Today we take a look at an absolutely insane gaming achievement performed recently on Ninja Gaiden for the Nintendo Entertainment System. This was something that everyone thought was utterly impossible until someone was crazy enough to believe it could be done.

honestly the most impressive feat of the soulsborne challenge is the hurdle of DS2s infamously shitty hitboxes haha, theyre extremely janky & unfair compaired to the pixel perfect hitboxes of the rest of the series, can get caught out by reallly unfair distances & clipped by attacks that clearly missed you. the b team did a shoddy job on it, plus you can only move in 8 directions, its just not optimised or as flawlessly designed as the rest
like with 1/3/BB/sekiro you can watch fights in slow motion and see attacks miss by millimeters, grazing past the character model in amazingly fluid dances
but with 2 when you go slowmo you'll see massive gaps where people still get hit haha

There are so many speedruns WRs that rely on what was once thought to be TAS possible only. I guarantee that now this trick has been performed, the world record will one day rely on it being pulled off as the final act of the speedrun. One such "technically possible" trick is in Quake, where the final map has a trigger to exit the level near the ceiling in the boss room (According to the source files released by John Romero in 2006, "This is so in Deathmatch, exiting the map will go to the start map.") You can reach it using a combined grenade and rocket jump, but it's rarely ever attempted in single segment runs because it's so difficult to get the required height without dying and it's right at the end of the game. Since it allows you to exit the map without killing the boss, it's technically the "true" ending to the pacifist speedrun.

I finally beat Ninja Gaiden on 7/2/17, and only because I used an emulator. After renting it in high school, and having my mother turn off my NES while I was at school, I never got as far again, and had to turn it back in at the store. I only know the date I beat it b/c I track all the games I've ever played on a spreadsheet, along with date-stamped gameplay notes along the way after each session. It's fun to go back and read how I bitched, whined, and cursed at some of the more difficult games.

If moderators will do in the same manner as for some low%s it would be like this: Runs in the leaderboard first and foremost would be sorted by the amount of hits taken, then by time run took to complete. So his run will allways be above all ones that took 1 hit. Alternatively, they may make a completely new category, like it was with some Mario low%s.

wouldn’t it be the same w Doom 2 runs then? Since there was a secret deemed impossible to trigger for a complete 100% UV max run until Zero Master found a way to get it making his run the only “legit” 100% UV max run?

Nah, "We're Finally Landing" is more of an intro song. This run was more of a "4" moment. Or perhaps a "Highway Broken" by glue70 followed by a "...and that's where the record stands today. Thank you for watching".

We love this content. I love learning about speedrunning in a curated environment. Because I'm not a speedrunner, just watching runs themselves is very confusing and I don't appreciate everything they are doing because I don't know what's going on or how difficult certain things are. Keep it up, Karl.
