What a fantastic walk through of these cars. I found especially the measuring of the cargo space very useful (I’m looking at the EQC vs e-tron). The deciding factor for me is a mix between practicality, efficiency, ease of use and price - in Denmark the used EQCs fit those criteria best.
Great review. I have owned my EQC 400 Sport for 3 months now and I have done over 280 miles on a single charge before. As you live with this car, you get better with the range. Tesla Model Y is really going to mix things up when it arrives as it will be similar size to the EQC, ETron and iPace. I had one as a replacement car for a day, when I took my Evoque in for maintenance. It is a very nice car to drive. The downsides here in Belgium is the starting price of 80K euro or 68K GBP, a missing windscreen wiper at the back (mandatory to get the camera option for the rear view mirror). Would recommend to point out at the beginning and maybe in the title the model years in review as these videos continue to pop up and be reviewed years after the video is made in which there are likely changes to your comments, e.g. heated seats on the I-Pace.
Interesting videos, thanks for all your efforts. The big box test was good. I’d come along and see what your selling, once I win the lottery. Cheers, shaun.
Great channel and love the reviews but we have to address the elephant in the room which is price and range. EV tech is evolving and to spend £70k+ is a big investment for what might be an only car. I’m not buying a car for a light bar and I’ve never seen a box that big ever! Everything seems to be nice, nice, nice and skewed towards the Tesla.
Really helpful video. I’m currently test driving replacement company cars, with the shortlist of iPace HSE or HSE Black Edition, Audi 55 Quattro S Line or Black Edition, or the EQC Premium Plus. As you say, they each have their own attributes and it’s going to be a really difficult choice. 3 day EQC test starts in a few hours.
@@robbowden7954 After much procrastination there is now a new I-Pace HSE Black on the driveway. Not an easy choice but essentially it came down to looks, handling and performance at the expense of a little less boot space and fewer bugs. I’m sure I’d have been very happy with any of them though.
Really surprised the model X actually does not look too huge and wide when its next to the other cars....but it clearly has the biggest interior space! EV designed from scratch..
The big box test feels a little contrived. What if the box hadn't fit in any of them, what would be the point? So the fact that it just fit in the Model X seems pretty arbitrary. What about a box that was just a little longer but not as tall, maybe that would fit in the eTron but not the Model X, for example. Tesla Bjorn's banana box tests are more indicative of useable space in my opinion since it is not pass/fail but a quantitative result.
an I-pace with the quality/comfort of the Merc, the charging specs of the e-tron, and the efficiency of the model x, would be one hell of a proposition
Just love these back-to-back comparison reviews - top content, as always, Richard & team...! I would buy a second hand pre 2017 Model X over the other eSUV’s. Not because it’s more spacious but because the supercharger network. I just recently drove a Model S to the Lake District and back, 700miles, I didn’t worried about charging it for a second and it was free I saved roughly £60.
Not an SUV fan but I would have to agree, not only Superchargers but better range and actually practical and large inside, which for all their huge shape most SUV are not (EV or otherwise). Personally though I would love a Model S estate 😂.
Supercharger network matters only if you drive longer distances like on a weekly basis. If you don't, then it's often irrelevant. And to be honest: we have e-tron 55 and Tesla M3P and I much rather drive Audi - even on longer distances. It's just soooo comfortable and quiet, and because the number of HPCs is increasing all the time, having the charging curve of e-tron is actually much better over any Tesla. You don't need to think on getting to a charger with a low SOC, because any SOC on e-tron gives you a high power.
@@villho yeah that’s a good point, it’s a case of horses for courses. I’m on my second Model S and the quality has improved but it’s still way off the German brands. I used to do between 25 to 40K miles per year and Tesla was the only option and still is to my mind for that sort of mileage. Since lockdown it’s plummeted and seems unlikely to go back up that much so the options are much wider - and that’s nice - that previous experience probably colours my viewpoint still. Still not a fan of the SUV format overall, but you’ve got me thinking, I do like the Audi GT 🤔.
I-Pace headroom improves with the glass roof. E-Tron should feel more solid, weight is much more than the others, one of the reasons for less range imho, but quieter inside.
Here we are in Jan 2024 and with the exception of the model X, the EQC , E-TRON & i- PACE they are available for ~ or just over £20k . It’s a difficult choice but I think I would go for the EQC .
I'll be interested when the Model Y releases which is a far more comparable car to the EQC. Im from UK but drive a Model Y in the country I work in. It is a phenomenal car and I would wager, worth the wait. My wife wants an EQC but after test driving and going to see it I just cant see why she would want it over a Model Y. Oh wait, the badge, it still holds prestige, but thats literally the only reason.
Comparative external dimensions would have been very useful in this comparison. Very reluctantly had to let go my Model X because of parking issues, just too big for the average car park or roadside parking space, and too big for English country lanes. Would spend half my time driving backwards to the last passing place big enough in the lane to let other traffic pass. Great on long journeys though.
A question re the MX: I live in Sweden and wondering what happens when you open the gull wing doors and the roof is covered with snow? Does it end up on the seats?
Depends on how much snow on roof. I alway wipe snow off. If not some will end up inside car. Also wipe snow off rear hatch before opening if falcon wings are open. Forget this and most snow en up in rear seats.
So what do you think for in US - same price, refresh S LR in a few months or slightly cheaper fully loaded Etron Prestige?(55) The Etron is technically the faster road tripper here

