It would adjust TLOD to maintain your desired fps. It does work but through the expense of lowering your TLOD..by a lot. Is no free lunch. Is either reducing the TLOD yourself to get the fps you want or increasing the TLOD to get the graphic details but with the game stuttering. I like TLOD 200 fyi.
Great video Steve !! What's strange is on my setup, I have noticed that on not very far distance mountains, their is no details at all. On your video, mountain that are far (not at max distance) already got details, real shape, not a blurry melted aspect. Any ideas ?
Given that the program dynamically adjusts the settings, it's best to leave everything on ultra so that whenever there’s enough leeway, it looks as good as possible-for example, the clouds?
It only really changes three parameters, Terrain Level of Detail (TLOD), Object Level of Detail (OLOD) and cloud quality and you can tick a box if you want it not to touch cloud quality. So in my view you should be aiming for an FPS that is reasonable and achievable for your system, letting AutoFPS deal with the TLOD and OLOD values, as for all your other graphics settings (most of which won't have a great impact on framerate individually) see what you can get away with.

After seeying your video I realized I was running the wrong version. Now I have the one that has the "VR Optimezed" option. However, as with the other versions, the TLOD and OLOD in the Sim Values section always remain 0 (zero) and don't change. Also not after 5 minutes like someone suggested. No because where possible this utility increases TLOD & OLOD to as much as possible whilst maintaining your FPS target. So you hit your target and get the best possible visuals whilst doing so.
My experience today was really negative. With my own setting, I can get 40+fps, but with this auto fps set to auto it aimed for a target of 21fps and the clouds looked like they were out of minecraft 😅 it was a new area I'd never flown in before so unsure if it was just the stream. Yes. AutoFPS is a 'Godsend'. BUT, DO NOT MENTION IT ON MSFS FORUM. THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT TREADS ON ASOBO'S TOES. AutoFPS is a piece of coding that adjusted TLOD to acheive best fps. They interogate your components and decide a resonable fps to aim for. Then change the TLOD levels. Note. If you set TLOD values in Options at LOW, the grass will have been mowed when you fire up and get going. When you return after a couple of circuits, the grass has grown quickly. At your next session, the lawnmower man has been. Also, the Airport painters have scrubbed away the messy white centre dashes and painted new bold dashes. NO! That is not dashes from Newbold on Stour. :-)

Seems like there are 2 versions of this app now . Very confusing.
Hi Steve
Thanks for Highlighting this and will give it a go
But ...to be honest at the moment im getting really cheesed off with msfs2024 what with all its bugs, and like yourself i get really peeved with terrain not loading in ,always seem to get the "low bandwidth" message (dev mode says im downloading at 2 to maybe 6mb even though my bandwidth is the "recommended" speed of 100, speed test done before and after loading the sim). in pancake mode.
The sim has great potential i must admit but god is it frustrating 😢 , ive a high spec pc including msi 4090 card and pimax crystal.
Sorry to moan lol ...and look forward to you posting vids so dont worry about too many of them 😅.
Cheers
I haven´t had any bandwidth issues, but UK internet is quite famous to suck if you live there?
@@darnedghost2008 Moved to Germany few years back ...live in the sticks too lol
I think I need this in my life. Asobo's version su-didly-ucks!!
TLOD Base 45 😳
Read the pinned comment
Don't wanna be nitpicking but the tool never showed you have 45FPS but most of the time rather mid 30s...😉
I literally explain this in the video 👆
@@VRFlightSimGuyHi, not getting that information there but it doesn't matter. Great tool, I use it for days now, unfortunately does not cure the FPS suffering when looking down in the cockpit at high altitudes.
@@SK-wv8gb That sounds like a different issue.
@ yeah, VFR flyers will never come across this issue.
@@SK-wv8gbThe higher you are, the better fps you will achieve. So it might be something else that's causing the issue
Only answer questions from subscribers??? Cant you set comments to subscribers only if thats the case?
Does this also working in VR with myt meta quest 3? I ahe the problem with Virtual Desktop and performance. I have all the time latences only on the game not on networt or sonething else.
It's a lot cheaper to build your own PC.
Not everyone is confident to do that, or wants to, or, would prefer a 3 year warranty
AutoFPS for the win, has helped me significantly on my triple screen setup.
Why are you tearing ur hair out. Use a quest 3 with Virtual desktop. U would have what u want. Its that POS pimax u all hyped up
I do use the Quest 3. Lots of vids on the channel.
@resetXPDR Thanks Reset!
You are not welcome 🤣
i have it downloaded BUT! vr optimized is not an option on the drop down menu under the expert options? DO I need my headset turned on before loading the program? Everything else seems the same ..It says I have the updated version 0.4.4.0
Install the app version linked at the top of this video, not mine as you currently have installed, and you will see what you are looking for.
