A testament to how good they are is just how many are still on the road. They are a very good car.

@@FenderUsa My Civic is 14 years old, I look after it and it still looks good 🙂The only problem has been careless drivers scraping the paintwork when it's parked 😞

My Honda Civic hatchback from 2006 (gasoline, executive) never had any issues! No rust at all, magic seats, a lot of space and storage and looks very modern) Still driving this car everyday with a lot of pleasure!

My 2006 1.8 I-shift has done 150k miles, only a new clutch and i shift transition being sent away and repaired at 117k, also twice I’ve had fuel injector issues after using E10 Petrol
So long as you use premium E5 petrol you don’t have issues with this car

My pick would be the 1.8 not the diesel. As more and more cities adopt Ulez and the gap between the cost of petrol over diesel. No turbo to worry about and clogged egr valve. A lot of owners reporting 43+mpg thanks to that clever i-vtec engine.

I've driven all ranges and for me the 2.2 was the pick of the bunch.
      It's rapid

@@johnward4978 yes that maybe true but given that most have covered high mileage which do you think is going to be more reliable. If your on a budget the 1.8 would make sense but if you can bag a low mileage diesel for sensible money then yes.

I had this issue when I got my Civic, I went for the 1.8 petrol as they don't seem to break whereas the 2.2 can have manifold cracks and the obligatory diesel clutches. This was over 2 years ago and my car has run fine in that time... The diesel torque would be nice however!

    • @FenderUsa
      @FenderUsa Год назад +1

@@simonjohnhinton1938 clutches go bad on the diesel too, also the petrol is just more fun to ring down a b road if so inclined

I owned a 1.8 i-vtec Civic Si for about 5 years and I only ever saw 40 mpgs when cruising under 80mph in 6th on the motorway. They are really good quality reliable engines for sure. However they are not going to average 43mpg unless you spend 80-90% of your time cruising in 6th gear at 75mpg. & or never using VTEC. Eg: Staying under 3800rpm.
I do have 5 years experience with that engine and car and have no reason to lie about it.. I was one of the best cars I have ever owned, but your mpg claims are just not possible to achieve in the real world.

I've just bought one, a 2006 EX 1.8 Petrol. Done 99k miles and got it for £1,475 so I'm hoping it does me for at least 2-3 years! Only downside I was used to comfort in my last car, this feels pretty stiff i can feel everything on the road but maybe i'll get used to it.

Other than the 1.4 version, it's a great car. 1.8 and 2.0L although extremely good reliable engines are not the best for mpg and road tax though.
The 2.2 Diesel is The most Sensible Civic engine. The K20 is the best 2.0L product performance engine of all time to be honest.
But the 1.4 i-vtec is like I said is too small for the Civic, I'm sure it's fine in the Jazz but a Civic does weigh considerably more.
I used to own a 1.8 Si 2010 up till quite recently. I only sold it because I inherited 1.5TDCi Focus Zetec 120PS. It was a no brainer, Zero Road Tax and 55-80 mpg and of course ULEZ compliant.
No it's not a drivers car like the Civic is, It's not fun to drive really. It is though a Cheap car to run and still has adequate power and with the stage 1 official map it can have another 20 bhp and still be zero tax and ULEZ compliant.. Also cheaper to Insure than the 1.8 Civic Si.
