This was what I have been looking for. Mine did the same thing and when I got underneath sure enough the cable was loose at the starter. Fixed for free. Thank you so much!
Gotta love the way you found this, and the familiar way you delayed diagnosis in favor of paid work. You can see why busy techs slide into the parts changing mindset, where even here the customer would never have known. ScannerDanner uses a three step algorithm with a test light and I try to emulate that at every no crank. It's not perfect but it gives a blueprint that establishes a mindset to help recognize the easy fix.
I see your Chrystler emblem is off your steering wheel, they should give you a new one for free because of a safety recall, apparently the original from the factory was injuring drivers flying off the wheel if the airbag was deployed. Also while you’re at the dealership ask about the new ignition module with 2 new keyfobs you’ll get for free as well. Mine’s an 08, I’m sure yours is covered as well, labor included
You got to love it when it’s a simple fix like that! Thats the kind of fix that a dishonest auto shop would have charged the typical soccer mom for a new starter plus $200 in labor. I also do what you did in that when I think I have found the electrical culprit, I get so excited to start my vehicle that I forget to re-hook the net batt cable back up and have to jump back out and hook it back up then try the starter Lol. Overall good quick diagnose video, I am actually looking at getting a good used Dodge Grand Caravn/Town & Country vehicle as my next beater/all around use daily driver😊
What exactly did you do? Having the same problem with my 2004 T&C, there is no start and rapid clicking noise, even with a new battery, fuel pump, and starter relays.
Negative lead on the positive stud of the battery and the positive lead on the positive of the battery? Could you explain? I kniw you probably just messed up the words, but i would still like to know how you actually did it. Thanks!!
Sorry I misspoke, The negative lead is in the positive stud of the Starter and the positive lead is on the positive terminal of the battery. The Meter will show the the voltage drop between them.
I have a powered sectional. One of the seats was intermittent. If I played with the switch I could get it to work. I was ready to order a switch. I take it apart and one of the wires came off of it's pad. I soldered it back on for the win and immediately thought of Ivan. NPR repair. Not too many times you have to bring your soldering station in the living room to work on your couch.
Ironically a new starter would have fixed it too haha
Totally agreed if it was in another shop😅
PJ from VDD would be proud. THE most valuable test in electrical diagnostics!

Glad to help!
They call it town and country because that’s usually where they break down 😁👊🏻

My Mom was a 05 Voyager w/ 3.3L engine and she LOVES this thing.
THIS is what half of my "Can you replace my starter?" calls are like. No parts required! You are now their hero!
SD said Don't be a parts changer, but I say come over to the dark side with a new starter. 😅
🤣
thats a great fix, 😂😂 totally do the same when i disconnect a battery 😅 try and start and am like wft

Just did the same checks positive and negative on a 2012 civic before and after I replaced the starter (200mv). Replacement starter was bad.
Great video! Thank you for sharing!
Diagnosis vs parts changer 🎉
Good catch,man!!
Awesome video , keep up the good work
Techs often neglect their own cars because they need a break from working on cars all day, especially when they're not getting paid for it!
Good morning
How did that get loose
Forgetting to reconnect the battery is definitely something I would do.
Perfect 👌

The wire going to the starter was loose.

@advancedleveldiagnostics thank you very much!!
your inspection sticker...🤣
Shhh! Lol
Sir can switches bypass test
❤
"This car is fixed"
Really?
DId you see the exhaust manifold flopping around?
That's just the heat shield not the manifold
I’m just as lazy with my own vehicles 😂
Hahahah I am sure you would of caught it when getting ready to remove the starter
As Ivan would say: "No parts required".

Yup I was just fixing my coffee machine like that😀
