After years of Tesla ownership, how do I rate the Mercedes EQV ?
This is the AMG trim in black with 21” wheels and black interior featuring an 80KwH battery and all wheel drive.
What is it like inside, how much space in there and how does it drive?
Coming soon we will also compare it to the Jaguar iPace, Audi Etron Quattro and Tesla Model X side by side, stay subscribed!

Great in depth review - although this vehicle is the AMG Line version, it's definitely not standard spec. The wheels, sunroof, sound system, 360 camera, augmented display are Premium pack and above options.

Thanks for the review I've had my EQC for 6 months now and I'm really enjoying it. There's a depth to the vehicle and I actually like its more traditional approach. The refinement is outstanding. I think MB were very conservative with the battery management on the EQC as the gross capacity is over 93kWh with 80kWh usable resulting in large buffers and relatively flat charging speeds. In terms of cargo space, we have a small greyhound and she's very happy in the back!

My average consumption over 18,000+ KMs has been 19.4kWh/100kms. Given the EQC battery size of 80kWh net, my maximum range would be just over 400kms. Realistically, 320-350kms in our mild climate would be easy to achieve leaving a buffer for the battery.

If you'd buy an ICE car, would you buy it based on the gas tank size? No you wouldn't, because it does not matter. Same thing with the EVs; if the battery size is large enough for the most daily rides, who cares about the size of it?

Augmented does work well, but it doesn’t say anything for going “around” the roundabout, only which exit to take. But it is good.

I don’t like it’s based on GLC rather than designed from scratch - weird move especially it’s not called GLC e but new model name altogether - and it shows transmission tunnel in electric car for 60k ? A joke. Also no excuse not to enable car with faster charging capability. There should be a frunk for all the cables if they designed it better also. Tesla showed that cars this size can be very spacious, this car isn’t. Sweet spot for range would be around 300 miles - BMW is releasing i4 with that kind of range so not only Tesla can do it clearly. Everything else (apart from mentioned plastic) I really like and maybe when they address all that in mark II I will get it.

I drove this at its introduction in 2020. The Mercedes experience is what it is. They know how to sell cars. They also know how to build cars. And the ECQ is a great car in its lineup. However, it was presented in between a GLC43 and GLC63, because that's where it sits in terms of price. And to be honest, when you spend this kind of money and when you're shopping in AMG territory, you'd go for a GLC63. It's just more special. I felt exactly the same when I attended an experience day at Audi and drove the eTron 55. Another driver rocked up in his SQ8 and neither him or I were interested in the electric version, especially given the sticker price being identical. When I bought my Model S in 2016, it just felt special, it still does and still impresses anyone stepping into it. Does that make me a Tesla fanboy, probably... But I am as excited about the Ioniq 5 and EV6, which will have a greater impact than the iPace, eTron 55 and EQC. On a side note. The interior of the EQC looks great, however doesn't feel great, it''s a dust collector in the many grills and when I stepped in my mate's EQC again 18 months later, it felt dated. Even he feels that way. And is looking at the eTron GT.

Watching you drive was quite telling. You kept fidgeting with those paddles - (what on earth are they for?)- which made them look like they were sort of in the way of grabbing the wheel. And that you would knock them around when doing three point turns, for instance. Also, you kept having to put your right elbow up on the window sill in a semi uncomfortable position. Shouldn’t the arm rests be in a better position to relax while driving? Or the window sill be lower for that right arm? Me thinks this is a non addressed issue that many vehicles have.
Also…. Please purchase a light for lighting these inside of these cars if you intend to make more of these videos.

I considered buying the EQC 400, but it just lacks power compared to my GLC AMG 430 petrol.
The EQC 400 0-62 is 5.1 seconds, compared to GLC AMG 430 petrol 4.9 seconds.
And once you hit 110 mph the EQC 400 is finished...
compared to the GLC AMG 430 which will keep picking up to 155 may be more..
To me the EQC is a downgrade, Mercedes need to up their game a bit more to entice me to buy electric.

Lucid has already blown this away just on range alone. "Mass market" in EVs is selling a thousand vehicles a week unless you're Tesla...and that means selling 1000 "clearly better than a Tesla vehicle" every week and this as with BMW is not even close.
    Long Lucid Motors, strong buy.
    Long Nio, strong buy.
Volkswagen and Audi look like the best bet to try and at least post up against Tesla in Europe.
I don't think anyone in Europe can "hang" with Tesla at the moment and in the least because of the holistic "Tesla experience" to include Supercharger Stations, Solar City, Solar Controller, PowerWall plus now Industrial applications hard at work in Australia and soon California plus distributed grid plus i think most importantly straight up retail (merchandise, food, service and support) on or about the Supercharger Network.
    Long $goev Canoo
    Strong buy
