Best video that I found for this battery change, very precise. Thanks for sharing! The Piaggio battery from the dealership had the same type battery here in Italy. They recommended (along with the instructions) to charge the battery on a battery charger made for scooters for about an hour or two, ensuring that the battery is fully charged and that it will last longer.
I really appreciate this video - I'm rather a fool when it comes to this kinda maintenance for my vespa, and so you've helped a bunch mate many thanks - from England ✌️
You’re welcome. No real precautions come to mind other than not touching something metal like the screwdriver to the positive and negative at the same time. You’ll get a shocking surprise! 😆 Parking garage should be fine. You can do it!
Great video, I was able to change it myself and save some money instead of going to a garage. I stripped a bolt since it was so tight like you mentioned, but a number 8 spanner did the job and loosened it. New battery came with new bolts so was all good. Thanks again!
Should we pull those fuses before you put the new battery in? The last time I put in a battery in, it blew one of those fuses and was an even greater inconvenience than just replacing the battery.
Thank you!! Where can i get that tool kit? My Vespa didn't come with one. I have a 2014 Primavera 50 4T 4V. I've searched the internet and can not find it? Thanks Denise
Hi! I’m gonna buy new vespa which is 2014 S50 but I can find correct size of battery. It says yuasa Yb9-B but there is small differences between size that I find and the one I have dead now. How can I be sure about correct size?
The batteries are lead acid so if they are totally dried out then you're going to either need to add new battery acid or (easier option) just get a new battery.

You’re welcome! Thanks for watching. I’m often surprised by how many people we reach in England.
This video is really helpful. Wouldn’t have had a clue what to do otherwise with my Primavera!…Many thanks from Ireland !
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy the rides over there. Thanks for watching.
Grazie mille Portland Vespa per questo video, just changed out my battery all by myself. 😊
We knew you could do it. Congratulations.

You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
thank you for doing this video. is there any precautions before starting this, like with grounding and stuff? is it ok to do this in a parking garge?
You’re welcome. No real precautions come to mind other than not touching something metal like the screwdriver to the positive and negative at the same time. You’ll get a shocking surprise! 😆

Weird. We’ve not had that issue with fuses. Give it a shot.

Good question! They can probably be ordered at your local shop if they don’t have a pack laying around somewhere.
Hi!

How can I be sure about correct size?
Talk to your local Vespa dealer and provide them in the VIN number of the scooter. They can set you up with the right battery.
Thank you for this!!!!

Rookie maintenance question: can the battery cells dry out and need distilled water added like auto batteries?
The batteries are lead acid so if they are totally dried out then you're going to either need to add new battery acid or (easier option) just get a new battery.
any chance that you’d review 946 dior?
Yeah that’s possible! Problem is we don’t have any idea when it’s coming.
Thank you
You’re welcome!
Hi - is that fuse also easy to change? 20 amp?
The fuse is very easy to change. Just open the little compartment for it. I don’t have one in front of me but I think it comes with a 7.5amp fuse.
I think you and Robot need to debate "torx" bs "torex" pronunciation. I'd watch it.
Ha! I like torex personally. A debate would be short lived before we just rode to get beers and tacos. Thanks for watching, dude!
@@VespaPortland knowing you guys are buddies, maybe do those big sumo suits and go at it.
Great 👍

Vespa is quality but can’t understand why the tools they have included are garbage .
Guess they don’t expect folks to need them much! Thanks for watching.
