Cheap Trick is Rock N' Roll, and Rock N' Roll is Cheap Trick! Robin Zander, in the Top 5 of male rock singers ever! Gonna spend the rest of the day listening to Cheap Trick
Rick's son is okay he gets the job done, but Bun E hit WAY harder and the band was tighter. They're still amazing don't het me wrong, CT was the First Big band I saw, backed up KISS in 77.
I knew a couple of their songs late 70s, but had not seen them live, so I did not know what they looked like. They played a free live show at Houston Tx Astroworld Amusement park in the same late 1970s ...and I happened to see it. What floored me most of all was Bun E Carlos the drummer. He was like, I don't need long hair or a 6 neck guitar to be cool. I have the balls to go on stage as your dad the accountant, smoking cigs, as a bad ass drummer and that should work! 😊
I saw them twice by in the late 70's! The girls were screaming so loud you couldn't hear the band! The true spirit of Rock lives in the soul of this super group! You want rock? These guys deliver!
Had a friend in Houston who worked for CBS records and he got us backstage for a Cheap Trick show in the 70s. Before the show we saw Rick, called out his name and he stopped talked with us for a few minutes. Chatty and friendly and funny. He did complain that he was experiencing debilitating insomnia - hope he's found a solution for that. Fun band, great performers live.
@tproudboomer5965... Yeah Robin's still got it! Seen them 4 times, don't think I ever heard them play Heaven Tonight live? At least it doesn't seem like it. But a lot of partying back then, maybe they did....lol
The band that doesn't physically age, this band defines my childhood growing up in central illinois. I've seen them more times than I can remember including my children, they are the perfect band to take your kids to, even more so to take backstage to meet with.
Jon... no. I understand you say that as a compliment. they are no garage band. Bun E dude is one of the best most articulate drummers ever. Tom Petersen... dude actually invented the 12-string bass guitar and played it like a rhythm guitar. Vocals have melody and harmony w/ Rick and Tom. This is the antithesis of a garage band.
Cheap Trick was my second concert ever way back in 1979. I have seen them a few more times over the years, most recently this year opening for Heart. They still kill it, every night!
So great! I've been a fan since they opened for Bob Seger on the "In Color" tour. What a great bunch of talented guys - Robin is still running on all cylinders!

What a kick ass show!!!! ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😄😃😀🤩🤩😘😘😍 Robin Zander has to be one of the greatest Rock singers!!!! He has his own identity style!!!! And a great vocal range!!!!!!
My first concert was Cheap Trick in 1978. Robin Zander still sounds amazing. Rick is a great guitarist. He’s got a multitude of guitars. He owns all the rest of Aldo Nova’s Les Paul guitars with the Gibson Explorer headstock. One of my favorite guitars.
My first concert was also in 1978. Cheap Trick opened for Head East. Been a fan ever since. Will never forget Rick throwing Kiss albums to the crowd when they played Surrender. Love that they're still out there having fun!
First time I saw them was in a little bar in Twin Lakes Wisconsin, early 70's. That was enough to get me hooked. Prior to their first album they played the Chicago north suburbs and southern Wisconsin. I had seen them 20 or 30 times before their album debut. One of the best covers they did was a Fat's Domino song...."ain't that a shame" and always followed by Dylan's "Please Mrs. Henry" ........two perfect and memorable renditions. Those intimate clubs and were some of the best performances I had ever seen. Bun E. Carlos was the drummer then and through their fame. He chain smoked through each performance....and is still one of the greatest drummers of all time. This band was destined for greatness since day one....and always made it look easy....and always fun.

Love this band so much. But really also love the extra musicians onstage helping fill out the sound of what would be overdubs on the albums. Great full sound.
The Band started touring in 1973 , had success with bigger venues in 1975,really started making their way to international fame in 1977 ,never looked back .
The fact that Robin Zander kept this vocal range until he was past 60 years old is astonishing. What is he here, 58 or so? Talk about The Man with a Thousand Voices.
Yes. His voice has always impressed me, never cracking or not finding the range. I remember seeing them at least twice one year in the late 70s where they opened for both Foreigner and Kansas. I think the constant touring really toughened Robin's voice.
I saw them when they came to town a year ago. They still sound great. Robin can still hit the notes. A lot of older singers can’t. I was definitely impressed. Was a great show.
