    I used to cringe at people who obsessed over movies, or had posters, or shouted at a TV screen during the Oscar's... dont get me wrong I live movies but I'm not obsessed with any of them, except this one. I've never had a movie theatre experience anywhere close to this one. Throughout the film, the whole audience would gasp, laugh, cry, and clap. Every action scene was followed with a short applause, in every heartfelt moment, you can hear someone sniffing as they fight tears, you could hear everyone give sharp inhale at every shocker this film brings, and of course in all the wacky crazy funny scenes the audience would burst out laughing. This is truly the best film I've ever seen. And I am probably going to be one of those people screaming at a screen in hopes that it wins an oscar.

      @@megamikethemovieman I really hope to see Michelle yeoh, win best actress for this film. She's basically in 99% of the shots in this film and she really captures the essence of a chinese-american immigrant. Low key kinda saw my chinese-viet mom in her lol.
      I also would love to see this get nominated for best production design, I just love how majority of these shots take place at either the apartment/laundromat or the IRS building, and you dont even realize that most time. The apartment also looked like the cramped apartment I lived in when I was younger too.
      I feel like I may be biased when it comes to this tho, as I recognize that I may have much more of an emotional attachment to this film than others due to how relatable everything is.

      @@KnowledgeSeeker78491 awwww, well.. in my theatre there was I think over a hundred people, it was on March 30th which was a special day because cast members would go out to select theatres and make an introduction. I got to meet the martial club, the martial arts cinematographers who also played some roles in the movie, and it really got the audience laughing hysterically during parts, cause we literally went from meeting these guys to seeing them do ridiculous stuff on the big screen.

    It better sweep the Oscars. Technically amazing, very well-structured story considering everything it's juggling, and ultimately the proof is in the emotional pudding. I was tearing up way too often, had snot running out my nose and no tissues to take care of it. At that point, I was trying my best not to react emotionally to the film, but the hits kept on coming. I was a mess by the end. A film as zany as this that can wreck you in your heart demands recognition.

I hope A24 works their asses off to campaign and promote this for more people to see, and for award bodies to recognize. Through the entire movie, me and everyone in the theater was laughing their asses off in one scene, and then they hit you with a deeply touching scene that could make you cry. I am so happy that this film is getting great reviews, but this is the type of film that the Academy ignores. And A24 has a hot/cold track record of their films getting Oscar nominations (they've had great wins from Room, Moonlight, Minari and nominations from Lady Bird and some big snubs like Cmon Cmon and Red Rocket). I hope you are wrong and the Academy has changed enough to give this film a chance. It will need to carry this hype through the year but it can do it :)

    • @benbartlett1
      @benbartlett1 2 года назад +5

    • @hennersucks
      @hennersucks 2 года назад +7

      The academy ignores any films that aren’t released during awards season. They don’t watch all the films released, just the ones that are presented to them to watch for their consideration. You need campaigning also, and it may not be worth it to campaign for a genre film that likely won’t get recognised anyway. Jason Isaacs was interviewed and explained why Mass didn’t get many major awards, and said ‘we didn’t have the budget to start a campaign’. That’s just how it is. If Academy voters weren’t lazy, and actually watched as many films as possible, this wouldn’t be an issue. However, that’s just not how it works, sadly.

    Idk who Daniels are, but based on the first couple minutes of this review, I have a feeling they’re gonna direct an MCU movie at some point.

    A24 definitely doesn't have a good track record in terms of Oscar campaigns, I'd say they wouldn't know how to take this film to the award season - and/or don't have the funds for it. It would have to be bought by someone else (Apple?) to have any chance at the next year's Oscars.
