I just bought a Piaggio Liberty 150 S and I am very happy with it. Now I know how to wash it properly. Thank you for this video. New subscriber from Vancouver Canada.
Surprised this exist. Thought it would be easy to just do it, but was worried. This eased my mind and taught me things I didn't think of. You're helping people. Time to shine!
If there is one thing you should take from this, is to be careful around your electronics. A light mist around the instrumentation just to rinse away suds. Also, he warned of electrical components, possibly a wiring harness tucked behind the crevices. This was excellent advice. Great tutorial.
This is perfect timing! I was literally thinking just yesterday how do I clean this scooter when I buy one. Many thanks Andrew 😉. Will you be doing a cleaning video for the Sport models with the matte paint finish?
Can you spray the engine bay? Like lift the bucket out and spray soap in there with a foam cannon and rinse it off. I hate a dirty engine bay. Or is there something particular underneath with vespas that can’t get wet?
Exactly what you see in the video is what you can get away with. Hitting it with a pressure washer would not be advised. Thanks for watching and good luck!
In India I have purchased new honda activa glossy black color scooter. Tips to maintain this color last longg. Is it good to wash scooter with pressure mode water or normally pouring the water?
Not familiar with that scooter, but just take it easy on the surface and ideally keep the bike out of the sun if you want to prolong its color from fading. Thanks for watching.
Question how to spray without hitting the battery cause mine is where I put my feet at don’t want it to get destroyed and where can I get some bolts for my scooter had it for 2 years and bolts are rusted
The battery compartment should be covered with the rubber mat similar to that in the video. Spraying the bike to wash it isn’t much different than being caught in the rain while riding, albeit with more pressure. For bolts, check your local hardware store. Thanks for watching and good luck.
Possibly by make sure it doesn’t leave behind anything slick that can get on your tires. And never use Armor All on the rubber. You’ll crash on your first turn.
Hey Andrew, hope all is good with you, Trying to find a good Vespa washing video for us Matte Vespa owners(hint?) Mine not that dirty yet, but gonna be scary for me when I do... Thanks Buddy, great vid as always!
Best option I know of is blow off the chunks with water and then use a matte specific cleaner. We have spray bottles that we use and then wipe very carefully with a Wypall L30 towel. Would go lint free at least and never microfiber unless you know it’s perfectly clean with nothing stuck in it that could scratch.
Not really necessary. Just something we like to do to maintain the scooter. It’s a bummer to pull a seat bucket and get a face full of mold when trying to do a service.
Other than paint, no. Corrosion will accelerate mostly depending on where you live and if they salt the roads in the winter. Here in Oregon that’s not a problem but rust will eventually develop underneath.
@@VespaPortland Thanks for that. I’m in Scotland, so not the best weather in the world (but not the worst either 🙂). The 300 models have been a bit of an eye opener for me and seem a very capable machine for medium to longer distances. Thanks for your very informative vids!
A pressure washer is OK to use BUT put it on the lowest setting. You don't want to blast the paint off of the scooter or blow apart any wiring or connections. Go easy on your scooter so it looks nice for a long time.
Dead easy ,Park one vespa up , take out picture of a Lambretta sx 200 , wash vespa with the tears from vespa owner , Now for a more non piss take ,Nice video ,can you do one for classic scooters as they take a bit more looking after ,Paint ,Chrome and trims ,I`ve yet to see one done about a classic scooter

What a fantastically clean bike! Great tips, thanks for all the pointers on the tools to use!
Anytime, buddy.

Might happen in the future.
I just got mine😌
And someone told no to wash without knowing how to do it, cause I can ruin it
I use an electric leaf blower instead of a towel for drying. That seems to work best for me.
That’s an awesome idea and definitely pushes more air. I’ll try that next time.
For light to moderately dirty bikes, I've always used Lemon Pledge and a couple of microfiber cloths. Spray on, wipe off.
Good tip!

Could you come up with a video on how to clean the engine for the gts, primavera and sprint line.
Sure we’ll add that to the list. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion.

You're more sophisticated than I am.
I just hit mine with some Simple Green Extreme, a hose, and a microfiber.
That works too!
Just came across your channel. Liked and subscribed👍🇬🇧
Thanks for watching.
Cleaning the bottom part of the scooter body is the most important as there is the rust starting.
True statement! Thanks for watching.
Sweet looking scooter, @notbenh!
It’s probably dirty again but he doesn’t give a hot damn! 😆
@@VespaPortland gotta collect those miles ❤🛵🎉
Thankyou for the informative video! Do you think a rim cleaner provides better results on the rims?

I have to clean my vintage vespa on my channel
Do it! Thanks for watching.
Wouldn't the air compressor blow the water into the electricals?
By the drying time there are only small drops left which is less water near those parts than would be in a typical rain shower.
The scooter must be cold before cleaning, right?
Shouldn’t matter but if that feels better go ahead. Thanks for watching!
in Vespa Portland,, do you have the white stripes for the wheels?
Like the ones that come on the Sean Wotherspoon Vespa? Not in stock but they can be ordered.
Can you program a brown key to another virgin brown key?
Cannot do that. It’s the master key for a reason. There can only be one.
Do u guys work with Tao tao 50 cc scooters too?
We don’t. Not sure where to send you for one of those in Portland.
How do you protect the fine Italian leather seats such as on a GTV300?
Don't know off the top of the head. Best best is probably to use any kind of leather specific cleaner.
love the background where is this?
Portland, on the side of our shop.
What a nice person he is!
Ben? Yeah, he's the best.
Thanks for the useful video 👍😊

Doesn’t US federal law require turn signal stalks?
Don’t think so since the GTS doesn’t have them. But we’re not lawyers!
I need to buy a Vespa so bad right now
Treat yourself!

looks like scooter was created for u....hahahahahhaha
It might have been!
The bottom underneath is the most dirty part. Don’t miss it.

Thank you great tips
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching.
Very helpful! Thanks!
You’re welcome. Wait until things dry out to start the bike in case you have an exposed wire somewhere.
Is there any kind of anti corrosion on Vespas? I have heard some bad reports about rust on the underside and internal areas even on recent models.
Other than paint, no. Corrosion will accelerate mostly depending on where you live and if they salt the roads in the winter. Here in Oregon that’s not a problem but rust will eventually develop underneath.

Always turn your scooter on when cleaning
Probably not the best idea!
