Did that really say 101,520 thousand pounds!!! I figured 75-80 that’s insane!! Trucks like this will never be electric. It would have to pull around it’s own power plant.
How dare you! ~ Greta
Never say never. Modern trains move more weight and they are diesel-electric, electric motors powered by diesel generator.
@@killer2600 for certain situations yes it can be good for diesel electric. What about container ships. Those are straight of engine to a shaft I believe.
@@killer2600 yes but trains are also metal to metal, less friction than rubber to asphalt. Not saying it’s impossible to ever happen but it’s a really bad comparison
@@Rey6Foot7 You're neglecting weight difference and conflating rolling resistance with surface friction. It's already known the torque advantage electric motors have over internal combustion engines. The only remaining issue is how to power them. Trains do it with diesel generators. A truck already runs on diesel so they could do that and it would still technically be electric per the original comment which didn't specify it had to run on batteries; which is also possible - does anyone remember how long rechargeable batteries lasted 30 years ago. Technology doesn't stay the same, it advances at a pretty quick rate.
You had me at spreader er chains and snatch blocks.
Even when she sheds weight she is still 100,000lbs yea no towing just straight flexing hydros love the rig!!!
Petroff Towing has very clean equipment I see them towing I live in the ST,LOUIS area and never see there stuff dirty.
Thank you! Ed is OCD about cleanliness and can’t handle dirty equipment so that’s why the wash bay is always occupied at our place. 🤣
You roll up with that machine, you mean business. Very cool machine.
Wow, One mean looking rig. Beautiful design on it as well. Thanks for the footage, Look forward to seeing more!
Thanks - working on it but just need a customer ok with footage and schedules to line up
Great to see the new owner is so enthusiastic 🤣🤣🤣
My thoughts exactly!

Beautiful truck there boss, that’s an incredible heavy duty truck thanks for sharing.
Wow!! What a beautiful monster of a truck! Heavy duty to the extreme!

Thanks for Taking the time to make this great video and sharing it with us. Looking fwd to see some videos of it in action.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful rig!
Beautiful truck good luck with it...god bless and be safe!
Thank you and same to you
My goodness, that is quite the rig. I love the pinstriping and how, overall, the truck isn't very flashy. Some companies have their bigger trucks all done up. Looking forward to some more videos of this thing working!
Thank you! We have the same hand-stripes look through the years - he isn’t a fan of wraps so stays old school around here
@@PetroffTowing cuz its not flashy, its classy
She's a big girl! Nice truck
The color is beautiful the truck is magnificent
Thank you - they did a great job on this one
Thanks so much for the information she is a really nice looking
Thank you - we appreciate it
to be honest, that's a mobile crane with towing capabilities.
Beautiful rig and kept in amazing condition with some serious attention to detail.
I had another guy say this, and I agree, but the main difference is I don’t think the boom can rotate a full 360 degrees
@@calebalt1557 It can.
I see no tow bar nor under-reach.......... so it appears to have no towing capabilities.
@SmithFarmTilton tow bars don't come stock but you can add it as a option when buying the truck
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you
Beautiful Truck
Thank you
Let’s see it all lite up 🚨🚨🚨
Awesome truck
Shes a Stunning Recovery truck
That bad boy is more equipped than a Fire truck. Must be one hefty bill for whoever's gonna call for such a beast.
It also costs more than a fire truck.
I don't know about a Heavy Rescue, but we'll call this a Heavy Tow!
ITS COST IS $1,700 PER HOUR .
@@snoopdogie187 COST OF THIS BEAST IS $ 1.49 MILLION. THEY CHARGE $ 1,700 PER HOUR WHEN WORKING .
Big ol truck!
and Jamie Davis thought his truck was cool, holy cow that things a beast
Beyond a beast. Ron Pratt's 1150R is only 73.000 loaded.
Jamie bought his rotator used
@@sheepdog271 No, actually he bought it brand new and picked it up from the builder himself.
