I love them both but own an etron purely on how it makes you feel when sitting in it. It's just quality everywhere and the wipers just work! (Always frustrated me in my model3) The air suspension is easily as good as my old range rover. My commute is a 60 mile round trip so the Range is not an issue 99% of the time. I love Tesla and everything they have done and are trying to achieve. No hate here. By choosing electric, whatever car or brand we choose, we all deserve a pat on the back for doing our bit and trying to save this planet. All our homes.
I used to have a 1999 Audi A8 D2 best seats ever in that Audi. I don’t know there’s something to be said for comfortable seats seats especially when you’re doing big road trips that we do a lot - some Tesla stuff really sucks it’s kind of odd for a lot of the other tech being so great. I remember driving an ID for back to back with a model Y the ID four was noticeably better ride and quieter. I know the model Y new ones ride better but the ID four sucks software wise and the model Y was a ton faster, but who really cares for the average Joe right
I made the "mistake" of driving the e tron at my local dealer, yesterday. Was getting info on upcoming Q4's. The e tron has one of the nicer interiors I have been in, and one of the best ride qualities around. Dead silence, well damped ride, just quality quality everywhere you look and touch. I really like the feedback on the screens, was expecting just the haptic touchy feeling but pleasantly surprised that there was an actual push click to activate. Unfortunately Tesla does nothing for me. I prefer my cars to be cars, with real interiors and thoughtful design, doesn't need to be different just because its propulsion method is now electric. Consumer reports has Tesla pegged second from the bottom in reliability atm, info I've not shared with a buddy (and his brother) who has a Y on order.
Drove a model Y, bought an e-tron, *note I drove an etron premium plus and almost cancel my purchase, but I stuck it out, glad I did, when my prestige showed up, I was smiling from ear to ear, it’s a totally different car. The double panned glass makes a huge difference in sound, the front massaging seat are amazing and the matrix headlights are awesome. However, I suggest everyone look for independent non-Tesla super chargers in your area first before purchase
Regarding the wing mirrors, normal mirros can change their view depending on how you position your head when you look at them. Want a wider view? Move your head forward. Can't do that with an image.
I think they've missed a trick. If they mounted small wide angle cameras much further forward on the wings (where wing mirrors used to be before they were deemed too dangerous) they would eliminate the blind spot between when the car disappears from your mirror and appears in your peripheral vision. As they are, I think mirrors are better.
I would say that the smartest thing would have been a bigger and better monitors and a wide-angle camera. With that you could see more than at a glance at a mirror and if it's in the right spot- without changing too much the direction of your head. Though for some reason they went with a very tiny camera and monitor.... The Teslas have a similar feature where you can put the side and rear cameras at the main screen and from what I've seen on YT - it looks like a better job than Audi's, when it's not even replacing the cameras....
@@tomi832 Yes, the Tesla shows the side cameras when reversing but I find the view not that helpful. Using the mirrors and the main backup camera (as well as looking around) is best for me.
@@RSEV Next test. Choose a journey BEYOND the range of both cars, drive and charge on the way as you would in real life. The "end of day/ journey" charge isn't as important as the effect of long journey time.
@@rogerstarkey5390 indeed. We did this when opportunity allowed but we’ll see if can tie in to do what you say. New video we’ve just published is edinburgh to Bournemouth with a Tesla v vw id4. Would be good to go that with etron too. It’s the time and expense of miles on each car. We’re not journalists and wouldn’t recoup the revenue from a video very easily
What I love about the Audi, is that it’s just a large Audi. It drives like a big Audi, and it rides like one. The build quality is also standard Audi, that being absolutely brilliant. It feels special, not in the way that it is modern and gadgety, but just because it is a premium Audi. Teslas have always tried too hard to be modern and “trendy” in my mind.
@@orbetobe Audi’s virtual cockpit is the best of any car I’ve ever driven. I find the myAudi app pretty easy to use after registering. You could plan a sat nav route on it before departing, then press a button to load it into your car when you leave. That and it has many other features.
