The raised mine obstacles on the Normandy beaches were called "Rommel's Asparagus" by the Allies. Much credit for accuracy, because unlike the film "Saving Private Ryan", you have them positioned correctly (the idea being that a ship would slide up the log and into the mine).

Uhh not sure what you mean but those logs are supposed to be facing TOWARDS the ocean, the idea was the allies were going to land at high tide to cover less beach, these mines were just below high tide so when landing vessels hit them they would explode.

D-Day, occurring on June 6, 1944, symbolized a watershed moment during World War II as Allied forces executed a daring invasion of Normandy. The operation unfolded with a meticulously planned airborne assault in the pre-dawn hours, setting the stage for a massive amphibious landing on the Normandy beaches. This multifaceted endeavor, characterized by intricate strategies and the synchronized efforts of thousands of troops, culminated in the largest seaborne invasion in history.
The success of D-Day played a pivotal role in the eventual downfall of Nazi Germany. The codenamed beaches-Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword-became theaters of intense combat where Allied forces confronted formidable German defenses. Against all odds, the Allies established a crucial foothold, initiating the liberation of Western Europe.
The significance of D-Day lies not only in its sheer scale but also in the resilience, courage, and sacrifice displayed by the soldiers involved. The meticulous planning and execution of this historic operation showcased strategic acumen and teamwork, contributing to a turning point that shaped the course of World War II.

In fact, I spoke about both... The "Rommel Asparagi" traps (should face towards the sea, instead they are put the other way around here in this diorama) and the bunkers... They are copy pasted from the Save Private Ryan movie... With the unhistorical openings for mgs and cannons facing directly towards the sea, while in reality they where faced angled, to oppose concrete towards the incoming naval fire barrages... And do create "killing zones" for the USA privates to finish entrapped into @@gew43

You’re good w the tanks. You’re really showing the deep wading tanks w the snorkel (Co A). Co’s B and C were the DD tanks (w raised canvas barrier), and yes only two made it ashore under their own power (3 more about a LCT w a ramp failure) from 741st Tank Bn.
743rd decided not to launch in the heavy seas and all the DD tanks were brought directly to shore aboard LCTs.

DD shermans were actually incredibly successful. The only reason 27 of the 29 launched at omaha drowned was because they were launched far to early against the advice of the British who designed, developed and built them. Which explains why on Sword beach all DD shermans made it to shore intact except for 1 that was run over by an LCT.

D-Day began on June 6th 1944 and had a few names such as operation overlord, battle for Normandy and of course D-Day. It was one of the most bloodiest battles of ww2 and is still an extremely famous battle today the mission was for the allied forces, Canada America and Britain, to storm the beaches of Normandy how ever all the beaches were extremely heavily guarded by German forces. The beaches were: Juno invaded by Canada, sword and gold were invaded by Britain, and Omaha and Utah were invaded by America. This invasion was not easy because as soon as the allies got out of the LSVP Higgins landing crafts they were emediataly under heavy MG42 gun fire and Germans were firing at them from large concrete bunkers but eventually the allies took over the beach they did this by destroying the tank traps with land mines and other bombs and they bought in DD Sherman tanks which took out lots of Germans the battle of Normandy continued for an additional of 84 days! Thank you for listening and I can blow up with more facts if you like 😊
