    My current top 10 is-
    1- Babylon
Promising test screening reactions, great cast and fantastic director.
2- Killers Of The Flower Moon
I think Martin Scorsese can’t make a bad film and the cast ensemble is absolutely brilliant and also the production team!
    3- The Fabelmans
    Never doubt Steven Spielberg.
    4- The Killer
I think Netflix will prioritize this film and David Fincher is the best at directing the thriller genre so I’m sure this film will be fantastic.
5- Everything Everywhere All At Once
An absolute masterpiece, and a film this critically acclaimed Will definitely be pushed my critics. Audiences are loving it as well!
    6- Decision To Leave
I think this will be the international feature front runner and can have a similar trajectory to Drive My Car.
    7- Empire Of Light
Deakins + Colman + Sam Mendes that’s all I’m gonna say.
    8- Thirteen Lives
The early screening reactions are very promising.
    9- Avatar 2
I think the blockbuster spot in the best picture lineup is between the new Avatar and The Batman. And with a perfect release date I think Avatar 2 takes the edge for now for that blockbuster spot.
    10- Women Talking
A fantastic ensemble with a powerful topic! My most anticipated of the year and I think it’ll be a brilliant movie.

Brendan’s got three movies coming this year. He’s the villain in Batgirl, he’ll be in Killers of the Flower Moon, and he’s the lead in an Aranofsky movie. The comeback story is too good. I’m already putting him as my number one.
Also, The Woman King I think could easily be a huge thing, and Viola Davis is for sure a shoe-in for a nomination, but the issue seems to be that the story isn’t as true as they’re saying it is. Apparently it’s being framed as this African tribe fighting against the slave trade, even though they actually sold rival tribes to the English as slaves. I could see the Academy not wanting to touch that.
Also also, I doubt The Things They Carried is coming out this year, but if it is, that could be a big contender.

Was the Social Network 100% accurate and total true and non-fiction? No! A lot of it was exaggerated, dramatized and hyped up but it still made for 1 heck of a movie far stronger and better and more entertaining than any of those best picture nominees last year. Even if this The Woman King is 100% is not historically and factually accurate, as long as it's not racist and offensive to ANY RACE or idiotic and as well written and well directed like say the Social Network, it could still resonate and connect with a wide audience.

Definitely some good choices, look out for A Pale Blue Eye and if it releases Oppenheimer could be in large contention. Only thing holding it back from that could be the cast. With so many big names how will they all work together.

If you're looking for another reason to be cautious about not placing Bardo higher, there's also a lot of controversy over the produciton not following any kind of COVID protocol resulting in terrible working conditions and COVID-related deaths of crew members. I wonder if that even prevents Mexico from selecting it as their International Feature submission.

A great list of movies there. Hopefully it’s going to be a great year for film. Having seen the theatre productions of both The Son (in 2019) and Allelujah (in 2018) in London, I admit I never thought, oh I can see them as films. Mind you, I hadn’t considered The Father and look how great that was! The Son is the more likely I agree. It’s certainly an powerful / emotional piece like The Father was, although the other could get some BAFTA buzz, as the playwright Alan Bennett is a National treasure here and it was both funny and tinged with moments of sadness too.

i really hope that Babylon lives up to my expectations.
i think that the David O. Russell film has incredible potential, the key man being Emmanuel Lubezki. If O. Russell and the cast bring their A-game and all that is captured by Lubezki, imagine how amazing of a movie that could become!

David O Russel in general had his scandals before most of the big Oscar films he has made. So I don’t know why it would matter now. He doesn’t seem to be doing something controversial currently and people are willing to work with him.