Been looking at Electric Cars and test drove everyone. Ionic 5, Kia EV6, Audi Etron and as soon as i sat in the Tesla model Y it was an instant buy. Most comfortable seats i've ever sat in, panoramic window and white, clean interior and minimal interior made it feel like i'm in a space ship. Sound system and speed / acceleration was amazing. Boot space and trunk space massive. Technology on the car and Charging network is super impressive. Have my Model Y ordred and can't wait until next month.
Hey how’s the car going I was thinking to buy 2019 Etron gt but heard the repair costs are to much I loved the car but had to leave it I am going to buy mustang Mach e 2023
I love new tech, but I actually don't like the wing cameras instead of wing mirrors. If something can go wrong, it will, and I'd like to have the low-tech mirrors too. They're simple, don't fail. Cameras and mirrors can both be hit and smashed.
Seriously, you can't beat the clean, classic look of an AUDI when comparing it to a Tesla. Not to mention that Audi is just a better well made car. I also like the idea of purchasing a car from a car company vs. a technology company. BUT, its the technology in Tesla that may ultimately compel a lot of car shoppers like me (who has purchased nothing but German cars for 20 years) to go with a TESLA.
I'm not sure how many people check if the company that they're buying a car from is classified as a tech or car company before a purchase. I'm also not sure that you can use 'clean' and 'classic' in the same sentence when an audi has a lot of buttons on the dash. Surely 'clean' means it's not got large numbers of buttons everywhere. Classic means it's kept the same as the last few decades.
There's a guy in France who doesn't agree about Etron "build quality". He has the "lemon to end all lemons" and appalling response from Audi service and HQ. Just had a quick look. Googled "Etron lemon"..... WOW! LOADS of complaints!!! Here's just one www.e-tronforum.com/threads/audi-e-tron-charging-and-taillights-problems.1553/
The etron is a 'better car' in most ways, however the software in the Tesla is a lot more modern. This is a good thing in the sense that you have things like spotify and it's much more intuitive. The downside is that you have to deal with a lot of bugs. With my Tesla there was always weird stuff going on. Things like the screen resetting, belt buckle warnings, collision warnings and things like 'phantom breaking'. My experience with audi is that the software is cluncky and unituitive but it's rock solid compared to Tesla's. In the beginning I was super annoyed because I was used to the features and intuitiveness of Tesla but now I really appreciate that my car just works. You don't have to wait for the car to boot up or get weird errors.
@@remkojacobs9309 It’s been a long time since my Model 3 had a screen crash. Not sure when you last used one but the software has improved over the last few years.
@@SirHackaL0t. I tried other people's model 3 and you are right. The screen, the processor etc seemed a lot better. My guess is that the Model X was a pretty sh*tty car compared to the rest. The lag and performance problems were unbearable. You have to reset for example because everything gets too slow to play some music. Model 3 looked really snappy and fluid in comparison.
I was exactly like that. Huge Audi fan. Until I drove a Tesla for the first time. It was a Model S. That experience changed everything. Have you have you ever had the chance to drive a Tesla yet? I am sincerely curious. (I still enjoy Audis, don't get me wrong.)
@@Zeno860331 I’m similar. I currently have an Audi A4 and I test drove a model 3 a couple of months before the pandemic. I thought there were cool things about the model 3. But as he notes I was bothered by the little things like My old A4 being much better regarding things like road noise and the general build quality. I just felt like I was hearing “rattles” in the new model 3 I was test driving that I didn’t hear in my decade old Audi A4. That was the biggest thing that gave me pause. Given the pandemic and work from home for the past year plus. It obviously delayed my desire for a new car. But I’m hoping that it give Tesla time to catch up in the build quality and noise areas.
There is only one thing that is better about the tesla and thats the fact that basically everything is standard.. the e tron starts at around 70k but you need atleast 30k worth of extra equipment to make it good.. i have an e tron and i hate the way audi sells their cars, its less equipped than a stock vw golf as standard. Anyways, this was a very well informed review, best ive seen! Ive driven 23k kms(~15k miles?) and not a single problem. Im lucky to live in norway where fast charging infrastructure is amazing, 150kw chargers are absolutely everywhere, yoy will always find one close by. The car is a monster in snowy conditions, chewing through heavy snow and slippery roads with ease, while still being relaxing to sit in. The 426bhp is definetly enough to teleport past any slow moving objects on the road, its fun to give it some throttle. Ive got night vision and matrix lights in mine and you wouldnt believe how much it helps when its completely black outside, its saved me from crashing into an elk
