When I first got a game boy as a kid, the first game I purchased was Final Fantasy Legend III. Bought it entirely based on name recognition as I knew nothing about the game beforehand. So if they named it "Final Fantasy Legend" for the purpose of driving sales, I can serve as one example where that tactic worked.
RotomLandry Same here. Final Fantasy Legend III was the first RPG I ever played and that's what got me into the genre.
I played Final Fantasy Legend when I was a child. I had the Gameboy and my brother had the NES. This wasn’t the first rpg I played and beat (Dragon Warrior was) but it’s the first rpg game that was mine. I played FFL2 when it came out and FFL3 much later. I still have their boxes and manuals.
And I have FFA with box and manual too.
to saga3's credit, it's easily the most final fantasy-like of the entire series, so the rebranding isn't entirely off in that instance
@@gfhrtshergheghegewgewgew1730 I never felt these series were connected. It always appeared to me the style was closer to Dragon Warrior than Final Fantasy.
I agree. The same happened to me when I was walking through FYE about 18 years ago. I saw The Final Fantasy Legend. It couldn't believe that I could play a final fantasy game on my Game Boy Color. It was a weird system to be sure, but I was so thrilled with the game and played for hours upon hours. Just recently bought the Saga collection on Switch and I believe that I'm becoming an official fan of the franchise. Probably more than Final Fantasy due to the fact that there are actually choices in what character you play as.
Yes. Final Fantasy Legend 2 has the best music. I would listen to it for hours back in the day.
Sad he didn't mention Boiling Blood. Had a friend who figured out how to play it on his Casio keyboard!
This game introduced me to JRPGs. I bought it second hand, because the screenshots on the box made it look like Zelda (the game I got with my Game Boy)... I quickly realised it was a very different style of game than I expected, but _absolutely_ loved it, and it's the reason I looked into Final Fantasy (via SNES emulation, this was before the pre-VII games had official releases in Europe) as a teen.
I agree with you so much about the music. There's something really terrible about a turn-based RPG with bad battle music. If I'm going to be hearing it every few seconds, it had better be good!
Great review! I'm looking forward to playing this one.
Hope you got to play it- I seriously loved it so much around age 10. I still think about that game on occasion....
@@planexshifter I am partway through a playthrough right now actually! It's pretty awesome :) It really ironed out some of my frustrations with the first game.
@@hungrygoriya the best game ever for game boy FF legend II
FFL2 is actually my favorite RPG of all time. Took me a while to realize it but when dreaming up my "Perfect Dream RPG" I realized all I wanted was a better version of FFL2. Amazingly, this game DOES have a DS remake which DID get a fan translation and it is AMAZING: Multiple character models and colors for each class, no random battles, a monster meat book to tell you how to get certain monsters once you eat their meat, tip screens telling you what each weapon does and what stats they raise, a weird team-up attack and inter-party relationship system, a bunch of side quests with the new Muse NPCs...but it kept everything that made the original great too!
FFL3 also got a DS remake but it is WAY more drastic. FFL3 was the only one not made by the proper SaGa team and so it was too normal and straightforward...so the DS remake SaGa's it up by adding in multiple weapons and skill sparking and ways to turn Humans into Espers/Mutants and team-up attacks and the ability to summon your past self in the middle of battle...all sorts of nonsense! It's good times and also has a fan translation.
Thanks for this informative comment! After watching the video I was actually wondering if there were any remakes for these games and hoping there was! Even tho these originals seem right up my alley I just don’t think I can stand the black and white graphics of the original gameboy anymore despite growing up playing it and the gb color. I love the sprite work but the lack of color is depressing. I’m lookin forward to checking out the remakes very soon tho!
I want to like the game but it never tells me where to go , what do I do ?
@@jg2722Your best bet is a guide. GameFAQs has one, even for the remake. If you're playing the 3rd one's remake, it does tell you the last story beat in a journal, iirc.
Unlike the _SaGa_ series, _Final Fantasy Adventure_ actually makes some sense to be called what it is in States. Not only does it retain several key staples from the _Final Fantasy_ series (e.g. Chocobo, Moogles, several Classes from the first game), it also was originally named _Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden_, so the name change is a bit more understandable here, especially when _Final Fantasy_ was already a tested brand. Interestingly enough, these references were removed in the remake _Sword of Mana_.
Stole my comment lol
Wait, really? Moogles and Chocobos were removed in Sword of Mana? How weird.
I think they were called something else because they also looked pretty different from the established looks of Moogles and Chocobos in current FF games.
