This game is so awesome. I walked around Canyonlands Utah and it reminded me of how mind blowing it looks in real life. I flew off the summit of Mt. Rainer. I walked around Pitcairn Island and imagined what it was like as a local with all the trails that show up google maps.
I love that you took a selfie in front of your plane. I’ve done this so many times, though I usually shut off the engine first so I don’t have a cloud of dust obscuring whatever’s behind the plane. I also like to use the Joby for short range transport. The Jetson One works too, and can get into basically any place big enough to park a motorcycle.
Yes, I've been using the Joby too for the same reason. It took me a little bit to figure the controls out (haven't hooked up my flight stick yet) but now that's sorted I love it.
I always wished there was an easy way to have google maps style 'plain english' town names visible on a PFD map as i often fly over somewhere really interesting, but my only searchable point of reference are airports, which are always in a code that google cant always find straight away. Does a reverse method for that bing maps copy / paste co-ords technique work, assuming there's a way to copy and paste your current world co-ordinates while in flight?
@@divide-nik8596 agree, littlenavmap is great. To the original comment , it connects to flight sim and will track your position. You can create and load flight plans into it, you can then load those into Flightsim, it will also show things such as airspaces, airport information etc

How do you rotate (turn) the character to the left/right in walk around mode? I figured out how to move them forward/backward and translate forward left/right or backward left/right, but can't seem to rotate them...
Jorg said they planned to support flight sim for 10 years in 2020, we are almost in 2025 so does that mean they will cease support and online servers in 2030? Even though we paid full price for our game will we still be able to use it??
You paid for a license, not the software itself. What that means is they can pull the rug out from under you at any time, and for any reason, preventing you from using the software. We'll have to wait and see what this means in practice. They may let you continue to use 2020 after 2030, but will give neither tech support, nor provide updates/patches, etc.
I really want to like MSFS2024 but there were SO many bugs in the times I've tried it. lots of typos in the text used for text to speech (in the training missions I've seen "sped" instead of "speed" twice now), a misspelled landmark (which makes NO sense to me because it's spelled correctly in bing maps), missions are virtually impossible to do in VR because of UI issues, getting penalized on missions for dumb reasons (wheel off runway penalty for landing in an airfield where there IS NO RUNWAY, then entering taxiway penalty when there is no taxiway), missions being impossible to finish because it wants me to park my plane in the middle of a tree, etc. missing starting me with not enough fuel to actually finish them, PFD glitches, etc. etc. edit: I JUST tried the first helicopter training for the first time. it gets to a part that tells you to start the engine. then when you start the engine, it says "you aren't ready for that yet, let's start over" and then starts over. did they just not test any of this stuff??
It would be nice if Working Title could add a layer on EFB Tablet with geographical landmarks such as river, lake, valley and mountains name. These are avaible on bing maps so, hopefully, it shouldn't be difficult. It would be a huge bonus for bush lovers.
Haven't done a great deal of walking so far but I did go along the cliffs at Dover, through Yosemite next to El Capitan and along Venice Beach. The first two are worth it IMO but Venice Beach was poor thanks to the photogrammetry. Oh yeah, I climbed up the main pyramid at Giza too.
a strange question can you easy flight with Flight simulator .......i mean this without a whole study how you must start and so on? easy peazy like the use W A D X or arrows ........ thanks
I suggest at least a gamepad. Keys are a really bad experience (but you could use autopilot). Hot Air Baloons are good with keys only, but is a really slow (but fascinating) way to fly
You can skip those parts with a kb shortcut or controller shortcuts. As a new simmer that was my concern too. They made it really accessible to everyone.
For some reason I haven't been able to exit my planes and walk on foot anywhere, though I have tried SHIFT+C (or possibly CTRL+C), I have tried both. Any help would be appreciated. Obviously on PC then 😉
Going for a walk around the pyramids in MSFS is one thing, but going for a sneak around the pyramids while punching Nazis in Indiana Jones is a bit more fun. 😂
From my experience the huge Patch that was Recently Released for FS 2024 Hasn't actually Fixed any of the issues The SIM Actually Runs worse now and Several Areas have been Downgraded Graphically on Xbox
I want a hunting and camping mod. Give me a hunger bar while youre at it and make me choose between FBO popcorn and vending machine vs quality food lmao. Why not a caffeine bar too?