@@Dark_Vader888 nope but I own a wrap shop and have worked on both extensively. My money would go to the Audi plus all the owner horror stories of servicing and fixing their Tesla. I’m a massive Elon Fan too.
@@orbetobe But I’d rather buy a “car”, not software. FYI, all the pundits paying for and waiting for Tesla FSD are going to be disappointed. Notwithstanding the fact that it’s yet to be fully developed and demonstrated, there’s no guarantee that existing systems in their cars will be good enough and there will be massive legal, regulatory and insurance hurdles to overcome.
The etron has keyless entry in the US on the lowest trim and quite a few standard features that the Taycan makes optional. In relative terms the Taycan is wildly overpriced as far as standard features go. He also seems to think the storage behind the Model X second row is bigger but it is in fact 2 cu ft less than an etron. Also, if you have a 2 seat second row then you’re stuck with being unable to fold the seats down.
As others have said, great, to the point comparrison once again. My heart is always with the Tesla. But my ass for ride comfort and luxury wishes Tesla upgraded to be more competitive with Audi in those areas. Ill stay with Tesla until they do though because the driving experience is simply much more fun.
A RUclipsr who drove Tesla in northern Norway where there was snow and ice on the road, was critical of the four-wheel drive on Tesla. for it is not on all the time. such as on an Audi Quattro, for example
Great video. I've had my model 3 for three years. Love it. Ready for something a big larger. Model Y is eight months order time. I found a 2022 Audi e tron and am going to give it a go.This video was helpful.
I really like it. Been more than 2 years now. I would say the Audi is more of a car that runs on electricity vs an electric car. So the tech isn't as good as tesla but the build is amazing. And, I feel like so many Teslas out there, nice to be in something different. I'm glad I made the switch.@@appletongoose
I'm really torn, driving a 2016 Audi (diesel ) at the moment, and it's getting close to needing to be replaced with an electric car, I have tried both the etron and the model 3, I really prefer sticking with Audi, but what has let me down in my current one, is the lack of software upgrades, and expensive satnav updates, if Audi would stop abandoning their cars software the choice would be easy, but drawn a bit to the Tesla, since you know they care about keeping the software updated. It's such a shame you are stuck with whatever software the car was born with, instead of being able to get updates over the years.
Comfort, refinement, quality? Yep, every time. Tesla has the upper hand for its charging network at the moment but when general charging catches up, it’s going to have a real fight on its hands as the larger scale producers start to cut costs. As an Audi driver looking to to an EV, the E Tron is looking good.
Agreed. Once the likes of Gridserve etc begins to get more established, then the Tesla Supercharger network will see it's previous advantage begin to diminish.
Interesting review but at the end of the day..... Audi Vs Tesla, Superchargers and over the air software updates is like Nokia Vs iPhone + iTunes + the app store. 🤔
Yes exactly, both of which I make a point of. Tesla wins hands down for both of those. But the audi has its plus points and I’m intrigued to try something different 👍
@@RSEV I have a Model 3 but I've enjoyed this video and I'm genuinely looking forward to your future videos. Any EV, regardless of make, is a positive step forward.
You'll love the audi until you need to go on a long trip, the charging station mess across the UK and Europe is a joke, cards and subscriptions for 10s of different charging networks that might only have 1 charger that may or may not be working... It's just a real pain (talking from experience) they really should regulate these points so they just accept a bank card... Otherwise you can really get lost in charging networks and worrying they won't be working or full when you arrive... Plus the other networks seem to get ICEd more often.
I have a model 3 performance. The problem with charging networks is not a small one In the states. I wouldn’t feel confident to take anything but a Tesla on a long trip because of the super chargers. The other thing is after buying cars over the last 40 years, buying direct is a game changer. No dealer BS is a major plus. Lastly, I got a little ding in my front bumper, getting an estimate, an appointment, and a replacement happened in days and for a grand. I can’t imagine any car manufacturer accomplishing that feat. So lights, heads up, luxury, and the rest be damned Tesla has me done and dusted.
Another great review Richard. What is worrisome is the stiff suspension. This is a family car. You're not the only reviewer to point this out. Your test is quite telling. Is the overly stiff suspension potentially dangerous - would you put a one week old infant in a car seat in it? The only benefit to such a stiff suspension is to keep the tires from spinning to give fast launch times.