Actually most of the weapons in Final Fantasy Legend 2 are the same ones from Final Fantasy 1
@@HistoryVMthe first mana game was actually called (Mana series name that I can’t spell in Japanese) Final Fantasy Gaiden

This game is an absolute gem. You addressed pretty much everything I love about it, but you might not know that the SaGa games had re-releases on the Nintendo DS. Sadly they're Japan-only, but this game had an English translation patch produced by Crimson Nocturnal. It boasts several new features, including more Magi (called Relics in this version) uses outside of battle, overworld enemy sprites instead of random battles, the ability to chain enemy encounters if they're close enough on the overworld, a party relationship system that strengthens bonds between party members and can enhance attacks, a pantheon of deities that will sometimes aid you in battle, and a much more fleshed out story. Fire up an emulator or flashcart, download the patch, and give it a try!
I wanted to pop in and thank you for this tidbit! I've been playing the English-patched ROM on an emulator and having an absolute blast!
how do you install an english patch to a d.s. game? it's not like a P.C. game.
Switch now has collection of saga this holiday season ruclips.net/video/z-ZiJKMdHg4/видео.html
@@xenxander You just download the ROM on your computer and then patch it. Then you can either play it on an emulator or load it onto a flash cart and play it on an actual DS!
My first RPG love - still hum the music sometimes - 24 or so years later. Loved the stories and worlds. Good memories staying up late playing it.
I got this from my older brother and hooked me. Played through it so many times. I even mapped out the Nasty Dungeon. Most powerful group, despite what the booklet says, is four robots... four super tanks and their weapons regenerate when you rest. Agree, best soundtrack on Gameboy.
that takes a lot of cash robots stats increase depending on the gear you equip them with, the mutants have really powerful magic and the monsters although weak most of the time can tear through certain bosses in 2 hits like the stone gas on venus.
Four robots has to be min-maxed to hell to make it past Arsenal, since they don't have any healing in battle. Three robots and a Human tends to be the best experience for me.
When using robots, it is best to get weapons that increase their agility, weapons that can hit groups such as grenades, also buy and equip speedup on each robot.
I did two robots for tanking, one mutant for magic, and one slime just because it was so fun getting random monsters on your team, kept things fresh, and if you farmed bosses for meat occassionally, you could get a really powerful character with little grinding.
But yeah, only the agility based weapons are any good on robots. I tried one agility robot and one stength based robot for maximum economy, and the strength-bot seemed to barely attack or hit for no real gain in damage when he did. Its not well balanced.
Admittedly I haven't played this game in over 25 years. For me to remember mechanics and tactics this well, it must have been a pretty great game.
Interesting fact, the original Final Fantasy sold better in NA than in Japan, by something like 700k to 600k. So Squaresoft probably felt like the name Final Fantasy held weight (which became very true years later). However, the original SaGa was the first Squaresoft game to sell over 1 million copies in Japan. Final Fantasy III became the second title to do that, but SaGa was their first genuine hit. This may be due to it being the first RPG to come out on the Game Boy. Enix was similarly slow getting out new titles for the SNES, which lead to Final Fantasy IV being Squaresoft's 4th major hit, and becoming one of the most popular Final Fantasy titles in Japan. That's why Final Fantasy IV got so many odd sequels.
Oh, one last interesting fact, the Pokémon battle system was inspired by the monster characters in the SaGa series, and has been stated in a number of Japanese interviews. Kinda neat.
Something about the lates 80's and 90's and collecting monsters/figurines... I don't know, it was like an obsession and many brands worldwide attempted it.
I don't remember finding Legend 2 or 3 growing up, but I had the first one, and played it over and over and over. I loved the monster meat mechanic, the music was fun, and the story, while simple, was enjoyable.
I went through so many batteries playing this. I hope Square decides to make a physical release of the SaGa series they just digitally released.
So many things to comment on... I actually watched this twice. I love that when I get home from work (4am), there is a new episode from you, every once in a while (twice a week...?). Damn it, I used to have all of the GB FFs and ended up selling them, about 6-7 years ago. Now I have FFL II and FFA. I really need to get FFL I and III again, I literally ignored these games, the entire time I had them. The little I have played, of all the GB FFs, I immediately noticed the amazing soundtracks... So good. My personal favorite GB soundtrack, is Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge, though. Ok, one thing I wasn't sure about... I always check gamefaqs.com and see how long an rpg is, to tackle (average)... You say FFLII is about 5-6 hours long... average person that played it, on that site, says over 20 hours long. If it was 6 hours long, I seriously would try to beat it in a day. If 20 hours, I'd try for a week. Haha. Either way, this was, ONCE AGAIN AND FOREVER, an amazing episode. God damn, I wish my channel was half this good. Kudos again, sir.