Can we please get videos of her at work?
that is one big beautiful machine ,, glad i don't have to pay the bill for it ,,guys call you when the shit bit the dynamite and blew to hell ,,that beast means business
,i personally have a passion for old equipment ,,i own a relatively rare holmes 850 tow truck ,the truck itself is a 1974 GMC 6x6 twin screw powered by a monster 12V-92 detroit diesel, ,it's been used as a farm truck for most of the last 40 years ,i've owned it since 1995 ,, 1 of 2 built by omaha standard truck equipment in 1974 and purchased new by my grandfather ,,i use it with my salvage business for loading equipment and dragging things out of ravines
Ed is a fan of his old stuff too. His only complaint is they make you work for it and he’s too old with bad shoulders now. 🤣 Your 6x6 sounds cool. We will probably do videos of some of our older ones next.
@@PetroffTowing it's an old monster that's slower than holy hell but it'll drag a mountain no matter what gear you chose and it'll wear out your shoulder shifting gears ,,it's an old 5x4 road ranger twin stick and that's what i hate about it
- This beast needs to be in a “Terminator” movie.
Beautiful wrecker, I wish I had a unit like that then I was driving....few Holmes 750s, some scotch blocks a bunch of snatch blocks and a lot of time...
Those were the days 😂 wear a shoulder out for sure
@@PetroffTowing oh yeah especially just on a simple tow ...on the ground on your side lifting those chairs over the front axle...10.years of that is why I became a Police Officer..lol
Wow that is one beautiful truck, very impressive !! After reading some of the other comments, who cares that you took some of the stuff off. It's your truck to do with what you want. stay safe, I'd say keep it shinny side up rubber side down, but then you guys wouldn't have anything to do. So stay safe
Thanks Brad! 👍🏻 Some people just feel better criticizing others. I’ve grown up with haters so learned to just focus on what I can control and put my energy into that rather than wasting it on what other people are doing. 🤷🏻♀️ appreciate it and stay safe as well!
that's a big fella he can tow everything all at once lol
High speed mobile crane, just looks like a tow truck. Very nice when you need one.
I think it qualifies as a tow truck because I don’t think the boom can do a 360 degree turn like a mobile crane, but other than that, I agree
What a beast no good over here in the uk it’s just too long the roads ain’t as big as they are over the pond, there’s a towing firm near where I live they have a 5 axle Volvo wrecker with a 75 ton rotator it’s a 250 ton chassis with the Volvo 16 litre 750bhp engine you always see it with a loaded 44 ton truck on the back they said it’s a Swiss Army knife can do everything but bigger and better stay safe out there lads
Yes totally different infrastructure. Stay safe as well!
Would that be millers on longton ??
Miller Industries is right down the road from me
Let’s see it lit up, I wanna see that Mars light going
I imagine not many bridges this beast can cross.
102000 pounds of pure muscle ,brilliant
All I herd was “we took it out cause we don’t need it” 🤣😂
Let’s see it in action 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Meaning overcharged for what they might not need
He acted like he didn’t want the damn thing
@@wileydickerson2511 I know right. Lol
Wow!!!!!
Quite a privilige to buy the worlds mpst expensive and most capable recovery truck, and then complain about how you dont need half of it.. does the guy in video actually use it?
It wasn't a complaint but statement. Miller did not scrimp on any of accessories but we do not need a lot of the things for the jobs we got it to do. It does get used. Daily? No. But neither do our larger rotators. We have a fleet of other trucks that do the bulk of the work and this was purchased for specialized jobs.
Not only does he run it, but he wrote the HUGE check for it! So if he thinks there is too much gear in it, its his to do with as he feels fit.
Because he can state whatever he wants about his truck ? Take it as a complaint or as the truth which it is ...
Yup all the little trucks pay for the big guy's till they are need.
It’s basically a portable road legal mini harbour crane, this thing is wicked
But what about those M1070 HET Wreckers tho? I seen a lot of those lol
You’ve made it in the tow world when this little guys in yer garage
Love the M-100. I guess you got the version without the undereach. Wrecker Rick from Murphy's Diesel has an M-100 with an undereach. Is the single 90 gallon fuel tank for cutting weight? Rick said it took him 50 pit stops for fuel from Lynch Trucks to his yard in Arizona.
So do you need over weight permits year round for that monster? It is a great looking truck there is something about those w-900 that just look cool
Some states have exceptions when it comes to recovery vehicles. My state allows them up to 150k lbs, so he would still be able to tow some trucks with this setup. This isn't my field of work, so I don't know all the regulations, I just came across this information when looking for what does apply to me. I also saw that if its being used to clear a disabled vehicle from a highway, there is no restrictions besides have a mile range.