I just got an E tron. After shopping the Tesla, I found the E-tron better because it mixes conventionalism with high tech. Plus I love the fast charging and the retractable sun roof. And at least in the states, the Audi gets tax credits which bring down the cost of the car. The Tesla does not.
Sold my EV6 GT Line to go Tesla Y and had a deposit down on one, didn't like it, people thought it looked like a boat and it drove like one, M3... no thanks, its the next Ford Fiesta everyone has one. E-tron for me, Launch Edition 55 2021 used with all options selected from factory, must have been just shy of £90k new, under £40k now with 30k miles. Don't make the mistake of getting a Y or a Kia EV6 you will regret it in the end.Lovely cars but they just don't have what Audi has here. Coming from an Audi past A1-A5s its hard to compromises now on quality, Kia and Tesla just don't give me that quality feeling, people look at them and comment on, oh but its a Kia and yeah your Tesla M or Y looks the same as the next door neighbour, E-tron stands out, black badging, launch edition is a real head turner and its not a futuristic looking bubble like the Y.
Headlamp washes were the most useless feature of my last car and was really just a way for the dealer to add another checkmark to the car. Without actual wipers, just one more thing to break.
Try to drive in Finnish November wet blackness with salt+shit flying to the lights and windscreen all the time. Lamp washers are a must here in the Autumn darkness!
Audi cars are always thinking ahead for you to help, protect you and other drivers......I guess what I'm saying is Audi cars are intuitive. For example, open driver's door in drive, emergency brake kicks on. My 4th Audi with Quatro.....no need for any other cars....Period.
Here in the US, the cheapest Enron can be had for around 30 K a hell of a lot less than a model X, and not sure most people need performance, subpar ride of the older Teslas so one would be perfect for just tootling around, even though the range is not so great.
haha love adding in the bloopers. Great comparison. I have a Model 3 Performance and love it but curious how the competition is faring, keep these comparisions coming!
I see how they are both different types of cars. In America it's more like comparing a more aggressive car like a Mustang to a Lincoln Town Car. The only thing I would like to see what it takes to get a lug nut or a lug nut cover for each car. I would like to see the cost and if you can change the part. Service is an important part of buying a car.
This is so true, so many surprises with Tesla nobody speaks off. It’s all good under warranty but what happens when warranty is no longer available? How expensive will it be to maintain these cars? So many stories of Tesla owners getting rid of their cars before warranty expires.
i can't wait for my cyber truck tri motor fsd..i'm all in TSLA.. enough to pay for it & the S plaid too!! i have a lot of solar to charge them both at home..
Good luck with the independent charging networks. I suggest you get a separate wallet for all the credit cards you’ll be needing and suggest you keep track of all your charging times as each network operates on different charging peramaters! Good luck looking forward for your trip experiencing and review!
Kits 90 years of practice on refinement, vs deep understanding of the new technology. The refinement can be learned. The first principles understanding (including by the CEO)..... Is possibly a harder mountain to climb.
The problem I have with Tesla is that they seem to be so low. small distance between the ground and the underside of the car. Can you even drive over a curb or drive along a forest road without scratches under the car?
Camera mirrors are not standard and you can choose normal mirrors when you buy an e-tron. One thing other OEMs learn from Tesla is the packaging of all features instead of making hundred add on packages. The price of the car from Audi, Mercedes and BMW is completely irrelevant as no one choose the base car package without any useful features.
E-Tron is the way to go! Tesla is good. But their build quality, for that price, is terrible. Carpet is glued. Body panels are misaligned. Production delayed in China. The list goes on. The fact that charging slows down as the battery fills up is a major no-go. Phones don't even charge that way... So why does a $80k car do that?
Actually it's because the thermal management of the battery pack is not as good in the Tesla compared to the Audi! They simply cannot sustain bulk current going into the battery pack for too long or they will overheat and be damaged. The Audi can sustain prolonged charge rates because it can more effectively remove the heat. Also that is why you have to "pre-warm" the battery pack for about 50mins on a Tesla before you can use their Ludicrous+ mode and then it needs a cool down cycle. Agree that e-tron is much more usable in the real world.
