Both sound and picture are quite high ! Cheap Trick is the best as hard rock band to me. I went to BUDOKAN two times to see their LIVE in 80's. And there, I picked up Mr.Neilsen's pick with his face he threw from stage! I still have it ! I’m so glad they still keep rock'in although they are aged. Cheap Trick Forever ! From TOKYO🍣, Thank you ! 🌈
They were exceptionally in the groove for this performance. This film is a treasure. Caught them in Indiana last week, driving to their Illinois show this week. They are so good….🏁amazing.
Thank you for catching this, and sharing. A few years back we caught them at Red Rock CO. It was the best! Peter Frampton was suppose to open, didn’t show, so they rocked their library for 3 hour! #Respect! And Robin hit every note! We just caught them in Tampa, It’s feels like it’s all about the audience.
Always loved this band!!! ONE of the hardest working real rock, road bands in music history. They toured everywhere and we all were able to see them perform live many times - INCREDIBLE live., many years of great music. Missing BUN E Carlos
They were at my grade 8 JR. High dance before Budakon and Extreme Fame. I am blessed had a crush on Robin beautiful man and talented performer good husband and father too looks like. Thank you for the joy! Saw you in Edmonton 2018 K Days. Awesome you guys!
Yep All missing The BunMan but it’s pleasing to know he’s not back there smoking his precious lungs up or getting his hearing damaged by loudness❤️❤️❤️
From first show at Swing Auditorium, San Bernardino, CA in 1978, thru the 25th anniversary show in San Francisco April 2003, and this 35th in LA and beyond, all 68 shows have rocked! And no disrespect to Dax but sure missin Bun E
Thanks for posting this. I was there. Favorite part was after spending $500 for VIP ticket to be up front, we were all pushed back about 15ft just before show started to allow Varvatos and his friends to be in front of stage 😂 Still a great nite at an iconic space.
I remember that well. I got to the venue around noon and was among the first few people in line. Perfect understandable that the folks who paid for VIP would get up front... we expected that. However (like you mentioned), there was also the "Super" VIP, which screwed you guys. You definitely should have been in front of them, since you paid.
Tom Peterson has the most unique bass ever. Wow! Cheap Trick still Rocks! It’s just too bad that Rock isn’t popular anymore. The new generation is into Rap and Video games. But I still appreciate a good Rock Band! 👏🏻🎸😎 I’m in the minority though. Only 14 K views? That’s sad! Thanks for uploading this show anyway! 👏🏻😎

Yup! That's the complete concert track listing. When I uploaded the video, I made sure to include the time-stamp (chapters) in the description - so each song is/was easily accessible. Since it was specifically the Budokan setlist, it's the same as what you listed.
Saw them 3 times in two years, second time I got a front row video of them as it was their last show on tour with Motley Crue in Des Moines Iowa. Still have that vid
Ooh it was a tough gig to do.... CBGB sounded truly horrible on stage.... a red hot tiny wee club great atmosphere but very hard to perform comfortably there. I bet they took up most of the club bringing in outside PA, lights and additional staging... and, ooh those restrooms were legendary in how beyond goss they were BUT CT managed to nail it ... 😊🇬🇧😊
I'm sure it was! Only been there once when it was CBGB's... Saw Cheap Trick in 1999. For this gig, we were VERY packed in. It was ridiculous. I don't think (?) there were restrooms inside for folks watching the show - just port-a-potty's outside the store.
Yes, it would've been "WTF" if they DID play those songs at this specific show. This concert was to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Budokan, hence the setlist. Dream Police and The Flame were not played at the original Budokan show, in 1978.
who else still sings this good after 50 years? No one! got chills in my spine when he sang Southern Girls.

His voice has not changed, Can't Hold On, and that chuggin' bass though Cheap Trick blues.
The greatest of all time!!! Cheap Trick
My God they are STILL so damn great!!!

Whoever posted thank you, this is musical history documented and is appreciated.
My pleasure!! Love the band :)
What a great platform to showcase Robin Zander's amazing voice! Greatest. Band. Ever.

Thanks so much 👍
Such a great memory...
🤘🤘🎸
Great, but miss the beat and sound of Mr Bun E Carlos on the drums
The kid has chops tho.
He has no swing.
@@markfry5796 thats exactly it. I have no problem with daxx, but some songs definitely suffer from a little stiffness
We all do
Dax is a great drummer.
I saw them in the early 80's but I would have loved to have saw them at these later years. Still love them lots ❤
🤘🤘🎸
Cheap Trick always has it turned up to “11”.

Yeah, you can't just see them once. Definitely multiple times :) Also - no disrespect, but it's "Daxx" (with two x's)
@@nabalab thanks, guess I need to face the fact that Bun ain't ever coming back and learn to spell Daxx's name...
very nice thanks - I was lucky enough to see them live for the first time a few years ago in SF, but I've been a big fan since '79
Excellent! Miss Bun E’s swing....
Robin still has that beautiful smile !
And voice Deb
This is what happens when a super rock n roll band stays tight and takes care of his voice all these many years later ❤
Thanks for posting this. I was there.

love this group. great songs.
This post rules --- Cheap Trick is so Bad Ass!!!
Robin is playing his original Telecaster here?
Absolutely stunning love this band.
Witnessed them in '79 on Long Island,N.Y. Blew me and my girlfriend away.
I'm sure they appreciated not having to play The Flame for the Budokan anniversary shows!
So Amazing
Its all about Tom Petersson!!!
🤘🤘🎸
This was almost the exact setlist of when I saw them for the first time, August 1978 (although "Heaven Tonight " was also played the night I saw them)
I miss Bun... this band is not the same without him,,,
Agreed Cobi
During Big Eyes,Robin is thinking Rick your killin me.
I miss you all 😘
See you in Japan 2021😉
🤘🤘🎸
Speak Now is a big challenge, RZ bashing through.
Love this! Can't imagine how painfully bored they must be (but they never show it!!! - the sign of something!)
Why do you say they must be bored? Any special reason?
They will always be one of the great American rock bands miss bun e also rock on I am yeah
🤘🤘🎸
Robin Zander is rocks SECRET WEAPON!
Robin is pretty damned special that's for sure !!!
Tbh I think Daxx is doing a great job on drums here!

Toms bass is a twelve string Gretsch, they run at about twelve thousand dollars...
It's kind of funny seeing them on a tiny little stage like that.
Best way to see them!!!
Not only tiny but seriously low.
That bass Tom opened with is fucking sharp!
During song Can’t hold on2Lighters up for Robin Zander!!🔥🔥🔥

No I can’t figure out how to share it
@@timgrant6646 ask somebody please,,, love to see that show too.
👍😎
She's Got Big Eyes
they should have returned to the scene of their triumph. Is Budokan even still in existence??
I understand what you're saying. I was fortunate they played this show in NYC, because I was able to make it. Also, yes... Budokan is still around.
Zander is a stud. Nielsen plays sloppy now compared to the past.
I agree , he at times plays sloppy but I think age is not your friend , he he’s still rockin .
I missed Mr Bun on the drums, and I missed Voices as well ;-)
Since this was a Budokan show, Voices was not going to be in the setlist. But they have still played it from time-to-time over the years.
Roger Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner. They hire only the best backing folks.
Saw a few shows in January 2010 where they backed CT (Irving Plaza, NYC and the "Front Row Center" taping) - sounded great.

No Dream Police? No The Flame? Killer voice tho.
This concert was the 35th anniversary of Budokan, hence the setlist.
Dream Police and The Flame were not played at the original Budokan show, in 1978.

Tom's right there playing it ! 😂🎸