Thanks Joel, I'd check out LPs in addition to gamefaqs for game length. HCBailly is as thorough an LPer as it gets, and he gets it done in less than 7 hours.
One thing that was also very interesting about this game and the third game, is that SaGa 2 and SaGa 3 both got DS remakes that never made it out of Japan.
So much nostalgia just listening to this music. I felt it was so unique the kinds of parties you can make up. The most interesting setups I did was an all robot or all monster party. Super item dependent group with renewable weaponry, or a group that is completely independent of equipment. I heavily abused tents for the last area. I mean 2 boss class sylphs and 2 max sylph classes? Flare X 25? Yeah nothing's going to live for very long.
I play through this game at least once a year. Owned, played, and loved since '91
I can't be the only one hearing "The Heat is On" from the Beverly hills Cop soundtrack in that battle theme...
Man the nostalgia listening to this music again really hit home
I loved the ridiculous concepts in these games such as killing a witch and eating its flesh to become a witch or blowing up a robot and shoving a part from it up your ass to turn you into a cyborg. Not to mention a dungeon in the 2nd game that requires you to shrink down and enter someones body and fight ninjas and monsters that for some reason inhabit it.
Mystic Quest feels very similar to the SaGa games.
No mention about the terrorists in Ki's Body? I'm disappointed.
Whhaaat alright it's going in my library on my phone right now
That’s the best part of the game
i dont remember any of that and ive beat this game multiple times
The same cast of developers that created Legend 3 are the same as Mystic Quest. You can really tell it when you play them back to back. From the music, dungeon design, jump, and enemies changing as you damage them, it becomes quite apparent rather quickly.
I have such good memories of this game. I'm actually playing it on my Gameboy Pocket as l watch this video. When I was a kid, my family went on vacation to a resort. The resort owner's son showed me this game and told me he didn't understand it. He gave me his copy to try out (since I had my fat original Gameboy with me at the time), and said if I could understand it and liked it, I could keep it. I played it for a while and pretty much fell in love at first sight. I got one of my friends at school to buy it too, and we had tons of fun playing it and seeing how powerful we could make our characters. I had such a blast playing this game. It was my first ever RPG.
I remember the tearing screen transitions blowing my mind when I first got the game. It was actually really impressive stuff for the GameBoy to be pulling off, what with it being essentially a weaker (but portable) NES.
+1 for the soundtrack! And the incredibly well-crafted use of panning to make it feel far more lush and orchestral while using only 3 channels on the Game Boy’s soundcard
Simple and Straightforward is how I like my RPGs. Maybe Ill check er out
3:19 - who else is hearing 'the heat is on' by Glen Frey?
Out of all the Glen Frey songs, I assume this is the
One You Love
Now that’s a real fist pumper
I still play this today. It maybe one of my most replayed games. Training 4 humans never gets old.
Kenji Ito lives and breathes battle music. He did the Black Mages thing for most of the SaGa series in three albums called Re-Birth - WELL worth checking out if you like his stuff.
3:15 "I do not think you can find any MAGI hear though." Hear hear.
Absolutely agree with the music being the best on the system. I used to record the music onto cassette and the experience of learning how to hookup the audio equipment lead to a my career.
Has anyone mentioned yet that the opening bars of the battle theme are ripped straight from 80's pop hit "The Heat Is On?"
the first final fantasy legend game kicked ass too. everything u said about FFL2 applies to FF1 as well.
Played this game over and over... every combination of four party members... knew every single dialogue by heart and every corridor every turn. There is a point in the game where you get to your Dad’s (or “hero’s”) secret base and there is a jukebox where you can put on any song from the soundtrack. For me in the early 90s, parents with CD player, no cable, no internet... I don’t really know how to explain. The music of this game has always stuck with me has some of the most incredible music I have ever heard. Those Japanese composers took classical music to the next level in early video game music... and FF2 on gameboy is easily one of the most under appreciated and unknown jewels of gaming music.
This was my first turn based RPG ever. I loved it. Agility weapons on one robot. A mutant for healing and flare. Have a monster to eat boss meat (and reload until you get boss meat) and one other group member of your choosing.
Then hunt for secrets to get the best equipment, and good luck. Because the final encounters are tough.