No keyless entry?? Wtf?? Pretty much standard on all E-trons on in US. But we don’t have the amazing functioning Matrix headlights or the digital side mirrors. But the seats with the massage options on BOTH driver and passengers in the E-tron is very nice.
Bullshit! I'm in Australia and tossing up between a Audi e-tron 55 quattro or Tesla Model X. You can buy an e-tron fully loaded with all options for about AU$175K drive-away before you even start haggling on the price. A base model Tesla Model X is $185K drive-away and the is NO haggling on the price!
Nice review 👍🏻 interested in your public charging test. I’m thinking of getting an ID4 instead of a Tesla but think I was spoilt with the charging on my Model 3 and worry about public charging.
Yes I’ve always kind of written off running another ev due to charging, but that’s why I want to test what it’s now like with this. I’m hoping it’s now sufficient and reliable, and of course it’s improving rapidly now
I’m also waiting for your long distance journey, public charging test too. Seriously considering swapping my S for an Etron but worried about losing access to the supercharger network. I have free supercharging too. Ionity, BP, Shell and others seem to have a decent number of rapid charger locations now but limited chargers at each. Keen to see if you have to queue or struggle with having to detour to find a location.
@@RSEV my main issue is Electric Highway. They seem to be camping on the service stations. If Instavolt put 10 x 150kw chargers in every service station Electric Highway were at the adoption of EV’s would be quicker. I always recommend EV’s to people but I was lent an ipace on a 3 day test drive last Halloween and I drove from Warwick to Woolacombe and stopped as I always do at Gordino services, there is only 1 CCS plug and it was taken by an E-Niro, I looked over and there were 7 of 8 available Tesla Superchargers 🤦🏻♂️ Luckily the E-Niro driver was in the car and when I tried to give him my number so he could let me know when he was nearly finished he said he had enough charge and left. I wonder what the insurance difference is between the 2 cars? Those fancy Model X rear door must be MEGA expensive. Audi certainly has vastly superior build quality, but I hate those digital mirrors. Cheers, great video.
The E-Tron 55 is the PHEV version of the Q5. We owned a 2020 Q5 50 tdi and considered this for a while when we just swapped - but the Volvo XC60 T8 Ultimate (Polestar) ended up $A20k ($11k pounds) cheaper and had more features, The Audi has a much better user interface and maybe a tad quieter but that was about it - everything else from the EV only range to seat comfort to handling, acceleration, to the general cabin feel was just better in the Volvo. We also averaged $1100-$2500 (600 to 1300 pounds) per service in the Audi (Audi Australia) - the E-tron would have been even more expensive - the Volvo is a little over 1/2 the cost for a like for like service.
The looks of the Audi are imo much nicer especially the rear. The rear of all Tesla’s are dull and I who’d hoped the refreshed m3 would have done something about it.
Greetings from Canada. Thank you for your straight talk video. You come actress as very knowledgeable and hence more trustworthy. As of this writing you have less than 6k subscribers but I expect that will grow rapidly. I have done my small part by subscribing. BTW, the bloopers you included were funny this time but I expect the will grow tiresome moving forward so my suggestion is to drop them.
My e-tron Sport back is incredible, BUT.... Tesla has fast-charging stations everywhere. They are few and far between for the Audi plug. Long distance driving? I haven't had to, but if you do, rural areas are a problem.
I am looking for an etron and first am orienting myself in other peoples opinion, especially people whose words have value, like yours. I was certain you'd prefer the Tesla over the etron so I was SO surprised... gladly so!
It's a tough one this, you have to weigh up the manufacturing cost of a completely new EV platform, that the TESLA is and the legacy companies like AUDI are not yet, AUDI etc have a history of components/technology to add to the new EV range they make, to the customer those little things they are used to and expect and like ..... TESLA are still at an early stage of production/development in my opinion, albeit, forward thinking, this would be at this stage for TESLA very expensive to match the small details of the market and price a car to sell in this range .... But they have built factories for the these specific EVs !!!!! .... more to come then from TESLA !!!!! ......As always an excellent video Richard !
After i had two audi a 8 i am done with audi. I've never met more arrogant people than at Audi, whoever doesn't come in a suit is completely ignored. The repair costs are proportional to the price of the car. Completely outrageous. I give Tesla a chance