Any particular reason you’d prefer the 18 speed over an Allison rds4700 (7 speed automatic)? I can understand if it was a manual, but you got the auto-shift. If you’re going that route, why not go with the Allison?
Beautiful it's a tow truck on steroids wow
Absolutely an amazing truck. Can't wait to see it in action making money
Thank you - Miller Industries did a fine job. It’s been out making money that’s why it was a dirty mess but customers do not want some jobs posted especially of lifting or specialized jobs and certain scenes Ed is solo and not filming. It is on the radar
How much can you handle in weight when the stick fully out ?
Do you have to pull permits to even be able to drive that truck down the road where it is over 80,000 lbs? Nice truck by the way.
I think there was a previous comment that was similar but yes it does have a special permit and thanks. It's a beaut, Clark. :)
Question why was it ordered automatic vs an 18 speed ? I know it won't be towing but its pretty heavy itself
Because the old guy has bad shoulders. LOL honestly it’s because it shifts so much due to weight, it would be a bear for anyone to manually do especially on congested city streets around here.
When is the new freightliner coming home? Cant wait to see it rooling around.
Hopefully this week pending weather and how busy
@@PetroffTowing I’ll have to stop by and see it too.
👍
I'm having fun building 1 out of a 1/25 scale peterbilt 359 model I got for xmas
You have your work cut out but it will be awesome when finished!
The real one should have been a pete too 😂
Should have been a Western Star but the timing did not work out 😎
Very nice recovery truck or really badly laid out mobile crane? (With side lockers)
101k lbs. ,,,, wow. I heavy haul with a 60T lowbed and gross out 105k quite often, but it has 3 more axles and bends in the middle. That must be fun to run around town with. At least I know who to call if my load falls off in your area!!!!
Hopefully we don’t have to meet that way but yes she needs a little operating room to get around. The Simard Suspension helps
He'd tare your truck up big time.
Couple million dollar truck and the outrigger pads are held in by a bungee cord? Wow!
It's a very nice and immensely impressive truck. I'd like to see a night time light show. How much did it weigh in at ? Didn't catch the scale numbers
It looked like 101,520
@@tedbownas2748 wow....ok thanks. That sucker is HEAVY
Wow
Lmao i hear a few time we got a lot of that we dont need it lmao but in the end man can pull some big stuff out of a big ditch
What was the weight?
How do you run it , we are an 80,000 lbs state unless you permitted. Wow 101,520lbs
What is the turning radius of that beast? Awesome rig!
About 40 acres ..😊
Really surprised that’s it’s an automated transmission most wreckers still have a manual less problems and things to go wrong
And that is what a million or so dollars looks like. I wonder how many years before the initial investment is recouped and what the life expectancy of the truck is.
Well seeing as when this is out and about you can expect a minimum of a $6k bill do the math.
Would love to know at what point does a vehicle/truck require this to be sent on a call vs another "heavy duty" tow truck? What potential broken-down vehicle is on our highways that warrants this beast, and what is a "minimum charge" figure that a customer would face if this is what's sent? I know that might be confidential information, but could you give us a ballpark figure?
This isn’t for breakdowns but specialized recovery - heavy equipment, rail, or other heavy lifting jobs. We have a fleet of heavies that do more of the breakdowns and general truck tows and recoveries and then multiple rotators. And we usually bill by the job.
I was going to ask a similar question. That is a giant truck to just have sitting. But it does look amazing, what a machine.
If you think that is big, you obviously haven't seen the military tank recovery vehicle, capable of hauling around an M1 Abrams tank.
If I have to call for that sob I’m just gonna scratch the whole project and call it lesson learned..
Can we get a light show soon?
I will try once the weather breaks
@@PetroffTowing Thanks!! :D
Can you give us what an average tow bill looks like? What are your rates?
Standard heavy tows are billed generally by the hour and the specialty jobs are by the job based on time, equipment and skill.
It laughs at loaded tractor trailers
Only problem now is you are gonna have haters saying maybe you left a axle off the scale cause they cant see it on it
I thought about that after we got the footage 🤦🏻♀️ I also had some technical issues with some vertical video segments but, hey, I tried and new at this. But no it was all on there and still a monster. We took about 7k of accessories out and have them in storage.
How much does a truck like that costs.
So you went to the scales and didn't share the weight?
