Cut a good straight cut on the pex, place clamp about 1/8" from the end, and clamp it down.

Thanks for mentioning the 1/8 inch (3.175 mm) distance for the clamp. Is that the perfect distance? Wonder what distance people working with the metric system would say. Would they say 3 mm or 4mm?

Put the valve handle on the side not the bottom.

Always drain the lines first. You can end up with a lake.

Yes, that's a supply line under pressure. Why cut without releasing pressure when you can.
