- A "MFGC" or Micro Feather Game Changer tutorial, a pattern developed by Blane Chocklett. This version is scaled down to about 3" overall opening up opportunities to throw this fantastic pattern in smaller water or to picky fish.
There are a ton of variations to this platform, these can be made with all synthetic materials, Arctic Fox, and really any materials to suit your fishery.
Materials Needed:
Hen Saddle
Flymen Micro Spines
Marabou for tailing
Flashabou or Krystal Flash
Heavy wire, wide gape hook in size 4 or 6
Articulation wire - Intruder wire or beadalon
Tab eyes or JC eyes
This is my first video ever, comments are welcome to help improve my video content in the future.
Thanks for watching and happy tying!

I’ve watched others but no one made it so clear and easy as you; thanks for being a great teacher.
Thanks for **demonstrating** so many things while executing this (somewhat) complex pattern! Your handling of the chenille and feathers will help me a lot as I do more and more GCs! And BTW, you are so Zen, a fly-tying Buddha and great to listen to as well as watch your technique! Tight lines!
Awesome fly! Thank you for sharing!
Great job man, killer first video.
What a great video!!!
That is a nice streamer I like the colors size spot on
Perfect lure 😍😍😍
Great tie. Would be a nice dirty murky water contrast pattern with the black head and tail.
You know you had a solid video when it has 33K views and you’re under 500 subs. Bravo sir.
Great video, doing BC proud! Really like the feather prep to setup the taper properly. Keep going with the vids.
Thanks for the kind words!

Thank you very much!
Great job Brother!!
MikeAndersonRFS Thanks dude! Learning curve for sure, and I wish it was a little cleaner, but I’m happy with it. 🙏
Very tedious pattern to tie, I'm hoping for miracles on the water! haha! Very well explained video, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! :)
No problem! They get easier once you get a few down. Good luck!
Great fly. Well done. I would really like to see a swim test.
Just subscribed because of your amazing vid. Also I’m your 500th subscriber! Congrats!

Sick fly
Very nice job all the way aroun
Great informative video! You sound so used to be in front of the camera, can’t wait for your next video!
Thank you, Ted! I really appreciate it.
Nice
When are you making the next micro game changer video because this one was really good!
Also what other color hen saddle do you use for the other mini feather changers that are shown at the beginning of the video?
Great video! I would love to know how you make those brushes one of these days! keep it up
Good idea for a video! Thanks
Great video! You have a nice, even cadence while speaking and the video remains in focus which makes for easy viewing. Good idea to fast forward through the repetitive parts. Looking forward to your next one!
Brian Unich Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
Beautiful fly! What material is in the brush?
Класс!👍🤝
On the 6 mm shanks do you continue to progress your taper or do you use feathers the same width, then get wider with the 8 mm
They look great do you sell them can’t seem to find them for sale anywhere? 👍
What size cactus chenille? Amazing video man!
James Brock Thank you! It’s cactus chenille in size large. Good catch!
Can you do this with a dragon tail instead?
Where did you get or what did you make your feather material holder for setting aside the feathers for taper?
I was hoping for the same info, can't find it anywhere
Do you find whip finishing twice helps?
What size spines are u using tail, 6mm, and 8mm?
Correct!
What kind of hook did you use?
If your not using a brush on the head do you just use more feathers?
Jace Ross Yep! Just use more feathers and Palmer chenille, just like the back of the hook, it usually takes one or two more stacks of feather and chenille to make it all the way to the head.
@@channelislandsflies8429 Thanks for the well explained video. Can you use a dubbling loop with EP fibers cut to length instead of the brush?
@@billgouckenour2146 Sure can! I just use a brush or chenille because it's convenient but you can definitely spin up dubbing loops.
@@channelislandsflies8429 Thanks. Just thought that the head would look great with some EP finers. But there are a lot of fibers out there and i do have some EP brushes as well.
Thanks and stay safe!