Does that rig require an overweight permit everytime she is dispatched out for a pick?
Has an annual special permit but it’s weight is a factor in some jobs like areas in downtown with old sewers and underground tunnels
And it isn't a bad price especially if used in the right area to where it is used on a daily basis. A truck like this can make back its 1.5 million price tag in 5-7 yrs maybe.......lol
Are you going to be doing eny recovery videos ?
We will when we have all of the stars align. The other day it was on a job that the customer wouldn’t have had a problem but it wasn’t anything interesting so I didn’t tag along
Ok massive truck as well
How many tons can the boom lift thanks
Take the name and add the word tonne at the end.
How is that even legal to drive empty?
Is that a Mars light in the front bumper?
It is. I noticed that too!
Good eye! The 888s now have an LED option
what is a mars light? is the round thing in the middle of the bumper?
@@mattvega6941 A Mars 888 light is a recessed mounted or pedestal mounted oscillating light that came about in the 40’s or 50’s.
Typically used by the fire service, I’m willing to bet some of Petroffs operators are firefighters.
Just search fir it on You tube. There are plenty of videos
@@mattvega6941 it’s basic design is to send out a penetrating beam of light to hit the 3 mirrors of a vehicle in front of it. The motor assembly inside the housing makes an “8” pattern with the bulb
Why?
I agree why would you want to tow something with that, it's a mobile crane/recovery wagon.
You don't, but you call it a tow truck so that towing companies will purchase it. Because it's a tow truck it's better than a mobile crane; mobile cranes have to travel with support trucks carrying their counter-weights where-as tow trucks don't.
It cost 500 bucks for the operator to take the key out of his pocket and start that thing. Then the mileage and hourly labor rates kick in.
It's a nice truck and all but is there enough work available to pay for that truck? Cause I don't see it being the workhorse of any fleet. I am sure Ron Pratt of Midwest Truck would love to have one. He sure loves his Century 1150R.
Thanks. It was not to be the everyday performer but for specific jobs and it has done well to date. As Ed mentioned in the video, we have 40 other trucks if we need to tow something including multiple rotators.
@@PetroffTowing I would like to see some videos of this truck in action.
As I mentioned in another comment it is on the radar but customer request and someone on site limit things so in due timing. I have been trying to do some photos and videos since he doesn’t really like any of that out or answering questions but I can only keep up with some. There is more than the M100 people also inquire about but I’m sure haters will have plenty until then unfortunately so that is discouraging. 🙁
@@PetroffTowing we are neighbors in Caseyville...some of these folks only wanna try to drag something thru the mud and it sucks...keep doing what you guys and gals do best...if people wanna hate...they are just miserable and have nothing better to do...that M100 is a GREAT addition to your fleet and I along with everyone at HT say CONGRATULATIONS on this truck and the RUclips channel
@@PetroffTowing Sorry to hear he isn't much into the RUclips thing, but I can understand both sides of the argument.
How are you guys able to run over 80k when not towing anything? Do you guys have to pay a special permit fee a year?
Yes it is annual I believe
101520. That’s all you need to know.
That truck costs million of dollars
Big boy toys
I’d hate to be making the payments on that S.O.B.
I see why you say you won't tow with it that fuel mileage wow
It is more than the fuel mileage but, yes, it’s size requires calculated use
For those days you need to lift a house or a Abrams Tank
Short trips must be expensive by the hour...
When I want to lift up an Abrams I get my M88A2 HERCULES
if the american military released their batteries which never run out of a charge. oil industry would be wrecked over night.
You gotta pull a permit just to operate it on the road.
So, why with everything that has been designed into this, has nobody thought about the way the driver has to exit and enter the cab, on a ''Highway'' as you call them, it would be into the live lane. .
You might find it strange but in the UK the biggest wrecker are left hand drive, in part because when the driver gets out or into the cab he is away from the traffic.
A real safety feature would be right hand or dual drive. . I suppose it's down to the manufacturer putting profit before safety again. As they have clearly done in this case . .
umm...if theres ever a need for the driver to exit or enter on the passenger side, they can easily just do that. You don't have to get in on the same side as the steering wheel.
If it's that sketchy, just go out the passenger side. Why would you redesign a cab?
Exactly and being an automatic, the cab has plenty of room if needed.
@@PetroffTowing an auto? really.boooooo.awesome truck tho,lol.