My etron has been amazing!! Also, one should take into account the level of customer service and attention to detail that one gets with a premium brand like Audi.

I feel you have good credibility in your opinions so I don't care what others have reported. It's better to stick to what you have observed in your review. Enjoyed it other than that.
I have travelled in the X many times and it is very difficult to put on the seat belts as the buckles in the back are at seat level and don't stick up. That is for a slim person too with no winter jacket.
Nice comparison! I love that Audi, I’m even more excited for the etron GT! I can’t afford that but it would be nice to see that advancement trickle down to something the size of an A3 saloon one day.
I have, but not published as it was last minute and phone camera footage not good enough. I wasn’t impressed by it though, basically. I was the driver when it dies in the carwow range test video by the way
More videos will follow once I have more quantifiable data and opinions. The theme of that video was different, as stated. Audi v Tesla and how they compare 💁♂️ so sorry if that didn’t meet your expectation somehow. Next one will be 2000 mile review. And then a v other EV race
I love the falcon wing doors, I haven’t been in any parking garage where they are a hindrance, they can open with a pretty tight roof..... Maybe put the seats and headlights in the Tesla, ditch the rest. Mirrors are dumb 5 screens... distracting.. the HUD seems cool though
I don’t know about chargers in the UK but here in US CCS seem to hate cold States! So what I’m saying CCS on routes 80 or 90 no CCS on major across the lower 48 America across the USA!
The Audi is better for build quality, sound proofing, interior, ride/comfort, is quicker to charge, and roughly same economy as the model X... So basically everything that's important... And yet the Tesla is the better car?... Because it's quicker, has games, and has better software? (Which is subjective). If you only need 5 seats you only need 5 seats.
that’s why they’ve updated it. Even if they didn’t change much outside, inside...well, it’s a whole new story. And...about leather seats...let’s stop having animal stuff inside the car, please.
No mention of the app integration. That alone leaves my European cars in the dust. Takes me sometimes 2 mins for my bmw app to unlock the car. It’s just hilariously embarrassing
Those digital mirrors are the perfect example of a solution for a problem that didn't exist. What exactly was the problem with getting your image at... the speed of light?
I always ;I’ve it when people talk about being an owner of X or Y car, if you lease your own nothing and are renting it because you cant afford to buy it. Porsches are 10 a penny now as anyone can lease them. Its crazy. Had a guy on £35K a year Tuen up to work in a £70K BMW, barmy mentality.
Any cost savings gained by moving from traditional side mirrors to a full digital design is completely offset by having to draw power for both the camera and screen. Sure you gain 1.5km of range by reducing drag but you lose 5km of range having to power an always on dual camera dual screen system. This is such a stupid gimmick trend taken to the extreme on the Honda e, where you have 4-5 iPad size screens running at all times which reduces the range considerably 5-10% Mirrors and traditional dial controls use 0 energy which is the most important aspect of an electric vehicle.
You are speaking garbage. Operating two camera’s and two small video screens would probably consume 0.5W of electrical power but let’s round this up to 1W. The e-tron has a 95,000Wh battery of which 86,500Wh are usable. Let’s say the typical consumption is 22,000Wh per 100km. So over a 100km run the virtual mirrors have made it 22,001Wh of use - it’s practically a negligible impact. Now, just so you know the e-torn has a seperate 12V 68Ah battery to power these cameras and All the equipment in the car so the “traction” battery is not even used! That 12V “house” battery happily runs everything and gets charged when you do a traction battery fill-up. No problem here.
Audi, BMW, Ford are all coming late to the game meaning they've had extra years to engineer better, faster, more efficient and cheaper(?) EVs but the HAVEN'T. They barely match Tesla in one or two specs and that's just sad. As soon as Tesla has enough capacity for the 4086 battery production for the S, X, the tri-motor, and the Semi, it will be all over for the rest of the competitors. Ask yourself: what are the rest doing for batteries besides squat? GM talks about the "Ultium" battery but no one has ever seen one and GM has not published any statistics regarding price, charging, etc. The OEM's are at the mercy of 3rd party battery producers.
@@wattlebough I’ll probably have time to test drive one (and test another 3 while sitting in the back) before my current lease expires. I’m just wary of the size - it’s wider than the 3 and I prefer smaller cars

