It moved to the center lane because of the approaching on ramp on the right, even though there were no cars entering, the vehicle was positioning itself for the safest location.
This is definitely the most impressive semi-auto system on the market. Most other systems require you to CONSTANTLY baby sit the steering wheel every few seconds to register that yes I am in fact still behind the wheel. it's so obnoxious having to grab the wheel every five seconds that I just turn them off. SC though can genuinely sit, *hands off* and let the car drive.
Does SC allow you to make adjustments w the steering wheel without turning off? In the rivian it turns offs when you tug on the steering wheel, which I find very annoying.
@@Wasabi9111 it's not really safe to adjust the steering column while driving. But I would think you could probably do it? But when you manually engage the wheel SC allows you to control (and will indicate that with the blue glowing bar) until the vehicle is centered again and will go back to green to indicate you can remove your hands.
@@keithremelts36 Sorry i wasn't clear....When driving pass a semi i like to be closer to the other side of the lane away from the semi. W/ the rivian it likes to be in center of the lane and doesn't let me adjust the steering. If i were to adjust the steering to be closer to either edge of the lane, the lane assist would disengage and I would need to re engage every time. it's really annoying.
@@Wasabi9111 ohh yeah you can do that and it'll just go to blue and then when you get past the semi and center it'll auto engage again. I do that sometimes myself. Wish the vehicle just naturally did that.
I also have an EUV and agree that it works great. I live in Atlanta and I was surprised how well it worked even when there are 5-6 lanes in each direction. That said, I get a little nervous in some of the more crowded areas. It performs well but I worry about semi trucks drifting into my lane or a-holes cutting me off. There is a stretch of 4 lane highway on my commute where traffic is generally light and it is amazing. I literally set it and chill and it has never disengaged.
Gm should have limited it to 70 mph; you want this feature, but safely assisting national roads. They missed out on making roads safer, but with a choice.
I have no experience with super cruise..but I do know that it's limited as to where it works and where it does not. I love my comma 3 in my 2021 rav4 though..and it works almost everywhere!
Yes super cruise it good, it will keep up with traffic and change lanes without having to do anything but keep your eyes forward. However it won’t be as lite on the throttle as a human would especially going up or down a hill so there goes fuel economy. Also after the initial 3 years you then have to start paying for it monthly to work. And that’s after you already paid to have the system in your car.
I'm actually hoping this technology becomes more adopted so we can save gas and get prices down... no more erratic crazy throttle driving, just let the car basically coast it's little fuel sipping heart out all day long.
What are some of the smaller SUVs from GM (GMC/Chevy/Cadillac) that have SuperCruise available? It just does not make sense to buy a large SUV/truck just to experience SuperCruise.
So, do you lose the heated steering wheel feature with the super cruise button in that same spot on the wheel? Is there a button somewhere else? No heat? Or, it has heat, but only automatic, no manual button?
@@JUAN75001 - The question being asked is if the particular section of the steering wheel with the light bar is still heated if the SC option is on the car.
I found out the answer to the question. The steering wheel still has a heat option when it has Super Cruise. However, there's no manual button to turn it on or off, because that button (to turn on/off the heat) is replaced by the Super Cruise button. So, the heated steering wheel is "automatic" only when you buy Super Cruise. Thanks! Note: There is at least one Cadillac that has both Super Cruise and a heated steering wheel that has a separate button for each. But, on the Tahoe, the button spot for heated steering wheel was replaced with the button for Super Cruise.
how much does it cost? A couple of times a year I have to drive up and down I55 to chicago. That would be nice to let the car do the work. but 355 days a year this is of no use to me. Is it part oif the now mandatory on star system?
Well its only available on the high country or the luxury version I'm pretty sure, as you can see in the video theres wood so i would think its the one he has. so bare bone luxury would start at around 65k but max it out with all the packages and all wheel drive and the best engine for mpg it can get up to 75k
I actually got dizzy watching this.. the problem with all these systems is the ping pong back and forth in the lanes.. you can actually see your head going back and forth and the slight corrections are shown in the path on the road.. a reason why the lane keep, adaptive cruise and this function will never be in a car i own.
It's like adaptive cruise...it isn't essential...but it is nice, especially for those of us with a pain in the butt commute...I'm wondering what ultra cruise will look like...
No more steering with my knees while I eat my Big Macs !
LOL🤣🤣🤣
It's funny when people give me the stink eye when I do this
I really like the projector display for your speed. It makes that quick speed check easier.
It moved to the center lane because of the approaching on ramp on the right, even though there were no cars entering, the vehicle was positioning itself for the safest location.
At 1:18, looks like it did that due to the lane ending on the right. Curious the programmed decision making process that lead to it making that shift.
Or maybe the car that was going slower sped up.

My EUV has it. Although the auto lane change won't ever be available on it. But I'm fine with that. I use super cruise all the time!

Short and sweet good perspective. I own a Tesla and FSD is NOT worth the cost even at $200/mo for monthly subscription
Does GM have a plan to bring super cruise to city streets and rural roads? At least the adaptive cruise and lane following assist ?
The monthly fee to get this is ridiculous. BlueCruise is expensive too. FSD Tesla is free btw

do you have to pay for super cruise after 3 years like GMC and ford does
would love to see Mahk give this one a go

Will it safely move over to the next lane if a car invades its lane? Or slow down to avoid a side collision?
i’ve heard great things about super cruise!!!
BlueCruise is still better than SuperCruise, according to Consumer Reports. BlueCruise works on unmapped roads, that's a big plus for me.
I hope that sales explains how to use it so service doesn’t but that’s not going to happen

Oh? Nice. Thanks for the info.
How long can you sit in the seat without engaging the wheel? Related how long can you sit there before you get super bored?
Haha

Cool video. Chevy rocks! This is a great option for today's society.... lazy....
Chevy Bolt has this?
The Bolt EUV has it as an option, but it's not as robust. It won't change lanes for you. I don't know why GM doesn't have a different term for it.
So could you new text and drive? 😆
Common sense tells me That I need to be in control of the car
It's not 1960s anymore pops
Common sense would tell the rest of us that you’re living in the past
