ery small the old psbulb is, I'm not sure it can feed the new growth, and, also, they still have their old roots.
    Thank you in advance!

    Do you think it would be possible to attach an orchid to a cornstalk plant while in the house?

    • @PictureMaria1
      @PictureMaria1  6 лет назад

      Are you talking about an actual living corn plant or one that has been dried out?