Tesla X is very nice, but it is really expensive. With discounts and their interest free option, the IPACE HSE is massively cheaper than every other car here. Closest to the HSE per month is a Model 3. Absolutely, if the Model X were the same price point it's a no brainer.

The Tesla looks good but their horrific reputation for reliability and build quality would put me off. Especially the build quality, there’s some reports out there of the shockingly bad quality of some new cars delivered.
I’ve checked all these out for a used car, I wish the Tesla was better built, but it just isn’t. I wish the jaguar was more reliable, but it isn’t. I wish the Audi was less boring, but it isn’t. I’ve never considered a Mercedes before but I am now.
Cannot beat Audi for their quality, I've driven a Mercedes EV, Kia EV6, iX, I-Pace. E-tron feels like a much better place to be, after weirdly. Much more capable car for those looking for something that's not a plastic feeling toy...cough Mercedes EQC... too much plastic for me. Tesla is great, but I tested an X and it has 23% battery degradation!!!!!! only 3 years old.
When you’re spending this kind of money. Only the Model X looks special enough. Rock up anywhere and you’ll draw a show. It’s the most spacious has the biggest range and most recent tech.
I realize looks are subjective but to me, the Model X looks like a squished minivan and is the least attractive of the bunch. Some of us like our cars because we think they're cool and don't crave validation from strangers - It makes me cringe when people stare at my cars...
@@knudsenj100 beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The Tesla beats the others on space, range and charging network and technology. The car depicted in the video a week ago, is worse than the car it is today.

Sold my 2019 ludicrous performance because of 2x screen bleeding, halfsahaft and clevis mount replacements (shuddering came back again) rubber sealings came off, cracked mid section panels. doors poorly adjusted, repainted due to chips falling of and orange skin. loose speakers and door cards, defective 12v battery. The list goes on. bought it from new and all this happenbed within the 20.000km
It's nice to see the others company in the EV market after kicking and screaming. If it was for Tesla, ?they be doing the same thing. These Other EV was rush because they look like there gas cars ??, no vision
I was looking at an iPace as a company car, but lease cost wise even the base model was outside the lease cost limit, where as the Mercedes EQC actually came in less than a Model 3 LR. So I go the EQC - I would guess that at this level we are looking at a lot of these being company cars so OTR pricing is important than lease costs. Anyway the EQC is a fantastic car and even the base Sport/AMG model comes with decent kit levels, although I’d say less fun to drive that the iPace I test drove, the door access is a bit tight given the size and central tunnel mean makes 3 adults in the back a squeeze - ISO-FIX for the centre position would have been useful 🙂

