    My family has been in the tow and recovery business for 66 years now and we still have our first wrecker. This is absolutely amazing. When I saw my first rotator years ago I knew that technology was a game changer but 100 tons is unbelievable. Total revolutionary idea into the the heavy tow industry. Thanks Miller for trhe amazing demo!

    Two suggestions: As the driver's side is where the danger is because of close by traffic, why not make the cab easier to use the passenger side to get in and out by making those seat fold up out of the way for the driver.
    Increase the amount of steps to get in and out and add grab bars as there are a lot of older and shorter drivers in the field.

    You guys really need to contact airlines about buying your light duty & medium duty wreckers. The biggest one we have at ORD airport is that grey single axle. It’s a vulcan. We really need a better light duty since the one we have is a 2015 F250 SD with a frame mounted boom. We don’t get enough lift to properly pick up the equipment vs if we had like a Chevron auto grip 2 wheel lift.

    Very impressive . BUT I do think that there is one flaw on this design . And that is you can't alway have full spread on your stabilizers . So I think some boom travel should be sacrificed for counter weight storage . If the counter weight can be placed onto the stabilizer that could help tremendously . But I will leave that idea to the engineers .

    Nice truck and an impressive wrecker to be sure. One question keeps recurring in my mind though........why? What I mean is, back in the day (late 80's-early 90's) when my partner and I use to run recoveries both private and CHP rotation, we did it all with a 3 axle KW-35 ton Century body and a 3 axle Ford LTL 9000-35 ton Challenger body. We did it all with two trucks. We had a 2 axle Ford L-9000 with a No-Mar 10-30 underlift used mostly just for towing. No rotators or traveling boom assemblies ever needed. Let's be honest here. How often does the necessity arise for sky hooking 100,000 pounds with 1 truck and be able to rotate it from side to side? I guess I can see the convenience of having a rotator, I just can't justify the expense.

    • @AlMcpherson79
      @AlMcpherson79 3 года назад

      Hm, that's why I keep thinking, not that there aren't times having a 'tator is required rather than overkill, but there's also times where it makes more sense to use a proper mobile crane than to use a rotator. Often I see some of these used and, I think, "Hang on, because you need to use your two winches, you can't rotate the load, relative to the boom, only to the rotator truck (aka a slew). The only benefit a rotator has over a mobile crane, when you remove the tow capability (apparently, an 'optional extra') is storage cubbies. the benefit of a mobile crane over a rotator then became, reach, height, variable capacity through the hook, you dont need to freespool and pull the winch line out yourself, which if you need to double back or triple or quadruple it for extra capacity (at the cost of speed), on a 'tator, turns into more of a back-breaker than the job already is. And on a mobile crane, there is (usually) a cab to stay warm in :D Came here after watching a vid on Liebherr's channel for the G-BKF that makes me slightly surprised they haven't already gotten into the 'tator' market.

      Um what? But of a broad brush? I was in EMS. So if you were unhappy with one Ambulance crew you would endanger everyone? You realize there are often driver, passengers around when tow trucks are moving stuck, stalled traffic? The tow driver keeps a ear to traffic sounds, looking. Driver concerned about his car, the kids might step out. ALWAYS move over if possible. If not slow the heck down. (But don’t stop unless safety issue)