Thats all I remember from the 30+ years since I actually played this game, but I never forgot it. I don't know if that because it's so awesome, or if it was because it was my first JRPG.
Favorite gameboy game of my childhood as well... and it also happened to be my brother's game too!!
A portion of that battle music was lifted directly for The Heat Is On by Glen Frey. Seriously, go listen to the song then watch this again.
LMAO I'm glad someone else knows this!!
Ever since I first played this game, it has haunted me. I still go back and play it through, and have many times. I have to say the music in both 1 and 2 were amazing, I couldn't believe the Game Boy could have soundtracks that good.
This was my favorite Gameboy game growing up. I still have the boxes and manual for all 3 of the legend games. If Square came out with a remake for the Switch, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.
My very first RPG, back when I didn't even know what an RPG was and I simply referred to them as "games like Final Fantasy". And it's still one of my favorites.
I really have always wanted to play this particular series; glad to know that it is worth playing.
Accelerated speed on switch sale with 1 and 3 why not
Ahh the memories. This was actually the first Squaresoft RPG I ever played. I asked for games similar to Dragon Warrior II at a game store and got directed to Final Fantasy.
But I was flying out with mom to visit her family the next dayt I asked for something similar on Gameboy and got pointed to this. I actually got both games that day but because I was leaving on a trip I put off playing Final Fantasy until I got back.
I wish all three FF Legend/Saga games would get re-released in the US because something seems to make it much harder to boost Human and Mutant stats on a Gameboy Advance in the first two games in my experience.
I played this game back in the day and up to this day there’s only one thing I remember clearly, the catchy battle theme, I was never able to forget it.
This is one of my favorite games and one of my best gaming memories from my childhood. See every year on Christmas my grandfather would give me a $30 check well that year I spent my $30 on this game plus a Little Help From My mom for taxes and when I got it home and put it in my game boy I sat in the same chair for about 10 hours just playing this game until the brand new batteries on my Game Boy died. Even now when I've played it through emulator from time to time I still get sucked into it it's one of the most immersive video games I've ever played even in spite of its age and its graphics
The intro music to FF Legend is by far my favorite GB song.
Hmm, I knew that Adventure was Seiken Densetsu 1 but I didn't know that the Legend games were from another series, that explains a lot. They did have some pretty solid music, I used to love the final boss music from Legend III as a kid, I would plug my headphones in half way for variation sometimes lol.
Thanks for the nostalgia. I still own this game, and had it as a child. I lent it to a douche on a camping trip and he saved over all my game saves (I was almost finished the game) and never went back to it. I didn't know what kind of person he was when I first lent the game to him, apparently I was too trustworthy when I was young.
I loved this game, and it is the reason I got into final fantasy. It's only recently I found out it isn't actually a Final Fantasy game haha.
The overworks map song sounds like Treetop from the Mickey Mouse Magical Quest game on SNES.
I'm going to have to try this again. I've seen you comment about it a few times in past videos. I had it growing up but couldn't get into it at all. Same for the first game. Maybe now that I'm older.
Great review and history! I've had these games for some time, but I neglect my handheld systems pretty badly. I have played SaGa Frontier for the PS1 though, so that counts for something right?
Man I remember this game. I was never able to finish it but I used to love restarting and dicking around with different characters
I keep a box of my personal favorite GB games in a drawer in my desk. 3 of them are the FF Legends games. I loved those games as a kid and I remember it rocking my world a bit when I was younger to find out they had nothing to do with Final Fantasy at all. The 90s were weird to the FF naming process over all.
Final Fantasy Legend II was my favorite of the Gameboy SaGa Games. Legend I has its mythology charms, and Legend III feels more Final-Fantasy-like for having an airship, but Legend II has it all: music, fun game-play, and it isn't an expensive re-sell (if you aren't going with an emulator) since it's neither a rare nor sought-after game.
I got the Legend trilogy and Adventure in the early 2000's since Sunsoft actually re-distributed the games in the late 1990's. Nothing changed other than slapping the Sunsoft logo on the box, and thank you Sunsoft for making the game available! It's like when Nintendo re-released some of their old NES games in the mid 1990's!
These 3 games practically *were* my childhood. Classics.
This was my older brothers as well. By far on of my favorite games of all time.
I have this game somewhere in my collection, I remember enjoying it and the music. This and Final Fantasy Adventure/Seiken Denesetsu have the best scores
Ever thought about doing Saga Frontier games?
those are not only very hard to find these days but very odd and unique in RPG circles.