Really interesting comparison. For me it would have to be the tessie. Keep the vlogs coming. Brilliant. Thank you 🙏. Trevor
Amazing video as always. Thanks.
Great video, thank you! Helped me decide which one to order (albeit the Merc ev was not a choice in the US yet (2022).
Thank-you for this comparison, these are all cars within peoples budget. Infact, I dont know anyone that cant afford a 60k+ car.
Well done on another great comparison on a wide range of EV’s.
Great video! Agree about the crums in the grove in the EQC. Noticed the same in mine...
😂
Good luck, let us know what you choose in the end and why
@@RSEV will do 👍
@@paulhampton5080 what did you end up with?
Was about to suggest Teslabjørns banana box test also :) Gives a good impression of cargo capacity.
This test is more of a “I’ve been to IKEA and don’t want to pay for delivery” test 😁
an I-pace with the quality/comfort of the Merc, the charging specs of the e-tron, and the efficiency of the model x, would be one hell of a proposition
Yep, to combine the best of each would be lovely
*BMW iX has entered the chat*
@@AA-ep8it too bad it is fugly. Beside not having any off roading capability. ;-P
These cars are all brilliant. AndI loved the review & comparison!!
Just love these back-to-back comparison reviews - top content, as always, Richard & team...!
And, though I'm really not a fan of SUVs, I do think you made an excellent point when saying that, if a driver is considering changing their ICE SUV anyway, then any of these models would make a great EV alternative... with all the environmental benefits of no tail-pipe emissions to polluting city streets
Hello i don't like where the charge point is on most cars except the FORD Mach-E passenger front left perfect for not getting ran over as wee over take on the right and yes the back middle seat raised middle flower i did not no that as im in the market for one of these EQCs that's why i watched your part 1 review and this review thanks
Great video, can't believe the Jag doesn't have heated seats!!! my old ford Transit has heated seats
I have a model y, you cannot beat the range it’s the best in the business
22:44 * DISCLAIMER : This only applies to the AMG tuned one.
Why can't every car have adjustable thigh bolsters? Side bolster adjustments too. Thanks for the review Richard.
My choice is Model X.
What are the MYs? Big differences between model years on sone of the options, software capability, etc
A question re the MX: I live in Sweden and wondering what happens when you open the gull wing doors and the roof is covered with snow? Does it end up on the seats?
I’m on the south coast Uk, very rarely see snow… I don’t know 💁♂️
Falcon Wing doors. No it covers you from rain and snow.
Depends on how much snow on roof. I alway wipe snow off. If not some will end up inside car. Also wipe snow off rear hatch before opening if falcon wings are open. Forget this and most snow en up in rear seats.
Damn! Corona + Karl Pilkington = THIS!
Would have loved to see BMW IX3 in this comparison 😢
LOOVE AUDI E-TRON SPORTBACK.
So what do you think for in US - same price, refresh S LR in a few months or slightly cheaper fully loaded Etron Prestige?(55) The Etron is technically the faster road tripper here
Great review! But ultimately, after all is said and done, taking everything into consideration, your final choice would be………. Come on! We’re all waiting………
When you do the video please use the lights it’s hard to see anything everything is very dark
I’m quite surprised that few people (in the comments below ) would buy the model X !
I’m guessing the “looks “ are a tad polarising. (Marmite ?)
Will a wheel chair fit in without folding down seats?
In what?
I should think in all of them yes, but have not tried I’m afraid…
what a nice comparision . thank you very much sir
Waiting for future Mercedes EQE with 500kms of usable range! Else Model X for me 👍
Really like your videos. But Model X really not a match with I-Pace, bigger and pricier ( US Aug 2022). Model Y would be a better comparison.
Tesla X is very nice, but it is really expensive. With discounts and their interest free option, the IPACE HSE is massively cheaper than every other car here. Closest to the HSE per month is a Model 3. Absolutely, if the Model X were the same price point it's a no brainer.
I loved the comparisons and congratulations
If you remove the extra floor protection in the etron , the box might go in.
Richard, looking forward to you adding the Porsche Taycan Cross Tourismo 4 to to lineup. ;-)
You have any feelings on where it would lineup? Seen #Drive2Extremes?
I have a Taycan… but it’s not cross T 😞
@@RSEV so sorry to hear Richard. 🥲 My sympathies ☺️ I have the 4S as well, I got a roof rack and box for more functionality. Enjoy your videos.