The castre at the beginning of the video is Neuschwanstein, and is indeed in southern Germany. It is the inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty Castle. The Bard fortres shown later in the video is in Northern Italy
The one thing I really wish asobo did was to make possible to start anywhere at ground level cold and dark and to save at any location. I can't see how this should be difficult to implement as it was a standard feature in all ms simulators fsx and earlier
If I am simply going to walk around for a while (on my PC), this is how I drop any aircraft at any spot on Earth: [1] At the Main Menu, select "Free Flight". [2] Choose any aircraft/watercraft/whatever (you don't have to know how to operate it). [3] Scroll/zoom/search/etc around until you decide where you want to drop it. [4] Left-button click on that spot (once/twice) until you see the word "Custom" and a pin and some options below that. [5] Select "Set as departure". [6] At the top on the screen, you'll see your departure as "Custom" with "Airborne" below that. [7] Click on down-arrow beside "Airborne" to find a list of other choices. [8] Select "On ground - Shut down". [9] Click on "Start flight" at the bottom of the screen. [10] After a few seconds, click on "Ready to fly" at the bottom of the screen. [11] You are now standing beside whatever craft you dropped. Just turn around and start walking/running. {DISCLAIMER} Of course, if this is all you ever do in the simulator, you will never learn to fly anything. But you might be okay with that. It's your money.
if only asobo/MS will make it possible to save/load our flights in nice places like this every other MS sim has it but not this ms24 ? i dont geth that
This is very unpopular but Asobo focused wayyy too much on making the ground more detailed than making a better flight simulator. It’s impressive but the flight sim core side is on the back burner.
They literally expanded the physics modelling in every area, as evidenced by the addition of soft-bodies, ground handling, wake turbulence, etc. If you're implying x-plane is 'better', I have news for you, CFD is superior in every way to BET, that's a fact. Sure, individual aircraft may be lacking but that is entirely down to the developers of the aircraft, not the underlying platform.
I honestly don't know how I feel about this. We spend so many man hours programming the virtual world because the real world is just so inaccessible. I can't be the only person who sees the irony in virtual hiking, right? I can't imagine those textures are gonna be any good that up close.
virtual hiking in FS 2024 is pretty good. The aerial photos mixed with autogen create a mostly realistic enviroment. Of curse hiking in real life is something else, like fliying a plane in real life is something else.
Yeah, for me it’s part of a general ability to “travel” more conveniently than in real life. I live in central Ohio. If I want to hike in the Hocking Hills, or at Blackhand Gorge, that’s minutes to an hour or so away by car. But a) I’ve already hiked there many times and I want to go somewhere different and b) it’s winter here and I prefer to hike in spring or summer. If I wanted to hike in Yosemite instead, I would first need to get to California (hours away by plane, days by car) then (if I flew) rent a car and drive to the park. In MSFS I can just *be* there. If I want to, I can simulate a multi-hour flight in an airliner to get to California from here, and a smaller flight from San Francisco or wherever to the closest airport to the park, and then fly a helicopter in to land in the parking lot. But I don’t have to do any of this.
The irony is that you spend 1000s of hours digitizing a real thing that is never as good and your wages are still not enough to allow you to experience the actual thing you are digitizing.
MSFS2020 was slow today downloading scenery. Poor visuals, not as detailed as usual. Too many gamers abandoning 2024 and returning to 2020. Will this be rectified soon. Will MSFS2024 be closed until the 'game' is robust.
IMHO, trees and bushes are an un-needed thing in a flight simulator. So are buildings. RAF Pilots worked with a 'string landscape' in the early nineties on Plessey Sims. At RAF Shawbury. All they needed was to know where the ground was. Even the Mach Loop. A 'Flight Simulator' was primarily a machine which could introduce aircraft system faults. The pilot was forced to fix the problem or get the aeroplane down with minimum damage, and keep himself alive. There were nearly no lady combat pilots in the 1980s. In 1982, Microsoft made a game of it. After 42 years, it is still a game. Major airline operators have Simulators. There are several at Heathrow. Some at East Midlands. They are to simulate faults and train the crew how to deal with them. The origins of Flight Simulation was not a game. Having said that, my home cockpit is a wonderful pastime. Grob 115 E, RAF trainer, and Beechcraft Texan T6 II. Gain a good level speed, up elevator near vertical, 60 knts, full rudder. When you see the ground, up elevator and level off 180 degrees about. A Chandelle, or Wing Over. Easiest manouver. A FAA must for competence.
@poochies0316 a terrain that actually loads and does not look like its post apocalyptic, as the case of NYC and Paris in MSFS 2024. I would take realistic physics, superior damage model and flight models of DCS any day. If I want eye candy, I will fire up Google Earth.
@ that’s the weird thing some areas of msfs 24 are beautiful like one example flying east of Zurich into the alps , but yea the melted buildings and weird blocky trees not loading in look bad, I flew dcs for years and I agree about what you say , I just wish they could upgrade their terrain and trees , I lost interest after the Afghanistan release .
In reality Google Earth is just as good and has been out for many years. MSFS only adds a bunch of random houses and trees (none of which are accurate to real-life.) It is a flight simulator, but don't pretend like it is groundbreaking for digital tourism.