I actually had (and still have) only the first FF Legend growing up, but I've always wanted to play the other two. Also, in Japan, all three of them got snazzy DS remakes that, of course, never made it to North America or PAL regions
Yeah, I wasn't really separated from games by my brothers more so than I was just intimidated by games in general when I was younger. Mostly because they played and I just WATCHED, but also because it felt like something that older kids did and I couldn't do. I remember legitimately being afraid of the underwater level of Sly Cooper with the crabs. XD Who knows why, but it was actually my brother's who helped me get into gaming, so yeah. Good times.
I played the crap out of this as a kid. I loved the world/level variety and that soundtrack still lives rent free in my head
always was a good retro rpg, but i recommend fast forward option with your emulator for playing now if you don't have much time. Old battles tended to be many and repetitive.
Also there is something amazing about this and the first ffl music. Somehow that simple yet good gameboy music leaves more impreesion on me than the newer game sound tracks.
Finally got this game again today. I lost it when i was younger and was really sad but am really happy to have a nice copy in great condition again
Saga series is a hidden gem.
6 years too late, but some behind the scenes corrections about FFA and FFL not being related to Final Fantasy in any way but branding:
Final Fantasy Adventure's Japanese name was Final Fantasy Gaiden: Seiken Densetsu (Final Fantasy Sidestory: Holy Sword Legend). Square saw it as a Final Fantasy game at least until the GBA remake.
The SaGa series, barring SaGa III, is the personal project of the Akitoshi Kawazu, the battle designer of FFI and battle designer and producer in all but name of FFII. Kawazu has gone on record saying that SaGa was him evolving his ideas from FFII. SaGa III, however, was made by the team who also made Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
I would like to add in that "Final Fantasy, in Name-Only" isn't *entirely* true. I mean, THE MAN Nobuo Uematsu did the music for the first SaGa game, as well as select tracks for the second one. So...the iconic Title/Main Screen song (ostensibly the main theme for the entire trilogy) was his doing, as well as the somber town musics, the hectic tower tracks, and that REALLY weird lead-in prior to fighting a Crazed Man at the top of a Tower, with an odd fashion sense, that ultimately dies to someone wielding a chainsaw.
So really, FFL1 was *super* prophetic about FF VI and Kefka's demise, y'all just didn't realize that Uematsu was actually a time-traveller.
The battle music starts playing at 3:19 ...immediately all I hear is the saxophone in Glenn Frey's 'The Heat Is On'. XD
ZaKaTaKofVA You're right. I had never thought of that before. And I like The Heat Is On.
I mean, I heard that immediately and thought "Hey...this musical phrase sounds awfully familiar..."
I was going to comment the same thing but scrolled down and saw your comment! Really sounds like The Heat Is On.
Me too
Heard & knew of these games for a long time, played Final Fantasy Adventure, and feel so bloody bad for leaving these other 3 gameboy games so long and only trying them out TODAY!
The music from this game is fantastic
Wow i remember playing this as well as completing it quite a worthwile saga game. Especially since this and saga 3 were remade for the DS.
I just picked both 2 and 3 up a few weeks ago. I played them both when I was a kid and thought they were great.
I owned this one and the 3rd one when I was young. I still have the games and I desperately want to get a GB again so I can play them. These games are what got me hooked on FF, even though that's not what they are lol
I love this game too. You should try the DS remake. Its been translated
Hi SNES Drunk! I know this have nothing to do with this video specifically, but could you do a video about the Lost Vikings series? I really like your videos and opinions and I would like to know what are your thoughts about the Lost Vikings' games. By the way, I really appreciate the fact that you always attribute to much value to the musics of a game, it really changes the experience one game can bring to you and, like Final Fantasy Legend II, I think Lost Vikings' music are very good too (even if there are only a few).
Yeah Lost Vikings is on the list but it's behind a lot of stuff (Earthworm Jim, Super FX chip games, Rushing Beat series). Thank you for watching
This game defined the genre for me. I ran through so many batteries playing this on my OG gameboy. I still have my cartridge but the internal battery doesn't hold saves anymore...
I loved Final Fantasy Legend when I was a kid and this one improved on it in every way.
Oh man you remember me from this game! I have forgot completely from my childhood, that was the first rpg i ever played on handheld console and shame on me, it was on an emulator! I remember that i was looking for pokemon to play and found this game and bugs my mind that this has the same feel as rpgs from pcs that i played most! like the ultima series! So thanks for that!
I LOVED this! I had this for Gameboy and was 1 of best RPG's ever!