500% better than tesla... i hate my model y everyday i drive.. would immediately trade in for e Tron if the range go 300mile..

Etron looks like an Audi.
That's what I love about it, electric car with Audi looks.
How can that be a bad thing?
However, there should be some audi that looks like a regular A4 - A6
Drove a model Y, bought an e-tron, *note I drove an etron premium plus and almost cancel my purchase, but I stuck it out, glad I did, when my prestige showed up, I was smiling from ear to ear, it’s a totally different car.
@Jason I don't think so. I prefer mirrors.

Would be good to go that with etron too. It’s the time and expense of miles on each car. We’re not journalists and wouldn’t recoup the revenue from a video very easily
How much do you pay for car insurence?

Most comfortable seats i've ever sat in, panoramic window and white, clean interior and minimal interior made it feel like i'm in a space ship. Sound system and speed / acceleration was amazing. Great review, straight to the point. No faffing around like some other channels :)
faffing...my new favorite word

Audi is my favorite car brand, but I do enjoy Tesla’s vision of the future.
I was exactly like that. Huge Audi fan. Until I drove a Tesla for the first time. It was a Model S. That experience changed everything. Have you have you ever had the chance to drive a Tesla yet? I am sincerely curious. (I still enjoy Audis, don't get me wrong.)
I'm the same way... I love Audis and Teslas... I wish I could have a Tesla that looked like an Audi tbh
The etron build quality and fit and finish are on a completely other level to the Tesla. The Tesla wins with the tech, but that’s about it for me.
What about price and efficiency?
Obviously you don’t own either car, LOL!
@@Dark_Vader888 nope but I own a wrap shop and have worked on both extensively. My money would go to the Audi plus all the owner horror stories of servicing and fixing their Tesla. I’m a massive Elon Fan too.
@@Myeeers Here in Australia I can buy a fully loaded e-tron 55 quattro for less that the price of a base model Tesla Model X!
But you can drive with Tesla on a forest road when you are going to fish in the same place as when you were a child
A RUclipsr who drove Tesla in northern Norway where there was snow and ice on the road, was critical of the four-wheel drive on Tesla. for it is not on all the time. such as on an Audi Quattro, for example

Well, how do you like it? Considering the same switch!

