My wife and I got to visit with the entire band last year after a show outside the Fox Theater in Bakersfield, CA. When you meet these guys off-stage, you really get to see how cool they are as real people. Robin Zander's son (also has the name Robin, at the right in this video) was a superb guy, just a class act. We talked for quite a while. A sign that his dad is truly a first-class guy. Nobody can raise a good kid without also being a quality person. Tom Petersen and Rick Nielson were also polite and appreciative to meet the fans that stayed after the show to meet them. I always loved this band, but after meeting them I am a permanent fan. My wife is not a huge rock music fan, but she commented, "Wow, they are really great to meet in person." See you guys again at the show next in Bakersfield in December!!!
These guys are a kind of a wonderful treasure for rock music and rock fans, Cheap Trick are really one of the best rock bands of the last fifty years. Keep on rockin' many years more!!!
Just saw them at the Greeley Stampede in Greeley Colorado.. WOW. had so much fun. Turned to my cousin and pointed out these guys were rocking out when we were playing with Star Wars action figures in 77..... seen them several times over the years and have to say they still got it going on.
I won tickets to see Cheap Trick and Heart in San Antonio TX on May 1st, I invited my friends Mom that is going through cancer treatment. She was so excited and can't wait to Rock!
Prayers for her to get better, I lost my dad in November after a lot of health problems. I'm flying in for the same concert. We had talked the week before I lost him that I wished Heart would get back together so I'm going with him in MY heart. I hope you give as many memories to her that I got with my dad at the Stadium Tour, Iron Maiden and Greta Van Fleet in the hard years he pushed himself through

Cheap Trick always mixes-up the setlist, something missing from the majority of heritage bands still out there. Real rock and roll music as it was always meant to be.
I've Opened for them 2x, seen them a half dozen....great always...none with Daxx but from the videos I've seen his tempos are much faster than the originals and lack the dynamics Bun E brought...still good to see them out there....side note- the 2nd nite we opened for them I went front sage right between the stage and security to watch, Rick looked down during HELLO yelled hows it sound? I screamed you're too loud and he yelled back "fuck yeah"...this was 91...
First gig back after the month in Australia. Interestingly, they've got RTZ back on deck. I assume he'll be doing the Summer with Heart. He definitely adds some energy.
When Singer/Keyboardist Steve Walsh of the Band Kansas was briefly in Cheap Trick, he mentioned that Guitarist Rick Nielsen never takes his hat off. Love this band, though different genres would love to see the two bands (Cheap Trick/Kansas) tour together.

Robin should tell his son to back off doubling his vocals when he feels he can do it by himself. This is probably the most difficult song to sing in this set and he did just fine.

I'm thinking the point is they don't want to headline a tour with major equiptment and opening acts. They just want to play with their base stage show and crew. They use the same stage gear whether they open or they headline.. Looks easy to break down and get offstage if they open.

Cheap Trick opened for REO Speedwagon? Really? That seems kind of inverted, doesn't it? Cheap Trick's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and 3 out of the four 4 original members still actively recording and touring. REO Speedwagon isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and hasn't released an album of all-new original material in nearly 17 years, preferring to phone in the greatest hits by-the-numbers. Go figure.
I feel that REO fell apart when Gary Richrath left. He was the heart and soul. So sad he wrecked his life with drugs and alcohol. He left I’m pretty sure because of that and didn’t like the direction the band was going in.

I saw the real Cheap Trick with the original lineup, featuring drummer bunny Carlos as the soul of the group tying everything together when they opened for Kansas in Germany in 1977. I saw the air feeble old jeep trick with arrogant people, pretending to be the rock legends who started the group sing their vapid over amp badly mixed crap about three years ago. I went home, and I burned all of my Cheap Trick CDs because they have sold out.
They do this song almost every night and he tends to play it this way, so it’s not a lack of practice. We agree it’s sloppy but then again Rick has always said he wasn’t a fan of this song as it was forced upon them by their record label in the hope of getting them a hit. They were offered either this or ‘Look Away’ which Chicago did instead. Both great songs but Rick is a songwriter and thought they were too maudlin for his taste.
The guitarist Rick Nielsen needs to get more coordinated with the pre-recorded backing vocals. Sometimes he's not even close to the microphone to make it look almost real.
Rick doesn’t really ‘sing’ to begin with. Daxx ( the drummer ) and Robin Jr are doing the backup vocals. Don’t see what you’re referencing to here. Plenty of bands use backing tracks nowadays but never have we noticed CT do so.

Rick doesn’t really ‘sing’ to begin with. Daxx ( the drummer ) and Robin Jr are doing the backup vocals. Don’t see what you’re referencing to here. Plenty of bands use backing tracks nowadays but never have we noticed CT do so.

RTZ has had to fill in as a replacement for Tom, Dax, and Rick, at various times. He is a very good addition for that reason alone

Bun E. Hasn't been in the band for many years. Robin threw a hissy fit and threatened to leave CT if Bun E. wasn't removed. They need to grow up and put reinstate Bun. E. Carlos