I knew the answer was gonna be "Yes". I spent a good two years trying to beat this back in the early '90s. My cousins had it and couldn't figure it out either, and I kinda sorta, without meaning to, ganked it from them. Never got it back to 'em, I mean. But yeah, Legend II was my first Final Fantasy title ever. I could get past the Dark Cave, and that'd be where I'd get stuck. Of course, part of my problem was I was not familiar at all with how RPGs worked, and I didn't really understand the stats and such (I was like 10 at the time). It wasn't really until I had access to the internet through the local library that I finally gained an understanding of the game thanks to GameFAQs lol I have never enjoyed another game as much I eventually learned to enjoy Final Fantasy Legend II.
Saga series is essentially a successor to Final Fantasy II, so it's not such a stretch to label it FF. Final Fantasy Adventure was also called FF Gaiden in Japan; it always had the FF label.
This game have the best sound track. The venus battle give me chill. 😁
I'm playing the JP version so it is possible that they fixed it for the international release, but...I've discovered that you're expected to spend hours grinding for the last couple sections of the game. Up until then it seems like enemies aren't so strong that you need to grind for over an hour in each section and I had no problem getting through the dungeons. Then you get to the ancient Japan area and oh christ. All the enemies have way more agility that your characters so they all attack first, and it's common to get into battles with more than 10 enemies. And I have most of my party wearing Hermes shoes. Damn fun game up until that though.
Watching these again in preparation for collection of saga coming out next week!
Have you played Spanky's Quest? Loved that game growing up, noticed you haven't mentioned it
I personally never put too much time on the handheld Final Fantasies other than some remakes and the Bravely series, but this looks good.
I to as a kid was hooked on the Legends games. I missed out on Final Fantasy Adventure though :(
They also did a remake of this on the DS which is just stellar. It was Japan only so you need to emulate it with an english patch.
Actually, the battles are not random. I discovered the pattern. It 0, (from turning on the gameboy), 4, 1, 38, 66, 10, 55, 2, 26, then repeat, minus the 0, as long as the gameboy is on.
I would always save after 0, 4, 1, then restart the GB to make grinding faster.
Whoever enumerated this games was surely drunk.
Nah they just wanted money
From what I remember, I experimented with my main save game. I asked myself, what would happened if my save game counter reaches the number 99? Well, it went to the number 0. I guess 99 was the limit. Then i asked myself, what happens if I turned my Game Boy off when my savegame counter is at number 0. Well... something did happen. It's an ArrayOutOfBounds type.
Great game. So much of this music needs remade.
I used to sneak into the room of my older sister to play Might and Magic 7 when she was not there, so I can relate. Still love that game. And yes, Might and Magic, NOT Heroes of Might and Magic.
Final Fantasy Legend 3 have a good soundtrack too, especially the Holy Ruins track.
🙋 older brother was a game hog over here too lol
Not even kidding, I had pretty much the EXACT same older sibling situation, only with Final Fantasy Legend 3.
There is actually a guy who refined the rom and it's a great improvement to all of the mechanics. You level up your stats faster, which is a plus since grinding in SaGa 2 is so finicky.
www.shenafu.com/ffl2/ffl2.php
The only downside would be that an emulator is required, but that shouldn't be too risque for most people.
Would have liked a mention of the DS remake since it is excellent and a great nostalgia trip.
Just finished the game. It is a decent playthrough although that last section down the escalators to the final boss is a slog. It is a solid game and should take you awhile and be a good play through. grind heavy in this game it helps to start out the game with the right combination to make it easier later on.
FFL1 might have been the first JRPG I ever played, so I have kind of a soft spot for it, but I agree that FFL2 is probably the best objectively. FFL3 was very popular, but the clunky time-travel story always kind of loses me. 2 is basically perfectly polished, and yes, the music is incredible.
Also, I don't have any siblings, but similar: an older cousin of mine got me hooked on FFL2 when I was a little kid. Seems like a lot of us had this experience for some reason! Haha.
The DS version is really good and the music is redone so well, especially the town theme
This game was so good!!!
The music was amazing!!! I still hear it in my head like 30 years later!
Just wandering SNES drunk if you can do nes and Famicom reviews on the new versions of final fantasy 1 2 and 3 if you can thank you I was wondering what your opinion on them are and I was wondering if you can explain the completed levaling up system in final fantasy 2
Do you think random battles in a role-playing game or just there to make it longer than what it needs to be to beat the game
The DS remakes of II and III were definitely worth a play. If you haven't played them, I highly suggest you do.
I miss this game big time. I should dig up my copy