THE BOX DOES FIT IN THE ETRON THE SEATS DO GO FLAT, NOT SURE WHAT THEY ARE DOING
E-Tron and EQC look so good in black for a change, so boring seeing them in silver everywhere . (on the Internet and RUclips videos)
Great video! They all look really shiny too!
Really enjoy your reviews!!! Thank you. Wish there was a new one on the 2023 IPace but I don’t think all the new updates have been released yet for the MY23, although one can now only order the ‘23. Again, thank you.
😁 Great fun review my wife and biscuits😁. 👍 I use our small frounk on our i3s. Guess the Tesla with big compartment in the back as well as big frounk handy for stuff. Me love the look of Jag a Jag with gullwing doors 😄 But Tesla the best 👌. Would like to thank Sergiu and Jo for there high standards 😀👍 I was looking for second hand Tesla S had vip service, 5 stars 🌟
In the end we where offered a brilliant deal by BMW when I told them I was looking at a second hand Tesla from you! So we got a new i3s at bargain price. Second to Tesla but I still think best city car on Earth 🌎. BMW staff very friendly helpful but do not have the experience or knowledge of product as R Symons,
Jo has so much knowledge and enthusiasm but in the end couldn't quite afford a S this time ⏲️👌 I am still keen on a Tesla s some day a plad. Keep up the good work have recommended you. All the best from buzz.😄 🌏
Cool glad you got a good deal on the i3. They’re great cars, and we run one of those in the company too (jo drives it usually)
EQC!!
3 in the rear's a bit tight???
I think...
TESLA
ALL DAY EVERYDAY!
The Tesla looks good but their horrific reputation for reliability and build quality would put me off. Especially the build quality, there’s some reports out there of the shockingly bad quality of some new cars delivered.
as of FEB 2024 now - EQC 2020 second hand from 25 grand Bargain!
I’ve checked all these out for a used car, I wish the Tesla was better built, but it just isn’t. I wish the jaguar was more reliable, but it isn’t. I wish the Audi was less boring, but it isn’t. I’ve never considered a Mercedes before but I am now.
Good idea bringing them inside when it's raining outside. The Audi leaks.
and the Model X use leaks on you if you open the falcon wings after the rain.
Thank🙏🏻 you very much
I pace seats are heated in all current models.
TESLA no uno. With software updates, it would get old well. It is not the case for the other brands
I have a Model X 90d 2017 with 15000 Miles! My wife an Audi Q5 gas 2020 in Brazil
she won't let me use my car
Kkk
she knows which car is better
EQC JAG & AUDI - major problems in a serious frontal intact due cost cutting design thats typical of ice car design
You failed to mention roof rack compatibility. I think model X loses there.
Model Y is more comparable size wise to these 3 EVs IMHO. Plus Model X: $112K+, 130K+ Plaid; Pounds, Euro dollars, sorry have to Google :) it.
OUTSIDE LOKKING EQC MMMM? BUT INSIDE AND THE RIDE AUDI HANDS DOWN
Are the side steps to help when doing a drive by shooting? Can’t understand why people like Mercs these days. Far too bling.
Have you seen the doors on the Tesla?
@@charliebower2473 That’s tech, not bling. :)
@@SirHackaL0t. you don’t seriously believe that do you 🙄
It’s all for show as are the silly flashing lights and dance modes

EQC is a different breed not apple to apple with a TESLA

When you’re spending this kind of money. Only the Model X looks special enough. Rock up anywhere and you’ll draw a show. It’s the most spacious has the biggest range and most recent tech.
That's all relative. In most of the U.S. Model X's are very common, the other cars are far more unique and likely to get you noticed.
@@pasad335 like you said. Relative. They are rare in the UK, Asia and Australia. The US is irrelevant in this video.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the quality on the x is insanely bad.
Jaguar is a lowest trim.18 inch wheels Tesla is highest trim and so are the other cars. Why dont you compare cars fairly. Same trims????
It's nice to see the others company in the EV market after kicking and screaming. If it was for Tesla, ?they be doing the same thing. These Other EV was rush because they look like there gas cars ??, no vision
In terms of exterior design Mercedes beats them all by a mile. Right?
In other things nothing comes close to Tesla.

I was hoping for a race. Where’s CarWow when you need him?
IPace big failure overall. Sales or leases in US pitiful.
Carwow are busy prerecording "old Model S" drag races before the new one arrives and makes it a foregone conclusion.
Model X is an absolute crap
EV's are overpriced crap
All of them are boring, cant wait for the Rivian suv
YOU NEVER DROVE THE CARS. WASTE OF TIME.