I just found this channel, and I love the tongue twisters you got yourself into. I can't hold my laughter!
😝
The best thing about an etron is that is looks like everyother Audi
Also the one of the worst things
I love both cars, however I lean towards the Audi just because there are more dealerships around.
Stiff is better for cornering
There's settings you can change how stiff the suspension is on the e-tron
Without actual wipers, just one more thing to break.
that's a euro thing... on their cars since the 80's
Try to drive in Finnish November wet blackness with salt+shit flying to the lights and windscreen all the time. Lamp washers are a must here in the Autumn darkness!
Excellent review and comparison. You touched on so many important features of each. Thanks!
Audi cars are always thinking ahead for you to help, protect you and other drivers......I guess what I'm saying is Audi cars are intuitive.
For example, open driver's door in drive, emergency brake kicks on. My 4th Audi with Quatro.....no need for any other cars....Period.
Tesla has that too and more
E-tron does have keyless entry 🙂
Here in the US, the cheapest Enron can be had for around 30 K a hell of a lot less than a model X, and not sure most people need performance, subpar ride of the older Teslas so one would be perfect for just tootling around, even though the range is not so great.
Here's one solid reference towards Audi for US customers. X leases for way over a $1000 a month and etron leases for half that amount.
haha love adding in the bloopers.

Very nice comparison review. 👍. Thanks for sharing.
I liked this and subbed, am going to get the Audi in a few months, living here in Vancouver
What a fantastic video thank you. I'm really excited about the Audi and hope that it works well for you. I have subscribed to your channel.
No keyless entry?? Wtf?? Pretty much standard on all E-trons on in US. But we don’t have the amazing functioning Matrix headlights or the digital side mirrors. But the seats with the massage options on BOTH driver and passengers in the E-tron is very nice.
My thoughts exactly. I have keyless entry
audi's regen works the same as the MG ZS EV:)
The e-tron is amazing. Audi quality. However at close to $200,000 based on the model in Australia, it's expensive. Just like the Tesla Model S and X.
I wonder what the insurance difference is between the 2 cars? Those fancy Model X rear door must be MEGA expensive. Audi certainly has vastly superior build quality, but I hate those digital mirrors. Cheers, great video.
Great summary. Audi is my preference
One for comfort one for speed good choice.

For me "better car" isn't determined by the number of electronic toys.
My e-tron Sport back is incredible, BUT.... Tesla has fast-charging stations everywhere. They are few and far between for the Audi plug. Long distance driving? I haven't had to, but if you do, rural areas are a problem.

Got to Drive the Audi ETron today, its fantastic.
Yes I miss mine. Very comfortable

Pretty thorough walk through of the car but was a little put off by the comment regarding phantom braking with the Tesla AP.
The ride is rough on bad roads.

Yes, vegan leather is just as nice 👍🏼
I prefer real leather tbh, it’s also a waste to just throw it away, but fabric is better than both imo

I'll bet that without cutting it, you couldn't tell the difference.
@@rogerstarkey5390 perhaps, but it would mostly come down to how the leather was treated.
No mention of the app integration. That alone leaves my European cars in the dust. Takes me sometimes 2 mins for my bmw app to unlock the car. It’s just hilariously embarrassing
Those digital mirrors are the perfect example of a solution for a problem that didn't exist. What exactly was the problem with getting your image at... the speed of light?
image processing can predict a bit more stuff through those cameras (reserve it for few years down the line)
This is such a stupid gimmick trend taken to the extreme on the Honda e, where you have 4-5 iPad size screens running at all times which reduces the range considerably 5-10%
Mirrors and traditional dial controls use 0 energy which is the most important aspect of an electric vehicle.
Love the style of the review Richard, can't wait for more adventures in other EVs Vs Tesla's.
I just don’r get why anyone would buy an expensive SUV when SUV’s are rubbish to drive. I’m keeping my Ampera until I can buy a Porsche Boxter EV.
hmm didn’t realise there was such little space in the back of the model 3. Had a test drive which I loved but I didn’t sit in the back..
The Model Y would be my choice over the Model 3 for that and several other reasons.
@@wattlebough I’ll probably have time to test drive one (and test another 3 while sitting in the back) before my current lease expires. I’m just wary of the size - it’s wider than the 3 and I prefer smaller cars
The Audi is better car. The Tesla is a better appliance.
In Germany we call this a „Ehrenmann“
